Kimi has been enjoying her stay with us so
far and especially enjoys her time spent outdoors. She is always the first one
out the door and the last one to come inside but lucky for her, most of her
time is spent outdoors between her group outings and morning trail walk! Today
she had the pleasure of walking with Mr. Cai and good pal Oreo, she has been
enjoying her group outings with these two and they have become fast friends.
She loved to watch Oreo and Lola fight each other playfully for the ball today and
her tail perked right up as they got closer to her. We all know that Kimi has a
playful side and I was just waiting to see if she would make her move and join
in the fun, but it looks like she was saving that for her next outing!
Buddy was a new face to the small dog group
today and is he ever adorable! He took his time to sniff out his new
surroundings as he entered the yard, but pint-sized sisters Iris and Amber
quickly greeted him and made him feel right at home! There was a great big yard
for him to explore and lots of little faces to meet so he was pre-occupied most
of the morning. Although shy, he was very excited to be here and I could see
him warm up more and more throughout the day. The best part of his day was
his trail walk alongside Amber and Iris; he really came out of his shell and
loved leading the way down the path! Amber and Iris were thrilled to be back
for daycare, it has been a while since I have seen those sweet faces of theirs
and they were back to their usual routine in no time! Confident Iris led Amber
out into the far yard where Pippin was playing with the orange ball. It looks
like little Amber has come a long way as well, seeing as she is much more confident but
still loves to be close to her sister. She was a good match for Buddy today!
Pippin was missing some of his playful buddies but he kept himself occupied
most of the morning with his favourite ball. Ever since I found out just how
much he loved playing with the ball, I made sure to bring one outside with me
and his eyes immediately got wider with excitement when I flashed it in front
of him! He could have played by himself all morning long because he has
learnt to throw and retrieve all by himself; in fact he was very vocal when I
tried to throw it for him! While Pippin was playing an epic game of fetch and
Buddy and the girls were exploring the front yard, Kouza had made her way all
the way into the far yard letting her nose lead the way. She was in such good
spirits this morning and felt like taking a tour around the yard with all that
energy of hers. Then after her morning trail walk, she headed up front to the
reception area for her extra attention session. It was a fun and busy morning
for this lady! Kouza was feeling feisty today when it came time for
her extra attention. She knew I had some carrots in my hand and couldn’t wait
to get her paws on them! I made it a bit of a game for her though, and put the
carrots in the treat puzzle. She pawed it around the room enthusiastically, gobbling up each carrot as she uncovered it. Once they were all gone, Kouza
sniffed around the room to make sure they were, in fact, all eaten, and then
came to see me for some pets. She was being a snuggle bug and stood beside me
for a back rub. She got even more pets when Susan entered the room, and it’s
safe to say Kouza enjoyed her one-on-one session today!
Finnigan, Chloe and Kane joined forces
outside this morning and together made the most entertaining and enthusiastic
group of the day! You have to stay on your toes when these three are around
because there is lots of running around the yard at full tilt and if you aren’t
careful you will find yourself in the centre of all the chaos! Fun Chaos that
is! I don’t think they stopped wrestling from the moment they set paw in that
yard until it was time to come back in. Once Finn saw Chloe in the yard, he
knew he was in for a good time and before I knew it they were both jumping up
on their hind legs ready for a wrestle! Meanwhile, Kane was whipping around the
yard like he usually does and found himself in the centre of their wrestle and
this duo soon became a trio of play! On the other side of the yard, Bella and
Oakley were teasing best Husky pal Justice and enticing him to play. Of course
Justice never says refuses the offer to play with his two favourite ladies! But
it looks like Oakley may have found another male companion for the morning, she
just adores Kane and although they seem like an unlikely pair, the spirited
Kane brought out the playful in Oakley and she loved every minute of it! Bella
didn’t mind, that meant she had Justice all to herself and she danced around with him all
morning long! When it was time to come back inside, both Chloe and Finn were
pooped from a morning of play, but ready to head out again for their trail
walk!
Max and Sadie leapt out of their kennel
this morning when it was time to head out to play shortly after arrival. Max
could hardly wait to get out into the far yard to explore, he has the same
routine every morning and likes to sniff out every inch of that yard like it
was the first time he had ever been out there! Sadie is also a creature of
habit and was trying to decide which rock she should perch herself on this
morning. I sat beside her on the rock and she immediately started giving me
sloppy kisses and this soon got the attention of Max and he ran over to give me
kisses on the other cheek. Again, they seemed unusually relaxed this morning,
which isn’t a bad thing, but I tried to get the momentum started by enticing
them with the stuffed teddy bear from the group before. They both gave me their
best leaps in the air after it but quickly lost interest. It’s Spring they
said, a season of relaxation and exploration!
