Jack and Maggie are so lovely to spend time with. We started
our one-on-one time together with a couple of yummy treats, which both Jack and
Maggie gobbled up enthusiastically. Next, I offered Maggie a couple of fun toys
from the basket, and she chased after a stuffy and a ball, until she saw Jack
climbing up on my lap for pets! She came over to join us and I had both Jack
and Maggie snuggled up on my lap together. They each gave me a couple of kisses
on the cheek and enjoyed a back scratch.
Kouza and I took advantage of the warm weather and headed
out to explore the front yard for her extra attention time. She absolutely
loves to wander around in the grass with her nose glued down in search of
interesting smells. It was nice and breezy, so Kouza followed the scents as
they blew by in the wind. After lots of roaming around, Kouza and I made our
way back to the reception area, where I gave her a carrot before she sat down
with me for a head scratch.
Mercedey went for a nice relaxing walk this morning with her
friends Charly and Merida in the beautiful weather. Mercedey is definitely an
independent girl and likes to keep to herself. She explored the yard thoroughly
from one end to the other making sure not to miss an inch. Her nose was glued
to the ground most of the day. I'd see her sneak in a quick hello to the other
dogs in her groups before hurrying on her way. She is a very busy girl you know.
With some patience and convincing I caught her attention and was able to get a
quick pet in. This didn't last too long before she was in her way again
splashing through the puddles. Towards the end of group time I found her
relaxing by the door with miss Sophie. Sophie is great for keeping others company and
these two girls seemed quite content to do just that.
Max and Sadie
are always a good pair of dogs to spend time with. They were both super excited
to get outside into the yard and race around. Before heading outside I asked
them to wait by the door, as they both know this is an important rule to not
barge out the door. The both sat patiently as I opened the door and stood
outside. Before I could completely get the word "break" out of my
mouth they burst outside with enthusiasm. They explored the yard splitting up to
cover as much ground as possible. I showed them a few different toys, but they
weren't in a playing mood this group. So instead of playing fetch we did some
brain work. I asked Max to come and sit and then asked Sadie to come and sit in
another place. I rotated between the two moving around the entire yard. Sadie
of course enjoyed perching on the rocks. Despite all the distractions of the
dogs in the other yard barking and playing they both kept their eyes on me. Max
took this very seriously and wouldn't move an inch until I called him to me.
After a few rounds of this I released them and they both went back to some more
exploring. Sadie relaxed by the fence while Max toured around the yard with his
nose glued to the ground.
Teddy and Kane were the stars of one big
epic playgroup this morning! It was nice to have Teddy visit with us on a
Wednesday since he had the chance to meet some new faces and boy was he excited
to meet Kane! In usual fashion, Kane started whipping around the yard and this
sent Teddy straight into an excited state of herding. Usually he is the one who
has to get the party started but not today; Kane took care of getting everyone
involved and soon enough everyone was joining in the chase after Teddy and Kane.
I took a step back and let the chaos unfold before my eyes, there were dogs
whipping around everywhere and mud flying in the air, but it was amazing to see
them run and play without a care in the world! At one point I looked over and
Tucker was rolling around in the mud, Magic, Justice and Vega were having a
chatty meeting at the agility yard all the while Teddy and Kane were still
running circles around everyone!
Chloe spent most of her morning running
around and wrestling with new pal Tango! These two were literally inseparable
from the moment they stepped paw outside and had the most fun whipping around
the yard! It was impossible to keep Chloe out of the puddles today; she enjoyed
jumping in them so much that I just let them go and have fun! Like I could even
catch up to the two of them, they were off in their own little world of doggy
fun! Finnigan joined in for a few rounds of chase around the yard as well. He
loves his pal Chloe and tried his best to keep up with her and Tango, but they
were fast. So he opted out and decided to roam around the yard instead and
collect the toys. He eventually made his way over to the pool that still had
some collected rain in there and he decided that it looked clean enough to
fully submerge himself in. I didn’t stand a chance to deter him away; I think
someone is looking forward to summer!
Speaking of puddles, daycare pals Oakley
and Bella joined Luna for a trail walk this morning and the first thing Bella
decided to do was submerge herself in the first puddle she saw along the trail. I couldn’t keep any of the pups out of the water today! Oakley found this quite
amusing to watch, but made sure she meticulously went around the puddle to
ensure she didn’t get her feet wet! Bella and Oakley had some fantastic
entertainment this morning as they watched Chloe and Tango run circles around
them. Oakley couldn’t help but follow them with her eyes and had the biggest
grin on her face. She was very pleased that the sun had come out just in time
and she was able to sunbathe while watching the show. She was so pre-occupied
that she didn’t bother to make her way over and stay by my side for group like
she sometimes likes to do. Bella took her time at first to explore the yard
with her nose to the ground, but she couldn’t help but join in for a few rounds
of wrestle with Chloe and Tango because they looked like they were having so
much fun!
Kouza loved the feeling of the warm sun
beaming down on her today, it was such a nice change to all of the rain we’ve
been having lately. This gave her the motivation to explore every inch of that
yard today, and she was motoring around like she was on a mission. I finally
caught up to her in the far yard and she happily accepted some head rubs. After
a morning outside, she was ready to head back in for a rest and to snack on a
few carrots. It wasn’t long after that that she was heading up front for her
extra attention session, her favourite part of the day; she was a busy girl
today!
I was excited to see little ones Amber and
Iris back for another day of fun! Iris always greets me with the biggest smile
and a few kisses to the cheek to say hello. Amber on the other hand is still
somewhat cautious and wasn’t handing out free kisses just yet but has still
come a long way! Their little legs were tired from a morning walk along the
trail, but after a quick rest in their kennel, they were ready to head outside
again, but this time with rest of the small dog clan! They both happily
followed me around the yard and stayed close to my side most of the morning.
Iris was waiting for her chance to have me kneel down for some more cuddles and
Amber was happy to stay close to her confident sister.
Jack and Maggie were full of beans today,
both perky first thing this morning and ready to start their day with their
first rotation outside. They love all the attention they get when they are here
and even more so love their interactions with their four-legged friends. They
especially loved little Amber and Iris since they are both so calm and gentle
and are the perfect friends to hang out with on this beautiful sunny morning. They were in the mood to explore today, and they happily followed Kouza and
Timbits who were already heading for the far yard. After a morning trail walk
and some fun with their friends, they were ready to head back inside for some much-needed
rest and of course some lunchtime cookies.
Coco and Timbits were back again and I am
always excited to see these two curious faces greet me from their kennel door. First ones down the hall and out into the yard as usual, these two are always
on a mission to sniff and explore the yard and make sure they are the first
ones to do so. Tim was on the move and raced Kouza out into the far yard with
Jack and Maggie trailing not too far behind. Coco decided that she would stay
up front and found the perfect spot to sit and soak up the sun! Creatures of
habit these two are but we wouldn’t change it for the world!
