Oreo is having such a lovely time here at T&T! She’s
been in the company of some happy dogs, and it’s a great fit for her! Oreo was
all smiles out in the yard this morning. She went and said hello to the other
dogs before having a good sniff and look around the yard. I went and have her a
pet on the head and she flashed her big doggy grin back at me. She has the best
happy face! Next, we went out into the adjacent yard, where there were lots of
wet, grassy smells to take in. She roamed around the perimeter of the yard,
following the fence where the grass is longest. Some of the more playful pups
ran past and Oreo stopped her explorations to watch them wrestle, when Kimi the
husky caught her attention. Oreo made her way over to Kimi, who was peeking
into the agility tunnel and splashing her paws in the puddles. Oreo followed
suit, and had a look through the tunnel and wandered over to the puddle on the
other side of the yard. When the flash of running dogs flew by, Oreo started to
watch again and even hopped over to get up close to the action. She looked like
she might consider joining in, but then opted to come back and see me for a
good pet. Who can resist a head massage? Oreo was happy to head back inside and
have a little rest before walk time and afternoon groups rolled around. In the yard this afternoon, Oreo found the jolly ball, and she couldn't have been more excited. She carried the big red ball around, shaking it and tossing it so that she could chase after it and pick it up again. She gave it up for me to toss for her a couple of times, and she raced across the yard with each throw. Oreo was full of beans for the jolly ball! (more pictures of Oreo at the end!)
Kimi was quite the explorer out in the yard today. She put
her nose to the ground and followed it through grass, puddles and tunnels. She
turned her nose up to the wind, catching the scents and following them around
the yard. She was interrupted in the grass yard, though when some of her
friends went flying by in a game of chase. Kimi wasn’t sure she wanted to join,
but she definitely wanted to give them her two cents! Kimi followed Charlotte
the Golden and Lola the Husky towards the agility tunnel, where Charlotte was
hiding from Lola. Kimi went to one end of the tunnel and Lola to the other, and
the girls stood on either side waiting for Charlotte to try and escape.
Eventually, she did escape the tunnel, and Kimi hopped around as the girls
wrestled, offering her referee expertise. When the chase resumed, Kimi went to
spend some more time exploring around in the grass. She said hello to me before
moving back toward the gravel yard, where she met up with Cai. This big
Shepherd was determined to get Kimi playing, but she let him know that she had
some other serious business to attend to. When it was time to head in, Kimi
went and curled up on her mat and had a rest before walks and afternoon group
time.
Percy met up with another daycare pal during his group time
today, Sammy the Labradoodle. He and Sammy have crossed paths before, but it’s
been a little while and Percy spent some time getting reacquainted with her. I
went and got a ball from the other yard and Percy was over the moon excited! He
bumped into Sammy, as if to say “look, a ball!”. I threw the ball for Percy and
he chased after it as fast as his legs would carry him. Sammy stayed put,
though and watched her friend fly around the yard with the ball snug between
his teeth. While Percy dropped the ball and picked it back up for himself,
Sammy wandered to the other side of the yard to meet up with a new friend. She
met up with Nyxx the Husky, who was very keen on Sammy. He gave her lots of
kisses on her nose and cheek, and Sammy sat and played hard to get! Nyxx pawed
her playfully and said a few “woooo’s!” to entice her to play, but Sammy wasn’t
convinced quite yet. Percy came back over with his ball, and Nyxx decided that
he’d try his hand at snatching it up from Percy. The boys ran around together,
playing keep away from one another. That’s when Sammy decided that it was play
time, and went over to get Nyxx’s attention. She was successful, and they
pounced, pawed and danced around together until it was time to head back in for
the time being.
Mocha took her place at her favourite doorstep as soon as we
entered the yard for group time today. She was quite happy that Issy was able
to join her outside again, but decided to watch her sister roam around from a
distance. Issy had made her way around the yard, saying hello to her friends
and eventually to me. Mocha stayed put by the door, even though I encouraged
her to come and join us. Instead of coming to join the group, the group went
over to see Mocha! Nyxx, Tsavo , Perct and Issy all went to give her a nudge to
encourage Mocha to stretch her legs. She said hello to everyone and followed
their lead, finally making her way from the step. Issy let Mocha be and went to
see her grandson, Nyxx. She watched as he trotted around, following him from
one end of the yard to the other. It’s so nice to see that she’s feeling back
to normal this week!
Boris was absolutely full of beans today, as usual! He was
pawing playfully at Tasha, trying to encourage her to play, but she wasn’t
quite ready yet. I went to find a toy instead, and Boris was thrilled when I
came back with an orange ball in hand. Boris flew after the ball every time I
threw it, picked it up and ran straight back to me for more. Meanwhile, Tasha
was on the other side of the yard, sniffing around and saying hello to Merida,
Isis and Sky. Boris and I continued to play ball for a while, until he spotted
Sky sitting on the doorstep. She was just relaxing there, but Boris decided
that she was going to play with him, no matter what! Sky didn’t budge from her
post, but that didn’t bother Boris at all and he tried to get her to wrestle
right there. Boris pounced and pawed at Sky, but she didn’t give in just yet.
Tasha came to see what all the fuss was about, and she joined her son in pawing
at Sky. Eventually she gave in to their request to play, and they had a little
wrestling match. When Sky and Tasha were finished their games, Boris went back
to playing ball with me for the rest of our time outside together.
Nanook was just in his glory this morning
as he headed out the door with a pack full of our silly regular daycare guests!
He remembered most of the faces since he has been boarding with us for a while
now and has made some special bonds with some of the other small dog guests. He
especially loves little Merlin, these two always seem to gravitate towards one
another when out in the yard and even though it was a busy yard full of small
wiggly bodies, the spotted one another and immediately darted after one another
and met up in the middle of the yard. Merlin’s whole body started to vibrate in
anticipation for Nanook to make the first move and Nanook excitedly nudged his
body against Merlin’s as an invite to play! Nanook absolutely loves his extra attention with us up
front. He raced down the hall and danced at the door waiting for me to catch up
and open it for him. He did a few laps of the reception area before stopping to
look at me is if to ask “well, where are the treats?” This boy is completely
treat crazy. I had him show off his sits and downs to earn the little tid bits I
had waiting for him. He then showed off his incredible catching skills. I don’t
think he missed a single treat I tossed his way. After some catch I got out the
treat puzzle that he enjoys so much. Nanook immediately set about pawing and
nosing at the moving pieces to get at the goodies I hid inside.
Coco and Timbits were excited to be back
this morning for another fun-filled day with all of their favourite friends.
Coco was especially excited that there wasn’t that heavy downpour of rain like
we had the day before. But she still cautiously made her way out into the yard
to make sure the coast was clear anyways. Timbits on the other hand has no fear
or knows no boundaries, he is just here to have a good time and especially on a
beautiful warm morning like today. He immediately spotted little Cloud out in
the yard and remembered how much he adored playing with him. They both picked
up from last time and started an epic wrestle all across the yard! Much like
Tim, Cloud always makes the most of his time here and is always the centre of
everyone’s attention; everyone wants to play with Cloud! While Cloud and Tim
tumbled across the yard, Coco decided that she would sit this one out and
watched them from the front yard; she was in good company with Bella and Lola
around!
Miko looked extra adorable with his new
haircut, cuter than ever if that’s even possible! But it was the same
rambunctious and clever Miko under that beautiful soft haircut of his and he
was ready to play. He battled Tim for a bit to get Cloud’s attention and to no
surprise; they are three of the silliest boys out there! But when Cloud’s
attention was distracted, he wiggled his way in between the rest of his friends
to see if he could get a rise out of anyone else. And of course he was having
so much fun outside, that he was the last one to come in! It wouldn’t be a
regular day if we weren’t chasing Miko to come back inside, clever one that one
is!
Last but certainly not least, precious Pug
sisters Lola and Pearl were the last daycare friends to round out this playful
and packed small-dog group. They always bring such a calm and fun-loving energy
to their groups! Lola took one look out into the yard and saw that there was
still a big puddle of rain out there and right then she knew that she would be
spending her time up front. Luckily the sun was shining and she had Julie to
keep her company by the door, so she was golden for the rest of the morning!
Pearl on the other hand was ready for her usual laps around the yard, so many
smells to sniff and yard to explore. But there were many obstacles in her way,
lots of moving bodies around that she had to dodge but she enjoyed the
challenge and was just about ready for a rest by the time she made it back from
the opposite side of the yard to join her sister Lola.
Max and Sadie seem to be unusually calm
these past few days, they don’t seem to have the desire to engage in their epic
wrestles lately. Max’s nose is glued to the ground and has been enjoying his
time exploring the yard. His curiosity grew with the spring melt and there is
so much to see now that all of the snow has melted! Sadie of course doesn’t
mind that her brother seems distracted, this gives her the opportunity to perch
herself from rock to rock and have the perfect view of the yard and the field.
Not to mention it was the perfect weather to just lounge and feel the nice breeze
in between her ears. Max and Sadie were the perfect company to have this
morning, everything was so quiet that you could hear all the birds chirping and
I think they enjoyed their time relaxing. But you never know what will come of their
next outing; I know their playful side is just bursting at the seams!
