Mercedey was in the best spirits today, and it was the first
day that I really saw her completely come out of her shell! She was still a bit camera
shy at first, but then she completely warmed up to me when I put the camera
away and offered cuddles. I took a seat down beside her and gently called her
name over and she happily came over and enjoyed endless amounts of chin
scratches and head rubs. Then Newton and Charotte saw how much affection she
was getting and made their way over as well. She didn’t even budge when they
galloped over and she moved over slightly so I could pet the three of them
altogether! She also got to meet daycare pals Percy and Cai and enjoyed a few
laps around the yard with them!
Percy was excited to meet Mercedey out in the yard today, as
we all know he is a very social boy and had to make sure he made his way over
to Mercedey and give her a big sloppy kiss to the face. But he was easily
enticed away with the ball, Percy never misses an opportunity to play fetch.
And he had an unexpected partner today, Luna! Luna couldn’t help but get all
excited when she met Percy, his fun-loving energy had her jumping up in joy
after that ball! Mr. Cai was busy circling around the yard, he wanted to make
sure he made up for lost time and sniffed every edge of that yard. Only
stopping every once in a while to give me a kiss and introduce himself to
Mercedey. Apart from Percy and Luna jumping for the ball, it was a fairly quiet
group and everyone was enjoying the beautiful sun.
Kimi had a blast this morning playing with frisky husky pals Nyxx, Lola and Icarus. You can always count on a good time when these silly huskies pair up and decide to tear up the yard! It is always a hit or miss with Kimi, some days she prefers to relax on her own, and some days she is as wild as ever and today was definitely a playful day! Little Icarus was whipping around the yard and Kimi couldn’t help but join the others on the grand chase after him. Especially when he made his way in and out of the tunnel, she could hardly contain her excitement to see which end he would emerge from and her tag wagged furiously back and forth!
Issy and Mocha were happy to see that bright shining sun
this morning and were eager as ever to head out on their morning trail walk. In
fact, this is when Mocha gets most excited, and she wiggles and howls in anticipation until we are out that door and on the trail! A short while later
they were back out again soaking up the sun with their husky pals. Of course,
Mocha found the best seat in the house and lounged out in the sun away from the
chaos and enjoyed the occasional head rub. Issy, on the other hand can’t stay
still that long and wanted to make sure she got her usual laps in. She just
made sure to dodge the paths of Kimi and Nyxx who were chasing after Lola and
Icarus!
Daycare pals Tsavo, Jemma and Spencer had a fantastic time out
in the yard this morning. This was my group full of fetch-loving dogs!
Everyone was leaping in and out of the air to catch all the toys that were coming
their way. While Spencer was exploring the yard, he came across the stuffed teddy
bear and immediately snatched it up before anyone else could. He was very proud
of that teddy and was reluctant to give it up. He only dropped it to wrestle
around with tango and this gave Jemma the opportunity to swoop in and steal it!
Jemma got some good air this morning, she was jumping up left, right and centre
to catch the teddy, ball or Frisbee. But much like Spencer, she couldn’t resist
a good wrestle with Tango either and soon enough she was rolling around on the
ground pawing at Tsavo and Tango from above. Tsavo had a great time running
around with Charly today, every time Charly went to go catch the Frisbee, Tsavo
would excitedly follow her around and see if she could entice her to play.
Coco is so happy to have the sun back. After these weeks of dreary weather, she was so pleased to simply relax in the warmth. She found a path of stones that the sun had already heated up and got comfy. Coco loves to sprawl out on the warm ground, almost like she’s getting a hot stone massage, and take a nap. Timbits keeps quite busy this time of year with all the smells. He is a very nosey guy, digging at all the grass, mud, and rocks. He enjoys burying his muzzle in the ground and picking up on all the smells beneath the soil. He was happy to come across Coco on his tour around the yard. He politely asked her to play, which got her up from her nap. They briefly danced around before jumping all over me asking for attention. I was more than happy to give the duo some pats and cuddles before they set off to explore as a team.
Maya was rather perky today. She was excited to get out in the yard and meet up with some energetic visitors. Maya enjoyed the company of Missy, Bella and Jake. These bigger small dogs zipped and zoomed around together for a quick minute before settling in to sniff and explore. Maya had made her way all the way to the back fence in the bigger portion of the yard to explore. When she realized how far away Rocky was, she darted back to him to check up. He was excited to see his sister. So excited that he got up from his nap to wander over to her. He then got comfy again in the sun next to Coco who was napping. Just as he settled in, little Chase wandered over to Rocky to say hello. He danced around Rocky, and ended up frolicking by his side for a while. Rocky was happy to have the company.
Maggie and Jack are loving their time in the kitchen. It has become a second home to them! They love watching the staff members come and go as they lay in their beds. During lunchtime they are very happy to accept some pets and cuddles as they’re curled up in their beds, too. In the yard the pair were pleased about the warm sunshine. They made sure to avoid the shady patches, wandering only in the big portion of the yard where the warm rays were shining. Jack kept very busy with his nose in the long grass along the perimeter and around the rocks, while Maggie was more keen on the soft soil. They moseyed around apart, and then met up and wandered side by side. After adventures in the big yard they made their way back to the gravel yard where Jack met up with Maya. He thought she was rather fascinating, and flirted with her a bunch. Maggie was happy to hang out with me while he was doing this, enjoying as many pets and cuddles as possible before it was time to head back indoors. After Maggie and Jack's big day of play they were so excited to spend some one on one time with me up front. Although they do get a lot of extra attention throughout their day outdoors and in the kitchen, they love sitting up in the reception area. Jack is a big fan of the chair while Maggie prefers to sit on laps. We had such a good cuddle session. The pair enjoyed napping in good company as well as playing around with some toys.
Max was so full of energy today! I really got him racing around when I uncovered a nice Frisbee from the long grass along the perimeter of the yard. He was leaping and soaring in front of me, asking me to throw it. As I launched it across the yard, he took off with his legs fully extended racing as fast as he could. He was very quick to retrieve it and bring it back to me. He loved showing the Frisbee to Sadie, trying his hardest to get her involved after each retrieval. With little success, Max happily continued to play fetch with me. Sadie on the other hand was busy being a vegetarian. She loves the taste of the fresh grass. I got her distracted enough to stop eating it and come hang out with me on the rock and then the picnic table. She had some grass hanging from her mouth throughout our snuggles, looking a bit like a beard, which I thought was funny. After I cleaned her up I enjoyed some good Sadie snuggles. Max wasn’t too far behind, of course, scooting his way between Sadie and I to give me bundles of kisses and love.
Teddy loved his group today. It was mostly huskies along with some other energetic friends. He was very busy the entire time racing around after the hooligans. He made a good friend today, Icarus, the Siberian husky puppy. Icarus was so fascinated with Teddy’s never ending racing around the yard. He was sure to stay hot on Teddy’s tail, trying his hardest to keep up to the running superstar. Teddy made a big game of this, running even faster and darting around all the obstacles trying to shake Icarus. He finally turned around and gave Icarus a good sniff over and realized he was a good option for a friend. They had a good time dancing and playing before a big race distracted Teddy across the yard. He was quick to leave Icarus and continue racing after all his other mates. After burning off all his energy, Teddy was happy to hang out with me enjoying some pets and cuddles before heading indoors for an afternoon nap.
