Mercedey has been enjoying her visit with us and she is such
a beautiful and loving girl. Of course she is very curious about her
surroundings and has been shy at times when meeting new faces, but once she was
out in the yard with some of our other four-legged guests, her confidence grew
and she made herself right at home. She found it quite amusing to watch
Charlotte and Juno run laps around the yard and excitedly play in the agility
tunnel but just as happy to have quiet ladies Luna and Sophie keep her company without
too much commotion. Mercedey loved exploring the agility yard and let her nose
lead the way, and I must say she is an extremely obedient girl coming over every
time I called her name, and I of course I greeted her with lots of love when she
came over!
Nymeria our frisky red-headed guest was eager to start her
day with all her favourite friends, as you can imagine she is quite the social
girl and couldn’t wait to spend another fun-filled day in our care! After her
morning trail walk, she was heading out for a play session with Husky pals
Kimi, Icarus and best pal Lola. Nymeria and Lola were very excited to meet
little Icarus who started leaping and bounding across the yard to see if he
could get their attention. Well he sure did, in fact he got the attention of
the whole group and soon enough Nymeria and Kimi were trying to keep with this
little guy! Poor Kimi was winded after what seemed like a million laps around
the yard and decided to stay still in the middle of the yard to see if that
tactic worked. Unlike Kimi, Nymeria and Lola tried to keep up as best they
could and were out of breath trying to keep up with the young one. Then
everyone gathered around the agility tunnel and started their usual Husky
meeting there, lots of singing and playing to be had!
Kouza was in great spirits this morning and was waiting
patiently at the front of her kennel door when I arrived bright and early this
morning. She was very perky and eager to get her breakfast and a rotation
outside in! With a full belly, she followed me and the rest of the little ones
out into the yard, only to be surprised by the wet snowfall! Kouza didn’t mind,
she was just happy to be outside and even more excited to head up front for a
walk and then for her extra attention session! Kouza was in a very cuddly mood today. I sat on the floor with her while she wandered around a bit, enjoying the freedom of no cone on her head. She eventually made her way over to me where I started by giving her some good hip rubs, she danced her feet side to side enjoying every second of it. I moved on to her neck and ear, which Kouza melted into my hands for. she tilted her head side to side leaning into the ear scratch. She thanked me with loads of kisses. She heard a noise down the hall and got distracted from all the cuddles and finished off her time by exploring around the room.
Jack and Maggie were the first
faces I saw this morning and they happily greeted me from the kitchen with
smiling faces and followed me outside for their first outing! A short while
later they joined me again along with Kouza and had the same look of disbelief
when they saw snow falling in May! But there were some new faces to their group
that they were excited to meet and their attention quickly turned to little
Shelby and Merida. There were lots of greetings and nose nuzzling to be had! Both Maggie
and Jack followed me out into the far yard to do some exploring, Maggie was
excited to find her favourite stuffy out in the yard but found it much to soggy
to play with. After a morning outside in this weather, they were ready to head
back to warm and cozy beds for a rest, but not for long because next they were
due for their extra attention session!
Finn was happy to meet fetch-loving Molly the Golden out in
the yard today, he knew he was going to have some fierce competition for the
toys when he saw her grinning face. And sure enough they both raced towards the
black bone to see who could reach it first. They both made it at the exact same
time and this caused an epic tug of war battle. Both relentless, they refused
to let go and held on to opposite ends of the bone until Finn finally won and
ran away with the bone in his mouth. Luckily for Molly, Finn lost interest fast
and was off running around with Marley and left the bone for Molly to happily
find later!
My favourite brother-sister duo Max and Sadie was up next
for their turn to play outside. And in usual fashion, Max started running laps
around the yard in excitement while Sadie scoped out the yard to see which rock
she was going to perch on today. But then they were distracted by Kinsey who
was walking Summit along the back trail and they excitedly watched as they walked the path that was visible from the yard. Once out of sight, they were back to their usual ways,
Sadie ran over to her favourite rock and Max though that looked like fun, so he
jumped up on the picnic table to make sure that he was still the tallest in the
yard! Some things never change with these two!
