Miss Allie cat was pleased to have some alone time after spending the night with our other two cat guests. After having some yummy breakfast she settled into the hammock for a snooze. I woke her up later this afternoon for some photos and games. She can never resist a game of catch with the feather toy. Although she didn't feel the need to get up she still reached and grabbed for the toy as I flicked it around. We played this game for several minutes before she caught the toy and wouldn't let go. Allie playfully kicked and chewed on the toy to "kill" it.

Boris and Tasha had so much fun with their usual daycare friends today! We started off play time in the indoor playroom this morning, where lots of running and wrestling took place. Sky the husky was waiting for her best friend Boris when he burst through the door into the playroom. He went immediately to Sky and she pawed him playfully in the face! This sparked a whole pile of Husky shenanigans, and Boris, Tasha, Sky and Isis flew back and forth across the room in a big game of chase. After many laps of the room, Boris noticed Charly playing with a Kong, and went over to see if she’d let him have a turn. She wasn’t quite ready to share, which made it into a game for Boris!
Later on in the day, we went outside with the same group of pals, plus Merida and Percy. Percy and Charly immediately both locked eyes on the same blue rubber toy, and ran as fast as possible towards it. I managed to get to it before Percy and he jumped up, anticipating the upcoming game of fetch. I threw the toy and Percy and Charly raced across the yard in a flash. We played a few rounds of fetch, and both Percy and Charly caught the toy a couple of times. Eventually, Charly branched off to go and see Boris and Tasha across the yard, while Percy went to run through the tunnel with his toy in his mouth. Meanwhile, Boris, Tasha and Merida were pawing playfully to one another! Merida would hop up on Boris playfully, which got Tasha and Sky excited too.

Teddie and Kizmet were quite the social butterflies in the yard today. They each went their separate ways when we first entered the yard. Kizmet went to sniff around in the long grass by the fence, while Teddie went to visit with Sophie and Birdie. After following his nose all the way back around through the gate, Kizmet came across the agility jump. He stood and looked at it for a few minutes, until I took out a treat and started to hop back and forth across it. Kizmet followed my lead and leapt over the bar! I gave him the treat as a reward and Kiz turned around and hopped back over again. Meanwhile, Teddie was wandering the yard with his friends Bear and Casper. The boys put their heads together and sniffed out some interesting smells in the taller sprouts of grass. Kizmet came over to see Teddie and the boys stuck together, nosing around and smelling the dandelions. I gave the boys lots of pets and back scratches while we watched some of the other hooligans run around the yard. The boys were happy to have a rest on their comfy beds until the next group time rolled around.

Birdie was a popular girl in her group today! Lab brothers Fez and Rex took turns playing with Birdie throughout their group time. We started out playing fetch, and Rex and Birdie made quite the rivals! They each flew across the yard over and over again, chasing after the blue rubber toy. Birdie is such a quick girl, but Rex managed to snag the toy out of the air a few times too. Meanwhile, Fez was roaming around the yard, sniffing away at the grass and splashing through the occasional puddle left from yesterday’s rain. Rex also decided to go roam around a little bit, while Birdie and I continued to play fetch together. Fez came across the kiddie pool and Rex ran over to have a look too. He climbed into the pool and started digging away at the few inches of water, while Fez stood beside him getting splashed. Fez absolutely loves the water, whether it’s in a puddle, in his bowl, or being sprayed by his brother. Later on during our group outing, I saw Fez plop himself down in a puddle, where he sat for a minute to watch the other dogs. I kept an eye on him as I continued tossing the toy for Birdie. I tried to spice things up a bit, and threw the toy over the agility jump, sending Birdie leaping over it like a natural acrobat. She seemed to enjoy the jump, and went back and forth over it a few more times. As we started to make our way back over towards the door to inside, Fez and Birdie met up and were instant friends! She play-bowed to Fez, pouncing around and inviting him to play, and Fez nuzzled her ear in return. So cute!

My dear friend Sophie did a little bit of everything in the yard today. She started out sniffing and exploring around the grass and puddles with her group-mates. She then made her way through the gate towards the agility jump, where I encouraged her to give it a try! Sophie was even more eager to give the jump a go when she saw me standing on the other side with a treat in my hand! After a couple of jumps, Sophie was ready for some pets and cuddles, as always. She huddled up right next to me and I pet her head for as long as she wanted. She always flashes the biggest, cutest smile when it’s snuggle time! When she had had enough love, I offered Sophie a toy, which she sniffed thoroughly. She noticed that some of the other dogs were also interested in the toy, and decided to take it and walk around the yard. Once Sophie put the toy down, I went and got it and gave it a toss for the group. Although Sophie wasn’t too keen on actually retrieving the toy, she had a blast chasing after it!

Max and Sadie were (as usual) beyond excited when they saw me approach with leashes in my hands! They absolutely love walk time, and today was no exception. The sun came out to shine on the field as we walked around the path, and Max and Sadie soaked up every second of it. They were such good doggies when it came time to go back in their kennel, too. I came back shortly after for their first group outing, and Max and Sadie trotted out the door to explore the yard. They were both in very cuddly moods today, though I did run around to see if they’d like to play first. They both politely declined and continued venturing through the grass, onto the rocks and picnic table. I went to see Sadie as she was perched on top of her usual rock, and she smothered me with kisses. Max saw us and came to join in. He nuzzled right up next to me, and I stayed there to pet him for a minute until I realized he was trying to nose the treat out of my sweater pocket! I told him he could have the treat if he did a trick, and led him over to the agility jump. Max knew exactly what to do and flew over the bar a few times. Sadie came and joined us on the other side of the fence and I gave them each a piece of cookie before heading back inside.

Kai was just full of beans today; she decided that today was the day that she was going to get silly with new friend Colin. She didn’t have much of a choice, Colin was eyeing her from the moment he got out in the yard and Kai was just waiting for him to make the first move. With a quick paw to the back, Kai and Colin were up on their hind legs dancing up a storm while Kodi and Kenzie watched with amusement below. It’s always nice to see Kai’s playful side come out, we all know she has it in her but she often prefers to stay cool, calm and collected until the right dog comes along and fires her up! After a morning of play, she was ready to head back in and up front for her extra attention session to get her daily dose of cuddles, since she was too busy playing outside! Kai knows the routine well and started her happy dance in the kennel when she saw me coming down the hall to get her. She did a full body wiggle all the way down the hall to the front reception. I tried offering her a cookie but she turned her nose up at it, she knew she could get better, and of course she was right. I grabbed her a cookie from the cookie jar and she munched it up.  She hung our with me for a little while cuddling before she insisted on going outside. She loved meandering through the long grass, and made sure to have a good roll to scratch her back. We continued to explore the front yard, she was very interested in one of the big rocks in the parking lot. She climbed up on top of it like the queen she is.

Kodi greeted me this morning with that great big infamous smile of his and sister Kenzie right by his side with her little bum wiggling in excitement; they gave me a chuckle first thing this morning! Business as usual outside, Kodi was the star of his group and provided much entertainment for his friends as he started whipping around the yard in excitement. Kenzie was already off exploring the grassy yard; these two never miss a beat. Kodi loves to splash around in the puddles and see if he could entice the others to chase him. Sancho started to pursue him, but then got preoccupied with the blue bone he was chasing. I called Kodi over to follow me to where Kenzie was exploring the yard and he excitedly leaped towards me making sure to show me all of his teeth. I hung out with Kenzie the rest of the morning and showered her with affection as we watched her silly brother try to join in the wrestle with Kai and Colin.

Tuesdays means two of our favorite daycare pug ladies Lola and Pearl are in for a day of fun. Pearl could hardly wait to bust out of her kennel door and out into the yard so she could go straight into her usual exploration mode. Lola on the other hand was slightly slower making her way out the door and decided to take a seat at the door with Julie so she could assess the situation outside first before making her way out into the yard. Clear, she thought and wobbled over to the grassy yard to say hello to new faces Abby and Dudley. By that point Pearl was already out into the far yard with Miko, letting her little nose lead the way. Miko tried his best to intercept Pearl along her way to try and entice her to a wrestle but she is quick and was able to dodge his floppy paws! When Miko couldn’t catch Pearl, he trotted over to see if he could entice Dudley to a match, they are the perfectly sized friends and Dudley loved the attention he was getting from Miko. Miko has been exceptionally cuddly lately, although you can hardly ever catch the little guy, lately he has been making his way over to my lap mid-play for some belly-rubs, he is just the cutest!

Little Merlin was also very curious to meet Dudley the Shih Tzu out in the yard today as well, everyone is drawn to the new faces. Merlin is another one that is hard to keep up with in the yard; he is always touring around with his little nose glued to the ground. But he is also very obedient and will immediately sit and pose for a pretty picture when you call his name but you better be quick because before you know it he will be off touring around the yard again! In fact I had a group of curious pups all around today, we all know how much Coco and Timbits love a few good laps of the yard especially with their strong noses leading the way. Coco didn’t want to venture out too far into the yard however; it was still much too wet from the days rain before. She opted to stay closer to the door with Resa and Lola and make her rounds there. Not Timbits, he raced little Miko all the way out into the far yard and couldn’t be bothered to get his little feet wet! I love when I call Tim’s name and he looks up at me with the most innocent eyes, he is such a handsome boy! Even Kouza decided that it was a beautiful morning to take a leisurely stroll. She made her way over to where the long blades of grass were poking through the fence and started licking off the morning dew. She was having such a nice time outside that she didn’t want to come back in! Luckily it was time for her extra attention session and she was excited to get endless amounts of head-rubs and munch on some veggies! Although everyone was busy scattered across the yard sniffing away, it ended up being a beautiful day and our small guests were very happy that we ended up with sun and not rain!
