It’s always nice to see Allie back in the cat room for a
visit. She was taking full advantage of having the room to herself and trying
out the different cat trees. She was snoozing in the hammock when I entered the
cattery this morning to tidy up and feed her some breakfast. I think she
approves of our new cat tree, as I found her high a top it watching us through the
window throughout the day. She could watch the dogs go through the hall and
keep herself busy all day. I definitely think this will be Allie’s new favourite
perch during her stay. This afternoon as I passed by the cat room Allie was
curled up in the cozy blue bed taking a nap (as predicted, she loves the blue
bed even though she didn’t lay in it at home!).
Max and Sadie were such great dogs before heading out in the
yard today. They are wonderful with their commands, and very patient might I
add. The pair did an amazing sit stay while they watched me open their kennel,
opening the door to the yard and a brief wait period. When I finally gave them
the okay they came barreling out the door with smiles on their faces. They
instantly began looping around the yards with their noses to the ground,
investigating the premises. Max was quite eager to show off his agility skills
and began leaping over the jump without even being asked. We played around on
the jump for a while which he really enjoyed, however I think he enjoyed the
praise after the jumps more. Meanwhile, Sadie was enjoying herself a nice snack.
She loves chomping on the grass. With some convincing she followed me into the
yard for a brief game of fetch. She prefers to prance after the ball then bat
it around rather than capturing it and returning it. Sadies ball game was
interrupted when Max came swooping in at full speed. The pair then set off for
some of their normal rough housing shenanigans. Max got Sadie looping through
the tunnel and racing around with him. She took a break when she realized how
fascinating the empty pool was. Sadie dug and scratched and the pool drying to
figure out what may be under it. She was distracted by Max and I cuddling on
the picnic table and left the pool to join. We finished off our outdoor time
with loads of team cuddles on the famous picnic table.
Teddy loved his group today! There were so many dogs that he
was fascinated by. Icarus the husky puppy was beyond intrigued by Teddy. He
raced around the yard after Teddy which really through him off. The tables
turned when Teddy leapt backwards and began bolting after Icarus. They continued
this game of tag for a while until a whole bunch of other dogs joined in. Teddy
was happy to loop after many furry friends as they raced around the yard. When
Teddy spotted fellow group mate racing around in the long grass, he insisted on
joining in. He found himself knee deep in a puddle which he was thrilled about.
He wasn’t so thrilled when we brought him into the other yard and hosed him
off. Despite his lack of enthusiasm, he was a very good boy. After being
cleaned up he a had a lot of fun running around in the dry grassy yard. He
loved playing around with his friends and investigating the yard until it was
time to come indoors.
I barely recognized Spencer when he arrived this morning; He
looks like a whole new pup! He was excited to get out and meet a whole new
group of friends. He was quick to find his friend Kyah and begin dancing around
with her. Their antics drew the attention of numerous other group mates and
they began to race around. Spencer was fond of Ammo as well as the other
huskies. After a couple laps around the yard, he broke off from the chase to
sniff and explore. Spencer was keen to investigate the long grass around the
perimeter of the yard. He loves burying his muzzle into the blades of grass and
then dashing away with a mouthful of salad. Before it was time to head back
indoors he joined in on some tunnel fun with the group of huskies.
Kai is such a lovely lady. She was very happy to be in a
group with such a busy bunch. All the dogs racing around and playing kept her
very busy. She loved supervising the shenanigans while sticking close to my
side accepting as many pets and cuddles as possible. Kai was happy to have the
company of other humans in the yard too. She loves getting attention. It wasn’t
long before Kai met up with Kyah and the pair began flirting and kissing. It
was really cute to watch the pair enjoy one another’s company. Kai and Kyah
enjoyed each other’s company while supervising the rest of the group. Kai and I
spent half of her extra attention time in the reception area this afternoon. I
set up the treat puzzle with some bits and pieces of milkbones for Kai to paw
at. She’s a smart girl and found all of her prizes very quickly. After some
pets and cuddles, Kai and I went out to the front lawn to hang out on the
grassy hill. Kai laid down for a back rub, which got her feeling very frisky
and excited. She hopped up and grabbed ahold of her leash and started to take
me for a walk! She’s so funny.
Ammo is such a sweet boy. He sure is a busy guy, keeping the
whole group moving at all times. He had so much fun with just about everyone.
He was very focused on the other youngsters in his group who gave him a run for
his money when it came to running and agility. Ammo loved looping around with Teddy
and Icarus. These three are so fast on their feet and very agile. They kept one
another so busy looping through the agility tunnel and even running over it.
Ammo was also very fond of all the huskies, including Justice, Kyah and Magic.
They gave him a bit of a hard time but all in good fun. They had bundles of fun
running around in circles through the long grass. Ammo did find himself a
puddle to splash around in. He was so co-operative when we had to tidy him up.
He isn’t bothered by water what so ever and he is very fond of human attention
making a clean up very easy.
Kimi loved Casper the Samoyed. She met up with him right off
the bat to and began romping around with him. They wrestled around with their paws
up on each other howling and chatting. It didn’t take long for Kimi to get a
little crush and begin flirting with him. He told her off and this got her even
more excited. Finally she got distracted by the huskies on the tunnel and
decided to join in on their fun. She loved howling at Kyah while she lay on top
and then trying to get Justice as he balanced on top. This continued on for a
while until Kimi took a break to investigate the yard on her own.
Daycare pals Jemma and Finnigan were excited to join the
small dog group for a day of fun. These two silly pups of course hit it off
right away with little Pippin who was already out in the far yard chasing after
his favorite red ball; I could hear him hooting and hollering before I even
entered the yard. This got the attention of Finn who is a fetch-fanatic himself
and he ran over to join little Pippin to chase after the ball. The two of them
excitedly jumped up and down from their hind legs as they anxiously waited for
me to throw it. Pippin is a confident little boy and was usually the first one
to the ball! Finn let him have it because soon he was off wrestling with good
pal Jemma. Jemma just wanted to play and wrestle today and was thankful to have
Finn keep her company, the two of them were inseparable most of the morning.
Maya was very curious to know what they were up too and she peaked around the
corner from where she was sitting with brother Rocky when she heard all the squeals
coming from them. Although reserved at times, Maya couldn’t help but run over
to join the wrestle and Jemma and Finn happily accepted her into their group.
Rocky decided that he was going to roam around in the front yard in the tall
blades of grass, but when he saw his sister, Jemma and Finn come racing around
the corner, he quickly made his way back to the door where he found his usual
place to rest.
I was so happy to see my two favorite brothers Teddie and
Kizmet back for a visit with us. They are two of the happiest brothers around
and bring such a positive and fun-loving energy to their groups! But first
things first, they headed out first thing this morning for a trail walk with
new friend Luna, it was a beautiful morning to walk! A short while later, they
were outside surrounded by their favorite friends, lots of familiar faces and
some new ones too! Kizmet was very happy to meet Charly the Golden and followed
her around the yard as she carried her favorite Frisbee in her mouth. But the
real fun happened with Percy, both Teddie and Kiz teamed up together and
invited him to a wrestle. Percy loved the attention from these two; he was
definitely the popular one of the group! If he wasn’t running laps by himself
in and around the agility tunnel, he was trying to steal the toys from Charly
and Nyxx or engaging in a friendly wrestle with Teddie and Kiz; Percy was a
busy boy today!
April really enjoyed
the company of Teddy and Kiz today, but as usual she was mostly glued to my
side since she is a sucker for attention! She was happy to meet the new faces
to her group today but she was mostly concerned of my whereabouts. I took a
seat down beside her and she happily accepted all of the head rubs; she is
always looking for a good pet! But her favorite part of the day was spent
trotting along the back trail with daycare pal Finnigan; April loves to stretch
out her long legs from the night before and was happy to be in good company. April
was more than happy to spend some time in the company of her human friends
during her extra attention time this afternoon. She hung out by Kinsey’s side
and accepted plenty of pets and cuddles. April was even happier when she saw I
had a treat for her! I broke it up into a few smaller pieces and she gladly
munched them all up.
