Allie has been full of beans this visit. When I arrived in the morning and looked into the cat room, she had dragged her bed and carrier into the middle of the room. Maybe she is plotting something, or just having herself a crazy party on her own. She'll be getting some new guests tomorrow the handsome Abyssinian pair. I'm sure Allie will have something to say about that. When I joined her in the cattery to tidy up her mess and get her some breakfast she chatted away, maybe telling me all about her night. I left her alone for the morning to eat in peace and woke her up from a snooze in the hammock a little while later. She was happy to stretch her back and come down for a cuddle. She gave me lots of head butts while I gave her some chin scratches. Later in the afternoon, Allie was ready to play! I swung the feather toy around for her and she pawed and pounced away at it.

After a rainy morning trail walk with Nicki, Max and Sadie lounged on their beds until it was time for their first group outing of the day. The rain had stopped by then and it had warmed up a little bit. This of course meant that Sadie went to lay down and relax in the long grass in the corner of the fence. She sniffed around and sat down for a bit, before hopping up onto her usual spot on the big rock. Max hopped up onto the picnic table and splashed around in the little bit of rain water on its top. Sadie couldn’t help but race over and join her brother on the table. They took turns hopping on and off the table throughout our time outside. While he wasn’t perched with Sadie, Max and I were running and jumping over the agility jump together! He can jump pretty high, and I accidentally knocked the bar off when I attempted to match his height! Max jumped over the space where the bar should have been anyway, and ran right back across when I placed it back on the rung. Sadie came over from the other section of the yard to join us, and both she and Max smothered me in kisses! It’s always a joy to hang out with these sweet dogs.

Chloe, Victory and Ammo made the absolute best play partners today! These three young pups were all in sync with one another’s energy level and play style. Ammo and Victory met up as soon as we entered the yard, wasting no time at all before starting to run around together. Chloe took a few minutes to sniff around before meeting up with Ammo and Victory. She matched their pace seamlessly, and the three musketeers ran around the yards as fast as they could go. After lots of laps and some wrestling, Ammo branched off to meet up with a new friend, Ayla the Husky puppy. She and a few others were wrestling over by the agility tunnel, and Ammo joined in the fun. Meanwhile, Chloe and Victory were still zipping back and forth around from yard to yard, covering each other with drooly kisses. Ammo watched his playmates whip by, and raced over to rejoin his troupe. This group was charged with fun, energetic and happy puppy energy!

Finnigan is such a versatile playmate, and today he joined the small dog group! He and Jake, a fellow mini-doodle, met up instantly upon entering the yard. The boys raced through the gate and into the grassy yard, whipping around the big rocks and through the puddles. Jake turned on a dime, though and went back to see Bella in the gravel yard. Finnigan quickly found the red ball, and stood overtop of it, waiting for someone else to notice. I went over and Finnigan let me throw the ball, and went charging across the yard after it. Meanwhile, Bella and Jake were back on the other side of the fence, where Bella took an interest in the agility jump. She wasn’t quite sure of it at first, so I went over and jumped over the bar a few times to show her what to do. Bella jumped over, and circled back to do it again! It was so cute to see her so excited, lifting her little legs as high as they could go to make it over. I sat down for a little cuddle time with Bella and Jake before going back over to check on Finn. He was very happy to see that I had a cookie in my hand, and gobbled it up in a flash. Finnigan spent the rest of his group time playing with his ball, while Bella and Jake started up a wrestling match together.

Kai is such a sweet and easy going gal that we decided to add her to another group today to change her scenery; she loves meeting new faces and of course she fit right in! She met Sancho the Border Collie and another Cai, also know as Coyote and she really enjoyed their company! Sancho even managed to get a wrestle out of Kai and he brought out the silly side in her. She was smiling from ear to ear this morning, but then again when isn’t she smiling! After a few wrestles with Sancho, she decided to explore the yard and found herself back at the play structure to take cover from the rain. After a morning outside, she was happy to head up front for her extra attention session and the staff spent their lunch hour with her cuddled up on the ground! Kai is always a smiling ray of sunshine. After her group time she trotted up to the front with me for her extra attention. She enjoyed some cuddles and back rubs. Julie and Resa, our resident and staff dogs, joined us up front after their group. Kai wasn't too sure of Julie in her wheelchair and kept a close eye on her. I put the little ones away in the office and continued to spend some one on one time with Kai. I grabbed a couple of treats from the treat jar for her that she immediately sat nicely for me and gave me her paw. It took some encouragement and a lot of paw tosses my way but I eventually got her to lay down for the cookie. Lucky girl got to spend an extra long time upfront with all the staff while we ate lunch together. Kai was quite content to have all those people around her.

Fridays mean Boris and Tasha are back for another fun filled day spent with all of their favorite four-legged friends and they were just as excited as ever. Boris and Tasha know the routine around here, so after they enjoyed their morning trot around the trail, they knew it wouldn’t be long before they were back outside with their usual pack which included Charly and Merida the Goldens and Isis and Sky the Huskies. The six of them have become quite a tribe and there is never a dull moment out in the yard with them. Isis and Sky love to team up together to entice Boris to a wrestle and when Tasha see’s her silly son starting to whip around the yard, she excitedly chases after him and then before you know it, Charly and Merida have joined her. Lots of running, playing and Husky chats to be had when Boris and Tasha are here!

Two pairs of silly brothers joined April out in the yard this morning; Teddie and Kizmet and we welcomed back Rex and Fez! April made sure to make the rounds and introduce herself to the new faces, but then she was right back at my side, her happy spot! April is a sucker for human companionship and she is never far from my side and always carries that big goofy smile of her on her face. After a few laps around the yard with me, she decided to make her way back to the door and hang out with Mocha until it was time to come back in. Nyxx the Husky followed her over and kept the ladies company for part of the morning. Meanwhile Rex and Fez were touring around the yard and, Fez tried his best to keep up to brother Rex, nothing will slow him down! Both Fez and Rex loved meeting sweet Luna in the yard this morning. Separately they both tried to entice her to a wrestle and she loved the attention she was getting from this handsome pair. Fez and Luna roamed the tall blades of grass together along the fence and Rex chased after Nyxx into the far yard. Teddie and Kizmet were the perfect addition to their group, always smiling and up for a play. It was a fairly quiet group, Teddie and Kiz much like the rest were in exploration mode and found themselves happily trotting along the perimeter of the yards. They both looked up at me with fresh wet noses from the morning’s dew! But of course they are always down for a cuddle and when I called their names, they happily trotted over and graciously accepted some back rubs!
April started off her extra attention time behind the desk, hanging out with Kinsey. She seemed to love being right beside her and getting love. We then headed outside for a walk. We enjoyed a wander around the field until April suddenly caught a scent and then we were off on a mission! I'm not sure if it was coincidence or if April really objects to the rain, but as soon as it started to sprinkle April headed back to the front door. Back inside April explored some more and I got out the brush to see if she would enjoy some grooming and she did! She lay beside me while I brushed out her back...it was very relaxing for both of us!
