Groups:

Kaos and Shenzi were both so excited to go outside this morning. They barged out the door and ran as fast as they could into the agility yard. When everyone caught up to them, Kaos ran right up to each dog to say hello. Shenzi wanted to explore a bit first and took a tour around the yard as Koas was socializing. When she was done, she ran back to Kaos and followed her around. It wasn’t too long before these two started to play. Kaos is always filled with energy and it rubs off on Shenzi. They began a game of tag with Hudson and Finnigan and chased them around in circles. By the time the pair stopped to take a break they were both so tired that Shenzi found a spot to lay down. She walked up to me once she caught her breath and gave me lots of kisses. She then turned around and took a nice seat on my toes. I had to get up shortly after and she followed me to the other side of the fence and layed down to relax. Kaos ran up to me every now and then to say hi but she was too full of beans to actually stop and stay for a while. All she wanted to do was play! When I was throwing a toy across the yard to see who wanted to play fetch, Shenzi ran right up to me with a huge smile on her face and chased after it. She rolled it around on the ground for a bit before picking it back up and finding a nice spot to chew on it.

Hudson was the center of attention today in his group. All of the dogs loved him and wanted to be around him the entire time. He has such a playful spirit and it rubs off on the other dogs when he’s outside with them. When he ran into the yard, Finnigan, Kaos and Shenzi all circled around him to try and play. Hudson didn’t know who to play with first so he ran like the speed of light all the way across the yard and the others chased him. Finnigan slowed down while Kaos and Shenzi started playing with Hudson and he took off on his own to explore. He made his way over to the grass part of the yard and sniffed along there. Hudson came over to join him as everyone was taking a little break from playing. It was then when Finnigan found a rope toy hidden in the grass and scooped it up to chew on. He was enjoying himself by ripping off the loose piece of rope that dangled from the end. After a little while of relaxing Finnigan hopped back up and ran over to play with Hudson, the two wrestled as they ran from one side of the yard to the other as a few of the other dogs joined in. Finnigan thought it would be funny to lay down and roll around on the ground as the others ran around him in circles and barked. Hudson ran over to me a bit later and rubbed his side up against me so I could pet it quickly before he took off again.

Oakley and Bella were two of the more calm dogs that were outside today. Bella took off to go sniff around by the grass right as she got outside this morning, while Oakley took her time and wandered around a little bit then came right up to me for cuddles. She’s such a sweetie and is definitely likes being around people a lot. She followed me around most of the time we were outside. Bella stuck to herself mostly at first then began to open up to everyone a little more by saying hi to all of the dogs one by one. Oakley socialized with Bella and I until it was about time to go inside and everyone was over by the door. Bella was watching everyone as they played tag and she seemed very interested. It wasn’t until Finnigan came up to her and started to bounce around her that she knew she wanted to join in with them. Bella wasn't sure she wanted to play until Finnigan started to run off and she chased him as fast as she could while all the others dropped what they were doing to join in as well.

Will has so much energy and he always acts so silly whether he’s outside or just going for a walk. This morning during his walk he was being so goofy and couldn’t stop playing with the other dog on the trail. He kept slowing down then running as fast as he could up to him and jumping up on his back. He then started to grab the leash and tried to walk himself like the independent dog that he is. He was being very entertaining. Outside he was being such a social pup. He was so excited to be outside that he kept running up to each dog and standing around them for a minute before moving on to the next. He then took off to roam around by himself around the yard. He kept walking up to Kai as she was wandering around on her own as well. Kai likes to hang around on her own if she's not too busy playing during group time. She can be quite the social butterfly, going from dog to dog to say hello or to check in, and she always comes to see me, too! Today as she was walking around Will just couldn’t seem to get enough of her and kept running around her in circles and jumping up to try and get her to play with him. Kai seemed to get into it and began to jump around with a big smile on her face. Will pounced around her and was determined to get Kai to chase him across the yard. Will took off running, hoping that she would follow, but Kai decided to come over to see me for some more cuddles instead. She's such a sweetheart and I love spending time with her!

Shyla and Maverick are both so sweet. They're always so affectionate with me when I’m in their kennel with them; they always fight over who gets to sit on my lap as I pet them. Usually Maverick winds up on my lap while Shyla sits on the bed next to us so that I can still pet her, too. When they’re both outside with me though, they would much rather go and explore or play to come see me for snuggles. I called them over when I was sitting on a rock for some cuddles but they were both much too focused on what they were doing. Maverick didn’t even lift up his nose out of the grass while Shyla looked up at me and turned back around to continue sniffing. Shyla seemed to be really interested in one of the new dogs that joined their group this morning and started to get a little playful as they were following her. She jumped around him but then he took off on his own and she ran over to go see Maverick across the yard. It wasn’t until we were all crowding around the door when Maverick and Shyla both wanted some affection. Maverick came as close as he could to me and stood across my legs as Shyla peaked her head in underneath my arm to be pet.

Maggie was very calm today. Some days she's right in the action with the other dogs and sometimes she likes to roam around and be pet. Today she kept to herself as she sniffed around the yard, taking her time as she sniffed everything that her eyes came across. She walked over to the agility tunnel and scoped it out for a bit before heading to some of the holes that the dogs dug and stuck her nose in to sniff it as well. She decided not to make the hole any deeper once she was finished investigating it. Maggie then made her way over to the grass part of the yard and started to sniff around there. She came across a toy bone and I walked over to pick it up to start a game of fetch with her. I held it up in the air to get her attention and once I did I threw it as far as I could to the other end of the yard. She chased after it with a wide open mouth to scoop it up but once she got to it she sniffed it then made her way back over to me and left it on the ground for someone else to get. I sat down with Maggie in the shade and she was very happy to sit at my side. I gave her lots of pets and if I stopped, she would place a gentle paw on my leg, asking me to continue.

Rocky never misses an opportunity to do some sunbathing while he's out in the yard. He took up his customary position by the fence where he was close to both the sun and the shade. Rocky was very happy to sit in his spot for a little while as the other dogs sniffed, roamed and played. I was sitting on a rock in the grassy yard when Maya came up to say hello and visit with me. Rocky must have seen us through the fence and started to make his way towards the rest of the group. Maya didn't sit still for long, though, and before I knew it she was off to say hi to Charlotte. Once Maya had said hello to Charlotte, she took off across the yard towards Timbits. He had a toy and she was very keen on having a turn with it. I found another toy for Maya instead and she sat down in front of me, waiting for me to throw it. At this point, Rocky had made his way out to the grassy yard and was watching his sister from a distance. I threw the toy for Maya and she went chasing after it, closely followed by a few of her friends. As she ran away, I took my spare minute to go and sit with Rocky. He was happy to roll over onto his back for a good belly rub in the sunshine.

Charlotte joined our small dog group today on her second day of daycare and did she ever have fun! I sat right down on the ground to say a proper hello to this sweet girl as soon as we were out in the yard. She gave me lots of kisses and never stopped wiggling in excitement. She spotted Timbits from across the yard and went racing over to see what he had found. He had a toy that he was chewing on, and Charlotte pounced around in front of him like she was asking for a turn. I found another toy for her and I threw it across the yard. She was off like a flash with Maya hopping along behind. Charlotte scooped the toy up and threw her head back to show her toy to the others. She brought it back to me one more time, and I was happy to throw it again. When she caught it this time, though, Charlotte noticed Maya had gone towards the tunnel and she decided to go and have a look as well. Charlotte finished off her group time by spending some time with Merida investigating the hole in the middle of the yard.

Keegan had a nice mix of calm and playful energy today. He spent the first little while wandering along the side of the building and the fence line in the main yard during group time. He wandered his all the way around until he came across Rocky who was having a relaxing time in the sunshine. Keegan said a quick hello and then zipped through the gate into the grassy yard to join me and some of the other dogs. I was sitting on the big rock petting some of Keegan's friends when he came trotting over and hopped right up on my lap. He gave me a big kiss on the cheek and walked behind me onto the rock and then back onto my lap. He did this a few times and I gave his some pets as he circled. Keegan hopped down when he noticed Apple starting to get playful with Sky. Apple found a good patch of grass and rolled around on her back, which caught Keegan's attention. As soon as Apple stood up, Keegan dropped into the grass and had a good roll, too. This got him feeling frisky and he took off running around the yard with Apple and Timbits.

Little Olive always has such a nice energy about her. She was really enjoying the nice weather today and took full advantage of her time out in the yard. Olive did a tour of the yard and said hello to the other dogs along the way. She met up with Rocky over by the door and then with Keegan as she was making her way to the grassy yard. Olive watched as Keegan jumped up on my lap and decided to come over to the rock for some snuggles, too. I was more than happy to give her a good back scratch until she was ready to continue on her way around the yard. Olive was heading towards Apple when she came across Merida who was rolling in the grass. Olive was very excited by Merida's rolling and as soon as she stood up, Olive and Merida were standing nose-to-nose. Olive dropped into a play bow and started to bounce around Merida, asking her to play. The girls zoomed all around the yard before taking a little break in the shade.

I love how happy Cooper is every day! His big doggy grin always puts a smile on my face. During our group time together today, Cooper was very focused on one particular hole in the ground. He never tried to dig in the hole, but no matter where he was in the yard he would run over, give the hole a quick look, and then take right back off again. When he wasn't being pet, Cooper could be found running around the grassy yard with either Keegan or with me. Cooper was full of energy and every time he came up to me I'd pet him and then jump around him, which resulted in zoomies around the yard. After he'd done a few quick laps of the yard, Cooper came back to see me as I sat down on the rock. He was quite the little love bug and we spent some quality time together until it was time to head in.

My favourite whippets were very happy to feel the sun on their backs today. Apple spent lots of time with her nose buried in the grass around the edges of the yard, while Sky looked through the fence and out into the field beyond. I said hello to Sky first since he was standing still, feeling the breeze on his face. I gave him some good back rubs and he did a little step dance, which was very cute. When I went over to see Apple, she was peeking into the agility tunnel and when she saw me approach she started to howl and run around a little bit. I started to run around with her, at which point Sky came to join us. These two are the best of friends and always wind up together in the yard! A little bit later on in the day I went by their kennel and they were both snuggled up together in their white bed. Sky was fast asleep and Apple looked up at me with her gentle eyes. I couldn't help but go in and give them some snuggles before leaving them to their nap.

Boris always brings the party to his group, and today was no different. He shot out the door and into the yard like a bullet from a gun and ran a couple of laps around the yard before even saying hello to the other dogs. Tasha came outside a little more slowly and did some sniffing before joining Boris's fun. Kyah, like Boris, was really ready to play and jumped into the action with Boris, Magic and Justice. She loves the tunnel and zoomed in and out of it quite a few times throughout the course of her time outside. Boris loved the intense chase and he followed Kyah through the tunnel a few times. Tasha finished up her yard inspection and jumped right on Boris as he ran around. She loves a good wrestling match and Boris is always a good opponent. Now that the huskies were all playing together, they mixed some running in with some wrestling. Kyah would lead the chase and run around with Magic, Justice, Boris and Tasha hot on her heels. Tasha and Boris would then start to wrestle and Magic or Justice would join in occasionally. When the group was still wrestling, Kyah jumped up on the tunnel to get a different view of her husky buddies. This bunch always has so much fun together!

Training:

Boris and Tasha got to change it up today and have me do their training instead of Kinsey. I started with Boris by heading outside and down the driveway for a quick refresher on his heel. After that we went and grabbed the bike. Boris wasn’t too sure of it so I let him just sniff it and gave him some treats for going near it. He was still a little weary so we went for a short walk down the driveway again but this time with me walking the bike on one side and Boris on the other. He kept his distance but was very good not too pull me and sat whenever we stopped. He got lots of praise and treats for coming beside me and the bike. We kept the session short to make sure he didn’t get scared  of the bike and finished with something easy. We continued his doggie push ups and Boris flew threw them like a superstar. He certainly loves doing these now that he knows he gets a treat every time he lies down. After that we went back to the kennel to get Tasha. Boris tried to sneak by me and come with Tasha and I to do some more training, but he had to wait until tomorrow for more treats. Tasha and I did the same thing as with Boris, starting with a quick walk down the drive way and then heading back to get the bike. Tasha was much less concerned about walking along beside me with the bike on the other side. We did some different paced walking along with some sitting and turning. We finished up with some fun recall on the long line which Tasha always enjoys. She would wander off sniffing along in the grass and when I noticed she wasn’t paying attention to me I would sneak off to the other side of the hill. I would call Tasha to come and she would come racing over the hill at full speed to get her cookie.
