Maya was full of energy this morning, along with her best pal Rocky who seemed to be more energetic than usual. When I let them outside Maya took off into the further yard when Rocky stayed by the door and waited for me and all of the other dogs to go outside. When I started walking to the further yard where Maya was hanging out, Rocky began to follow me. He trotted along the fence and stopped to sniff the grass every once in a while until he made it all the way over to where everyone was. He only wandered around for a little bit before he headed back to the door but he was very entertained by the dogs running around him while he was there. When I went back to the door before it was time to go back inside, Rocky walked up to me and rested his head on my leg for me to pet him. He stayed there and didn’t want me to get up since he was enjoying it so much.

Maya took it easy at first and ran around on her own before she started to play. She ran around the whole yard and sniffed whatever she saw that seemed interesting. Whenever she came across a bone she took a minute to chew on it before hopping back up to continue exploring. Whenever she saw me petting a dog she got so jealous and ran over and hopped up on my lap to give me lots of kisses. She’s so sweet. As some of the other dogs started a game of tag, Maya waited a little bit before joining in with them and ran around them instead. When Jake ran up to her and started to jump on her back that’s when she knew it was time to wrestle. She bolted in the other direction as Jake and some of the others followed her as fast as they could go. Whenever Jake caught up to her the two of them would start wrestling for a little while before either one of them escapes and they’d continue on with the game. Jake is such a loving boy and is always in the mood for some affection. Whenever I called his name he would run over while wiggling his body with excitement for me to pet him, as I was petting him he slowly made his way down to the ground where he began to roll around. He even stuck his bum in the air for me to pet it.

Bella is such a sweet girl, she can be really playful when she’s in the mood to play or she can be very independent in the yard on her own. She trotted outside during her group and kept looking back as I was walking towards her. She ran right up to me and started to jump up for me to give her some cuddles right away. She gave me so many kisses as all the other dogs crowded around to get some love as well. She wandered around the further yard in the grass and stopped to sniff around every once in a while. As all the other dogs were playing, she kept on doing her own thing instead of joining in with them. She lifted her head out of the grass to watch them whenever they ran near her. It wasn’t until Jake accidentally bumped into her that she started to get playful and run around. She joined in with the crowd and started to chase Maya around the yard along with the others. She didn’t play for too long, though before she walked back over to me to say hello again.

Apple and Sky are so calm and sweet. When it was time to go outside for their group this morning the two of them were cuddled up right next to each other in the same bed as if they were literally two peas in a pod. I had to wake them up to go outside and they spent a second stretching until I opened up the door and Apple ran right outside ahead of everyone! Sky was busy saying hi to all of the dogs in the hallway before he even got a chance to go out. When they both finally got outside they wandered off to the further yard where Apple walked along the fence as she kept sticking her nose through all the holes to sniff the grass that was sticking out. I bounced around Apple to see if she'd like to play but she opted to continue on exploring. I went to see Sky as well to see if he was interested in playing, but he was also much too concentrated on sniffing all of the good smells that the yard had to offer. Sky came over to me for some cuddles when I walked back over to the door. He loves to be pet and kept moving closer to me as I was doing it.

Keegan and Cooper had a fun day outside this morning. The two of them started off by running around separately and exploring the entire yard. Keegan ran around and said hello to each dog one by one to see who would want to play with him. He even ran up to me and started to run around me in circles. I knelt down and he came right over and gave me lots of cuddles before taking off again into the further yard. That’s when he ran up to Cooper, who was sniffing along the fence on all the rocks. He was digging his nose in the cracks to see what was buried underneath. He wasn’t able to move any of the rocks away but he was very determined to sniff them all. Cooper and Keegan chased each other around the yard for a little while trying to get the other dogs to join in but they wound up having lots of fun just the two of them. Cooper ran over to one of the holes that has been dug in the yard and hopped into it and back out again. Keegan ran up to him again to sniff around him and see what was going on. Olive was wandering around on her own when she was a group of dogs crowding around them and trotted along to see what was happening. When she had seen all she wanted of their antics, Olive continued on her way around the yard. Olive likes to have a good look around the yard every day and keeps her nose glued to the ground as she goes. She explored the yard on her own when I called her over to come see me, her face lit up as she ran over and sat in front of me so I could pet her. Eventually as I was petting her she was getting more and more comfortable and she rested her head on my leg. She began to smile as I was doing it and it was so cute to see her show her teeth while she grinned.

Max and Sadie were very excited to go outside for their walk when they first got here this morning. Max couldn’t contain all his energy and jumped up on the kennel before I could open the door. I made him sit down and be patient, though, while Sadie ran around in circles in the kennel as she waited for me to open up the door. As soon as they stepped outside they calmed down and behaved like angels during their entire walk. During groups, Max’s energy came right back and he started to play as soon as he walked out the door. He began to run around in circles on his own while Sadie was busy saying hi to all the dogs. When she noticed how playful Max was she began to run with him in the yard. They started up a huge game of tag and all of the dogs ran from one side of the yard to the other, Max was really interested in Justice and followed him around wherever he went. He kept on trying to play with him one on one, and at first he didn’t seem interested but it wasn’t long before the two of them were playing together. Sadie wanted to play with them as well so she ran up and started to jump up on both of them. The boys were very focused on their wrestling, though, so Sadie watched and wandered around a bit, and eventually met up with her friend Tasha.

Boris was having such a fun time during his group today. He and Tasha bolted it out of their kennel to join the others outside. They both took it slow at first and started to explore the yard before socializing with any of the dogs. Tasha took off on her own to walk along the fence and sniff around while Boris stayed on the gravel to explore before heading into the further yard with all of the dogs. He walked right up and started to socialize with them when they all began to get playful. He started to chase Magic around the yard as she was sniffing the ground. Her head popped right up as she began to run with Boris around the yard. Boris was having too much fun! He ran through the agility tunnel a few times when he got Tasha’s attention from across the yard. She ran over and joined in with the others as they were all chasing Boris. Boris hopped up on top of the agility tunnel and was trying to hold his balance as Tasha and Kyah crowded around him to come back down to start running again. Kyah ran around with them for a little while before walking off with Tasha. Tasha needed a break after running around so much! Kyah only played for a bit then took off on her own and walked around, while Boris kept running up to her and tried to get her to play more but she opted to sit on the side and watch instead.

Kai made her way out to the agility yard with the rest of the group. She was soon distracted by the rocks along the entrance and had to stop to check them out. After giving them a thorough once over Kai made her way further into the yard. She went wandering around seeing what the others were up to. After a while Kai made her way over to have a little visit with me. She then noticed Will and Phoebe nearby and went over to see what they were up to.  Kai then headed for the center of the yard where she had a good visual of everyone. She stood watching for a while before decided to do some more exploring.

Shyla and Maverick were the first to head further into the yard. Mostly because everyone else got caught up by something in the rocks near the entrance. After the group had started to disperse, Maverick decided that now was the time for him to go and check it out. When he was done he went trotting back out to meet up with Shyla to do some more exploring. They saw Maple race past a couple times. Eventually Maverick couldn’t take it any longer and went tearing after her. Shyla, not wanting to miss out on the fun, placed herself in front of Maple and asked her to play. Maple, still wanting to run, went tearing off once more. Shyla decided to go with the flow and joined in the running. They had so much fun and threw in a little wrestling here and there. Eventually they needed a bit of a breather so Shyla set out to do some more exploring. Maple went to see what she was doing but didn’t stay long.  Maverick went trotting around the yard not sure what he wanted to do. He made his way over to me and we played for a little while. Maverick then spotted Maple running once more and went tearing after her. Shyla watched them for a little while then went to join in.

Maggie was quick to head over to the rocks by the fence. She got everyone so curious about what she was looking at that she drew quite the crowd. When she was done, Maggie headed over to see what Tucker and Molly were up to. Molly saw that they were playing with some toys and decided to keep on wandering her way around the yard. Maggie came back to the entrance and noticed that everyone had left her spot. She decided to give it a second sniff and then call it a day. Maggie went wandering off around the yard watching what the others were up to. She then decided to get comfy and watch their antics.

Tucker took about two steps into the yard before he turned around and stared at me. He sat at my feet and whined in excitement as I gave him some pets. He rolled over on his back and waved his feet in the air while I gave him a good belly rub. Molly came trotting over to stare at me as well. She then noticed the frisbees nearby and turned to them. Tucker followed her lead. He then decided to go join the crowd by the rocks. When his curiosity was satisfied Tucker headed off to explore more of the yard. He continued exploring the yard for the better part of group. He then stopped to watch what the others were up to. I called him over and he was more than happy to come and get some attention. With that done he headed out to do some more exploring.

Molly headed out and was quickly drawn to the group checking something out in the rocks by the entrance to the yard. She then noticed Tucker staring at me and had to come over to see what was going on. Molly then spotted the frisbees very close by. She switched from watching me to trying to pick up the toy. Tucker joined her and they debated over who got it. Molly eventually left the toys and headed out to see what was going on in the yard. It didn’t take long before her nose hit the ground and she set off to see what she could find. After exploring for a while, Molly decided to come over for a visit with me. Across the yard she spotted a toy and went trotting off to check it out. It turned out to be a good toy so she picked it up and went trotting off with it. Molly found herself a comfy spot and settled down to have herself a good chew.

Maple couldn’t wait to be outside and running around; I think she’s happy to be back! Maple raced around the yard a couple times and when she noticed the other dogs gathered near the rocks she went to see what was going on. She found them thoroughly sniffing an interesting section of rocks. She left them to it and went running off once more. Maple continued to race around on her own until she met up with Maverick and Shyla. It started with Maverick. He saw her race past and went tearing after her, but not too long after Shyla joined them. The three of them had a blast racing around the yard with a little wrestling thrown in. Later they needed a breather so Maple tagged along while Shyla explored. She didn’t stick around long and was soon racing around once more.

Athena and Aphrodite were all about the exploring. They headed out to the agility yard said quick hellos then went off to put their noses to the ground. Hercules went bouncing over to join them for a little while before he left to go and play with Leah. Athena and Aphrodite continued on exploring together. After a little while they split up. Athena wanted to check out the rocks over by the grassy portion of the yard and Aphrodite wanted to explore in the grass. Aphrodite then noticed Hercules playing and went to check on her little brother. She actually ended up joining in for a little while before she headed off to do some more exploring. Athena finished with the rocks and went meandering around the yard pausing to check out anything that happened to catch her eye. She eventually made her way back over to Aphrodite so they could do some more exploring together.

Hercules was very quickly smitten with Leah. He tried to convince her to play with him, but she was more interested in exploring her surroundings. Hercules took the hint and went bouncing off to see what his sisters were up to. Finding them also exploring, he didn’t stick around long.  Hercules made his way back to Leah to see if she might want to play now. They were soon joined by Finnigan. Hercules pawed playfully to Leah but she wasn't ready to play so he moved on to see what Poppy was up to before running off to smell around the grass. When he had seen all he wanted to see, Hercules proving he is quite tenacious, went back to Leah to try again. This time he had a little more success. They were also joined by Aphrodite for a short while. Hercules left Leah and went to run around the yard seeing what everyone was up to. He then met up with Finnigan and the two of them had a wrestling match. When they were tired they headed off to do some exploring together.
Finnigan, after saying his hellos to Poppy, went running off to see what was going on in the yard. He met up with Leah and decided to follow her around for a while. Hercules joined them. Finnigan and Hercules teamed up to convince Leah to play with them. They had fun until the boys noticed Poppy and had to go over to check her out. When they finished their hellos, Finnigan went tearing off around the yard. He made his way over to the grassy section and set about doing some exploring. Finnigan then spotted Hercules trying to get Leah to play and went to join in once more. He then decided to just go racing around the yard. When Leah and went to go do some exploring, Finnigan decided to go over and join her. When he'd seen all he wanted to see, Finnigan went and had some play time with Hercules. Needing a break, the two of them then set out to do some exploring.

Leah and Poppy wanted to start their morning with some exploring. Leah quickly found herself being asked to play by Hercules while Poppy was being checked over by Finnigan. It wasn’t long before they were off to go and do their exploring. As Leah was going around she found herself being followed by Finnigan. They were soon joined by Hercules who then was quick to ask Leah to play some more. The three of them bounced around for a while while Poppy stood watching a little ways away. She then found herself being checked over by Hercules. Once he left, Finnigan headed over to do the same. After he was done saying hello, Poppy and Leah went trotting off together around the yard. Leah soon fond herself being asked to play by Hercules again and it wasn’t long before Finnigan ran to join in as well. Poppy wanted to keep out of the way of the dogs who were running and so came over to have a visit with me. I was happy to give her some pets until she decided to venture out to join in with Leah and Finnigan as they explored.

Extra Attention:

Tucker was so excited to get out of his kennel for some extra attention. He went racing up to the front room where we were going to be hanging out. Tucker set off to check out the room very thoroughly. He then came over to get some pets. Tucker then spotted the toy bin and had to go over to investigate. He found himself a nice tennis ball and picked it out of the bin. Tucker then came and laid next to me while enjoying his ball. He dug through the toy bin a few more times to see all of his options, but wound up sticking with his tennis ball. He brought it over to show me and then took it to see Kinsey and finally came back to me where he laid down once again.

Training:

I took Boris out for a walk down the driveway with the bike. At first he wanted to back away from it as I was backing it up off the rocks, but after a couple of treats he was happy to get a little closer. I walked on one side of the bike and Boris walked on the other. He did a really nice job of walking along with a loose leash. I reminded him only a couple of times to heel and he corrected himself without hesitation. He was a little bit unsure as I turned the bike around, but with a little coaxing he followed along once again. After our walk I hooked Boris up to the long line in the front yard to work on a bit of recall. At first he wouldn't leave my side because he knew I had treats in my pocket, but I didn't give him any for the moment. Once he realized he wasn't getting a cookie he went to roam the little hill. I gave him a second and then called him over. He came running the first couple of times that we did this, but I had to remind him to focus by the end. We finished things off with some extra treats and snuggles.

It was lovely to see the sun come out while Tasha and I were out for our training session. She was feeling good and ready to get working. I took Tasha for a structured walk down the driveway to start. We did lots of weaving and turning so that she would have to pay attention to me the whole time. She was super eager to listen even though she didn't get a treat every time. Tasha walked like an angel back down the driveway, too, so we moved on to some basic commands like sit and down and then onto recall. Tasha followed me everywhere at first because she knew I had treats, so after showing her my empty hands a few times she wandered off to sniff. She was a great listener and came bolting over to me every time I called. She was good to respond to me even when she could hear other dogs playing in the yard beside us. I finished our session by having some snuggles with Tasha and giving her the rest of the treats. I took that as an opportunity to work on taking treats gently.
