Simon was soaking up all the cuddles in the yard today! Tiffani came and joined us for the last bit of our time outside this morning and Simon immediately claimed her to be his snuggle partner. He first climbed right onto her lap, standing there and peeking his head up to look at Tiffani. He eventually got down and went around the yard to see everyone. Monte was super interested in the fence and the young gun in the group, Harvey. Harvey and Monte spent quite a bit of time battling over who gets to play with the rope toy. Harvey had it first, but then Monte did the cutest thing where he was standing on only his hind legs, waving his paws up and down and barking at Harvey to let him have a turn. Monte finally got a hold of it and was so content to lie in the grass and gnaw on it all day long, until Cooper swooshed in and stole it away. This toy was the hottest commodity in the yard today! Even our little Julie wanted at this rope toy! Monte didn't mind! He went right over to Harvey again and laid down on his stomach in front of him, as if to say "look how cute I am!". Both Simon and Monte were pooped after their long outing in the yard. They both returned to where Tiffani was sitting and laid down beside her, lounging in the cool grass. Tessa had a different approach to group time today! She put her curiosity to work and ventured to all places in the yard. She started off with the rest of the group and then ventured away, sniffing the large rocks at the back of the yard before moving on to the fence line. She were along the entire perimeter before coming to the middle of the yard. Julie saw Tessa and right away whipped around her and barked at her, trying to get her to play. Tessa wasn't in a playful mood, so she kindly declined Julie. She then came right to me and rolled over slowly, asking for a belly rub!
Apple and Sky had another great day here with us! It was one of the few days that it was warm enough for these two cuties to go outside without their sweater and t-shirts and they were loving it! They began their morning with a great walk on the trail, accompanied by Tiffani. The trail was so beautiful day, with the grass being so green and soft and it being super sunny outside! Apple was very excited to get outside into the warm weather. She really is a summer girl! Sky needed a little persuading from his sister, but he moseyed out the door too. Sky was a little more laid back today, and saved most of the playing for Apple. He roamed the yard and kept an eye on his sister as she ran around. He came over to me a few times and gave me a "woo!", signaling that it was time for some pets. Apple was dying for a good run today so I got almost her entire group running around the yard with us. I started to slowly jog around the yard, to get everyone interested. Apple immediately sprung to her feet, staying on my heels the whole time. Her little legs move so fast and she was leaping the whole way around the yard. I managed to snap a couple of really cute photos of her while she was going along behind me. Cooper and Bogart soon joined in on our little game and then Monte as well. Although it didn't last long, Apple was so happy that her friends were running around too. I can tell when Apple is happy because she always has a big smile on her face and lets out these little, cute barks to let you know that she is having a good time.
Cooper had a ton of fun in the yard today! He and Bogart had the same idea in the yard: to run around and see everything there was to see, and then pop up at my side for some attention and cuddles before returning to their activities. Cooper started off just trotting around, stopping to sniff his friends wherever he went. Bogart was a little more casual, picking a nice spot in the yard and planting himself there to watch all his friends. Once Bogart saw that Cooper and Apple were chasing after me in the yard, his energy picked up and he trailed along side them, wagging his tail a mile-a-minute as he went. He put on a huge smile when I called his name as we all ran around the yard. I gave him a good bum scratch and picked him up and cuddled him, holding him really close and kissing his fluffy little face. Cooper enjoyed our little game of chase in the yard too! Apple really wanted to run around, so I got her and Cooper to chase me. Whenever I stopped, Cooper came right up to my feet and gave me a quick little bark, letting me know that he would like to do it again! After a couple more laps of the yard, Cooper was started to get a little tired out. It wasn't until Monte had the rope toy that Cooper sprang back on his feet and wanted to play with it so bad! He finally got a hold of it and he and I played a long game of tug-of-war. Near the end of playtime, the whole little dog group was completely pooped from playing out in the sun that we all decided to head in. It was a good day out there for these little guys!
Lucy and Charlotte had a wonderful walk this morning. The two girls were so very excited to get outside and start moving. Charlotte hopped right outside and stuck her nose right up in the air so get a whiff of the warm summer breeze. She nudged Lucy out as well who was a little bit more hesitant but seemed very happy once she finally got out; the two of them then heading to the end of their leashes side by side. Charlotte loved coming back to jump up and see me every so often and especially liked getting an extra pat on the head. Lucy, on the other hand, was more focused on her snout. She was constantly sniffing back and fourth along the trail. There must have been plenty of smells because she usually had her nose right to the ground. When it came time for their outdoor playgroup, Lucy slowly walked out while doing a big stretch, having just woken up from a nap. Charlotte trotted right out beside her and immediately ran to me. I tried to interest Charlotte in a couple toys but she always seemed to rather a back or head scratch, the little cuddle bug. Lucy was very content with sniffing around the yard and saying hi to all of her friends in the group. She enjoyed lying in the cool grass and soaking up all of the sun. When Charlotte wasn’t with me she always seemed to be following Lucy around. I think Lucy liked having her company around her while outside.
Colin was quite the playful boy throughout the entire day today! As soon as he knew it was time for his walk this morning he was up and waiting at his kennel door for us to come get him. Once we got outside he seemed to calm down quite a bit and walked right beside me. However, he was always very interested in his surroundings. He was very intrigued by the dogs walking both in front and behind us in the field and was always watching them. Every so often he’d trot from one side to the other side of the path to try and get me to go faster. By the end of his walk he was ready for a little cuddle and then off for a nap until his outdoor play group time! By the time his outdoor playgroup rolled around, Colin was once again up and ready to go go go! He trotted outside and immediately found the first toy that he could. This was his favorite green Frisbee. Alyssa and Colin played with the Frisbee for quite sometime. The two of them played tug of war for a while before she started playing fetch with him. Soon enough he found a rope toy that he adored and spent most of the rest of his time playing with and showing it off to everyone else.
Maggie had another great day! She started her morning on a calm walk around the field with two of her good girl friends. As soon as I went to get her she was up at her kennel sitting like a good girl. She gave me a few kisses before I put her leash on and then off we went. As soon as she got into the yard she immediately became the leader of the pack and went right to the end of her leash. Maggie was very fascinated in all of the new summery smells in the long grass and enjoyed sniffing along the edge of it for most of her walk. Once it came time for her outdoor playgroup, she was ready to go with the same amount of energy as during her walk. She raced outside and said hi to all of her good friends before finding me in the yard for a cuddle. She spent most of her time sitting at my feet but I got her to play for a little while as well. I found a good tennis ball and she and I played fetch for almost the rest of her group time. She was so very excited every single time she raced after the ball and made sure she was the first one to get it. Soon after, she’d come back to show everyone and make them all jealous of her amazing toy.
Kai was an excellent girl today. Her morning began with a fun fast-paced walk with two of her good friends. She was a little bit quiet when I first went to get her but very quickly changed her pace as soon as she got outside. As soon as she took one step outside she stuck her nose right up in the air, took a deep breath in and got a little pep in her step. Maybe she wasn’t quite fully ready to go until she got outside and saw how nice it was out there. Her spirits seemed higher then ever today as she always seemed to be smiling right at me. Kai spent half of her walk time at the end of her leash venturing from one side of the path to the other and half of it right beside me waiting for a pat on the head. Once her walk was over she returned into her kennel and had an afternoon snooze. During her outdoor playgroup she was very relaxed and always wanted to soak up the sun. She spent a bit of time in the longer grass area lying on her back and showing her belly up o the sky. Then, for a little while, she moved over to under the play structure and made herself a little cubby there. I tried to get her to play with a rope toy for a little while but she seemed to want to just tan today.
