Groups

Bella was the most popular girl outside in the yard today. As soon as she stepped foot outside all of the other dogs ran towards her to say hi and try to play. Bella took her time to sniff around the yard before decided to play with her friends. She liked to sniff around the rocks for a while and hung around there for a while. She rolled around on the ground with her feet in the air; she's such a funny girl. As she was laying there Finnigan and Dragon ran up to try and play. Those two couldn't wait for her to hop up and join them. When Bella jumped up she began to run as fast as she could across the yard making all the other dogs chase her. Finnigan ran as fast as he could to catch up and it didn’t take long before they started to wrestle. When he wasn’t playing with Bella he was off sniffing the yard for toys. This little boy always grabs a toy and trots around to show it off. He started by chewing a bone on the ground when he first got outside then found a red plastic bone that he proceeded to run around with as he was playing tag. Before we went back inside I threw a rope toy in the air and he didn't waste a second before running off to chase it. He started to swing it around because he was so excited to have caught it.

Dragon and Gryphon were so entertaining to watch today. Usually Gryphon is the playful one that loves to be near every dog but today, Dragon had a burst of energy and was right in the action with all the playful pups. When Gryphon first got outside he began to wander around with Kai to explore the yard, then walked over to the far part of the agility yard and started to sniff along the grass. They both made their way to the outdoor kennel and started to sniff around it before peeking their heads inside. Dragon ran right up to Bella as soon as he finished doing his business. He seemed very intrigued by her and followed her around the yard the entire time. Whenever she ran in another direction he’d take a little walk around then run right back up to her to see what she was doing. He joined her as she was rolling and hopped back up when Bella did. When Gryphon was done exploring the yard he wandered around a bit before I called he and Kai over to say hi to me. I sat on the rock as they both came up and buried their heads in my lap. They couldn’t get enough pets and walked around me in circles with huge smiles on their faces. Kai was being such a good girl and even showed me a few tricks to get my attention. When they were finished hanging out with me the pair ran off to go play tag with Bella, Finnigan and Dragon. Gryphon loved trotting around with the other dogs and continued on for a little while. Kai couldn't help but come back over to me for some more love.

Max E. was being such a good boy today. He loves his toys and it really showed when I was out in the yard with him. When he walked outside he started running around and going up to each dog to give them a sniff and say hello. As he was wandering around Max found a bone over by the fence that he scooped up and brought over to me right away. He dropped it at my feet and stood there waiting for me to throw it for him. I played fetch with him the entire time we were outside. He’d always sit and wait for me to throw it too. Max was so quick to grab the toy each time that no other dog stood a chance at scooping it up.

Maverick and Shyla were both so cute out in the yard today. As soon as they got outside they both split up and ran as fast as they could to start exploring in the agility yard. Shyla walked up to each dog to say hello before she took off on her own. She’s opened up so much since the first time she came here and now she loves to get involved with all of the dogs. Maverick enjoys roaming the yard unless the others are playing tag so he kept to himself for a little bit as he explored all the edges of the yard. He started by the rocks and made his way by the agility tunnel that he walked around a few times. Then he walked all the way to the other end of the yard where the grass was. He kept his nose to the ground as he sniffed it. Shyla joined Maverick at one point to explore around the yard, she liked to walk along the rocks with the other dogs as well. She began to get playful at one point and started to bounce around some of the dogs to try and get them to play. Maverick bounced over to see Shyla and the pair bounced around. Shortly after I came and said hi to them and gave them lots of cuddles before I brought them back inside.

Kimi and Lobo were such cuddly dogs this morning. They were in their usual positions in the staff room when I came in and I sat down beside Lobo and started to give him a nice big belly rub. He started to stretch all of his paws out as I was petting him. Kimi looked over from across the room and noticed how much Lobo was enjoying it and quickly got up to go see Alyssa. She started to give her lots of cuddles just like I was giving Lobo. When we both got up the two plopped right back down on their cots to take another nap. Outside they were both very calm and enjoyed their time exploring. They both wandered around on their own sniffing whatever they found interested in the yard. When they came across another dog they would go up and start to sniff them very intently making sure they said a good, thorough hello.

Fez and Rex were both so fluffy this morning after they got groomed. Fez had an extra big smile on his face as he trotted around the yard outside with all of his friends. Rex seemed to be in a good mood today as well. He was so eager to go outside each time it was his turn. When he saw the leash in my hand he hopped right up and began to bounce around until I hooked him up to it and brought him out the door. Outside he hopped around the grass and stopped to explore and sniff around every once in a while. He would trot as far as the leash would let him go then hop back over to me and put his head down for me to give him lots of cuddles. When he came back inside I sat down with him for a few minutes while he relaxed. Fez was on a roll today outside. He didn’t stop wandering around and exploring the entire time. Even when I called him over he was too focused on sniffing whatever was on the ground to lift his head up and come over to me. He ran over to say hi to a few of the dogs when he spotted them in the grass sniffing around as well. He walked up and gave them a sniff then he was on his way. He came over to see me when I was petting another dog on the rock. He looked so happy as I pet him and he stayed there with me for a while before taking off again.

Max and Sadie were super excited as usual to get outside and see who was all in their group today. Sadie headed straight for the far yard and put her nose to the ground. Max went and said his hellos to Magic then went racing out to the far yard to see what Boris and Tasha were up to. Max spent some time exploring with Sadie, Boris, and Tasha in the far yard. He then went running back to join Magic in the main yard. Max was then hit with the need to play and went racing over to Sadie. It didn't take him long to convince her to play and soon they were off ripping around the yard. Boris and Tasha started to run around as well and eventually turned into the four of them racing around together.
Tasha and Boris wasted no time in making their way out to the far yard. Tasha set off to do some exploring while Boris went to have some fun in the tunnel. One end of the tunnel had tipped down so Boris turned himself around and zoomed back out. Of course once I fixed the closed end of  the tunnel Boris had started sprinting around the yard. Tasha watched him for a little bit then decided she wanted to play too and the pair took off racing around the yard. Max and Sadie were also racing around the yard and soon the four of them grouped together and had a big chase going on.

Maya started her morning off with a little exploring in the grass of the main yard before trotting off to the far yard. When she was finished exploring she went to to see what Timbits was up to. It didn't take long for the two of them to be off racing around and wrestling. Maya and Timbits were soon joined by Coco, Murphy, Zane and Dash. A while later Maya needed to catch her breath and so she went off to do a little exploring by the fence. Maya then found herself a nice spot to have a good roll. Feeling all frisky, she took off with racing around the yard.

Right off the bat, Murphy set out to do a tour of the yard. He was quick to come trotting back to say his hellos to me and to get some pets. Murphy then went trotting to the far yard to have a peak at what Maya was looking at. With his curiosity satisfied, he headed off to do his own exploring. Murphy was quite intense with his search around the yard. He barely lifted his nose to see where he was going. He did take a couple breaks to check in with me, but soon had his nose back to the ground. A little while later, Murphy spotted Maya racing around with some of the others. He didn't hesitate and went racing over to join in. When the racing calmed down he was happy to go back to exploring.

Rocky was feeling pretty active today. He was quick to head out and check out the gravel part of the yard quite thoroughly. When Rocky was done with that he headed over for the sunny patch to sunbathe for a little while. Still feeling the need to explore, Rocky left his sun spot to go and do some investigating in the grassy parts of the yard. Rocky was very thorough in his explorations. When he had finally seen all he wanted to see, he headed back to the shade to relax and watch the others.

Keegan and Cooper made their way outside then stopped to say hello to me and have some pets. When one took off, the other was soon to follow. After making his way out to the far yard, Keegan soon found himself a good rolling spot and was having a great time. Cooper went trotting over to see what he was up to. He waited until Keegan was done and had gotten up and left before settling down to have a good roll himself. Feeling refreshed, he headed off to do a little exploring. When Keegan had seen all he wanted to see in the grassy yard, he made his way back to the shade to hang out. Cooper took a break from exploring when he spotted Apple have herself a good roll in the grass. It then turned into Cooper, Apple, Sky, and Olive all racing around together. Keegan, wanting to get in on the fun, came running back out to join in. He didn't run for long and soon came over for some loving and pets from me. Needing a breather, Cooper went off to climb up on the kiddie pool.

Olive decided to start her morning off with some exploring. She put her nose to the ground barely lifted it after that. Eventually Olive had made her way all around the yard. She lifted her nose and was caught by a scent on the wind. Olive took a little while to try and figure it out. She came for a visit with me then headed back out to do a little more exploring. Olive then spotted Apple and Sky running around the yard. She decided it looked like fun and ran to join in. She ran as fast as she could all around the yard, chasing after her friends. When everyone needed a break from running, Olive threw herself to the ground for a good roll.

Apple and Sky were all about the exploring when they headed out for group. They were quick to make their way to the far yard. Apple ended up in her favourite section by the fence while Sky meandered around the whole yard. A while later I waved Apple over for a visit. She came trotting over and was more than happy to get lots of pets and scratches. The bum scratches made Apple all frisky and she soon laid down on the ground for a roll. Sky came racing over along with Cooper. Apple finished rolling and was ready to play. She bumped Sky and soon the two of them were off running. It wasn't long before Cooper and Olive went running to join in. A little while later Keegan joined in as well. When the running was over Apple and Sky came over for more pets and scratches.

Training:
Tasha was first to go for her training session this afternoon. I started by taking her up and down the hallways to practice heeling. I opened the playroom and kitchen doors so that Tasha would be tempted to try and go into each room. She veered towards the kitchen (of course!) but with a gentle reminder on her leash she was back at my side. We went up and down the hallways a few times and into the reception area where Merlin and Julie were hanging out. Tasha did a great job at focusing on staying next to me as we walked. To finish things up I took Tasha into the playroom to practice some sits, downs and stay. Stay was the most difficult part for Tasha, probably because she was so excited for her treats! I put her leash back on and had her sit and stay next to me as I threw treats across the room. It was a challenge, but once Tasha sat and waited patiently, I allowed her to go and pick up her reward.

Boris could hardly wait for his turn when I brought Tasha back to the kennel. I made him sit and wait patiently while I unhooked Tasha and clipped the leash onto him. I was pleasantly surprised when we reached the first door down the hall and Boris sat down right away and looked up at me, waiting very nicely. We went down the hall and he sat again at each doorway and heeled like a gentleman! I left the doors open down the hall, same as with Tasha, and Boris hardly even seemed to notice. He walked right next to me even when I changed my pace to mix things up a little. We went up and down the hallway a few times and Boris was great the whole way. Next we went into the playroom to work on the basics a little bit. Boris excelled at his sits, but was more reluctant to lay down all the way. I used his leash to keep him in his lay down position and we did 'doggy sit ups' to practice going from sitting to laying down and back again. We finished our session when Boris was able to stay laying down even when I walked away. I tossed my last handful of treats on the last go so that it would be extra fun when I allowed him to stand back up.
