Cats

Allie was curled up in her favourite perch on the cat tree when I walked in to say hi. She was delighted by the attention and started rubbing her head all over the cat tree, and me. Then Allie climbed out of her perch and jumped to a different part of the tree. She wandered around on the various ledges while I continued to pet her. She pounced on the scratching post and had a nice long stretch. Then she jumped down and followed me to the window, where Allie enjoyed watching the nature on the other side of the glass. I went to see the other cats for a bit and Allie entertained herself by exploring the room and batting around some of the toys that she could find. She climbed up to the highest spot on the cat tree and had some more cuddle time with me, and then Allie settled down for another nap.

Groups

Chigo was raring to go today! He raced outside with his group and immediately headed to the far yard to hunt for toys and interesting smells. At first Chigo was content to just wander about with his friends Zoe and Evie, who were also busying sniffing. Then he noticed the Frisbee in my hands and came running over. I tossed it a couple times for him and Chigo had a blast chasing after it and trying to catch it in mid-air. We moved on to a new toy and continued the game. Chigo decided to stop for a breather and sat beside me for some attention, before heading over to see what the other dogs were up to. After Chigo had said hello to everyone in the yard, he came back to play with me. We investigated the tunnel together and threw around a few more toys. Once we headed inside, Chigo was more than ready for a nap!

Benji is relishing in the nice sun that we’ve been having. Luckily we’ve got the pool to keep everyone nice and cool, and Benji was making good use of it. He would take a big drink and then stick each foot in one at a time. Occasionally he came running over to me and jumped up with soaking wet feet. While he was wandering around, he caught the attention of Charlotte, who raced over to see him. Soon the two of them were wrestling together and running around. They played for a while until both of them needed a break, and they headed to the pool together. Benji couldn’t convince Charlotte to stick her feet in. Once he had enough of the water, Benji decided to wander around for a bit, sniff and soak up the sun.

Charlotte had such a great day! She was super excited to have a one-on-one walk with one of our volunteers. When it came time for groups, she wasn’t shy whatsoever and went thundering into the yard after the rest of the dogs. Charlotte raced between each of her group-mates to sniff them and say hello. She made sure to stop by and get some cuddles from me, also. Then we headed into the grass yard to play with some of the toys. She had a great time chasing after the rope toy and the Frisbees I threw for her. After Charlotte had caught up to one of the Frisbees and was lying on the ground with it, I walked over and started to pet her. Suddenly she was rolling and wiggling around, trying to nibble on my shoes. Then Charlotte jumped straight up and went flying after Benji. She almost tackled him to the ground and he took this as a challenge. The two of them had so much fun racing around together and wrestling.

Khal had a very nice walk this morning with his new friend Kyah. They took their time exploring the trail and enjoying each other’s company. Once it was time for groups, Khal was looking forward to his one-on-one time! He hurried out the door and did a quick lap of the yard to sniff out anything interesting. Soon he was back at my feet waiting for some attention. We cuddled for a while, and then I found a toy for him to play with. He got super excited and I had him sit for a picture before I threw it. Khal happily obliged and then went bounding after the toy when I tossed it. He continued running past it and decided that he’d rather explore instead of play with the toy. We spent the rest of group time cuddling and strolling around the yard together.

Will and I first saw each other this morning during first groups, he was very excited and couldn't wait for the door to open so that he could see his friends outside. Once we were outside he ran around with his friends for a little while before going back inside for breakfast. I got the pleasure of seeing Will again during walks when I took him out with his new pal Bentley. He was very excited to meet Bentley and the two played while we were walking. Will thought his walk was great with his new friend and the two took some time to explore on the trails together. After walks it was time to go outside with his best friends. He immediately found his good pal Justice and they ran around chasing each other in greeting. Will was having lots of fun, but he found that it was pretty hot out so he and Justice took a break from their game and went and cooled off in the pool. He loved the feeling of the water on his paws so he jumped around excitedly in the pool splashing anyone in his way. Once all the fun was over it was time to go out for a walk. He did really well on his walk and only pulled a little bit. After his training session he got to spend some time up front with me and get some extra attention which he was very happy about.

Viggo was very excited to get outside this morning and to show it he plowed through all of his friends so that he could be the first one at the door when it opened. Being the silly boy he is he ran out even before the door was completely open. He put his nose to the ground once he got out and went in search of some treasure in the yard. He ran up and down the fence line looking for something interesting in the field. He only stopped once to come see me for some cuddles which I gladly gave in the form of belly rubs and ear scratches. He was very happy with this and it helped him gain more energy for his search. He spent his remaining time outside roaming the yard and stopping to say hi to me here and there.
Teddie and Kizmet are both just so adorable and I love it when they come in to visit us. I was so excited to see them this morning that I went into their kennel to give them some cuddles. Kizmet was very excited for some cuddles and came running over to me and almost knocked me over. Teddy came over a little later after his brother had said a proper hello. They got got lots of cuddles especially belly rubs and back rubs. I had to leave them after a little while and I saw them again at group time where we went out into the yard to play with their friends. They both loved the warm weather, especially Teddy who took this opportunity to go and lay in the pool. Kizmet was confused by what his brother was doing so he went and explored around the yard. They both had such a wonderful time outside today doing their separate things and at the end of our time outside they both decided to come get some more extra attention before heading inside.

Kai is just such a cuddly girl and she loves getting lots of attention especially when it's belly rubs. We first saw each other this morning when it was time for groups. She was very excited to see all of her best friends and play with them in the yard. When we first got out she took some time to get some cuddles from me which she really enjoyed. After cuddles though it was time to go and explore with her friends. She ran around with them for a while until something under the play structure caught her eyes. She ran under the structure and began digging trying to find where this amazing smell was coming from. She never found the source of the odd smell but she did have lots of fun looking for it. All in all she had a great day outside in the warm weather with her friends.
