Lucy and Charlotte really enjoyed their outdoor time together today. In the morning, Charlotte was jumping up and down with excitement to go outside for the first outing of the day. Lucy happily followed behind Charlotte with her tail wagging as she leaped outside. In the yard, Lucy explored around the grassy area and Charlotte ran around greeting everyone. Then it was time for their walks. Charlotte walked with a new pal, Lola. They had an awesome time together since they are both so energetic. Lucy enjoyed a one on one shorter walk. Charlotte was full of excitement at first, and ran all around the yard. After a while she settled down a bit and joined Lucy as she quietly explored the yard. Charlotte jumped up onto the rock I was sitting on for some cuddles. Lucy would go over and sniff something then Charlotte would stick her nose in too to have a sniff. They seemed to love sticking by each other's side today. By the time the girls came inside, both Lucy and Charlotte had their tongues hanging out the side of their mouth from running all over to explore.
Kai enjoyed many cuddles today. In the morning when I let her outside for her first group rotation of the day, the first thing she wanted to do was get a cuddle. She came over to me with her tail wagging and ears pinned back, then sat right at my feet. I knelt down with her to give her a big hug. She was a bit playful this morning when her pal Bentley pounced around at her. It was then time for Kai to go on her walk. She got a one on one walk today, which she really seemed to enjoy. After her walk, it was time for another round of playtime outside. She happily followed her friends into the yard. Once again, the first thing she did was get a big cuddle from me. If I'd lift my hand off of her, she would nudge it or rub her head against my leg. She found a deep hole in the yard that had been dug out by another dog. She stood in the hole and pawed at the dirt a bit. Kai wandered through the grass and then plopped onto it to roll around. She was twisting and snorting around in the grass.
Cooper had lots of fun playing today. In the morning, he hopped up and down as I let him outside with his group. He quickly greeted his friends then ran around the yard to explore. He ran over to me and got some cuddles. It was then time for Cooper to go on a walk on the trails, which he really enjoyed. Cooper was once again excited when it was time for his next outdoor playtime. He bounced around in the yard when he first got outside, and greeted his new pals in the group. He instantly made great friends with Simon. They played for almost the whole duration of the time outside, and they were tumbling and bouncing around everywhere. Cooper would roll over Simon mid run. Needless to say that by the time Cooper got inside from that playtime rotation, he was tired out!
Apple and Sky had a nice day. Bright and early in the morning, Apple was wagging her tail and letting out little whines when it was time to go outside for their first rotation of the day. Sky was very comfy in his bed so it took him a minute before he was following behind Apple. They enjoyed being outside this morning. After their walk, it was yet again time for an outdoor playtime rotation. Apple was feeling playful, and joined in on a game of chase with Simon, Copper and Marley. She ran after them letting out barks of excitement. Sky enjoyed a more relaxing time outside. He wandered around the grass and sniffed all sorts of plants and toys around the yard. He occasionally perked his ears up and watched Apple run around. Apple also joined him in exploring when she got tired out.
Bogart had a great first day. He got out on his walk as soon as he came in this morning. It was one on one, so he got some extra special attention while exploring the trails. After that, it wasn't long before he got to go outside with his group for the first time. As soon as he was outside, he quickly made a new friend. Tessa started pouncing all around him playfully, and he did the same. They burst into a run across the yard and chased each other around for a while. He took a break from playing, but soon Tessa came back to play and brought along another friend, Simon. The three dogs pounced and played all over the yard.
Simon, Monte and Tessa were an energetic trio today. When they arrived this morning, they were racing around with excitement. They got leashed up right away and onto their walk together to burn off some of that initial excitement. Not too long after that, the three got to go out to meet their group for the first time. Immediately, Tessa was very playful and greeting all of her new friends. She pounced at Marley and Cooper. Monte enjoyed hanging out on a rock and getting cuddles from me as much as possible. Where ever I would go, he would be following behind me. Simon made a lot of new friends and was playing as much as possible. He really enjoyed running around with Marley, Cooper, and Bogart. Tessa would join in on the fun as well.
Maverick and Shyla both had a great day. The pair started out with a nice walk that had them racing back and forth on the trail with their noses working hard. When we headed out to the yard for group time, Maverick immediately sniffed out a big rubber bone. He carried it around to show off to all of his friends. Then he came over and handed it to me. Maverick wandered to the far side of the yard to explore while Shyla was busy spending time with Maggie and Zoe. The three girls were checking out everything in the yard; they were climbing in the pool, sticking their heads in the tunnel and jumping onto the rocks. Later, Shyla hurried over with Maverick to say hello to me again. Once I started petting her back, Shyla lay right down and soaked up the attention. Eventually she parted ways to continue exploring. I had Maverick sit nicely for a picture and then gave him a rope toy as a reward. He was very excited!
Maggie G. decided to keep things quiet today. After a walk with her new friend Colin, she was more than ready to get out in the yard to explore. Maggie teamed up with Shyla and Zoe to cover more ground, and then started to thoroughly sniff everything that she came across. She seemed disappointed by the lack of water in the pool, and decided to use it as a jungle gym instead. After having her fill of the pool, she wandered in my direction, searching for some attention. Maggie sat down on my toes and waited patiently for me to start petting her. Since she loves to show off her skills, I asked her to give me paw and then lay down. Maggie happily obliged. Then she went trotting to the other side of yard to continue sniffing around. Once she was finished, she lay down to enjoy the nice weather and watch the rest of the dogs stroll about.
Colin was so excited to get outside and meet all of his new group mates. First, he was content to just wander around and say hello to the dogs. He was racing back and forth between everyone and whenever I called him over, Colin would dash towards me and then jump out of the way at the last second. Since he had so much energy, I found him a rubber toy to play with. Colin jumped straight up in the air to catch it when I tossed it to him. He ran around with that toy for a little bit, and then discovered a bone that he liked even more. Then he decided he didn’t want to play with any toys and went to investigate the tunnel. I encouraged him to go inside, though he was content to just stick his head in. This caught the attention of Indi, who came running over. Soon the two of them were chasing each other around the yard and pouncing on one another.
Lola is such a cutie! She hurried over to see me as soon as we got outside – she certainly loves her cuddles. Lola sat down on my feet and happily leaned on my legs while I pet her. Every time I stopped, even for a just moment, she would jump up and rest her feet on me to hold herself up, and then attempt to lick my face. After Lola had enough attention, she trotted over to the grassy area of the yard to sniff around. Her friends Dragon and Gryphon decided to join her for a little while. Lola must have discovered an interesting scent because soon she was jogging back and forth with her nose pressed to the ground. This kept her entertained for most of groups, with the occasional cuddle break. Later, she noticed the rest of the dogs and I standing over by the pool, and came over to say hello. She and Dragon got along super well, and the two of them kept each other company while I pet both of them.
Will had a very exciting group today. He got to hang out with a bunch of huskies, who certainly know how to play. Right away, Will came running over and was more than happy to see the rope toy in my hands. After a brief round of tug-of-war, Will went to hang out with Kyah and Sage. Immediately the two girls pounced on him and then all three of them went racing to the pool. Suddenly, Kyah got a burst of energy and raced away. This caught the attention of Magic and Justice, who soon joined in the chase. The dogs were running through the tunnel, in and out of the pool and around the rocks. Will was right in the middle of it. Later, once they had calmed down again, I was encouraging Will to try going through the tunnel. His friends Justice and Kodiak demonstrated a few times, and eventually Will worked up the courage to follow them through. Once he realized it wasn’t that bad, he ran through it about three more times before we headed inside. As part of his extra attention, he got to hang out up front with Indi while we had lunch and wrote our blogs and the two had a great time getting pets and playing together.
