When I walked into the cat room this morning, the first thing I saw was Allie curled up in the cat hammock with a fleece blanket. She looked super cozy and was having a nice nap. She opened her eyes when she heard me come in, and let out a little meow. I came over to give her some cuddles. She stretched out her back as I pet her. I grabbed a fluffy dangle string toy and began to make it fly around her. She reached out her paws to grab it and missed. I kept making it flutter by her, and she would reach further and further to try and get it each time. We had a lot of fun with that, and by the time we finished playing, Allie curled back up for a nap.

Will had a great time with friends today. After his walk, it was time for him to get outside with his group. He greeted everyone when he got out, then quickly scoped around the yard. He really took a liking to his pal Glory the bloodhound. It seemed to be that where ever glory was, Will was near by. They enjoyed playing and pouncing around with each other, as well as exploring the yard. Glory would find some interesting scents in the yard that will would come over and smell too. They really seemed to enjoy each other's company. Will also explored around with Cooper. They sniffed around the same rock as each other and Cooper even followed Will around for a bit after they finished sniffing. To end off this outdoor rotation, he played around with Outlaw for a bit. Will loved pouncing around with him! Then, it was time for his extra attention. We started it off by bringing him up with his pal Millie. They shared lots of cuddles from the staff and had a special play time together out in the front grass. Will really enjoyed the time he spent with us. After that, I got him ready for a structured walk. He warmed up quite quickly to the idea of sitting when I stop walking. He didn't quite master waiting for the "okay" command to continue walking. But every time he did listen well, he was rewarded and his tail would always wag!

Viggo had a lovely time outside today. In the morning, Viggo was ready to go outside for his first rotation. Not too long after that, Viggo got outside for his morning walk with his little friend, Millie. They really enjoyed exploring the grassy trails together. After his walk, he was once again ready to go outside. He quickly ran around the perimeter of the yard first thing, then decided to join some friend as they sniffed around the yard. He liked to hang around Millie, and they explored around the pool together. He found a nice spot along the fence where very green and long grass is. He stuck his nose into the grass and nibbled around in it. Another friend he enjoyed exploring with was Kizmet. They had a great time following each other around the yard.

Teddie and kizmet had quite the fun time playing today. In the morning, the boys relaxed outside on their first outing and saved some energy for their walk. They walked together along with their pal, Spencer. After their walk, it was time for another outdoor rotation. This time, Kizmet was quite energetic and in a playful mood. He quickly found a new friend to play with, mercer. He had a ton of fun jumping up on to Mercer, and Mercer would then push him back down. They also chased each other all around. Teddy enjoyed watching the two boys play, and barked with excitement as they ran around. Since it was so hot today, we got the group inside in the playroom after their time outside. Kizmet continued to play with Mercer, and Teddie got more involved this time and jumped around with them too. They also played with Drew. In the playroom it was non stop action other than a quick water break. By the time they were done in the playrooms, all the dogs tongues were hanging out of their mouths.

Kai had a lovely start to her day this morning with a one-on-one walk. She was such a good girl as she waited by her kennel door to go outside with our volunteer. She seemed to love the extra attention and would always stop throughout her walk so that our volunteer could cuddle and pet her. Then she would carry on sniffing away and enjoying the shining sun. When it came time to her outdoor playgroup time she was just as cuddly. She would always come over to where I was and lie right beside me with her tummy up in the air so that I could give her a quick belly rub. If I ever tried to stop before she moved then she’d give me a little look as if to tell me to continue petting her. I got her running around for a little bit and tried to get her to cool off by the pool but all she ended up wanting was a belly rub. Silly girl! Kai loved the indoor playroom today. As soon as she went in it she laid flat out and watched to see what the rest of her friends were doing.

Spencer had such a fun and exciting day today! He began his morning on a very interesting and fast paced walk with a couple of his best buddies. Spencer was so excited to go for his walk that he was waiting right at the front of his kennel for me to take him out. Once we got outside, Spencer was immediately at the end of his leash sniffing around. He had his nose in the grass for a good part of his group time and always went from one side to the other to check out the different smells. He ended up getting all tangled up a couple times but still kept going as if he didn’t even notice. Once it was time for his outdoor playgroup, he was just as ready to go and see all of his old friends as well as some new ones. Spencer immediately began to search the yard for different scents and toys to play with. We ended up playing with a bright green ball for a little while before he found his beloved Frisbee. He seemed to be attached to it for the entire group time and was always trying to play tackle Finnigan whenever he had it.

Benji was quite the playful little boy today. He began his day on a very hot but exciting walk around the field with one of our volunteers. He was just ecstatic to get outside and explore all that he could. His nose was pretty busy for the entire walk as he spent most of his time sniffing out scents. However a butterfly caught his attention for a little while and he did his best to try and catch it. When it came to his outdoor playgroup time, Benji raced outside and immediately sniffed all of his friends in his group to say hello. He then found an awesome little stuffed toy in the yard and the two of us played tug of war for a good part of his group time. Every so often he'd stick his little nose in the pool to cool off a bit but I couldn't ever convince him to go in it. By the of his exciting outdoor time, Benji was ready for a bit of air conditioning in the play room. In the playroom he seemed to have more energy than usual. He began racing around the whole room with a variety of different toys in his mouth to show them off. Eventually he decided to lie down beside me for a little snuggle before the end of his group time.

Khal had an awesome time throughout the entire day today! He began his morning on a relaxing walk around the yard with one of our volunteers. Khal loved getting to have this one on one opportunity and almost seemed as if he was smiling throughout his entire walk. He loved staying right by his side and looking up at him for the occasional pet. During his outdoor playgroup his got to have the entire yard to himself, which also meant that he got the whole pool to himself as well. Khal was absolutely ecstatic to get out into the nice sunny day but immediately went to the pool to stick his nose in. He loved to go over to the pool every so often but would never go in it. I convinced him to put a paw in for one second but it was quickly taken out. For a little while I tried to get him to play with a variety of toys such as a ball, rope toy, and Frisbee. However all he wanted to do was cuddle and bathe in the sun.
