Thursday May 26th, 2016

Kai was all about the exploring once more today. She went all around the yard checking out anything that caught her eye. Kai then made her way over to me and plopped down to ask for some love and attention. She then decided to tag along with me while I walked around the yard. Kai left me when she spotted a bone. She went and picked up then settled down to have a nice chew. Kai left the bone when she spotted Rupert and I playing with a toy. She managed to sneak in while Rupert wasn’t looking and stealing the toy. Kai then settled to chew on that. I left her to it and went walking once more. A little while later Kai came and laid down next to me and just watched the other dogs. She eventually got up and left me to go and see what Maya, Oban, and Chigo were up to by the building. They all went trotting around together until Oban turned to Kai and asked her to play. They then had some fun wrestling and goofing off.

Maya was pretty happy to get out for her group this morning. She went trotting out and immediately got to exploring in the grass. I called Maya over and she was more than willing to come over for some quick pets. Maya then left me to go and tour the yard some more. While she was touring Maya came across a bone. She picked it up and headed out to the nice thick grass section of the yard to lie down and have a nice chew. Maya eventually left the bone to continue going around the yard. She ended up meeting up with Kai, Oban, and Chigo. The four of them went trotting around the yard together for a little while. Maya came back to me a little bit later and asked for some more pets. She's opened up so much since she first came in and it's so nice to see! She was in a playful mood so I asked her to give a paw a few times for a liver treat, and she was very happy for her prize!

Max and Sadie went racing out to the yard then stopped suddenly at the tunnel. They found it very fascinating and spent quite some time checking it over. Cai and Tsavo even went over check it over with them. Sadie and Tsavo left leaving the boys to check it out by themselves. Sadie was now more interested in exploring in the grass. She went around with her nose buried in it trying to find something of great interest. Max left the tunnel and headed off to do some exploring in the grass of his own. I then called him over for a little visit. Sadie, not wanting to miss out on any loving, came running over after him. Max headed out and went to check out something by the fence. Cai then headed over and joined him. Sadie, having had enough pets, set out to do some more exploring. Max and Sadie spotted Tsavo and Cai in the main yard and decided to make their over to join them. They noticed a grassy section of the yard that they hadn’t explored yet and went to do just that. Max didn’t stick around long and soon made his way back out to the far yard with Cai. Max soon found himself being pounced on by Tsavo. He was more than happy to play with her and they took off around the yard. Sadie spotted this and came tearing out of the main yard to join the fun.

Tsavo was so excited to get outside today. She couldn’t wait to start running and did just that as soon as she stepped foot outside the door. Tsavo pulled to a halt when she noticed Cai, Max, and Sadie all checking out the tunnel. When she had finished looking, Tsavo went to see if maybe Merida might want to play with her. Tsavo didn’t have much luck on that front so she came over for a visit with me. She then left me to go and pounce on her brother. After a little wrestling, Tsavo left to have a visit with Brokk. They spent some checking one another over with a little bouncing thrown in. Tsavo then went racing off to see about getting Max to play with her. Sadie and eventually Cai quickly joined them. The four of them then had a blast racing around together.

Cai started his morning off with some exploring. He spotted Max and Sadie checking out the tunnel and had to go over to check it out himself. The girls left after a little while. Cai and Max continued to give it a very thorough once over. Once he was done with the tunnel, Cai went bouncing off to see if Glory wanted to play. They had some fun bouncing around and wrestling. Cai’s attention was then caught by Max, who was now exploring over by the fence. He went running over to join him. After doing a little more exploring together, Cai made his way out to the main yard. It wasn’t long before he found himself being pounced on by Tsavo. Cai was a little more interested in exploring, so after a quick wrestling session he went back to exploring. Cai then joined Max as he headed back to the far yard. Cai turned his attention to seeing if maybe Brokk might want to play with him. He wasn’t having much luck when he noticed Max, Sadie, and Tsavo racing around the yard. Cai was quick to leave Brokk and go join the others.

Will made his way out to the far yard where his attention was immediately caught by a section of the fence. He spent quite some time giving it a very thorough once over. Will finally left the fence and went to see what was going on in the yard. He then made his way out to the agility yard. Will’s attention was grabbed once more by some grassy rocks this time. Kyah and Maggie soon joined him. The girls left and Will was about to when George went over to check it out. Will decided to stick around and spend some time with George. He left George and went running to catch up with Maggie. The two of them then spent some time exploring around the yard together. After a little more exploring in the agility yard, the group made their way out to the main yard. Will met up with George once more, but instead of exploring the two of them were ready to play. Their antics took them out to the far yard. There Will met up with Cooper. Will stopped playing with George and switched to Cooper.

Maggie tagged along with the rest of the group out to the far yard. She and Magic then split off to go and do a little exploring together. Maggie didn’t stay with Magic long and headed off to see what some of the others were up to. With that done, she went back to checking stuff out in the grass. The group then made their way out to the agility yard. Maggie tagged along once more. Once out in the yard she spotted Will and Kyah sniffing something in the rocks. She went over to see what they were looking at. When Maggie finished she headed off to do some more exploring around the yard. Will came running after her and decided to walk around with her until the group headed out to the main yard. Maggie trotted around the yard. She came for a visit with me, and I gave her lots of head scratches, which she enjoyed. She noticed some of the others hopping around together and went to see about possibly joining Will and George. Maggie then decided she needed a break from the heat and went to go and stand in the shade. When she’d cooled off enough Maggie went to go and check out the play structure.

Monte and Simon were ready to play as soon as they stepped out the door this morning. Tessa trotted along behind them and made her way into the yard shortly after. The two boys greeted me as soon as I joined them by jumping up and trying to to give me kisses. I knelt down so they could stop jumping and Simon hopped into my lap to be cuddled. I called Tessa over to me to pet her as well and she looked over at me for a second then just couldn’t help herself. She ran over with a big smile on her face and wiggled her body as she joined in the cuddle fest. I got the three of them to follow me into the further yard and they began to run around right away, I found a frisbee on the ground and waved it in the air to see who would want to play. Neither Simon and Tessa were very intrigued by it but Monte ran up to me as fast as he could as soon as he laid his eyes on it. I threw it as far as I could and he chased after it at full speed and when he caught up to it he began to sniff it and paw at it. I walked up to grab it and he started to pull it away and started a game of tug a war with me. Meanwhile, Simon and Tessa were off exploring around the grass. Tessa began to play with one of the other dogs when she walked to the door. She would run around her and play bow to try and get her to chase her. When he didn’t respond right away, Tessa ran off on her own and Simon quickly followed. Simon loves to chat and as soon as he heard some of the other dogs barking on the other side of the yard he started to howl as loud as he could to make sure they knew that he was outside as well.

Percy and Teddy are the best of friends every time they come in for daycare. Percy got groomed this morning and was looking extra fluffy and soft when he was running around the yard. Thankfully we didn’t fill up the pools this afternoon or else he wouldn’t have stayed so clean! As soon as they both ran out to the agility yard, Percy took off to the grass area and started to sniff around and explore but Teddy was too excited to explore and stayed around where all of the dogs were to socialize. He didn’t stay around one dog too long and always kept moving. When I called him over to see me, Teddy ran up and circled around me as I pet him then took off to go run around more. I decided to start a game of fetch with Percy and Teddy so I grabbed a rubber bone off the ground and got both of their attention. Percy was the most excited and ran up right away to try and snatch it out of my hand. Teddy didn’t seem too interested in the toy, but when I threw it Percy took off and chased it and Teddy took off running after Percy. After he brought it back for me to throw and they went to catch it again, they started to wrestle a bit when Teddy caught up to Percy.

Spencer was very excited when he got outside with everyone today. He ran around and said hi to all of the dogs before wandering off to do his business. He was sniffing along the rocks when he saw Percy and Teddy playing. Spencer immediately ran up and joined in with his best pals; he always plays with the two of them when he’s here for daycare. When I started to play fetch, Spencer was just as excited as Percy was and he ran up and started to jump up to try and snag the toy. He was so full of beans and didn’t want to wait for me to throw the ball! Once I threw the toy, Spencer was off and running with his friends. During the game, every time I threw the toy, Spencer made a bid to catch it, but seemed to have more fun just running back and forth. After the game he went off and began to socialize with more of the dogs. As the others began to play more, he got excited and decided to run through the agility tunnel a bunch of times as he tried to get the others to follow him.

Kimi and Lobo spent their day in the staff room. They snoozed all day with their pal Merida. She didn’t want to share the dog bed and spread herself out along the whole bed so they wouldn’t be able to join her on it. Neither of them minded though and laid beside her on the ground on cots and blankets. During their group outside, they both seemed to be in very good moods and ran out to the the agility yard to start exploring. They took their time as they trotted around the yard. Lobo went around where all of the other dogs were and started to sniff them and say hi, while Kimi just walked along the fence and stuck her nose between all the rocks to explore. When they were done exploring, Lobo went over by the door to say hi to Mocha who likes to spend her time outside relaxing on her own. Kimi kept on wandering around when I called her over to say hi to me. She seemed to be very busy, though and took off to see the other dogs that were playing. She watched them as they ran in and out of the agility tunnel and stood at the end of it to greet them whenever they ran out. Lobo ran up as soon as he saw Kimi with the others and joined her.

Mocha and Issy had a very relaxing day today. They both kept it pretty calm and spent their time either on their own or with each other. They jumped up when I opened their kennel door and seemed to be so excited to go outside, I think they were mostly excited to enjoy the nice weather. Issy sniffed along the rocks while Mocha took off on her own and explored around the grass area. Mocha didn’t explore for too long before she walked back over by the door to relax and enjoy the sun. I walked over to her a little bit later to say hi and she gave me lots of kisses. She rested her head on my hand as I petted her and really enjoyed the attention. I tried to get her to follow me back out into the agility yard but she was happy where she was. Issy explored for a little while longer than Mocha then trotted back to the door to join her, she said hi to her and stayed there for a little while before she heard all of the dogs begin to play. She trotted back out and kept her distance as she watched them run around together.

Extra Attention:

Will and I spent our morning after walks walking around the building, saying hello to everyone he past, making sure he knew that he was happy to see them! At first, we hung out in his kennel for a couple minutes. I brought some treats with me and made a game out of hiding them for him in the kennel and he would sniff around and find them. After some time in the kennel roaming around and then snuggling, we left and made our way up to the playroom. Some of Will's friends that are in the other group were outside and he noticed them through the window and stood there with his paws on the window sill, with his tail sweeping back and forth. I got his attention with a ball, which he has seemed to like playing with lately. It amused him for a few minutes, but he got distracted. We then went up to the front reception to say hello to little Julie, our rescue dog, and Kinsey. Will went up to Kinsey, super excited to see her, and she gave him a few pets on the head. Will and Julie then battled over who got to play with the long caterpillar stuffed toy. Will loves Julie and they're starting to really love seeing each other in the morning!
