Trooper came in this morning and she was very excited to meet everyone who would eventually become her friends outside. As soon as she got out it was time to introduce herself to everyone she could and during her introductions she met up with Justice who she thought was very interesting. Once introductions were done it was time to go and play and Trooper knew just who she wanted to play with. She ran up to Justice excitedly and pounced on him from the side, but once he saw who it was they began to play. They chased each other around and around the yard only stopping a few times to catch their breath and play wrestle. When they were both too tired to continue running Trooper came over to me for some cuddles.
Ranger came in this morning and after a lot of moving around after his walk he finally got a spot in the master suite aka the staff room. He loved being in the room because every couple of minutes or so someone would walk in to cuddle with him. After a while though he was kind of lonely for the lack of other dogs in the room so we brought him a friend to hangout with named Merida. He was so happy to see her and his tail was wagging a mile a minute. With that settled it was time to go out for some play time. Ranger being the old yet energetic man he is decided he wanted to run around and find something cool in the yard to show the others. He was doing great at finding toys for the others until his pal Fez came over for a visit. He got distracted and they wandered around together and both came over to see me for some extra cuddles before it was time to head inside.
Fez is such a cutie and I love seeing him in the morning because his silly antics always put a smile on my face. He was so happy to see me this morning that when I walked in his tail started wagging so fast and he came running up to the gate to greet me. Since he was being so adorable I had to go and give him some extra attention. He absolutely loved all the extra cuddles that I gave him and his favorite thing was when I would scratch behind his ears. I sadly had to leave after a while because it was time for him to go for a walk which was also very exciting. We saw each other again not long after when it was time to go outside with his group. Fez was very excited because while he was on his walk he felt how warm it was and couldn't wait to get out and explore in the sun. He spent his whole time outside exploring around the yard and taking in all the strange yet wonderful scents that were scattered everywhere. He had a great day today and loved all the attention he got and also all of the exploring he got to do.
Caesar is just so adorable and so drooly! I went into his kennel this morning to say hello and he couldn't wait to come over and slobber all over me in excitement. When he calmed down a little I sat down with him and gave him some cuddles. He was so happy with the cuddles he got that when it was time for me to leave he tried to follow me out. I didn't get to see him for a while after that, but eventually when it was his turn to go outside we got to continue our cuddle time. When he was done with cuddling it was time to get down to business and explore the yard so off he went in search of who knows what. Caesar never found what he was looking for so I found him a Frisbee to play with instead. He was so excited when he saw the Frisbee that he almost tackled me to the ground to get it. We played fetch with it for a while and he often caught it right out of the air. It was all around a really great day for Caesar because he got lots of cuddles and he got to explore and play with his favorite toy.
Max E. is such a sweetie and even though he's a little nervous at first it doesn't take him long to warm up and want some cuddles. We first saw each other outside this morning during groups and he was actually very excited to see me. He came right over and stuck his head right out towards me so he could be pet. After a nice long one on one time it was time to go and meet up with his friends to play for a little while. He was looking for someone to play with when all of a sudden two dogs went flying by him so fast he couldn't tell what they were. Very confused he decided to find out who had gone by him so chased after them. He ran around in circles with them trying to catch up so that he could see who was there. Finally after lots of running he caught up to them and found his good pals Daytona and Talledega. He had so much fun today playing with his pals and getting cuddles from me.
Oliver is so full of energy and you can really see it when he comes running right out of his kennel in the morning so that he can be the first one outside. Once he's outside he gallops around happily not really paying attention to the others but minding his own business and enjoying the day. He spent the whole day running around with his nose to the ground on the trail of this elusive scent that had caught his attention. He searched all over the main yard and when that turned up with nothing he ran over to the agility yard to continue his search. He checked high and low in the agility yard and still could not find the source of the smell. So I went over to visit him and gave him lots of extra attention and cuddles. He had lots of fun despite his search turning up empty and he loved the extra attention he got when he came up front during lunch with me.
Bella is so adorable and she loves to flaunt it too. When we got outside all the other dogs went to explore the yard and hang out together, but Bella stayed back and decided that she wanted some extra attention from me before going to play. She got some nice ear scratches and belly rubs before it was time to find some friends to play with. For some reason no one wanted to play so instead she went and found a nice tug toy to play with by herself. She thought that was lots of fun for a while until she decided to go off and adventure around the yard to see what kind of cool things were hiding. She searched everywhere not even stopping to see if anyone was in her way and she accidentally ran into a few of her friends. She had lots of fun playing with toys, getting extra attention and adventuring around the yard.
Shyla and Maverick were both very excited to see me this morning and Maverick almost jumped into my lap when I sat down to pet them. Shyla came over a little slower but she was also very excited and wanted to be pet. I sat like this with them for a little while until Maverick got too excited and almost knocked me over. When our cuddle time was over Shyla went and explored around the yard happily by herself with her brother Maverick following right behind her. Shyla would look at something that she found interesting and then right afterwards Maverick would barge in to get a look at it too. They continued doing this the whole time and Shyla thought it was pretty funny how Maverick would go right after to smell the same thing she was smelling. They had a great day being together today and they both absolutely loved the extra attention that they got.
Max and Sadie were great on their walk this morning! Both of them were so excited to get out on the trail. When it was time for groups, they were just as happy to go flying into the yard after their friends. Sadie took her time exploring the yard and saying hello to the other dogs. Max, on the other hand, had a lot more energy and was immediately running around with the rest of the dogs right behind him. He went full speed into the tunnel and then laid down in the middle of it. This caught the attention of Tasha and Boris, who came racing over and jumped on the tunnel, which sent Max tearing out of the other end. Soon they were all running around again. Sadie even joined in for a bit, and she and Max had a great wrestling match while the others cheer them on. Max also tried out the jump a few times. Both of them had a blast playing with their friends.
Boris and Tasha were so happy to get outside and explore the yard. Boris was very intrigued by the pool – it wasn’t filled up today, but he had fun climbing in and out of it anyways. Tasha joined him for a bit and then sat back to watch her son play. She had a nice, relaxing start to groups by sniffing around the yard and spending some time cuddling with me. Later, she decided that she wanted to play as well, and went racing after Max, Sadie and Boris, who were all busy running laps. She and Boris also investigated a hole in the yard. Tasha let Boris do all of the digging, and then once the hard work was over, she gave it a sniff and continued on her way. Boris seemed a bit disappointed that his mom wasn’t very interested, so he went to play with Glory. She was carrying around a rope toy that Boris had his eye on. The two of them played a quick game of catch-me-if-you-can before we headed inside.
Glory, Brokk, Wally and Ricky were all over the yard today. Wally and Ricky spent most of their time exploring and cuddling with me – I got a big slobbery kiss on the cheek, courtesy of Wally. They noticed Max running around in the tunnel and went over to investigate, so I moved on to Brokk. He was delighted to get some attention. All of the commotion by the tunnel caught his eye as well and we both walked over to see what the dogs were doing. Max immediately took off to the main yard and Brokk went racing after him. Wally, Ricky and I followed at a more reasonable pace. Glory, who had already been sniffing around in the main yard, was very happy to see the other dogs. I found a rope toy to give her, but Brokk noticed it first and snatched it up before his sister could get it. Glory was not discouraged by this and went chasing after him. They both took one end of the toy and carried it around together for a little while, before Brokk decided to let Glory take it. He walked over to see what Boris was up to, and the two of them played for a little bit. Wally and Ricky sat back with me again to bask in the sun and soak up some attention.
Maya and Rocky are such sweethearts. They love being outside with their group. Rocky decided to take things easy today and spent most of his time lounging in the shade by the door, with plenty of cuddles from me. A few of his friends stopped by from time to time to see what Rocky was up to. They were all determined to make sure that Rocky was included. Maya was busy sniffing around in the yard. She stumbled upon a nice orange toy and poked it around with her nose. I walked over to throw it for her. The look on her face when I tossed it was priceless! She jumped straight up in the air, legs flailing, and completely missed the toy. Not discouraged in the least, as soon as Maya’s feet hit the ground she went racing after it. Once Maya had enough of the toy, she went to see what Coco and Timbits were up to. At first Maya was just running around with the beagles, but then the rest of the dogs joined in as well, so Maya led everyone on a big chase around the yard. Rocky and I watched them together while we cuddled.
Murphy has settled in with his group already! All of the dogs were very excited to meet their new friend. They all gave him a thorough sniff and then everybody headed out to the main yard to explore. Murphy spent some time checking out his new surroundings. He took an interest in the fence and was sniffing it for quite a while. Once he decided that he was satisfied with the yard, Murphy went over to see what his friends were doing. Zane and Dash noticed him and ran right over. Soon the three of them were tearing around the yard together. A few other dogs joined in, and Murphy was right in the middle. He looked very happy to be running around with them all! A little while later, everyone settled down and Murphy wandered over to see me for some attention. What a cutie!
Keegan is practically a toy magnet. As soon as he stepped outside he discovered a nice bone that nobody else had noticed while they were all running around. He was very pleased with his discovery. Keegan carried the toy around for a while to show the other dogs – they were all impressed – and brought it over for me to see. There was the happiest look on his face when I praised him. He took the bone into the grass and settled down to chew on it. While he was gnawing away, he noticed something in the grass that looked a bit out of place. Upon investigation he learned that it was yet another toy! Keegan set down his bone, sniffed the other toy, and then went back and forth between them. He had a bit of trouble picking which one to keep, so eventually he just laid down on top of the toy and continued to chew his bone.
Olive had a great day hanging out in the office. She got lots of attention and was sitting on my lap while I wrote the blog. Outside in the yard, Olive made lots of new friends, particularly Bean. The girls stuck side by side while they were exploring. When Bean decided she wanted to play, and Olive was more interested in sniffing, she partnered up with Sky to sniff around. Later, she came over and sat beside me, soaking up all of the attention she possibly could. What a sweetie! While I was busy taking pictures, Olive decided to move to a sunnier patch of grass. She sniffed around a bit more and then sat down to enjoy the nice weather.
Apple and Sky were very happy to be outside. It was such a nice day and the two of them had a great time exploring and playing. Apple found a patch of grass that she took a liking to, and had a nice roll with all four feet waving around. Once she had finished scratching her back, she laid on her side for a bit to warm up in the sun. Then she bounced up with a sudden burst of energy and trotted to the other end of the yard to sniff around. Sky started out by exploring and was very interested in the fence line. He took his time inspecting each and every rock. In between his adventures, he made sure to stop by and cuddle with me. During one of our cuddle sessions, Cooper and Stewie came running over and Sky decided he wanted to play with them. He got very excited when Stewie ran around his feet, and jumped around with his tail waving like crazy. Sky pawed at the other two while they raced around him. Once they all settled down, Sky decided to sit with me and watch the world on the other side of the fence. He saw a few birds in the field and was very interested in what they were doing!
Flora loved hanging out in the kitchen today! Everybody was going in and out all the time so she got plenty of attention. When it was time for groups, she took her time walking down the hallway and saying hello to the dogs in their kennels, before jumping out the door into the middle of the rest of her group. She said hello to Olive, who she had met that morning on their walk together. Flora is so friendly with all of the dogs. She shares an equal love for people, as well, and made sure to spend loads of time by my side so that she got her fair share of cuddles. When she wasn’t with me, Flora was busy exploring every inch of the yard, and watching the rest of the dogs run around. She had a very nice, peaceful day and definitely enjoyed the warm weather.
Cooper was so excited to get outside for groups today. He came running over to see me and could hardly get enough attention. I found a small rubber toy to play fetch with, and Cooper was delighted! While he was chasing after it, he caught the attention of Stewie, who was busy looking for someone to play with. Cooper was perfect! Stewie came racing over and wasted no time pouncing on Cooper’s back. Cooper was a bit surprised but when he realized what had happened, he spun around and pounced back. Soon the two of them were tearing around the yard together. Cooper managed to trick Stewie by racing into the tunnel, spinning around in the middle and coming back out the same side. His friend had no idea where Cooper had gone! The boys had so much fun playing together. Once they both calmed down, Cooper came trotting over to visit me again and we cuddled for a bit before heading inside.
Rex is such a happy guy and certainly isn’t letting his sore foot get him down. He always loves to go outside, even for just a short stroll out front. We headed out together and Rex immediately stuck his nose to the ground to sniff. The grass must have been interesting today, because he spent a while checking out all of the ground near us. Once he was satisfied that it had been sniffed thoroughly, he spent some time cuddling with me. He loves being pet around his ears. After we finished our cuddle session, Rex spent a bit more time exploring and then just lounged around in the sun until we headed inside.
Enhanced
Boris has been doing really well with his walking and now when we go down the driveway he pretty much stays right by my side only straying a little bit when he sees his mom. While on our walk we practiced his sit and lie down which he was also very good at. His lie down needed a bit more work but he was doing a lot better by the end of our time together.
Tasha is doing very well with her Enhanced! We had a great structured walk this morning. She is becoming more and more patient at the doorways, and usually doesn’t even need a reminder to sit. Once we got outside, she was a bit distracted by all of the new sights and smells, though it was easy to get her attention and once she was paying attention, she hardly took her eyes off of me. We practiced the basic commands, sit and down, which Tasha excels at, and then covered some leash manners. Everything went very smoothly and she only needed an occasional reminder.
I took both Max and Sadie for individual structured walks down the driveway. Both of them had such a blast during their walks and morning group and they spent some of their energy so they were less distracted than usual. I started with Max, and we focused on heel, and getting him to walk alongside me. For the most part Max did really well, mainly avoiding trying to sniff the ground, and paying attention to when we switched directions. The main thing Max needs to work on is trying to get ahead. He does really well with not pulling, but the odd time he needs a reminder that is on a leash and he eases up. Sadie did well on her walk. She was tired from having so much fun with Tasha and Boris in the morning and she was in a cuddly mood so she lingered by my side the entire way. She did stop to look up at me, as if to ask for a treat. I gladly pet her head and gave her a quick little treat. After their walks, Sadie Max and I all spent some time in the front playroom. These two sure love to play! I was trying to get them to both focus at the same time, and we practiced some recall. I waited until they were both seated at one side of the room, and I walked away from them and called them both over. They were only rewarded if they came to me and sat in front of me instead of jumping up. The first time, Sadie didn't get the memo. But after a couple of tries, they both did it. They then ran around the playroom together before returning to their kennel. :)
