Gracie was very happy when I came to get her for
her training today. She followed behind me and into the playroom. Before we got
started, Gracie needed to quickly be goofy and stretch out across the floor.
After that she was ready to work on some training. I grabbed lots of reward
treats for the session, so I made sure to give her one to reward her every time
she did something good. We started off with the basics, she did sit, lie down,
and paw. She does every one perfectly. Then, I got her to follow me to the
other side of the room and got her to sit. I showed her a treat, and told her
to stay. She stayed sitting there as I backed up, and watched me intently. I
finally said okay, and that was her cue to break from the stay command and come
get a treat. We did this a few times. Then I asked her to come with me and she
followed right by my heel as we walked around the room. I stopped walking, and
I got her to sit at my side and I rewarded her. After all the activities today,
Gracie was tired and headed to her bed for a quick nap. Gracie is just such a sweetie and had to come over and say hello to me first thing this morning by giving me a big slobbery kiss on the cheek. After that she went on her walk with our volunteer and she apparently had a lot of fun. After that she got to go outside with me for group time which she was really excited for. She ran out and pranced around in the grass happily enjoying the feel of it on her paws. She then ran around smelling the yard and enjoying the sun on her back, not bothering coming to see me until later on when she was done her excursion. She got lots of ear scratches and cuddles when she finally came over before we had to go inside. Once we got inside it was time for her extra attention and training. She had lots of fun up front in the playroom for her extra attention where she got lots more cuddles and plenty of belly rubs. She got lots of treats during her extra attention which made her really happy. Gracie had a wonderful day today and loved her time playing outside and exploring with friends and also had lots of fun with me in the playroom during her extra attention time.
Bauer couldn't wait to see me this morning when I opened his kennel to take him out for a walk on the trails. Bauer came bouncing up to me waiting with his tail wagging back and forth for me to hook him up to the leash so he could go explore. He waited patiently for me to grab his friend who was also a Bernese. Once that was all done it was time to go out and adventure through the grassy field. Bauer thought the long grass felt nice as he rushed through it taking in everything as he went. Often during his adventures he would come back over to see me for some cuddles and then would run right back into the field to get a better smell of everything. When walks were over he went back to his kennel for a little while to nap before the excitement of group time could begin. I woke him up not long after and off we went to the outside world once again. He was very excited and ran around trying to smell everything so he could have time to come get some cuddles with me. He came right over after his exploration and sat at my feet so I could pet him. He loved all the attention and was very excited when it was time for his extra attention where he would get even more cuddles. He sat with Susan up front and got cuddles which made him really happy and then since he was loving it so much he didn't want her to leave so he lay down on her feet so she couldn't move. He had lots of fun today and enjoyed all the wonderful attention he got.
Millie couldn't wait to go outside today with all of her friends and play with them and also come over for some cuddles. She started out by exploring around the yard doing some running around tracking scents before going back to see some of her friends. She ran around with them for a little and then came running over to me jumping up in excitement hoping for me to pet her. I gave her lots of ear scratches and hus and back rubs before she became too excited and had to run off to play with her friends. She ran around happily with them for some time before we had to go inside which meant she had to say goodbye to them for now. After everyone was put away it was time to go outside for a walk for her extra attention. She put her nose to the ground right as we hit a grassy patch and took off running to the end of her leash trying to track something that smelled good. Millie thought searching through the tall grass was lots of fun since there were so many different things to smell there. She had a wonderful day today and I loved getting to spend extra time with her.
Dexter is such a cutie and was bouncing up and down in anticipation when I walked towards his kennel to let him go outside to play with his friends. He ran right out the door with two of his best friends right behind him and off he went towards the agility yard. Running around in circles around the yard, Dexter didn't want to miss a single thing as he sniffed the ground and met up with his friends to catch up. He played for a little while with some of them having lots of fun running in circles with them chasing right behind him, trying to catch up. After lots of running around he thought he'd take a break and go explore the yard for a little while. He wandered around for a little while smelling everything in his path and then came over for some cuddles right before it was time to go back inside. He had lots of fun today playing with his friends, getting cuddles and going on a long adventure through the yards.
Keegan and Dugan began their day bright and early, as they were one of
the first groups to go out this morning. As soon as I walked down their
hallway, I could tell that Keegan was up and waiting for me to come get them as
he was showing off his lovely voice for me. As soon as I let them out, Keegan
leapt out of his kennel and raced out the door. Dugan wanted a quick
cuddle before doing anything else so he gave me a few kisses before following
his brother out the door. Since the two boys already knew everyone in their
group, they simply said a quick good morning as they passed by each dog and
then decided it was time to sniff as much as they could. Keegan and Dugan were
then ready for their morning walk. This time it was Dugan who was waiting right
at the kennel door and was ready to go as soon as I had push his leash on him.
They had quite a fast walk today but always took the time to sniff around of
course. Through out the walk, Keegan ran from one side of the trail to the
other so much that he and Dugan were completely tangled up together every so
often. Dugan minded his own on this walk and was always searching for something
to do. By the time it came to their outdoor playgroup, I thought that they may
have been tuckered out but I was very wrong. Both of the boys were very eager to
get outside that they could hardly wait for me to open their kennel for them.
Once I did, they raced out with Keegan in the lead and Dugan right on his tail.
Immediately after they got outside, Dugan chased Keegan around the yard as many
times as Keegan would allow. It did last for quite a while but soon enough
Keegan was ready to sniff once again. This time he was lucky to have found a
bug in the yard to play with. Keegan looked so funny as he was doing everything
from jumping to chasing after the little bug that he had seen flying around
him. After a wild chase of that, Keegan came over to cuddle with Dugan and I
for the rest of his playgroup. Dugan wasn't so distracted with the bug because
he was completely obsessed with the toys in the yard today. During his playtime
he did notice that Keegan was chasing something but couldn't be bothered to go
and leave his game to join him. As soon as Dugan was done chasing Keegan it was
playtime for him. He immediately grabbed a stuffed fox in the yard and was
ready for some tug-of-war. The two of us played for quite sometime until I got
him interested in a toy bone. This was a great toy to use for fetch and Dugan
seemed to agree… Except for the whole “bringing back” concept. Dugan would race
after the toy and pick it up in his mouth, but as he was running around with it
he'd let it drop so that he could find yet another toy, silly little guy! Soon
enough he was a little tuckered out and decided to join me up on the picnic
table for some extra cuddles and a belly rub.
Xena was very chipper throughout the
entire day today. As soon as I went to go see her for her and her brothers
first outing, she was up and ready to go. As soon as she got outside, Xena
trotted around the yard a few times. She loved to get a scent of everything she
could and almost always had her nose on the ground at first. Soon
after, she was ready to play with her brothers. I could tell that Xena was in a
wonderful mood this morning as she was getting her brothers to race back and
fourth with her while trying to play fight them. When it was time to come in
she tried to play a little game of keep away from me but eventually gave in and
came inside to snuggle up on her big bed. Xena was always waiting right at her
kennel door and especially when she knew that it was time for her walk. She
trotted right out the door into the yard and stuck her nose up into the air to
catch a big whiff of the summer scents. Xena was mostly at the end of her leash
for her walk and she was always waiting to go further or had her nose on the
ground exploring the long grass. Every so often, Xena would try and play tackle
one of her brothers but would easily get distracted by the scents in the grass
once again. When it came time for their outdoor playgroup, Xena couldn’t wait to
get outside and play. She trotted right into the yard and immediately began
bouncing around. The two of us chased after one another for quite some time
before the end of her group time.
Bella had an overall
exciting day today. She began her day on a fast paced morning with two new
friends. Once I went to get Bella out of her kennel she became very excited and
immediately began running to the door until she realized I hadn’t put a leash
on her yet and quickly returned to me. As soon as it was on she raced outside
and into the yard to meet her new friends. During her walk, Bella got all
tangled up in the leashes quite a few times. She decided that it was fun to
weave in and out of her new friends and try to bounce over top of them as well,
silly girl. During her outdoor playgroup time Bella was just as excited as
before to get outside but this time she was able to meet even more new friends.
We tried her with a very playful group today and of course she fit right in.
Bella got all of the attention she could ever want in that group since she was
the new one. She loved to race around with a few different dogs but always
returned to see me and snuggle for a little bit. Bella hopped up and down with
excitement when I came to get her for her extra attention. She followed beside
me as we made our way up to the playroom. As soon as she entered the room, she
began to bounce around everywhere. She must have been so excited by the sight
of so many toys. Immediately she ran by and grabbed an orange rope toy. She ran
around with it in her mouth and came over to show me it. But, it wasn’t long
before Bella smelled the yummy treats in my pocket that I brought along since
she enjoyed them so much yesterday. I knew she had sniffed them out because she
dropped her toy and suddenly sat in front of me while looking at me with puppy
dog eyes. Since she was being so good, I gave her one of the treats. After
crunching on it, I picked up a tennis ball for her to play with. She started to
bounce around and wanted me to throw it for her. She jumped up high in an
attempt to catch the ball mid-air. She missed, but managed to pounce the ball
as soon as it hit the floor. We played fetch with the tennis ball for a little
while until Bella was all tired out. At that point we headed over to the couch
to sit and have a cuddle. Bella enjoyed the attention and continuously wagged
her tail. She must have gotten another whiff of the scent of the treats in my
pocket, because she suddenly sat very still and stared at me intensely. When I
gave her another treat, she seemed very satisfied.
