Baileigh and Chrissie had so much energy this morning! When I opened up their kennel door to let them go outside, these two girls jumped right up and walked out the door, ready to start their day. Once they walked over into the agility yard they both began to explore around the grass, the two lovely girls parted ways and started to wander off to different ends of the yard. Chrissie had her nose attached to the ground as she was smelling all of the grass while Baileigh was being really social with the other dogs as she was sniffing around by the fence. She had such a big grin on her face whenever I called her name and she looked over at me. Once she saw I was calling her she’d run over to be pet as she squeezed her head through my legs. I went to go see Chrissie on the other side of the yard and Baileigh followed close behind me. she was upset I stopped petting her to go and see her sister wanting all my attention back. But once she saw Chrissie she got a rush of adrenaline and started to bounce around her as if she wanted Chrissie to come and join her to play. Chrissie lifted her nose off the ground and stared at her with a face that said “please don’t make me run”, then walked over to me with a huge smile on her face. She rubbed up against me for some cuddles just as Baileigh did before and soon I had both girls doing it.
Zoe and Flash are both so cute when they’re outside in the yard. They always want some attention and I’m always happy to give it to them. Zoe usually keeps to herself in the yard and doesn’t interact with many dogs unless they come up to her first to say hi and give her a sniff. She always remains calm and says hi quickly back to them then wanders off on her own to go and explore. Flash loves to be social with the other dogs. He always skips around the yard moving from one spot to the other to explore and in between trips he runs over to a dog to say hi for a minute. Today in the yard as Flash took off to the further grass yard to go and explore, Zoe followed behind him slowly then stopped just as he jumped through the fence. Zoe stayed on the gravel and watched him as he began to run around. She saw me behind her and trotted over to come and get some cuddles as she brushed her head against me. Flash was having a fun time on his own as he played tag by himself. Shortly after he was all worn out from running he came back over to see us as he went over to where all of the other dogs were to say hi and stayed there to socialize. After that he walked over to the pool to take a sip of water before hopping up on the picnic table to observe the rest of his group.
Pippin is such a social dog while he’s outside and inside with us. He loves people and other dogs just as much as he loves to play. He got lots of attention this morning from the staff so when he went outside for his group shortly after, he was all about the dogs and just wanted to play. As he walked out the door he began to bounce around all of the dogs to try and get them energized. Everyone wanted to sniff and explore first, so he then decided to run off into the grass yard to go and do his business before walking along the fence to explore. When he was done sniffing around there which didn’t take him too long he walked back over to the gravel and decided to attempt to get some of the dogs to play with him again as he walked over to sniff them. As he walked over to Flash they began to get a little excited and jumped up onto each other. Pippin followed Flash around for the rest of the time he was outside as he loved his company.
Maya and Rocky are both so adorable when they’re in their kennel together. Rocky always takes over their cot so when Maya goes to lay down on it as well she has to awkwardly position herself around Rocky so she’ll fit with him. When I let them out of their kennel Maya had lots of energy; she was running up and down the hall as all of the other dogs were coming out as well about to go outside. As I opened the door and they all ran out, Maya realized it's been a week since she was here and there was a lot of sniffing to catch up on. Rocky ventured over to the grassy yard to catch up on things as well, but he only sniffed around for a bit before walking back over to the door to lay down against the fence, hoping that the sun would come out so he could sunbathe, his favorite activity. Maya trotted around the yard as she kept on moving from one spot to the other. She stopped and said hi to some of the dogs as she walked over to the far end of the yard just as they were coming back from playing, she gave them all a sniff then wandered back over to the door to go and see Rocky. She began to nudge him with her nose and tried to get him to move I think but Rocky wasn’t having it and stayed right where he was.
Abbie and Jock seemed to be really eager to go outside for their group this morning as I walked down the hall and when I let them out the ran all the way towards the door to wait for me to open it for them. Once they got outside they took off to go and explore further out in the yard. They stuck close together as if they were attached by the hip as they trotted off. These two started to sniff around the grass for a while as some of the other dogs began to play, when they heard all of the commotion the peeked their heads up to look over and watch for a while. After they were done exploring they walked back over to the door where the more quiet dogs spend their time. Abbie went to the fence and started to sniff before laying down to relax while Jock decided to be social and say hi to a couple of the other dogs that were around him.
Max and Sadie were so excited to be here for daycare. As soon as I went to get them for their walk Max’s ears perked right up as he knew it was walk time. Sadie couldn’t wait to get out on the trail this morning, however before we went out for their walk she asked for a few kisses. On our walk Max took some extra time to sniff around in the tall grass while Sadie seemingly trotting through the field. After sniffing around Max decided he would walk along side his sister for the rest of the walk. When we got back in the building, Max made sure to hydrate well before settling down on his cot. When it was time to go out for their group Max and Sadie ran out the door like there was no tomorrow; they were very happy to be seeing their friends. After doing a few laps around the yard Max and Sadie joined their group in a game of chase me. As they all ran around the yard, something caught Max’s eye… a hole! As Max ran over to investigate the hole Sadie wondered what he was up to, so Sadie ran over to see what was in this intriguing hole. After discovering that there was nothing in the hole Max and Sadie decided to sniff around for the rest of their group.
Tsavo and Cai had an excellent day with us today. They both started off on a nice calming walk. As I walked down the hallway to get them when they saw me they knew it was walk time. While on their walk Tsavo and Cai spent most of their time sniffing around and chewing on some grass; however they did make sure to save some time to play around in the field. After their walk the duo decided to lay in their kennel for a bit before group time. When it was time to go outside Tsavo and Cai made sure that they were the first ones out the door. Once they got outside Tsavo laid her eyes on Rosie and the two hit it off. They started by racing around the yard followed by Cai, Max, Sadie, Kyah, Magic and Justice, and then decided to slow down for a little wrestling. After watching Tsavo with Rosie Cai too decided he wanted to wrestle so he found his friend Kyah and jumped on top of her. After the two wrestled around they came over for a few cuddles before sniffing around for the rest of their group.
Jemma certainly enjoyed her second time at daycare. When I went down the hall to get her for her walk she was very excited, and as soon as I hooked her onto her leash she ran over to the door and off we went. At the beginning of her walk Jemma couldn’t contain the excitement she had as she ran around in the field. After burning off some energy Jemma spent the rest of her walk sniffing around and wandering through the hay. After we got back from her walk she had a much needed drink of water and laid down for a little rest. When it was time to go outside Jemma couldn’t wait to run out the door. She started off by giving all her new pals a little sniff before she enticed them to a game of chase me. As the group ran around the yard Jemma sped right past me leading the pack, but eventually she decided to slow down for a little bit. She started sniffing around the yard checking out the agility tunnel and jump that we have, and although she didn’t use either you could definitely tell she was thinking about it. By the end of her group Jemma was quite happy to be going back inside for a nice little nap.
Kimi spent her day in the staff room with Merida. When I went in to get her for her walk, Kimi got up from her bed with a nice big stretch, eager to go. Once we got outside Kimi sniffed around the yards as we walked through them checking out all the new scents. When we got into the field Kimi walked over to the tall grass to sniff around but she decided the field was much more interesting to sniff. As we got back from our walk Kimi ran into the staff room and went back over to her bed to curl up for a little rest. When it was time to go out for her group Kimi seemed super excited to be back with all of her best pals. At first she spent some time sniffingl Jemma as she had recognized everyone else. After giving everyone a thorough sniff she decided to walk the agility yard to see if anything new was there. After that job was done, Kimi sat back and watched her friends run around.
Teddy couldn’t have been happier to spend his day with us. When I went to get him for his walk, alongside his best friend Percy, he was so excited to get outside. Once we got outside Teddy raced around the yard with Percy until we got out to the field. Once we got to the field Teddy went straight to sniffing around, then went on to play around with Percy. By the end of the walk Teddy made sure to snatch up some yummy grass before we went back inside. Once we got back inside Teddy went and curled up on his cot for a little nap before it was time to go back outside. Once it was time for Teddy’s group he made sure to be once of the first once out the door. As he raced out the door he caught sight of a new face, Jemma, and ran over to sniff her. After sniffing Jemma he decided she would be his new play pal, along with Percy of course. As the trio raced around the yard Teddy took a minute to catch his breath but was soon back at it. After chasing around for most of the group Teddy decided he would spend the rest of the group sniffing around in the grass.
As I made my way to get Issy and Mocha for their walk Mocha stood at the door waiting patiently for me to hook her up to a leash and take her on an adventure. As we got outside the girls stopped and stood there with their noses in the air for a minute sniffing all the beautiful morning smells. At the beginning of their walk the girls trotted through the grass without a care in the world. As we passed the neighbor horses Mocha was very intrigued by them neighing. Towards the end of our walk Issy had stopped to look at some flowers but quickly decided she wanted to keep walking. When we got back to their kennel the girls curled up on their cots and took a rest. When it was time to go out for their group, the girls made there may lazily out the door. It was first Mocha who had noticed that there was a new member in their group then Issy. As the girls ran over to give Jemma a sniff, Jemma asked them if they wanted to play but the girls kindly declined her offer. They spent the rest of their time sniffing around in a very civilized way.
Percy was super excited to be back at daycare and to see his best friend Percy. As we made our way through the yard to go for a walk, Percy raced around with Teddy. As we approached the field Percy’s ears went up as he felt the cool morning breeze blowing through his fur. Percy then played around with Teddy as he had missed his dear friend but made sure to sniff everything as he went. When we got back from his walk Percy cuddled up on his cot to have a little rest. Once it was time to go out for his group Percy couldn’t have been any more excited. He made sure he was the first one out the door, briefly greeting all of his friends as he went. After saying hi to everyone Percy decided to sniff around for a bit then went to play with Teddy and their new friend Jemma. As they trio raced around the yard Percy ran back and forth through the tunnel quite a few times before chasing everyone again. Percy eventually got tired and decided to spent the rest of his group sniffing around.
Extra Attention:
Zoe and Flash had an awesome time during their extra attention today. When I went to get them Flash was so excited as he knew he would be getting treats. As soon as we got to the playroom Flash ran circles of the room while Zoe ran over to the window to check out what was going on outside. After Zoe was satisfied she decided she wanted some treats, so I got her to work for it a little. After seeing the treat action Flash ran straight over to sit for a treat too. Once Zoe had seen that I brought the brush into the playroom she ran over to me and laid down so that I could give her a good brushing, then Flash came over having decided that he too wanted to be brushed so I brushed the pair of them. Once they were done being brushed Zoe and Flash ran over to the couch to look out the window above the couch. However with no action going on up front, they quickly decided to play with each other instead. Before I brought them back to their kennel I made sure to give them lots of kisses and a few more treats.
