Sophie W. had yet another wonderful day here at Tails & Trails. Every morning I can’t wait to see her because I know she’s going to pop
out of her kennel with a big smile on her face before giving me kisses
afterwards. This morning she was especially peppy as she sprung out of her
kennel to join her friends and I out in the yard. Sophie trotted down the
hallway and was immediately ready to greet all of her friends in the group.
Once she got outside she did her typical lap around the yard before settling in
a sunny spot for the rest of her morning outing. When it came time for her walk
today, Sophie was waiting as close to her kennel door as she could in
anticipation. She pulled down the hallway and bolted out the door as soon as
she could. Once outside, Sophie had the biggest smile on her face as she led
her friends out into the big field. Sophie spent most of her time at the end of
her leash but also stopped occasionally to sniff around in the long grass. At
one point, Sophie had stopped to roll around on her back in a patch of long
grass. Later on it was time for her outdoor play group. Sophie got up and out
of her kennel with the same enthusiasm as earlier in the day. This time she was
more focused on being around me. The two of us did a few rounds of the yard
before she decided she was a bit too hot and needed to cool down. Sophie led me
to one of the outdoor kennels for some cool shade. I tried to encourage her to
go into the pool but she wouldn’t do more than stick her paw in the water to cool off before stepping back out again. For the rest of her group I gave her a
good belly rub and lots of love!
Keegan had an extremely fun filled day today. When I went to get Keegan for his walk his ears perked her up as soon as he saw that I had leashes in my hand. As I hooked him up to his leash, Keegan jumped up to give me a few kisses before we went outside. As we made our way outside Keegan decided that he would sniff through the yard before we went on his walk. As we made our way to the field, Keegan caught eye of a grasshopper and quickly chased it around the field. After chasing the grasshopper around Keegan slowed down to sniff around in the field. I think his favourite thing to smell was the wildflowers. When we got back in the building Keegan ran into his kennel and went for a little snooze. When it was time to go out for his group he made sure he was the first one out the door, racing a few other dogs on the way there. After getting outside he can decided he would go sniff around the yard until he found something he was interested in. As he made his way through the yard he saw that I was filling the pool and decided to go in for a dip. Not long after he got in the pool, Keegan was joined by Doug the puppy and the two of them splashed around together. After playing around with the puppies, Keegan decided to take it slow for the rest of the group until it was time to go back inside.
TicTac is really enjoying her stay with us. When I went to get her for her walk today TicTac lazily got out of her cot as she saw that I had leashes in my hand. After hooking her up to her leash, TicTac made her way to the end of the hall to the door excited to get out for her walk. After getting out into the yard TicTac said hello to all her friends and then ran through the hardest fast as she could unable to contain her happiness. As we got out to the field TicTac found her favourite spot and went to roll around in it. After rolling around in some grass TicTac made her way through the field with her pals stopping briefly a few times to snatch up some grass. As we made our way back inside, TicTac said goodbye and all of her friends then went into her kennel for a rest. When it was time to go through group TicTac ran as fast as she could to the door, then as soon as I opened the door ran as fast as she could around the yard. After running around the yard a few times TicTac decided that she would say hello to all of her friends in the group. After feeling thoroughly successful at saying hello to everyone, TicTac made her way around the pool sniffing she as she went. Although she did not go in, I do believe she was thinking about it, however one of the puppies enticed her into a game of chase around the yard instead. As it was time to go back inside, TicTac slowly made her way through the yards as everyone else was coming inside TicTac stopped at the door to give me a few kisses for she went back to her kennel.
Extra Attention
Keegan and I got to spend some time together this morning during his extra attention, which he was really excited for. I let him out of his kennel and off he went running down the hall towards the room where we would be spending time together. He came straight over to see me when I sat down and started rubbing his head against my arm, waiting for me to pet him. We snuggled like that for a while until he decided he wanted to go exploring since there were multiple toys lying around. He sniffed each and every one of them but none of them seemed to interest him. Finally when he walked by one of the crates his nose caught the scent of something that he really liked. Keegan had found a huge bone that he couldn’t lift up by himself so I went over and carried it out into the open for him so that he could chew it. He had lots of fun chewing on the bone during his extra attention, but his favorite thing was all the cuddles that he got.
