Groups
Hobart is such a funny dog. He can be so playful one minute then the next he’s as calm as ever. He was very excited to go out on his walk this morning with me. He jumped right up as soon as he saw the leash in my hand, and the whole time when we were walking around the trail he was intrigued by everything he saw. This boy couldn’t lift his head off the ground once the entire time, as he was busy sniffing everything. During his group outside he wasn’t all that different, he spent his time exploring around the grass on his own, he likes to sniff through all the bushes to see what he can find buried underneath them. Whenever I would walk over to him to give him some cuddles he had a hard time stopping to pay attention to me but once I began to pet him he loved it and started to wiggle his butt towards me so I would keep scratching him. After he was done exploring he got a burst of energy and ran around in circles playfully before he made his way over to the door to sit and relax.
Issy and Mocha spent their day in the staffroom as per usual. They love spending their time in there along with Merida who is the perfect companion. Whenever I poked my head in the door these two were always all curled up together underneath the table snoozing - so adorable. When it was time to go for their walk this morning Mocha didn’t hold back the howls as she was just so ecstatic that it was time to go outside, which got Issy pumped up as well and she started to run around the room in circles waiting for me to finish getting them on their leashes. When we started walking on the trail both of their energy levels went way down though, they both became calm and just enjoyed their time walking instead of running the whole way. During groups they both took it easy as well, deciding to walk over to the agility yard where they started to explore a bit around the grass separately. Neither of them were too social with the other dogs and kept to themselves as they were sniffing around, Issy made her way around the entire yard while Mocha stayed close by and only explored for a little while before making her way back to the door. She sat there as all of the others eventually ended up joining her there and kept her company. Issy was one of the last ones to walk over as she was so interested in sniffing around instead.
Adele was full of energy when she walked out the door this morning. This girl ran straight down the hall as she started to bounce off the walls with excitement since she knew she was about to go outside. When she first went out the door she ran into the agility yard where she started to say hi to the other dogs in her group. As she smelled them she still had so much energy in her that she couldn’t stand still and kept bumping into them by accident, but they didn’t mind. In fact, they even started to play with her a little bit and as she was jumping around some of the dogs, they bounced around each other for a little bit before the others got distracted and went off to explore. Even though it didn’t last too long it seemed like that’s all Adele wanted and she started to explore after that. This girl wandered around the agility yard for a little while before walking back over to the door with the other dogs to hang out. She stood around there and socialized with all of the dogs before it was time to go back inside.
Abbie and Jock are both so funny. When I let them out of their kennel for their group this morning they trotted down the hall and out the door and began to look around, together as they almost always are. These two love to stay near each other and never roam too far apart. They started to sniff along the fence and all of the plants that were sticking out of it. Jock is definitely the leader since Abbie followed him everywhere and stopped when he did. Jock took the lead in the social arena as well, having a nice time saying hello to all the little dogs who came over to give him a friendly sniff. I crouched down and called them over to me as I was over by the picnic table and even though it took a little while they eventually made their way over to me to come and get some cuddles. They stayed for a little while then obviously felt they had more exploring business to attend to and were off once more.
Max and Sadie were so excited for it to be their turn for group. They went charging out the door. It wasn’t long before Max and Sadie noticed that there was a new member, one I don’t think they’ve met before. After thoroughly checking Kalum over Max and Sadie decided they quite liked him. I wasn’t overly surprised as they are rather big fans of huskies. Soon Max was wanting to run around and play. Sadie was all for this and went racing after Max and Kalum. It didn’t take long for Justice and Rosie to join in on the fun. After a while the running turned into wrestling. Sadie didn’t quite want to participate in that, but was more than happy to referee and ad her own commentary. Max, Sadie, and Kalum took off running once more. Soon everyone needed a bit of a breather. Sadie headed out to do a little exploring while Max went to check on what Justice was up to. That done Max noticed Sadie heading in to the other yard and went trotting after her. They spent some time going around checking things out. It didn’t take long for Max to want to play once more and go charging over to Kalum. Sadie noticed this and went racing over not wanting to miss out on the fun. A little while later they all ended up back in the other yard where Sadie went and hopped up on the play structure. Max stood watching her debating on what to do. He eventually decided to come over for a visit with me.
Lola and Pearl as per usual started their mornings off with some exploring. Lola didn’t stay exploring long and quickly went and sat on the leg of the door. I think she was a little sad the sun wasn’t out, though we managed to miss the rain. Pippin made his way over to see what Lola was up to. Next it was Pearl to be visited by him. Pearl also found herself being checked over rather thoroughly by Samson. She didn’t seem to mind and continued on sniffing the area she was currently checking out. Since Lola looked rather put out about the whole lack of sun thing I headed over to giver her lots of pets and attention. When she’d had enough Lola returned to her seat by the door. Pearl finished up with her section and headed out to check out more of the yard. She spotted Flash looking at something and went over to check it out. Eventually Pearl’s nose led her out to the far yard. She made her way all over the yard nose barely lifting from the ground. Once Pearl had seen all she wanted to see she came running over to me and the picnic table. Pearl leaped up to join me and demanded lots of attention and pets. It wasn’t long before she was hit with the zoomies and went booking it off around the yard. With her gone I headed over to have another visit with Lola.
Zoe and Flash were already off with their noses to the ground checking out anything that caught their attention quite thoroughly. Flash found himself being joined by Pearl while he was checking something out by the building. He didn’t seem to mind the company and they spent some time exploring together. Zoe finished checking out the main yard and headed out to the far yard. Flash took a couple extra minutes to make sure he hadn’t missed anything before he went and joined her. Zoe took a moment to look around and take in her surroundings. That done her nose was back on the ground. Flash followed her lead and stood looking over the yard. When he finished with that he was off in search mode. Eventually Zoe finished and decided it was time for some pets and attention. She came trotting over to me and leaned against my legs wanting all the love. Flash came trotting over to see what was going on. The two of them then went trotting off together. When I sat down on the picnic table Zoe decided to come and join me and try to get some more pets out of me.
Lexie wasn’t quite sure what she wanted to do when she first got outside. When she noticed Lola checking something out Lexie decided to go over and give it a once over herself. She continued to check it out even after Lola moved on. Lexie finished up and then went to have a bit of visit with Lola who was now hanging out on the ledge of the door. When she was done that Lexie headed out to see what some of the others were up to. Once she’d checked on everyone she decided to head out and do some exploring in the grass. Lexie toured around the main yard before following a few others out to the far yard. She headed out to tour that yard as well. When Lexie was finished she made her way over to me for some pets and attention.
Pippin decided to start his morning by checking in with all the other dogs. His first dog was Lola. Pippin followed her around for a bit until she took up position by the door. He spent some time checking her over and seeing how she was doing. Pippin then became aware of Pearl checking on something by the fence and had to go over to check on that. Not finding what Pearl was doing overly exciting he turned back to Lola who was now getting pets. After Pippin had gotten some pets of his own he moved on to seeing what Bogie was up to. Bogie ended up taking quite a liking to Pippin and tried to get him to play. Unfortunately Pippin has to avoid that if possible because of his legs and so he headed out to do some exploring instead. Pippin noticed some of the others in the far yard and decided to head out and join them. He was quick to put his nose to the ground and set out to do some more exploring. Pippin was distracted from his exploring when he noticed Pearl being crazy on the picnic table. He headed over to check it out. When Pearl took off running Pippin was more than happy to stay behind and get some pets.
Extra Attention
Lexie was curled up in her bed looking quite cozy when I went to grab her for some extra attention. She needed a little coaxing, but soon Lexie was off running down the hall to the front of the building. I decided to do it inside today due to the rain, which Lexie seemed okay with. She headed out to tour around the room checking on what was going on. Lexie ended up over by the door and tried to see out the window. Since they were frosted she couldn’t really see, but she quickly discovered if she stood on her hind legs she could see out the through the clear window. Lexie spent some time watching the outside world before deciding to make he way over to me for some pets and butt scratches. One of the girls later came and joined us, Lexie went racing over to give her some kisses and to get some cuddles.
Pippin was so excited when he spotted me coming to grab him for extra attention time. We made our way up to the front room. Pippin went around the room checking on everything. He spent some time with his head in the toy box, but eventually decided to make his way over to me. Pippin was happy to get some pets and chin rubs, but it wasn’t long before he’d rolled over and was demanding tons of belly rubs. Eventually my hand needed a break so Pippin got up to tour the room once more. Not finding anything as good as pets he was quickly back at my side for more pets and chin rubs. Once again it wasn’t long before he and sunk in the ground and was wanting belly rubs.
Since it was rather rainy out Zoe, Flash and I decided to spend some time hanging in their kennel. They were pretty happy to be getting lots of pets and attention. Wanting them to have a little more excitement we headed up front. Zoe and Flash went around checking everything out. Flash then noticed I was holding a ball. He lost all interest in exploring and was all about the ball. We played toss for the rest of our time up front. Though occasionally he was so exuberant in giving me the ball he tossed it for himself a couple times. Zoe continued to explore around the room. She then stopped for a while to watch her brother's antics. While I was waiting for Flash to bring the ball back Zoe made her way got some special attention.
