Bandit came in this morning and was so excited to meet
everyone that he bounced around nonstop the whole time as we made our back to
his kennel. He sniffed between all the kennels trying to make some friends before
group time. On his walk, he couldn’t wait to explore the fields with the tall grass
that was sure to have plenty of cool things to see. So off he went bounding
through the tall grass with his nose to the ground trying to take in everything
before having to run and catch up. He also got to meet some friends as well on
his walk which made him really happy. After his walk was done it was time to go
out with his group and play in the rain. Bandit was so excited and ran around
introducing himself to everyone so that later after his exploring they could
play. He loved exploring and getting familiarized with his surroundings again
before going back over to some of his friends. He met up with one of his
friends and they ran around excitedly together taking time in between to play
fight. Bandit had an amazing time outside and the fun continued when he got to
come up front for some extra attention. He got lots of cuddles and was very
happy when I scratched behind his ears. Bandit was also very happy to show his skills for some treats during his extra attention.
Pepper is such a cutie and couldn't contain her excitement when I came in this morning and gave her some head scratches. She then went out for a walk with someone else and they said that she had lots of fun exploring and walking on the trail with the other dogs. When walks were done I was very excited to take her outside for her group time. She ran outside as quickly as she could so that she could be the first to see all the cool things that the rain unearthed today. Her nose hit the ground as soon as she got out and off she went into the grass to see what she could find. She was joined by some of the puppies and she thought it was so cool having the little ones tagging along behind her. Her favorite time outside was at the end of the group when she got some special cuddles. All in all Pepper had a great day with me today and I loved getting to watch her run through the grass and also get to spend some extra time with her. When group time was over she got to go for an extra walk with me which she really enjoyed since she got to explore the front yard and run through the tall grass there. For her training today, Pepper remembered everything we'd learned the days before and was very good on her heel. We upped the distraction by practicing heel while walking across the field, always difficult for dogs like Pepper who love to sniff. She did very well, however, and I was proud of her. We then did place command on one of the big rocks outside, which Pepper found strange, but she was a good sport about it and stayed on the rock for me. Inside, out of the rain, we did more place command in different locations, including the kitchen, as well as reinforcing some basics like sitting at doorways and down.
Ziggy the cat is so adorable and fell in love with the cat tree that sits close to the window since it gives him a great view of outside. I found him sitting watching the outside world - so cute. After he took some time to look out the window watching the birds and the rain he went and curled up in a ball to nap. His nap took place inside the cat tree in the little box and as he napped he got some ear scratches and back rubs as well.
Roxy and Trixie really enjoyed their second day with us today. When I went to grab them for their walk the girls couldn’t contain their excitement. As soon as I had them hooked up to their leashes they ran to the door along side their new pal Odessa. As the trio ran out the door as fast as they could, Trixie raised her nose to the sky to smell all the new scents that the fresh rain had brought. As Roxy trotted through the yard to the gate her eyes caught sight of a bright orange toy and she snatched it up on our way to the field. The girls started off by running around chasing each other but quickly decided to just sniff around instead. As we got back in the building the girls shook off all the rain that their beautiful coats had absorbed and curled up on their bed together for a little rest. When it was time to go out for their group Roxy lazily got up from her bed with a big stretch and yawn while Trixie ran outside. Once Roxy got outside she ran to the far yard as she saw some pals chasing each other around, at first she just watched but eventually she decided that she would join in. As Trixie wandered around the yard she saw that her sister was chasing around some pals; although she didn’t join in she certainly enjoyed watching. As the end of the group was near the girls decided to come over to receive some cuddles and pets.
Nymeria certainly enjoyed her night’s stay with us. When I went to get her for her walk this morning she talked to me through the kennel as I got her harness off the hook. While I was hooking her up to a leash she couldn’t contain her excitement as she pranced around. As soon as we got outside Nymeria was so happy to be out for a walk, and as we walked through the yard she made sure to snatch up some yummy grass on the way to the field. As soon as we got to the field Nymeria has her nose straight to the ground to sniff out all the new smells that there were. Throughout our walk she made sure to take some time to play around with her pals, roll around in the grass and sniff around in the bushes. As soon as we got back Nymeria went in to her crate to take a little rest until it was time to go back out. For Nymerias extra attention we spent some time in the reception cuddling and playing around with her pals Julie and Adele. We started off with some basic commands in return for a few treats, Nym loved showing off how good she is at giving a paw. After showing off her tricks Nymeria decided to search through the toy box to see what it contained. She decided that she liked the look of the rope toy and she was off tossing it around. As Julie caught eye of the rope she decided that she wanted to play with it too, so the two girls had a fun tug of war. After playing around with her pals Nymeria and I spent some time cuddling in the chair before it was time to go back to her kennel. When it was time to go out for her group, Nymeria made sure to be the first one out the door. As she sniffed down all of her buddies she decided she would play around with her best friends Magic and Rosie. As the three of them chased each other around the yard Nymeria stopped to investigate a huge hole that she had run past. She sniffed through the hole and decided that it needed to be dug some more and got right down to business. For the rest of the group Nym spent her time chasing around all of her pals.
