Percy was right in with all of the action as he was outside with his group today, while Sophie more so stood on the sidelines to watch it all go down. Percy was in a great mood as he came in this morning and wanted to show what great of mood he was in while he was in the yard. When he first walked outside he skipped into the agility yard where he started to say hi to some of the dogs that he hasn’t seen before. After he gave them all a quick sniff he went off on his own to do his business. Sophie stayed and waited by the door for me while I was coming outside. She had the biggest smile on her face as I walked out the door. She greeted me by rubbing her head against my leg for some affection. This girl is so sweet and loves to give me cuddles all of the time. Once I started to walk out into the agility yard to join everyone she stayed right by my side the entire time. When we got to where all of the other dogs were in the yard Sophie decided to part ways with me for a little bit as she started to walk over to them to say hello and greet them. Lots of the dogs came up to her first actually and tried to get her to play with them. As they started to nudge her with their noses Sophie began to get a little rambunctious and started to bounce around them all playfully. But as soon as the dog began to run in the opposite direction for her to chase them she stopped playing and ran over to see me. She shoved her head in between my legs playfully as I began to pet her and gave her lots of love. Percy was off along the fence sniffing along the rocks as he saw some of the dogs playing across the yard. He lifted his head and ran over as fast as he could to go and join in with them. He bounced around the dogs as they were wrestling but once one of the dogs jumped up to try and wrestle with him he ran a few feet away and started to chase them around in circles. He turned their wrestling session into a game of tag as the others chased him around the yard in circles. I found a rope toy in the grass and waved it in the air for them and they all came running towards me in a pack trying to get to it. Right before they had the chance to grab it out of my hand I threw the rope in the opposite direction and Percy was the first one to catch it. He brought it over to the agility tunnel then dropped it at the end of it so he could run through the tunnel without it in his mouth. Once he was done he ran over to the pool as Sophie followed him so they could both cool off. Sophie only jumped in for a moment to get her feet wet, while Percy stayed in there for a while as he kept jumping out then going back in.
Lola C. and Pearl had an awesome day today. It began with their morning walk around the big open field. This is definitely one of Pearls favourite times of the day. I can always tell that she’s excited to go out because she’ll be sitting right at the kennel door with her whole body wiggling from side to side with anticipation. Lola was a bit quieter this morning and seemed to be all curled up and comfy when I went to grab them for their walks. However, as soon as I got their leashes on, Lola got a bit of pep in her step and came trotting out of her kennel with a very excited Pearl by her side. Throughout Pearl's walk, she loved to remain at the end of her leash, sniffing anything imaginable. During Lola’s one-on-one walk, she preferred to stay right beside me for the most part but would sometimes trot up to the front of the walk. Pearl kept trying to get her friends on her walk to go as fast as she was but they were happier walking a bit slower and roaming around in the grass. When they went out for their first outdoor play rotation, they were both very excited. Pearl raced out the door and Lola followed behind pretty quickly actually. Pearl was very excited to meet new friends and went up to a few of them right away. She made sure to get a good sniff of each and every dog before choosing whom to play with. After sniffing for a while, she decided that it was finally time to play. Meanwhile, Lola went over to her favourite spot in the sun. She walked right up to a nice grassy patch and lay down while basking in the sun. Every so often she’d switch spots depending on how she was feeling or if she needed to be in the shade. As well as lounging in the sun, Lola really enjoyed spending time with me. I made sure to give her lots of cuddles and an extra belly rub here and there just to keep her happy. Pearl was so funny as she would sort of whine with excitement whenever her friends would come over to play. She would then leap in the air whenever she knew they were ready to join her in a game of chase. Her quick movements made chasing each other around so much more fun. Pearl also liked to explore in the grass and rocks in the grass yard. Overall, the two of them had wonderful days in their own ways.
Lola T. was so happy to be in and meet all kinds of new friends today. She absolutely loved getting to go into the yard once again to take in all the new, as well as old, smells and sights. As soon as she saw her brothers Joe and Doug she went absolutely crazy! The three of them hadn’t even left the door to go outside before they were pouncing and play tackling with one another. Once they realized they were outside they bolted off in a line of three into the yard to continue to play. Lola definitely remembered them right away and you could just tell that she was happy to see them once again! Almost all of the other dogs wanted to play with her, jumping all around her, wagging their tails, inviting her to play. Lola soon became more interested in going in the pool for a while. She got in there, and was walking around splashing the water as she moved. After a while, all the other dogs, including her brothers, were trying to get in the pool with her, and soon enough there were all four puppies in the pool! Joe and Doug didn’t seem to want to stay for very long as they didn’t want to get wet but Lola made sure to splash them every time they’d hop out. Luckily she had her gal pal, Vega, to stay in the pool with her. She sometimes got out of the pool and came over to see me, but she always went back and I’d find her with all fours in the water once again.
Abbie and Jock had another lovely day starting with their usual morning walk. As soon as they got here they roamed down the hallway right to me where I gave them a lot of love. Abbie is always a good one for kisses while Jock prefers that you give him all of the attention. He kept butting her out of the way so that he could get closer to me but he didn’t seem to understand that I had two hands and could therefore pet both of them. After out little rendezvous in the hall they happily trotted into their kennel, ready to wait for their morning walk. This morning when we went to go get them for their walk, the two of them were all buddle up with one another and having a quick morning nap before it was time to go. Soon enough they and a friend were awake and excited to get their day started. Abbie took the lead in front of Jock but he kept up pretty good right behind her for the most part and even snuck in front of her at one point. Although the two of them enjoyed wandering around in the field and long grass, they’d both take turns coming back to see me every so often. When it came for their outdoor playgroup, Jock was the quicker one out of the kennel this time. He seemed very interested in all of the new and old dogs in their group today. Instead of being with our husky puppies, Abbie and Jock were with the remainder of the small dogs so there were definitely a few new faces to see! Jock followed a few different dogs around before making his way over to me on the picnic table. Abbie did the complete opposite as she trotted right to me and was immediately ready for a head and chin scratch. Once she was satisfied she greeted the other dogs in her group and then wandered into the grass yard for a bit of a sniff around. Jock joined her eventually in the yard and the two of them spent most of the rest of their time with one another.
Austin and Miko were both definitely more playful than usual today! Miko was so very excited to be back here that he sprinted down both of the halls and went directly into his kennel. However, once I got there to close his kennel door he scooted back out and started playing games with me. As I was trying to get him to go back in he played keep away and dodged every move I made. Eventually he simply trotted back into the kennel and was ready to soon come out again and go for his morning walk. Austin began his morning in a cuddly mood. When I went to get him form his kennel and take him for his morning walk he lay down on his back and insisted that I give him a long belly rub before he’d get up and join Miko and I. Soon enough, I had the two of them all ready to go and they both raced outside. Miko was wild outside and he ran back and fourth across the trail for almost the entire time. However, whenever he wasn’t he was completely succumbed to all of the smells in the yard. Miko and Austin joined each other while sniffing about in the long grass. I almost couldn’t see Austin at one point because he has gone into a very tall part. Miko had gone in there as well but he’s just so fluffy that I could tell where he was at all times. As soon as they were done sniffing they took off like bullets into the field yet again and arced after one another. Miko was usually chasing Austin but sometimes Austin would all of a sudden change direction and chase after Miko. All in all they were pretty tired after their walk but as soon as it came time for their afternoon playgroup, both of their energy had been restored as they took off out the door. Miko immediately greeted everyone outside before choosing whom he wanted to spend all of his time with. Eventually he chose a friend named Maggie and followed her everywhere she went. I think he might have had a bit of a crush because all he wanted to do was play with her and not even any toys! He wouldn’t even come see me for a belly rub. Austin quite enjoyed the pool on this hot day. He roamed around the yard for a little while at the beginning of his group but quickly trotted back to the pool to cool off. After he was done in there, Austin followed a few of his friends around the yard as they all sniffed about or played. He seemed to always want to be involved with something and was always looking to play. Eventually, once he saw that no one was very interested in playing, he joined me up on the picnic table for some extra affection.
