Extra Attention

Bogart jumped up and got excited when I came to get him for his extra attention today. He happily followed me with his tail wagging back and forth down the hallway and into the playroom. As soon as he was in the room, he was curious of all the toys lying around. Bogart sniffed around the room, and checked out all of the toys. He then wandered back over to me and started sniffing around at my pocket. I brought some treats for Bogart, so when he sat I gave him one. He seemed to enjoy it a lot! He then continued to wander around the room, and check out various toys before coming back over to me again. He curled up onto my lap so I gave him some cuddles. He was being so good that I gave him another treat. When he sat down for the treat, he also gave me a paw. We ended of his extra attention with me giving Bogart a nice back rub.

Boy was Keegan ever excited for his extra attention time this morning. When I went to grab him out of his kennel, he was sitting like a good little boy but that soon changed as he burst out into the hallway and showed me that he was ready to play. Keegan raced ahead of me to the front reception area where he and I hung out. I had all sorts of toys ready for him t play with. Keegan did an excellent job of sniffing each and every one but had a hard time choosing which he’d rather play with. Eventually he gave up on choosing and decided that he’d rather pay attention to all of us up front. He lucked out because there was so many of us up there this morning that could play with him. Keegan also enjoyed cuddling up on our laps or getting a good belly rub during his extra attention.

Groups

Keegan was excited to see everyone right as he got out of his kennel to go outside for groups. While Austin was a little shy at first when he joined everyone but as soon as he stepped foot in the yard he opened up right away. They were both very curious about all of the other dogs and started to get excited when they first got outside. Keegan started to sniff everyone while Austin was getting sniffed by the other dogs. When Keegan walked over to Austin to say hi, Austin got a little playful and dropped to lay down then started to roll over on his back so his legs were in the air. Austin got back up and started to walk over to the grass yard with all of the others following along. Keegan stayed around the door to explore along the fence for a bit before eventually trotting out to join us. Once we were all in the grass yard, Austin started to roam around with some of the other dogs. He enjoyed their company and was happy to hang out with everyone. Keegan decided to spend his time out in the yard on his own. He likes to keep to himself unless his company is human so he can get some cuddles. He walked around the agility jump and started to smell it then proceeded to wander off to the other side of the yard where he began to sniff along all of the bushes and plants. Austin joined him at one point as he was smelling along the fence but it didn’t last too long because that’s when Keegan decided he was done exploring for the day and trotted off to go hangout in the shade by the door. Austin stayed with his friends in the yard for a bit longer before joining him.

Bogart and Tic Tac are both such playful dogs. When they both joined their group this morning outside they got off to a great start and started to socialize with all of their friends right away. Tic Tac  wasn’t even a bit shy when she first came out to meet everyone on her first day! She walked over to each of the dogs to give them a little sniff and then headed out to go and check out the yard. Bogart did the same thing; he already knows everyone but he loves to be around the other dogs and ran up to each of them and began to bounce around them to see if they’d play with him. As he was jumping around, Bogart decided to head out into the further yard to run around the grass as he saw Tic Tac making her way out as well. Tic Tac started to walk up and down the fence to explore and check out her surroundings as Bogart wasted no time and started to play with some of the dogs. She saw them jumping around each other and headed over to go and join in. She and Bogart started to play for a little while before coming over to watch with me. She stayed close and watched them continue playing for a bit then decided to go and join back in again but didn’t wrestle with anyone this time. She just pranced around them as Bogart and the gang did their thing. After Bogart was tired and worn out from playing he walked over to the pool to take a little drink of water before walking back over to the shade. Tic Tac decided to walk over and join me as I was sitting on the picnic table to give me some company.

Jock was being pampered by our groomer this morning during our first group. He missed going out with Abbie and all of his friends but it was sure worth it from the result, this boy looks amazing! Abbie was being more social today then she has been when she was outside. At first she stayed around the door with everyone to say hi as everyone first began to greet each other. Tic Tac had a little interest in her and started to follow her around the yard, this made Abbie get a little excited and she started to speed up and start to skip around in circles around the dogs. As everyone ran over to the further yard to play around the grass, Tic Tac left Abby to go and join them as Abby stayed back to explore. She sniffed along the fence and smelled all of the plants that were coming out through the cracks. She made her way slowly towards us as she began to smell the grass. I called her over at one point and she lifted her head up surprised and watched me and all of the dogs in the other yard. As I kept on calling her she eventually trotted over to come and see us. When she got in the yard some of the dogs ran towards her to say hi again and she began to follow them around the yard as they were exploring as well. She sniffed around the agility tunnel and peaked her head through curiously but never made her way through it. Instead she walked around it in circles then took off to go and check something else out.

Abby S. began her morning with a peaceful summer walk. I could see the smile on her face as I went to put her leash on and even more so as she took her first few steps outside. For the most part of her walk, Abby liked to walk beside me but she also spent a lot of her time amongst the grass. Abby was so excited to go outside today for her outdoor playgroup that she ran straight for the door and started bouncing in anticipation. When we first got out she thought she would get some exploring in before playtime. Lucky for her she found a cricket that she spent quite some time examining before realizing that it moved. As soon as it hopped, Abby leapt up in shock and was even more interested in the creature. This kept her occupied for a little while until she couldn’t find it anymore. After a nice check around the yard Abby decided to go and play with two of her friends who seemed to be having a lot of fun chasing each other around.  She joined them for a little bit but eventually became tired from the heat and decided to go lie down for a bit. She then decided that she was ready to get up again so she made her way over to the pool. When she got there it was already occupied by a few of the other dogs in her group but she didn’t mind so she joined right in. She spent the rest of her time either lying in the pool with whoever popped in to visit her or coming to visit me for a nice back scratch.

Max and Sadie had a very interesting and somewhat crazy walk this morning. As soon as I put their leashes on I knew that their walk was going to be pretty funny because the two of them were all tangled up after just a few seconds. Once we got outside I was able to untangle them but almost got caught up again as they were already at the end of their leashes trying to get me to join them in a sprint. Soon enough they began to calm down, but ensured that they were still always busy doing something. Max spent most of his time with his nose on the ground, sniffing the trail at the end of his leash. Sadie joined him for a little bit but always returned to me for a pat on the head. Max and Sadie were stuck together like glue at the beginning of our time outside but then they decided that they both wanted to go their separate ways. Max decided to go and explore the agility yard and meet up with all of his friends that were roaming around in there. He joined in on a few very fast paced chases around the yard with our huskies Rosie, Justice and Magic. His friend Teddy also joined them every so often but Max was mostly focused on Rosie. The two of them would completely tackle and jump over one another until they were ready for a dip in the pool. Sadie preferred a more relaxing day today and decided to just wander around by herself checking in every now and then on his brother. She did however, join them a few times because how could she resist!? Sadie and I then cuddled up on the picnic table for a while before the end of her group. Max had a lot of fun in the water and thought it was fun to try and dig through it to see what he could find. Sadie preferred to watch the water from a distance where it was nice and dry and her brother wouldn’t accidentally splash her. However, she did wander over a couple times to stick her nose in and cool off.

Teddy is such a silly boy! When I first walked in this morning he just couldn’t wait to give me a greeting hug. He was completely full of energy and ready to have some fun. First up was his walk. Teddy could hardly wait to get outside and meet some new friends on his walk. His energy persisted through the entire time as he was constantly bouncing from the end of his leash to me and back and forth across the trail. I thought he would’ve been a bit tired when it came to his outdoor playgroup but he somehow had even more energy! He looked around the yard for a bit and met up with all of his old friends and even some new friends. He followed everyone around seeing what they were up to and then came over for some cuddles with me for a little while. Teddy soon joined in on the chase that was occurring in the yard with his friends Sadie, Max and of course a few of our huskies. This only lasted for a bit since he didn’t get as into it as the others. He preferred to keep everything under control by acting as a referee. He would always chase them but make sure to keep his distance whenever he caught up, and he especially liked herding the group of them. When the others would go in the pool he would sit beside it, watch them and bark until they got back out to start playing again. His friends all went in the pool so Teddy decided to see what all the excitement was about. He stuck his paws in and immediately did not like the cold water so decided to stand on the side and be the lifeguard. He tried to dip his paws in a few more times towards the end of the group and realized that he actually quite enjoyed it.

Finnigan had such a fun and definitely wet day today! Once he got here this morning he was immediately ready to get outside and go for his morning walk. Finnigan knew exactly where he needed to go and ran right to one of the back doors while waiting for me patiently. Once we got outside he simply sniffed around in one of the yards before heading into the field for his walk. During his walk however, he was a bit more amped up energy wise. Finnigan was bouncing all over the place while also trying to get me to join him in a chase. He kept racing to the end of his leash and then jumped towards me to try and get me to play. I sped up a little bit but soon enough he was ready to move onto the next activity on his list; playing in the long grass. Finnigan spent quite a good amount of time playing in that grass and didn’t really want to end his playtime. When it came to his outdoor playgroup Finnigan was ready to play once again. He sped into the agility yard and jumped right into the pool as fast as he could. He just loves to swimming and lay around in it that he spent half of his group time in there! Every so often Finnigan would jump out and splash a few of his friends before chasing them around the yard but he would always return to the pool. At one point I had grabbed the toy rope from the yard and that got him interested right away. Finnigan became obsessed with the rope toy and played tug-of-war with me for the rest of his group time.
