When I first went in the cat room this morning, Ziggy was snoozing away on his perch in his condo. I pet his head, waking him up from his long nap, and picked him up and brought him down to the ground to enjoy the cat room all to himself. He immediately went for the cat tree in the corner of the room. He started off by scratching his nails on the scratch post, and then he came over to me for more pets. I started to scratch his head and behind his ears, which he adored. He would lean into my hand on whichever side I was rubbing. Next came the bum scratches. This is Ziggy's absolute favorite. He would lean down and put his bum high up in the air! After lots of cuddles, Ziggy went for a little stroll around the room. He first went and hungout underneath the cat tree, and then went to the far side of the room and sniffed the cot. He then started to rub his head on the side of Philip's kennel, and the two of them spent some time sniffing between the gate. Ziggy then returned to his kennel to munch on the rest of his breakfast before settling in to take another nap.
Extra Attention
For Bandit's extra attention today we spent some time running around on the long line out front. As we got outside Bandit seemed very happy to be out in the cool morning breeze running around chasing the frisbee. After throwing the Frisbee around for a bit, Bandit came to my side for some cuddles, so I gave him a few ear scratches, which he very much enjoyed. After cuddling Bandit went on to do his own thing, stopping briefly to sit very pretty for a few treats. Bandit was so happy tp get to spend some extra time with me this morning. Bandit was very eager to get out with his group this morning. He was the first one outside as he ran into the agility yard where he began to wander around. This boy ran around on his own to explore the yard, he began to sniff some of the bushes before he made his way over to the fence where he started to sniff some of the rocks after. He liked to watch the other dogs as they were playing with each other or just wandering around the yard. As some of the dogs began to turn their playing into a game of tag, Bandit started to get more and more interested. He didn’t run up to them right away to join in but as they started to run around in circles around him all of a sudden Bandit jumped up and started to tag along behind them as they ran to the other side of the agility yard. Bandit liked to bark whenever the other dogs switched directions. I think he may have wanted them to stop running and come and see him since he kept on following them until he got too worn out and started to walk again. He paced around the yard for a bit longer then walked over to me to say hi, he got me to scratch his back as he wiggled his body side to side.
Groups
After a quick pet, Roxie and Trixie were off to explore the yard, their very favourite activity during groups. As Trixie was wandering along the fence, Roxy started walking off to the other side of the yard where she found a nice spot in the grass that seemed to really intrigue her. She began to roll around in it a bunch as the other dogs ran over to watch her, eventually Trixie saw her rolling around as well and ran over to join in. These two both ended up rolling around in the grass as the other dogs came up one by one to watch them. Once they were finished they jumped up and started to sniff around a bit more when Trixie decided to join in a game of tag that the other dogs started. They were running around the grass as fast as they could, and as she stood there and watched for a little bit to see when the perfect moment was to run up and join in. Soon enough there she went, she ran as fast as she could as she chased them around in circles. They did laps around the yard and Roxy stood on the sidelines to watch. She didn’t want to join in their game but stayed near them anyways to cheer on her sister!
Pepper and Austin are both a little shy until they get to know you. Pepper stayed in the kitchen today and when I first walked in there this morning she seemed to be a little timid of me as she backed away on her bed, but once I put my hand out to show her that it was fine and began to pet her she really came out of her shell right away and wasn’t nervous at all anymore. When it was time for Austin to go on a walk this morning he didn’t come out of his kennel on his own so I had to go in and comfort him for a moment so he would calm down enough to walk out on his own. Once he began to walk with the other dogs though he was completely fine and socialized a lot along the trail. He kept on running up behind the other dog to smell him then ran away whenever they turned around. Outside during groups Pepper and Austin both trotted out to the further yard where they both separated and began to explore on their own around the grass. Austin walked all the way to the end of the yard where he started to sniff along the fence. While Pepper stayed around all of the other dogs to be near them as they were sniffing around as well. Once one of the dogs walked over to Pepper to give her a sniff they both started to get really playful as they walked around each other, both staring into each other's eyes. Until the other dog all of a sudden ran as fast as she could across the yard when Pepper booked it after her to begin a game of tag. They ran so fast around the yard and didn’t stop until all of the dogs made their way over to the door where they began to hang out. Austin was one of the first ones to make his way back over to the door, he sat there until everyone came and joined him, that’s when they began to walk over and smell him to say hello.
Finnigan was so happy to be with us for daycare today. As I walked to his kennel to get him for his walk Finnigan happily ran to the door so I could hook him up to a leash to take him for his walk. As we made our way down the hall Finngian trotted all the way alongside his best friend Tanner, excited to get out for his walk. As we made our way to the field Finnigan spotted the empty pool and made a mental note to play in it as soon as it was full. As soon as we hit the field Finnigan was nose to the ground sniffing out all the dogs that had been on the trail before him. After feeling satisfied Finnigan decided he would take a little roll in the grass before moving along. As we made our way through the field Finnigan ran along happy as could be through the tall grass, when we got back inside Finnigan was happy to get back to his kennel for a short rest. When it was time to go outside Finnigan couldn’t contain his excitement as he saw all his friends while running through the door. After giving everyone a thorough sniff Finnigan made his way around the yard sniffing as he went to find a new toy to play with, as soon as he saw the frisbee his tail was wagging a hundred miles a minute. While Finnigan was playing with the frisbee I went to grab the hose to fill up the pool that I knew he had been eying up and as soon as I turned the tap on Finnigan was over to splash around in it. Finnigan and his friend London spent the rest of the group running back and forth together through the pool, he was so grateful to have a buddy to paddle around with.
Tanner spent his day lounging around in his kennel with his good friend Finnigan. When I made my way down the hall to get Tanner for his walk, as soon as he saw the leases in my hand he let out a few woofs to tell me just how excited he was to go for a walk. As we made our way outside Tanner made sure he was the first one out the door too excited to wait for everyone else. As we made our way to the field Tanner saw a few of his pals in the other yard and he made sure to let out a few woofs to say hi to them, however he was more focused on getting to the field. While we made our way through the field Tanner spent most of his time with his nose in the air, smelling all the lovely summer smells. After we got back to the building Tanner went to his comfy bed and curled up for a little nap before it was time to go out for his group. Once it was time to go out for his group Tanner made his way out of bed with a huge stretch and yawn eager to see all of his pals that he had missed so dearly. As soon as he got outside Tanner went straight to sniffing around the yard with his pal Finnigan, as the duo made their way through the yard Fin had caught sight of a toy and left Tanner but he was happy to get some alone time. As the group progressed Tanner spent most of his time watching some pals run around the yard and case after toys. As Tanner caught eye of me filling the pool he made his way over to walk around for a bit however he had decided that for the rest of the group he would just wander around and see if anything new had happened since he had been here.
As I made my way to get Abbie and Jock for their walk the siblings jumped for joy when they saw the leashes in my hand. As we made our way through the yard, Abbie stuck her nose to the air smelling the fresh, cool breeze that was blowing while Jock ran to the gate excited to be out for his walk. As soon as we got to the field the pair put their noses to the ground searching for the perfect spot to roll around in the grass, and as soon as they found it they did just that. As we made our way inside Abbie and Jock ran to their kennel, eager to wait their turn to go back outside. Once it was time to go outside for their group, Abbie ran to the door checking over her shoulder to make sure that indeed her brother was right behind her. When the pair got outside they were greeted by the husky puppies and a few other pals. As soon as Abbie had seen Vega the two of them ran through the yard as fast as they could. Vega even ran through the agility tunnel to see if Abbie would as well. However, she decided to walk around it instead. As Jock watched Abbie and Vega chasing around the yard he thought he would go chase them too however by the time he made his way to them Vega had lost interest like puppies do. For the rest of their group Abbie and Jock spent some time sniffing around and investigating the pool.
Loki was very happy to spend his day with us today. As I made my way to get him, he looked up at my with his big beautiful brown eyes to tell me just how excited he was to go for his walk. As we made our way to the field Loki stopped to sniff a big boulder only to discover that he indeed was too small to roll it around. While we were in the field, Loki spent most of his time walking through the hay and tall grass stopping a few times to sniff around in some bushes and trees. When we made our way back to the building Loki hesitantly went back to his kennel, but was pretty happy to get a drink and curl up on his bed. Once it was time to go out for his group Loki ran to the door excited to see all his pals. After sniffing everyone down Loki wandered around the yard stopping at the interesting boulder again and giving it a few barks; however, when it didn’t bark back he moved on with his search. As he stood there and watched some pals running around the yard Loki’s mohawk started blowing through the wind and he quickly shook his head to make it stop. Loki spent the rest of his group wandering around and wading through the pool.
Kayla did so well on her first visit for daycare. As I made my way to get her for her walk she was very interested in what I was doing as I hooked her up to her leash. As we made our way out of the building, Kayla stopped for a few seconds to smell the air. Kayla looked at me for reassurance as she hopped over the gate into the field to start her walk. Throughout her walk Kayla seemed to build some more confidence as she walked alongside me, although she didn’t want to go for a full walk she certainly enjoyed how far she had gone. When we got back to the building Kayla seemed relieved to be back in some familiar surroundings as she went back to her kennel. When it was time to go out for her group Kayla seemed a little confused as to why she was going outside with a few other dogs; however she accepted the new challenge as she made her way outside. When we got outside Kayla said hello to all her new pals and sniffed everyone but she decided she wanted to wander around the yard for a little bit. After wandering and sniffing around she caught eye of a husky puppy named Vega and was so excited to run around and chase her through the yard. As the group came to an end Kayla came over for some cuddles and kisses before I brought everyone back inside.
