Extra Attention

Carter was so excited to head out for his extra attention time. Since it was raining we decided to have some fun indoors. Carter and I made our way up to the front room where he was quite excited to discover the toy box. In the end he ignored all the toys and went straight for the bone. Carter settled down so he could have a nice little chew. There was still so much to check out, though, and he went trotting around the room seeing what else was going on. Carter ended up back in the toy box though this time he did pick out a toy, a rope toy. He started to toss it around and have some fun. After a little while of that Carter was back in the toy box grabbing himself another bone.

Ghira just had an absolute blast playing fetch today! At first we spent some cuddle time in the kitchen together, where it was nice and cool. After her afternoon group play, I went in to cuddle with her before getting her worked up with a game of fetch. She really liked getting her head pet and getting a back scratch but after a while, all she wanted to do was find a toy and play. Once the rain stopped, we went outside and I hooked up Ghira to the long line outside so she could roam around in the front field. I was hiding a bright yellow ball in my pocket and as soon as I pulled it out, Ghira went crazy, barking at me and bowing on the ground, just waiting for me to throw it for her! We played fetch for a solid 10 minutes before it started to down pour on us so we moved inside where we could play out of the rain. We played inside for a while, Ghira chasing after the ball all in the reception area as happy as could be! When it was time to go back, Ghira carried the ball back with her and kept it there through the whole evening and every time someone walked by, she picked up the ball and tried to play fetch right there, it was so cute!

Gracie spent her whole day up front hanging out with me while I tended to matters at the desk. At lunch time, Leah and I snuggled with Gracie in her great big bed and Gracie cuddled up in her big comfy red blanket and took a little nap. I looked over and she had the blanket pulled over her head to make it nice and dark for her. Later on, we worked on her tricks and I guess after having such a lazy, rainy day, Gracie was not in the mood for training! All she wanted to do was give a paw and shake a paw. No matter what I said to her, she would offer her paw to my hand, or stick it on my lap it was so cute. Eventally she rolled over for me a few times. Maybe tomorrow Gracie will be completely focused and ready to try and learn crawl again!!

Miko and I headed up to the playroom for some extra attention time after walks. He knew exactly what time it was when I came to fetch him from his kennel and was hopping up and down with excitement. Right away, Miko went racing to the playroom and hurried to the couch to see what there was to find in its cushions. He pulled a rope toy out, nosed it around and then trotted to the other side of the room to look for more toys. I showed him a collection of toys and Miko was happy to chew on them and chase after them for a bit, although he was much more interested in running around the room. I let him sniff everything and once he was satisfied that every corner of the room had been explored, Miko came over to say hello. Miko was very happy to get his ears scratched and cuddled up beside me while I was petting him. Then he was distracted by a sound coming from the other side of the window and went to go check it out. I snuck out the door to grab a few treats for Miko. When I got back, he didn’t waste any time jumping up and trying to search my pockets. I had him show off a few tricks. Miko sat like a pro and waited patiently for a reward. Then he happily gave me his paw for another treat. We played a few more games and threw around some more toys before Miko and I headed back to his kennel for a little cuddle.

Groups
Carter was a little nervous when he first arrived this morning but it didn’t take long before he came out of his shell. He was put into a group along with Bear and they had a very fun time in the yard together. When Carter walked outside he was a bit shy as he scurried through all of the dogs to make his way into the agility yard where he could start exploring, but just as he did that all of the other dogs noticed that he was new here and all ran towards him to say hi and give him a sniff. Bear spent his day in the staffroom and when it was time for Bear to go outside he was contemplating whether or not he wanted to get out of his comfy spot to go outside, but with a little motivation he got up and walked out the door. As he started walking out into the yard with Carter, Bear kept it slow while he walked along the fence into the agility yard. He walked over to where Carter was and said hi as he began to sniff him, as all of the dogs began saying hi to him Carter began getting very social and outgoing. Some of the dogs began to run around him in circles which just made Carter super excited; he started to run to the other end of the agility yard as one of the dogs chased after him. Carter was loving the attention so much and kept on teasing the others during their game by stopping until they almost caught up to him then running as fast as he could again. Bear watched as the others played around the agility yard but never joined in much, he’s not interested in running around like that now but he still has fun doing other things. He loves to explore and made his way around the entire yard before I called him over to me to get some cuddles.

Miko, Coconut and Pippin are all so much fun when they are outside together. Right as they walked out the door Miko and Coconut hit it off. I was a little unsure at first that Coconut would socialize with many of the dogs since she seemed a little shy but it turns out she’s not at all! Miko ran right over to her and gave her a quick sniff before jumping up on her back to try and wrestle around with her. Coconut was enjoying this and did it right back to Miko. Once Coconut made her move it was on! Miko ran all the way into the further yard where Coconut chased after him and they began to run around in circles around the grass. They stopped every now and then to say hi to the other dogs but whenever they came near each other they would begin to race again. That’s when Miko walked over to Pippin. Pippin took it easy at first when he got outside and wandered around the gravel on his own to explore before saying hello to any of the other dogs. He trotted over to the fence and sniffed around all of the plants  before walking towards the grass yard where he continued his exploring. When Miko walked over to him he was a little unsure whether or not he wanted to play but as Miko started to bounce around him he couldn’t help but to give in. These two started playing and running around just like Miko did with Coconut, then circled around the agility tunnel a few times before making their way all the way back to the gravel yard where Coconut was wandering around on her own. Miko and Pippin walked over to her and invited her to join them. After that all three of them began to play for a little while before they were tired. After that they all split up as they trotted around the yard on their own sniffing around and socialing with the other dogs.

Abby and Jock spent a little time in the kitchen this morning before moving back to a kennel with all of the other dogs. They were in such happy moods when they first walked out the door as they began to run along the fence to go into the further yard to run around all of the grass. Just as they made their way into it, it began to rain. None of the little dogs like the rain that much as they began to run around in circles to quickly finish their business before taking cover underneath something that blocked the rain.  Jock trotted around in circles with the other small dogs. Abby didn’t mind getting a bit wet while Jock wasn’t feeling the wet at all and stuck as close as he could to the door so that he was under the roof and it protected him from the rain drops. After a bit of wandering around the small dogs Abby seemed to want to do more and decided to just ignore the rain as she walked back out in the middle of the yard to sniff around more.

Westley is such a cute little dog. He was pretty shy this morning with me when I first opened his kennel door but as soon as he saw the other dogs he began to get really excited since he started to wiggle his body around all of the others in the yard. When I reached down to pet him he took right off onto the other side of the yard where he started to explore on his own around the grass. This boy had his nose touched to the ground the whole time as he was sniffing and didn’t even lift his head once. When it started raining all of the other small dogs ran over to the door while it didn’t impact Westley at all; he could care less if he was wet and was the only small dog that actually enjoyed the rain. He took the chance to prance around the grass yard all by himself since he didn’t have to share it with any of the other dogs. They all watched him by the door as if he was crazy for liking the rain but it didn’t bother him. When he was done running around he trotted over to the door and said hi to the others as they waited to go back inside.

Sadie and Max were quite excited to be back for some fun. I was rather impressed with how quickly they calmed themselves down when it was time to go out, since they have to sit and not scream at me in excitement before they can go out. As soon as I opened the door Max and Sadie went booking it into the yard. Max immediately went racing over to Justice and Boris who were already racing around the yard. Sadie watched him go then decided to go and join Kyah who was looking at something in the grass. Max was having so much fun racing around and wrestling with Boris and Justice. Wanting them to have a little more room to run around I opened the gate to the connecting yard. Max went tearing out to see what was going on out there. Sadie not wanting to miss out went trotting out after him. Max found himself being bounced on by Tasha who rather wanted to play with him. They were pretty adorable to watch. Sadie was still all about her exploring, but she noticed Boris checking stuff out by the pallets and decided to make her way over and join him. After she had thoroughly checked everything out she wandered off to explore even more of the yard. Max had finally burned off enough energy and decided to go and join Sadie while she did her exploring.

Tasha and Boris wasted no time booking it out the door. When they got out there both were pretty happy to see Justice, Magic, and Kyah. It took all of a second for Boris to go off racing around with Justice and Magic. Tasha watched him go and then decided to go do some exploring around the yard. Max and Sadie joined the group shortly after that and Boris was more than happy to have someone else to run with. I opened the gate to the connecting door for some more running room. As soon as Tasha noticed she went trotting over there to check it out. She met up with Max and decided she’d rather like to play with him. Soon Tasha was play bowing and bouncing on him. Boris was curious about what was going on in the other yard and went running out and did a lap. Seeing his mom and Max he decided to do a little exploring around the pallets and in the grass. Sadie, Justice and Magic soon joined him. It didn’t take long for Boris, Justice and Magic to give up on exploring and go racing off to play some more. They ended up racing back to the other yard where Boris went racing into the tunnel. Tasha eventually needed a break from playing and decided to go back to checking things out.

Finnegan went racing out into the yard and immediately set out to do a quick lap. That done he went charging to the pool and hopped right in. Finnegan was lying down and getting himself as wet as he possibly could about two seconds after he got into the pool. He didn’t have the pool to himself for too long as Adele went and joined him. This was apparently a good cue for Finnegan to go racing out of the pool and off around the yard, Adele and Zennon close on his heels. After quite the work out Finnegan decided it was time for the pool once more. He splashed around for a while then was ready to play once more. Finnegan made his way back to Adele and started to run around. They ended up over by the tunnel, which Finnegan was happy to go racing through. Their antics caught Duke’s eye and he went bouncing over to join them.

Gracie made her way out to the agility yard and had only made it about five feet when she was stopped by Lexi and Odessa who very much wanted to check her over. After saying her hellos to them and a few others Gracie set out to do some exploring in the grass. I think she was pretty happy that the rain was holding out and she wasn’t getting wet. Gracie was distracted from her exploring when she spotted Finnegan tearing around the yard with a few others racing after him. She stopped what she was doing so she could watch their antics. Gracie eventually got back to her exploring. Her journey around the yard brought her my way and she was more than happy to have a little visit. Once Gracie had had enough pets she headed back out to do some more exploring. Odessa decided to tag along after her. After a little more exploring Gracie made her way back to me and we spent some more time together, where I had fun making noises and taking pictures of her expressions.

Viggo was pretty happy to get outside. He didn’t even seem to mind that as his group headed outside it started to rain. Viggo went out to see what some of the others were up to. When he met up with Mombasso he was instantly infatuated with him. Viggo spent quite some time giving Mombo a very thorough once over. Once he had done that he decided to tag along with him as he wandered around the yard. Eventually Viggo did branch away from Mombo to check out a couple areas that he wanted to. When he finished with that Viggo headed right back to Mombo to check on him. It was very sweet.
