Pepper had a great day. She let out a few whines of excitement this morning when I came in. For her walk on the trails, she walked with Bogie and Bacall. After the walk, it was time for Pepper's group to go outside. Pepper happily followed me out the door and into the yard with the other dogs. Once we were outside, Pepper took the time to explore around a bit before going over to the other dogs. Eventually, she found her way to the grassy part of the yard where all of her friends were. Flash was running around playing fetch with a tennis ball, and suddenly, Pepper wanted to play too! Pepper really enjoyed the extra attention today. She started to happily bounce around as I came to see her.  She curled up onto her bed as I sat beside her and slowly stroked her head and back. She reached her head over to me and sniffed out some treats I had put in my pocket prior to coming to see Pepper. For Pepper's training, we practiced her heel command outside, but it was very hot this afternoon so we didn't spend too much time outside. She was incredible, though, really anticipating when I was going to move and coming with me. Making sure she had a go sniff reward as well as lots of praise motivates Pepper very well as she doesn't seem too enthusiastic about treats. Inside in the nice cool reception area, we started working on place command with the armchair and then used Pepper's own bed. She was doing well with going to place and we started trying some duration work to see if she could stay on place for a little while longer. Pepper is doing very well so far.

Zoe and Flash had a great day. In the morning, they were happy and ready to get out for their first group. Next, it was time for walks. Zoe and Flash walked with Oscar on the trails. A little later on when it was time for their next outdoor play group, the two were once again happy to go outside. In the yard, Zoe followed me around as I walked all over. She seemed happy to stay by my side and would get lots of cuddles when I'd stop walking. Meanwhile, Flash was very energetic and ready to play. He found a small green tennis ball lying around in the yard. He came over to me with the ball and dropped it near my feet. I tossed it across the yard and he ran after it as fast as he could. He was so happy when playing fetch, so we continued to play for the duration of the outdoor time. Zoe came and joined me as I sat on a rock. She jumped up and got some cuddles.

Minnie is such a cutie! In the morning when she arrived, Minnie got out on a walk as soon as possible so she could blow off a little steam. She walked with Roxy and Trixie, two very sweet girls. She enjoyed exploring around on the trails for the first time. A little later on, it was time for her to meet all the dogs in her outdoor play group. She got outside and started bouncing around happily. All of the dogs in her group came over to greet her. Everyone got along great! She wandered into the nice green and grassy part of the yard with the other dogs. At one point she plopped down onto the grass and started wiggling around. She looked up at me while flopped on her back and I came over to give her a cuddle. When it came time for Minnie's extra attention, she was very excited to see me come up to her kennel. During her extra attention, Minnie got lots and lots of cuddles. I scratched her back leg and she stretched her leg out as much as she could. She curled up in front of my feet and I pet her.

Kid was full of energy today as per usual. As soon as she got here this morning she went out for her walk which was the perfect way to get her used to being back. Kid was excited to meet up with two new friends, our bloodhound rescues, Duke and Adele. They made her feel like part of the pack right from the get go as they started on their walk. Throughout Kid’s walk, she enjoyed spending most of her time right at the end of her leash wanting to go faster and faster. Every so often, Kid would stop dead in her tracks when she had caught onto a good scent but that would quickly pass as she raced to the end of her leash once again. When it came time for her outdoor group she went racing out to the agility yard with the rest of the group. Kid started running a couple laps around the yard seeing what was going on with all of the other dogs in her group before she decided what she wanted to do. Soon enough, Kid set out to do some exploring in the grass. When Kid noticed that the group was making their way back to the main yard she went running after them. She spent some time trotting around waiting for someone to start running around. After waiting for quite some time - it was pretty hot out there - Kid decided she was more interested in the pool. At this point we had a good amount of water in the pool and Kid was quite happy to go and splash around to cool off afterwards.

Roxy and Trixie were very excited to be back here at Tails & Trails today. As soon as they got here this morning I could just see the excitement on their faces as they knew that it was close to walk time. Once I went to get them ready to go, the two girls went crazy! Roxy was jumping up at the kennel and dancing on her little feet while Trixie was bouncing all around in the kennel behind Roxy. Soon enough I got them all ready to go and they didn’t need to take their time to race outside into the yard, looking back at me as if to tell me to hurry up. The rest of their walk continued to be quite energetic and fast. The two little girls were all over the place whether they were sniffing in the long grass, racing back and forth across the trail, or chasing one another. This of course led to a big tangled mess for the three of us but they patiently waited for me to untangle them each time and would just continue with the same activities afterwards, silly girls. When it came to their outdoor play group, Roxy and Trixie weren’t as playful. I think they might have been a bit hot outside today because they seemed to simply want to snuggle in the shade. I had Roxy sitting up on my lap while I was on the picnic table for a little while. Soon enough, Trixie noticed and decided she must be involved if Roxy was. The two of them joined me up there for quite some time before finally deciding to socialize with the other dogs a little bit. I tried to get Trixie to come play in the pool but she’d rather watch than get wet. Roxy on the other hand decided to stick her nose and paw in for a little while before moving on to her next activity
