It’s always a good day when Bella and Jake join us for
daycare! The pair were wagging their tails in excitement when it was time to
head out onto the trail for their morning walk. They were paired up with fellow
daycare friend Tag the schnauzer, who they were happy to see again later on
during their first group outing of the day. Jake was feeling silly and leapt
around the yard with his ears flapping in the wind, while Bella was very busy
saying hello to her friends, including Coco the beagle, Julie in her
wheelchair, Resa the tricolor cutie, and teeny tiny Barbara. Bella was feeling
pretty mellow for the first little while that we spent outside, while Jake went
off to jump in here and there with Tag, Finnigan and Timbits as they ran around
the yard. I gave Bella a little bit of a treat and Jake immediately sped over
to get in on the secret snacks. They both stuck around with me and were happy
to have lots of pets and cuddles. Tiffani joined us outside, which meant they
could both be cuddled equally at the same time! Bella gave lots of hugs and
kisses, while I knelt down and Jake practically climbed right up onto my lap.
The pair found their wiggles near the end of our outing and had a little
wrestling match together, since they’re each others’ favourite playmate!
Coco and Timbits were more than happy to see Miss Charly the
golden when it came time for their walk this morning. She’s such a happy and
bouncy girl, which is exactly Timbits’ cup of tea, and keeps Coco on her toes
on the trail. Timbits pounced and wove through the long grass along the edge of
the trail, while Coco hung back behind her walking buddies to hunt down all of
the good scents. Later on during group time, Coco took her usual post by the
wooden fence to soak up some sunshine, while Timbits went and said hello to
Barb, who he met yesterday. He loves her puppy energy and is the most patient
boy! Barb liked to roll on the ground underneath Timbits today, pawing and
nibbling at his long ears from underneath. He was very gentle with her and let
her have her fun. He eventually ventured out to the main yard and joined in a
game of chase with friends Finnigan and Tag, zipping and zooming as fast as
their legs would carry them around the yard. Coco came out to keep an eye on
Timbits as she likes to do when he starts to play. Tiffani came outside to join
us in the yard and scooped Coco up for some snuggles while we watched the games
unfold.
Cascabelle was ready to play from the moment she set foot
outside this morning! After breakfast, we headed out through the yard towards
the walking trail, where Cascabelle found herself a brand new “chuck-it” ball,
which was too good to leave behind. She scooped it up and carried it the whole
way around the field, silly girl! She was reunited with the ball a little bit
later on in the day when we went out for playtime. Cascabelle enjoyed playing
fetch with both the ball and a green rubbery bone type toy as well. Her
favourite thing was to catch the ball or toy, and then run immediately to the
kiddie pool and splash around in circles before bringing the toy back to me to
throw again. She had some competition here and there throughout our games
together, including Golden Retrievers Sophie and Bentley, as well as Bentley
the Doberman. She ran and fetched as many times as I would throw for her; she
certainly lives up to her breed as a retriever!
Cascabelle's tail is always wagging. She carried the red ball up to the reception area and kept dropping it at my feet while I found a leash to take her out for extra attention time. She picked it back up to carry outside for some fetch. I tossed the ball for her into the long grass where she had to search for it. She would pounce onto the ball and all I could see of her was her happy tail swinging back and forth until she emerged from the grass carrying her prized possession. After many rounds of fetch we went for a calm stroll around the trail, Cascabelle of course made sure to carry the red ball with her. Once our walk was over we headed back inside to cool down. I pulled out the treat puzzle and filled it with yummy liver treats. Cascabelle was determined the get every little crumb out of the compartments, she even tried to take the whole thing apart. Silly girl!

Sophie marched in this morning with her famous smile on her
face, ready to go and have some fun! She was full to the brim with wiggles and
silliness, and couldn’t wait to get down to business. We had a walk to attend
to first, though and Sophie was more than happy to march along the trail with
two other Golden Retrievers, both named Bentley. She met up with her Golden
buddies in the yard during groups today, as well as many other welcoming faces,
including Cascabelle the yellow Lab. Sophie and Cascabelle were both on the
same page as far as playtime went today, and gave each other a run for their
money while playing fetch. Sophie definitely enjoyed the excitement,
anticipation and the actual running more than catching the toy, so they made a
great pair to play together. After a while Sophie went to cool down in the
pool, and fully laid down on her side to make sure she was thoroughly
refreshed. She then went and had a roll around in the grass, which is the
natural next step after going for a dip! She came to see me with the biggest
grin on her face, and then took off flying around the yard with Cascabelle and
the Bentley twins once again!
Victory, Kane and Chloe were the three amigos of their group
today and to no surprise they were inseparable for most of the morning! The
three of them had just come back from their morning trail walk and were now
ready to play! With similar playful personalities, they wasted no time getting
into play mode and they started chasing one another across the grassy yard in
full speed. I had to move out of the way as they came tumbling over as I opened
the gate into the adjacent yard where I was filling up the pool for them.
Victory was so thrilled to have daycare pals Kane and Chloe in for the day. She
loves having a variety of friends to play with new with everyday and they just
happened to be the perfect match. Once the pool was filled to the brim,
big-girls Chloe and Victory ran over and without hesitation plopped themselves
in. Except there wasn’t much room as they tried to maneuver around, but there
must have been just enough room for slender Kane to jump in and join the pool
party! They wiggled, they wrestled, they ran and best of all, they had the time
of their lives!
Victory was a very adventurous girl this afternoon when it came time for her extra attention. Her nose led me all over the place. To start off, the two of us trotted over to the little hill in the front field where I hooked Victory up onto the extra long leash. She didn't waste any time before she went off exploring further with her new found freedom. I swear Victory was always looking up at me with a big smile on her face! She loved being able to venture off on her own a little bit but always came back to me for cuddles. Next up we went for a walk around the field. Victory must have stopped every 10 feet to sniff around in the long grass. It was so entertaining to see her bounce around through all of the daisies and buttercups in the field. Finally we made our way over to the creek for a short swim. Victory was so excited that she made such a long leap and ended up on the other side of the creek. Eventually she trotted back down for a quick swim before heading back inside.
Oakley was very excited to see a new face to the group
today, it was Husky rescue Cross and she was very interested in meeting this happy
fellow. She immediately got down into a play bow when she sensed how friendly
and playful he was; this is what she usually does when male Husky pal Justice
is around. Even though Justice wasn’t around, she was happy to have found a
replacement and the two of them were fast friends. She also recognized daycare
pals Annie and Zen, she remembers them from last time and graciously allowed
them to come over and sniff her face to say hello. For the rest of the morning
she was all about the cuddles, happy to have Kinsey and Tiff join us out in the
yard, there were so many hands available for pets! Annie and Zen were just as
excited as Oakley was to meet the new rescue Cross. It was probably the most I
have ever seen them play to date. Something about him brought out the silly
side in these girls, especially Zen. She was wiggling and running circles
around Cross all morning. Then she would take off and start whipping around the
yard and this had Charly the Golden trying to keep up wit her. Annie thought
this was hilarious and was just as much interested in playing with Cross as her
silly sister was. Cross loved the girls and their fun-loving personalities and
the three of them had a blast playing together all morning long.
After a morning trot along the back trail, Max and Sadie
were ready to head outside for their group outing with Husky pals Isis and Sky.
Max and Sadie have loved the company of these two sisters and have already
accepted them well into their pack and continue on with their usual Max and Sadie
ways. They were excited that we had the pool set up for them; Max ran over and
put his two front paws in to test the temperature. Sadie on the other hand was
very intrigued, but there was no way she was going to get her paws wet! We did
get some excitement out of her when Kinsey played a few rounds of fetch with
the orange chuck it ball, and she got some good air as she leaped after it and
even fetched it out of the pool with her mouth. But of course, Max and Sadie
spent most of their time wrapped around our legs demanding cuddles!
