Nymeria always has an amazing day when she comes in for daycare on Saturdays. From the moment she got here, Nymeria was go go go all day long. She raced down the hallway and greeted Delaney by giving her a big kiss. When it came time for her long group outing, Nymeria was almost bouncing off the walls with excitement. She tore down the hallway and took off into the yard to meet some new friends. Nymeria was the hit of her whole group today. Everyone wanted to give her an overall sniff as well as play with her for the entire group time. As soon as they were all done sniffing, it was game time. Nymeria took off running through the yard as most of her group followed closely behind her. She zig-zagged everywhere she could think of to try and out run everyone but every so often some one would catch up to her. It was usually her friend Cai that caught her. As soon as he did, the two of them would forget about the rest of their friends, simply to play with one another. At first, Nymeria would shyly bat at Cai but soon enough they would be in a full on play tackle. Nymeria spent her fair share on the top of the tackle but of course she couldn't always be the winner. Lucky for her she was able to sneakily get up and start another race. She was so funny towards the end of her group. As everyone followed her around the yard, Nymeria kept running into the agility tunnel. Then she'd stand at the end of the tunnel, waiting for her best opportunity to jump out and continue running. Towards the end of this group time, she decided it was time to try her luck at the agility jump. Turns out she's a natural! Nymeria spent the rest of her time following me over the jump.
Sophie W. showed me how wild she is with toys today in her long outdoor playgroup. Once we got outside, Sophie W. was a little bit preoccupied with her friends in the group. She went around her group of friends at least four times. Each time she sniffed her friends all over before moving onto the next one. However, once I called her and she saw the bright green toy in my hand, Sophie perked her head up and came running over. I have never seen her so excited than when she saw the toy. Eager to play with it, Sophie jumped up and completely swiped it out of my hand because I wasn’t expecting it. She didn’t seem to care that she had taken it because she was so happy with her new toy. Sophie ran a few laps and went up to the same friends with the toy in her mouth. I think she might have been showing off her prized possession. Sophie then played a little game with me called “No take, only throw” with the toy. She would run up to me and stand at my feet until I bent down to grab the toy and then she would dart off in another direction so that I couldn’t grab it, silly girl. Eventually she let me begin a game of fetch with her and it lasted for the next little while. One of the times that Sophie caught the toy, instead of bringing it back, she brought it into another grass yard. From then on, the grass yard was her kingdom and it was evident that she had control over every spot. Sophie circled around the yard and she made sure that not a single friend could come and steal her toy. Sophie eventually got distracted from her toy towards the end of the group time. Instead, her focus shifted to the agility jump. Sophie loved showing off her moves as she spent the rest of her group time following me over the jump.
Kai was looking forward to her walk in the lovely weather this morning. She was waiting patiently at the door of her kennel, tail wagging in excitement, and could hardly wait for me to put the leash on! We then headed out with her friends Tsavo and Finnigan. The other two rushed ahead while Kai decided to take things at a more relaxed pace. Not even ten feet from the gate, she flopped over to have a roll in the grass. Kai was so happy wriggling around and it took some persuasion to get her to keep walking. After that, Kai was content to explore while we walked, and every so often she would lie down and roll in the grass again. During her group in the morning, Kai was eager to say hello to everyone and wasted no time trotting outside to check out the yard. I opened the gate to the other grass yard and Kai led the way as the dogs set out to explore the new space. Kai found the empty pool quite interesting and spent some time sniffing it over, before moving along to the picnic table. Her friend Ricky, who was also enjoying some peace and quiet, decided to join her as they strolled side by side towards the fence. Kai then walked over to see what I was up to. She politely sat down while I took her picture, and as a reward for her good manners, we had a nice long cuddle. Kai seemed to be in quite the good mood today and went prancing off after our snuggle to check up on the other dogs.
For our extra attention time I took Kai on a walk out back. When we headed down the bank of the stream, Kai was a bit hesitant at first but once she saw how easy it was to get over, she followed happily. Once on the back trail, Kai was engrossed in all the scents and really never wanted to stop investigating and sniffing but we did have to get back so we came back across the bridge. I sat on the edge of the wooden bridge and let Kai sniff around the bank of the stream until she was distracted by the dogs who were out in the back yard. We headed back around the trail. Neither of us wanted to go inside, it was such a beautiful afternoon, so we sat on the side of the berm for a while, where Kai got right down under the long grass and had a good roll. Inside, we did a quick treat puzzle and then it was time for some rest.

Jemma is such a funny girl! Today in the yard she was happy to see everybody and couldn’t decide which dog to sniff first, racing around the group with her tail waving around in the air. Eventually she settled on her good friend from daycare, Finnigan. She snuck up on him while he was sniffing around and then playfully pounced on his back. Then Jemma went bouncing off with Finn on her tail, followed by Glory, who had witnessed the action. The three of them ran a quick lap and then happily called a truce, with Jemma trotting over to check out the picnic table. When I tapped it, she quickly hopped up, but as soon as I moved away from the table, Jemma would leap off to follow me. Eventually I gave up trying to take her picture and found her a toy instead. She raced after it, tossed it in the air a few times and then was distracted by her look-a-like in the yard today, Indi. The two of them play-bowed and then leaped up in the air, with Indi twisting around to dodge Jemma’s pounce. Jemma then went racing to the other yard, where she dove through the play structure and waited patiently on the other side to ambush Indi. Unfortunately her friend had wandered off, so Jemma decided it was a good time for some cuddles! Jemma and I headed to the playroom for her extra attention today. There were plenty of toys strewn about after the huskies had been checking out the bin…so there were lots to choose from. Jemma wandered around sniffing each one, and then decided that she would rather have a belly rub. We snuggled for a while and Jemma happily lazed in the sun by the window. Then I found Jemma a bone, and she carried it around proudly before settling down to have a good chew.
Sam was very excited for her walk this morning, and even more so when she got to meet Caesar and Zak, who were joining us. She bounced between the two of them, trying to say hello to both at once, and then went racing ahead once we reached the trail. For most of the walk, Sam was happy to trot back and forth, exploring the grass. Occasionally she would get a burst of energy and go barreling ahead. Then Zak would chase after her, they would playfully bump shoulders and continue on their way as if nothing had happened. For her group time, Sam got to make some more friends! She bounced out into the yard like a little puppy and eagerly waited while I let out Magic and Justice. The other two politely sniffed her over while Sam was practically bursting with energy. I called Sam over to the grass yard and her feet hardly seemed to touch the ground as she ran towards me. As soon as I picked up a rubber toy, Sam leaped up and then landed in a sitting position at my feet, tail wagging, as she got ready to race after the toy. We played fetch for a while; until Sam decided that she didn’t want to give the toy back anymore and carried it around to show off to her friends. When Sam finally settled down and took a break from racing around the yard, she was happy to have a cuddle with me before we headed inside. Boy was Sam ever excited for her extra attention time. When I went to get her from her kennel this afternoon, she was already waiting right by her kennel for me. The two of us raced down the hallway, ready for some exercise outside. Sam's goal was to run as many circles around me as she could. A tone point I simply stood in one spot and let her run around me non stop. Sam was moving so fast that I could hardly even get a picture of her on the camera! Once she had gotten a good amount of energy out, Sam and I went to sit on top of the hill out front. Here, I gave Sam a belly rub as well as a head scratch. Soon enough, Sam and I were racing through the front yard once again to end of her extra attention time.
Mosey was more than ready to get outside for groups and she happily led the way to the yard, with the other two small dogs following her. Right away she set out to explore, and spent some time nosing around in the grass with Beauty. I could tell that Mosey was eager to run around because she was hopping from place to place with much more energy than the other two, so I brought out Finnigan to see if Mosey would play with him. She seemed excited to meet this new dog and gave him a sniff, then suddenly Finn play-bowed and Mosey wasn’t quite sure what to do. She went running off and she quickly scampered after him. Although they didn’t play too much, both of them were side by side while they wandered around the yard. If Finnigan got too far ahead of Mosey, she would bounce to his side in an instant. I crouched down to give Mosey some cuddles and she quickly snuggled up against my legs while I pet her. Finn, jealous of all the attention that she was getting, rolled over on his back and waved his paws at me. Mosey trotted over and cautiously poked at him with her nose. Then Finn jumped to his feet and raced towards the grass yard, with Mosey on his tail. He wandered off to continue sniffing around, though Mosey was looking for someone to play with so I went over and pretended to chase her around, while she happily leapt out of my reach. Finally she settled down again and we had one last cuddle before it was time to head inside.
Miss Allie Cat has quite a few friends staying with her in the cat room now. An old friend of hers, Shimmer, came in this morning and Allie was happy to spend her time out of her suite with him. Linus and Remi are also quite familiar to her by now, which makes for a nice comfortable atmosphere. Allie was a bit lazy today, but she was very ready to get out and explore by late afternoon. She popped up on the window sill, always her first port of call, and then headed up to the top of one of the cat trees. I played some teaser games with her, and then Tiffani sat on the chair, hoping for a cuddle. Allie always prefers her pets at a little more arms length, but she tolerated being a bit closer for a minute or so.
