Coco found a comfy spot in the yard the moment she got outdoors. The warm gravel was too nice to resist. She sprawled out, baking in the sun, opening her eyes every once in a while to monitor the action going on around her. After a nice sunny nap, Coco hopped up to check out what Timbits was going crazy over. She was surprised to find herself in the middle of a beagle play session, including Timbits and Bailey. Coco played the motherly role with this duo, scolding them when they got too rough and letting them know what puppy behaviour was acceptable, and not acceptable. She continued to watch them play from the grassy yard as she sniffed and explored around.

Timbits had a stellar day with his favourite beagle pal, Bailey. Timbits tries to play the tough guy when he’s goofing around with his puppy buddy, but always ends up giving in and goofing around. They have a lot of fun running around the yard after one another. Timbits taught Bailey how to hop on the picnic table, and how much fun the pool is. His ears flap in the wind as he runs about, which is one of my favourite things about him. He was happy when Coco joined in on their games. He tried inviting her to play but she was much more focused on controlling the two hooligans. After some more playing, Timbits broke off from all the fun to sniff and explore. He found something that smelt delicious in the stones along the perimeter of the yard. He was desperately trying to roll on it, but couldn’t accomplish his desired task as the rocks were pointy and sharp. I got a good laugh at this, He was happy to wander off and continue exploring until it was time to head back indoors.

Bailey is the cutest little lady. She keeps me laughing all day long. She has some silly traits about her when she is playing and running around the yard. What makes me laugh the most is the fact that she tries to squeeze under all the gates between the yards, rather than hopping over them like all the other dogs. Sometimes she manages to get through, but most of the time she has to back herself out and leap over. Bailey met a new friend today, and loved him to pieces. Finnigan, the daycare regular, was a great match for her. These two met up when I introduced a Frisbee to the play group. Both Finn and Bailey are very toy motivated, which encouraged them to meet up and get playing. I was happy to see the pair sharing the toy so politely. Bailey respected that Finn was ab it older and let him get away with it most of the time. Occasionally, she would snatch it up from underneath him and bolt off with him. Finn was happy to zip and zoom around the yard after her. She led him all around and next thing I knew, Finn was in the lead with Bailey chasing after him. Timbits was keen to join in on the fun too, and then Coco was in the mix as well. Finn and Bailey never stopped moving, I had a smile on my face watching their friendship grow and grow throughout the day.

Abby and Dudley are a sweet little pair. These two couldn’t be happier to  finally have some sunshine. The warmth encourages the duo to wander far into the yard and explore. Dudley will follow me basically wherever I go. If I stop, he is sure to stop right on my feet. He looks up at me with his sweet eyes, politely asking for a pet. Whenever I kneel to cuddle him, Abby isn’t far behind. They are both so loving and are always open to accepting an sort of attention. After a lot of wandering around, and sniffing, Abby made her way into the gravel yard to check up on her other independent group friends. She found Rocky and Resa lying in the sun, and decided to join them. After basking in the sun, she went into the shade to relax. Meanwhile, Dudley was exploring with a daycare friend, Jock. Jock and Dudley enjoyed one another’s company in the sun as they sniffed and explored until it was time to return indoors.

May and Rocky weren’t feeling all that playful today, although Maya did get an invite. Finnigan always tries to goof around when Maya when provided the opportunity, however, she doesn’t always give him the time of day. She stuck her nose up to the silly guy right away today, which only encourage him to try harder. As he pranced around her she continued to hold her nose in the air looking left and right, in the opposite direction that he was on. He finally gave up, leaving Maya in peace. Maya was happy to park herself next to her brother, Rocky, and enjoy the warm rays of sunshine. They both enjoyed basking in the sun with the company of Resa, Julie, and Abby. When I head in their direction to offer them pets and cuddles they couldn’t have been happier. Both Maya and Rocky enjoyed a good head scratch as well as some nice pats down their sides. They were both so warm and soft from the hot beams. When it was time to return indoors I had to wake Rocky up from his nap to make sure he noticed the rest of the crew heading down the hall.

Abbie and Jock always enjoy their time here. It seems as though they haven’t been here in a while, which provided them with a lot to sniff and explore in the yard. The pair was very busy for the entire duration of group time. Both Abbie and Jock had their nose deep in the grass, all around the yard. It took a lot for me to get them distracted enough to look at me. Jock enjoyed exploring with a mate named Dudley, while Abbie was more keen to wander around on her own. When they made their way back to the gravel yard they met up with one another and seemed surprised to run into each other. They then continued to sniff and explore side by side. When it was time to return indoors they were happy to head into the groom room and get their spring cleaning started.

Kai never fails to put a smile on my face. Today was a very warm day in the yard. Some dogs sought out shade in corners, while others splashed around in puddles. Kai was the smartest of them all. She made her way into the tunnel where she lay down and had a nice nap in her own shade. She got out to come hang out with me and get pets and cuddles for a bit, but then made her way right back in for some more nap and shade time. The other dogs were a bit confused as to why she was just lying in the tunnel, rather than playing. She barely payed attention to them checking her out. Towards the end of group time Kai made her way around the yard to sniff and explore. As the youngsters bolted by her, mid chase, she got a shot of energy. She briefly bounced after them, and then tore around in the longer grass for a moment. She quickly realized she was suddenly in the middle of all the puppies playing, and fled from the action to my side. I was happy to spend the remainder of group time cuddling miss Kai in the warm sun.

Tsavo and I enjoyed our morning walk, alongside two lovely golden retrievers. Tsavo loves wandering into the long grass and sniffing around. The grass in the field is so long right now, all I could see was her tail wagging back and forth. Occasionally, she would pop her head up and her ears were poking through the grass too. Tsavo was happy to lead the the walk with her two golden friends trotting behind. In the yard Tsavo was mostly interested in sniffing and exploring. When she came across Magic, she got a bit excited. She began trotting after Magic with her tail wagging. She was very eager to get Magic playing around. Without much luck, she wandered over to Georgia to see what she was up to. Georgia was happy to dance around with Tsavo for a bit. Next thing Tsavo knew, she was involved in games with Georgia and Blue. After a brief amount of games, Tsavo broke off to do some more exploring. She was happy to accept pets and cuddles from me, as we as from Tiffani as she was doing some cleaning outdoors. Before we returned indoors, Tsavo got one more burst of energy and tore off around the yard with a smile on her face. She was then more than happy to trot down the hall and into her kennel, where she enjoyed a nice afternoon nap, prior to her next outing.

Sophie W was full of beans today; it must have been the beautiful sun because she was in an extremely playful mood and ready to play fetch! We all know how much she loves to play fetch, but some days she prefers to cuddle instead, so you never know what mood she will be in. Well today she was surrounded by all of her favorite friends and she was leaping and bounding in the air after the orange ring toy. Daycare pal Finn and Sophie T the Shepherd were anxiously waiting with her for me to throw the toy, but Sophie was usually the first to catch it, she’s still got it! Next she spent a relaxing afternoon in the spa so she will look fresh for her family, we will be sad to see her go!

Poppy was nose down to the grass from the moment she leapt out of her kennel and outside. She was in an investigative mood and very interested in the tall blades of grass by the fence; it was hard for me to get her attention. When she was done her laps around the yard, she was ready to socialize and ran over to me with a great big smile on her face. Poppy is a very calm, yet social girl so she is always a great addition to her groups, and today was no exception. She happily trotted around the yard and said hello to all of her friends, she even gave me a perfect jump over the agility jump!

Issy and Mocha were ready to start their day off with their usual trot of the back trail, definitely their favorite part of the day, especially for Mocha. When I approached their kennel door with leashes in hand, Mocha immediately jumped up and started barking in excitement! She doesn’t like to do too much out in the yard but she is definitely perky and playful for her walks. This is where she usually gets down and starts rolling around in the grass, Issy and Kimi had to wait for her to get the rolls out before they could continue on! To no surprise, out in the yard she found a spot by the door. It ended up being the perfect spot because it was in the shade and it was a very warm and sunny day. Issy did venture out in the yard to get her exercise in and she was happy to see nephew Nyxx again, he always seems to get a rise out of her. But she did loop back around to join Mocha in the shade and so did Nyxx, so he disturbed Mocha and Issy’s peace and quiet, but they didn’t seem to mind the attention!

It was tongues out Thursday for our daycare guest group; Kimi, Teddy, Cai and Spencer sure did enjoy their time out in the sun today and they all graced me with big sloppy wet tongues. I think I was fully covered in drool by the time their group was over! Teddy spotted Spencer from a mile away, these two are truly the best of buds and Teddy sprinted over to him and started jumping up and down on his back to say hello! Spencer didn’t mind, he just looked up at me with the biggest smile and let Teddy wrestle all over him. Then Spencer was off to explore the yard but it wasn’t long before he found a comfy spot by the door in the shade with lady friends Kyah and Merida. Teddy on the other hand embraced the sun; he was all smiles today and happily herded Red and I in the yard. He was very happy to meet our Bloodhound rescue Red and confidently introduced himself to the big happy guy! Cai and Kimi were all tongues today, it was such a beautiful morning to be out with their favorite friends, but they kept it fairly quiet today because it was too hot to break a sweat. Cai was in an exceptionally cuddly mood and was often found by my side for head rubs and he thanked me with sloppy kisses. Kimi had her ears perked up in amusement as her and Red watched the small-dog group from the adjacent yard. Her tail would wiggle every time she heard the little ones bark from afar! But business as usual for Kimi today, she likes to stoically sit in the yard and watch the movement around her on most days!
