Abby S. is such a sweet girl, and had a lovely walk this morning with her friend Nymeria. She brought a wonderful calm energy everywhere she went, being the perfect friend for Nymeria. During play time she was very calm and relaxed. She trotted around the yard checking everything out. Her and her buddy Cascabelle were always attentive whenever I picked up a toy and would chase after it together. She was curious as to what was going on outside the play yard as well, looking out into the field with the other dogs. She plays so nicely and is always so calm and respectful towards the other dogs. Even when it started to rain a bit she was ready to play. Abby was such a happy girl to go outside with Alyssa for her extra attention time. Since she loved it so much yesterday, we decided it would be fun to bring her back into the long grass and near the daisies. Abby trotted right to the same spot and starting rolling about in the grass for quite some time. After she was done rolling, Abby jumped up and gave me a huge kiss before she went back to exploring. She ended up sniffing out the liver treats that I had in my pocket and we stopped for a little while so that she could have some of those.
Vasco had a blast during play time today. Even though it was a bit rainy out he had a good time making lots friends. He got along wonderfully with German shepherds Viggo and Riley, all of them following each other around the yard. They investigated all the different rainy day smells and were constantly saying hello to each other. Vasco is such a happy and sweet dog and was really a part of the pack, playing and getting along so well with everyone. He was really curious as to what was happening out in the field as well and kept a watchful eye. He really is a popular guy, and was always excited to be in the middle of all the action. Vasco was quite an excited boy when it was time to join me for his extra attention time. He popped right out of his kennel and was ready to go exploring in the field. As soon as we got outside, Vasco led the way through the field while I tried to follow behind. His nose was leading him all sorts of places from in the daisies, to down by the creek and even in the long grass. Throughout the entire time that we were outside he had me moving. However towards the end, we took a few seconds to cuddle in the field. When Vasco and I came inside it was treat time! I got him to sit as well as lay down a few times and he'd do anything for the treat.
Max and Sadie weren't too sure about the weather this morning but they were still excited to join me for their play group. The three of us went skipping into the yard full of energy. Max took into the farther grass yard and was immediately ready to play with Sadie. Sadie took a bit of encouragement before she wanted to go but eventually the two of them were zipping through the field. Sadie was almost always in the lead with Max following closely behind her. They played tackled for quite some time before coming over to me for some cuddles. Max jumped right up onto the picnic table and greeted me with plenty of kisses. Sadie seemed to be a little jealous since Max had taken one of her favorite spots so she went over to the kiddy pool. However, today there was a bit of rain water in the pool so Sadie wasn't as interested in laying in it, silly girl. Soon enough I went inside to grab a few treats for the two of them. They must have smelt them from inside because as soon as I stepped out the door, Max and Sadie were in front of me waiting for a treat. I got them to show off a few tricks before getting them which they did an amazing job of doing. To end off their group time, Max, Sadie, and I all snuggled in the yard while Sadie got a long belly rub.
Mickey and Teddy were soaking up the
cuddles outside today! They went about their usual rounds of the yard to begin.
Teddy, being the social little guy that he is, went over to say hello to his
lady friends, Darby and Lili. The ladies were happy to see him and Teddy
followed them around for a few minutes. Mickey quietly said hello to some other
dogs and then walked around. Although he’s rather small, he loved to parade
through the longer grass, exploring and looking for something new to sniff.
Once Mickey had explored all the new spots in the yard, he stood in the gravel
yard near Amber and watched as Teddy ran around the yard. Teddy wanted to play
with Darby, but Darby was rather relaxed and not looking to run around with
Teddy. Tiffani soon then came and joined us in the yard and Teddy was curious
and went to sniff her paws. Mickey was also more inviting and when Tiffani
stuck out her hand for him to sniff, he gently sniffed her and scooted in a
little more, wanting some gentle pets on the head. Tiffani was very gentle with
Mickey and the two of them ended up sharing lots of snuggles. Mickey looked
rather comfortable in Tiffani’s arms. He sniffed her face, and looked around
the yard from his high vantage point. Teddy was a little jealous of this
attention so he leaped up on Tiffani’s leg, as if to say that he wanted up too!
Tiff held Mickey in one arm and Teddy in the other and they all snuggled
together for a few minutes while I took some very handsome photos of these two
boys. Once it was time to head inside, Mickey and Teddy happily went into their
kennels where Mickey snuggled up on the bed. Teddy waited near the door of the
kennel. After not waiting for very long, he was happy to receive his lunchtime
treat. Mickey was a little more hesitant to eat his, but after giving it a good
sniff, he ate it happily.
Jack and Maggie had such a wonderful first
day here! They got all settled in their kennel with their comfy beds in the
morning and not soon after it was time for them to head outside for their first
outing with their new friends. Maggie was super excited to get outside, but
Jack was a little more hesitant of the dogs. Jack sniffed all the other dogs
outside while Maggie stayed back and watched her brother mingle. Maggie was
happy to be overseeing all the activities in the yard, but she wasn’t in the
mood for playing. Maggie was getting lots of pets and attention from Tiffani
and myself in the yard. Her favorite spot is right on the top of her head. She
closed her eyes whenever she was getting a good scratch or pet and sat her bum down, to enjoy her massage. Jack’s new favorite friend in the yard was Lili, a puppy
that is boarding with us as well. Lili was super playful and inviting to Jack.
He was happy that she liked him and he sniffed her and stood over her as she
rolled around on the grass in front of him. Jack followed her around the yard for
a few minutes, intrigued by how excited she was. Maggie was not far behind her
brother. Maggie came to me for lots of cuddles whenever she veered off from her
brother. Once they were both done with their mingling, these two couldn’t be
happier to get back inside and enjoy their lunches. I gave them both a quick
cuddle before leaving them to their comfy beds for a nap. Maggie and Jack spent their extra attention time with me up
in the front reception area. These two wandered around for a little bit before
going over to see who was sitting behind the desk. Maggie and Jack convinced Tiffani
to spare them some treats, so they sat very politely and waited for their liver
treats, which they loved! After realizing there were no more, Maggie moved on
to check out the toy bin. She pondered through them all, deciding on which one
she liked the most, but she ultimately wasn’t too interested in any so she
walked away. Meanwhile, Jack made himself a cozy hangout spot on the comfy
chair. He perched there and enjoyed some pets and a good back scratch. Maggie
wanted to get up on the chair too but just as she was about to jump, Jack lied
down and took up all the room. I sat down on the floor with her and rubbed her
ears and her back until it was time to head back.
In the yard today, all Dudley wanted to do was get lots of cuddles! He sat by me the entire time, only straying away sometimes to either do his business or stop to say hello to his sister, Abby. Abby was a little explorer today! She was joined by some new-comers, Jack and Maggie and Abby was determined to be the first ones to meet them. She went right up to them and stuck her nose on them right away. I could see her little tail wagging the whole time. Once she became aquainted, she wandered off and checked out the tiny pool. There wasn't much water in it, only some from the rain, but Abby hopped in there anyways! She stood on the edge for a few moments, debating with herself whether she should go in or not and she opted to hop in. She was glad that she did because she spent quite a bit of time in there, and running in and out of the pool! Dudley went over to check out what she was doing, but dismissed the pool as not so fun and came and planted his bottom right in front of my shoes. Needless to say these two have each fallen into different routines in the yard! I sat down with Dudley and he put his little paws right on my knee while I stroked his head and rubbed his ears.
Abby and Dudley had a ball in the front today for their extra
attention time! As soon as I opened their kennel door in the afternoon, they
knew it was time to head up there and play so they each raced there as fast as
they could. They stopped by in the kitchen to say hello to Lauren as she was
eating her lunch. They got some quick pets and cuddles and then kept moving. Up
front, they immediately started playing. Abby and Dudley were tumbling all over
each other. They would roll on the ground together and then Abby would spring up and leap away and then they would do the same thing over again in a different spot on the floor. Once they were done playing, I made sure that they each got equal amounts of snuggles. Abby likes the ear rubs and getting pet on her head, while Dudley likes to turn his bum to you so that you can gently stroke his back. I pet his head occasionally and he would turn his head around and look at me and smile. Once they were satisfied with their cuddles sessions, it was off to the yard again for another outing with their friends!
