Percy started his morning with some TLC time in the grooming room. After he got all cleaned up, he joined me and the rest of the dogs in the yard for some play time. Percy met another dog who loves toys just as much, if not more than he does, and that was Cascabelle the yellow Lab. I brought out a few toys so that there would be enough to go around, and Percy took full advantage! He found two of the same toy, only one was smaller than the other, and he couldn’t decide which one he liked more. Percy would pick one up, spot the other and have to put the old one down to give the new one a try. Eventually, he still hadn’t made up his mind so he managed to pick up both! I left him to play with his prizes and went to toss the disc toy for Cascabelle, but it only took one throw for Percy to spot us and come racing over to join in. Cascabelle certainly gave Percy a run for his money, but he managed to get ahold of a toy each time, regardless if it was the one I actually threw or one he found nearby. After many rounds of fetch, Percy went for a few runs in and out of the agility tunnel and for a quick play with Red the Bloodhound before heading in for a rest until the next outing.

Issy seemed to be loving the cloudy, not too hot and not too cool weather today. She and Mocha enjoyed a trail walk alongside Red the Bloodhound, which made a perfect match since they all like to stop and sniff as they go. Later on during group time, the girls were happy to see Red and their daycare friend Hobart in the yard with them. Issy wandered out into the yard to sniff and watch the other dogs, while Mocha hung back and sat down at the doorstep beside Hobart, who also likes to relax and do his own thing. Meanwhile, Issy was in the far corner of the yard when her grandson Nyxx came flying past, which triggered a case of the zoomies for Issy! It all happened so quickly I didn’t even have time to take a picture. She whipped past me and flew through the gate and stopped next to Mocha and Hobart. I went to see them all and gave Hobart, Mocha and Issy lots of pets and snuck them each a little piece of liver treat.

What great timing for our Beagle friends Coco, Timbits and Bailey to all be in for daycare! Coco and Timbits started their day with a walk alongside fellow small dog, Resa, while Bailey was joined by Merlin and Miko on the trail. After a good stretch, the three Beagles were ready to get out into the yard and have some fun! They each sniffed around and said hello to one another for a few minutes before the games began. Shelby, a very sassy small dog friend, started running circles around the yard at top speed. Coco was full of beans and took off across the yard after Shelby, which of course encouraged Timbits and Bailey to come barreling after. When Coco wants to play, Timbits takes full advantage and has so much fun with her. They switched places as they ran, and Bailey wound up chasing Shelby, while Coco and Timbits wrestled and ran at the same time. Bailey was so thrilled that Shelby had picked up the pace in the yard today and she ran as fast as her legs would carry her with her ears flapping in the wind. Bailey and Shelby, and Coco and Timbits raced around the yard together, paired off but still as a group, for the rest of our time outside!

Pearl and Miko love to see each other every Tuesday, and today was no exception. Miko went flying out the door and immediately tackled Pearl to say the biggest hello possible. Meanwhile, I looked back to where Lola normally sits by the door, and to my surprise she wasn’t there! She had made her way all the way out to the gate by the grass yard, and hopped right over it to go and join the other dogs. Lola watched as Pearl and Miko wrestled around, and then came to join me by the picnic table. I scooped her up and Lola sat on my lap as we watched everyone roam or run around the yard. Pearl played with Miko for a little while, but eventually decided it was time to follow her nose around the fence in the longer grass. She’s quite the little explorer! Miko wasn’t ready to stop playing, though and followed little Pearl everywhere she went. I stopped them on their explorations and gave them each a little bit of liver treat, which caught Lola’s eye, and she came trotting over too. It was so nice to see Lola out wandering the yard with Pearl!

Merlin was a busy little guy today! He motored along the trail beside his regular daycare friend Miko, as well as a new pal, Bailey the Beagle. Merlin was happy as a clam when he saw Bailey back out in the yard after walk time. He went and said hello to all of his buddies, including Miko, Lola and Pearl, but eventually made his way over to Bailey. Merlin hopped up on his back legs and gave Bailey a great big hug, which is his signature move! His little bow-tie makes it even more cute, since he looks like a little gentleman. Merlin spent a little bit of time hopping around with Bailey, until he noticed me pull a little treat from my pocket! He came racing over and sat at my feet like such a good boy. He followed me around the yard as I watched the other dogs for a while, so I gave him lots of pets and head scratches as we went. Merlin met back up with Miko and Pearl a little later on and had a nice time hanging out and roaming the grassy area with them until it was time to head in and relax for a little while.

Amber was full of energy and ready to take advantage of the cooler weather this morning. She led the way on our walk, while Iris and Darby took their time to sniff along the trail. Usually Amber waits for Darby and sniffs all the same places as she does, but today Amber marched along with purpose. Mickey and Teddy were excited to meet up with pint-sized siblings Darby, Amber and Iris out in the yard this morning. They were thankful that the heat wave passed and they could explore more comfortably explore the yard! After a couple days away, I was pleasantly surprised to come back and see just how much Amber has come out of her shell during this visit. Although still cautious at times, she has completely warmed up to the staff and is enjoying every moment of her stay with us. It was adorable to watch she and Iris roll over on to their backs in the grass in pure happiness. Usually it's Iris doing all the rolling, but today Amber couldn’t resist a back scratch herself! Meanwhile, Darby the social pup was off exploring the far yard and saying hello to all of her friends. She has all the confidence in the world and is such a cuddly pup like her sister Iris.

Mickey and Teddy are the sweetest pair; Teddy is a confident little guy and although Mickey is slightly more shy, they are both the perfect additions to their groups! They went for a nice walk on the trail alongside their new friend Pearl the pug. These little fellows were pleased to explore the trail with the cooler breeze at their backs. Mickey can sometimes be unsure of new human interactions until he warms up, but he loves the company of his small four-legged friends and had a blast running around the yard with everyone. Teddy enjoyed some head rubs in the yard but was mostly off exploring the yard and saying hello to his best friend Dudley. He enticed Dudley to play and Dudley couldn’t refuse the offer to wrestle with this silly boy! Meanwhile, Mickey found a friend in Shelby and his little bum wiggled as they nuzzled noses!

Dudley and Abby have their routine down pat now. They have been boarding with us for some time and are thoroughly enjoying this visit, and especially with all of the extra attention they get from our staff members! After a beautiful morning trail walk to stretch out their tiny legs, they were ready to meet up with all of their friends outside. It definitely was a small-small dog group today with all of our pint-sized guests, but they made the perfect group and Abby and Dudley were pleased to be in such good calm energy. Abby, the confident little one of the pair was long gone out exploring the grassy yard, but Dudley stayed back with me and enjoyed a few head scratches. Little Teddy was able to bring out the silly side of Dudley with a few nudges to his back to entice him to play and Dudley loved the attention. Soon enough Abby made her way back for her usual laps of the yard and encouraged me to rub her belly for the rest of the morning! Later in the day after going outside for their afternoon group time, Abby and Dudley joined me for some extra special snuggle time in the big comfy chair. Abby is such a little monkey and climbed up next to me with ease, while Dudley needed a little bit of help to join us. After plenty of back scratches, I offered each of my little pals a treat. Dudley ate his right away, while Abby carried hers around, looking for the perfect spot to stash it. Eventually she decided that the reception desk was the place to leave it, but Dudley had been keeping an eye on her and went to gobble it up! They're such a funny pair.

Tuesdays mean daycare pals Boris and Tasha are in for their regular daycare and ready as ever to meet up with their usual pack consisting of Husky sisters Isis and Sky and staff girls Charly and Merida. You can always expect an entertaining time from these two rascals and sure enough today they did not disappoint. After a few moments to explore the yard, everyone was anxiously waiting for Boris to start his sprint across the yard so they could chase him. I could see the clever look on his face and knew he was ready to take-off and sure enough he started leaping as fast as he could across the yard. It wasn’t long before Isis and Charly were hot on his trail. Tasha managed to stop him dead in his tracks and all the ladies of the group excitedly piled on top of him for a group wrestle, what a luck boy!

Max and Sadie are having a wonderful visit with us, as they always do! They love spending nights with us because that means they get extra attention from first thing in the morning all the way to bedtime! Eager as ever to start their morning off with a trail walk, they excitedly headed out of their kennel for a big trot along the trail after finishing up breakfast. Next they were ready for their usual play session out in the yard. Full of beans as ever, they had a blast running around and wrestling together in usual fashion. Lots of leaps over the agility jump for Max and a good game of King of the castle on Sadie’s favorite picnic table. And as always, they are the best models, constantly posing and giving me great big smiles for the camera!
