Allie was her typical chatty self this morning. She was hanging out on the cat tree while her friends Linus and Remi chased me around the room hoping for some breakfast. Allie helped me clean the cat suites, inspecting them all, making sure I didn’t miss any stray food. Her bed was getting a little dirty so I tossed it in the washing machine and gave her one of ours. She was happy to curl up in the bed while waiting for her breakfast. After breakfast all 3 cats came back out to explore the room and Allie claimed her spot in the hammock. Later in the day I went back to see Allie again, and she purred and stretched her paws out towards me. I picked her up and we had a little snuggle before I let her back down. She flew up the cat tree in the corner of the room as fast as she could and perched herself on a high shelf so she could peek out the window at the goings on in the hallway.
Kai wiggled her way up to reception and plunked herself down
in front of the chair I was sitting in. She had a much need nap, and received
some ear rubs and bum scratches while she relaxed. Despite being so comfy
having a snooze, she couldn’t resist hopping up from her spot when Nicki went
near the treat jar. Kai sat nicely for a cookie, munched and crunched on it,
and then came back for a few more cuddles and another little rest before
heading back to her kennel. If it was up to Kai she would spend her entire day
up front.
Finnigan welcomed a new staff member on the walking trail
this morning! Seeing as he’s such a good boy, Amy had her introductory walk
with Finn and another dog friend, which was a lovely way to start the day.
Later on during group time, Finn joined me out in the yard, alongside his best
pal Charly. I found this rambunctious pair a few toys to choose from, and of course
they played with them all. Finn and Charly went back and forth, taking turns
playing with the rubber bone toy, the rope, and a nylabone. Finn’s favourite
was definitely the rope toy, and he played a few games of tug with both Charly
and I. In between games with his toys, Finnigan raced back and forth across the
yard with Charly, Blue the lab, and Justice the husky. He had so many bursts of
energy, I could barely keep track of where he was in the yard! Finnigan picked
up his bone toy once again and brought it over to the one puddle left in the
yard, where he dropped it in the water with a splash. He spent a minute pawing around
trying to find it, then soaked his beard when he picked it back up! He sure
loves to get messy.
Kai is the most easy going girl and spent her time today
going back and forth between a few different activities. She was feeling cuddly
when we first went outside after her walk this morning, and huddled up next to
me for some pets and back scratches. I gave her plenty, kneeling down to be
closer to her. We watched as the other dogs played with their toys and ran back
and forth across the yard. Kai noticed Magic the husky running around and
couldn’t help but jump into the chase as they zipped past! She ran with the
bunch for a couple of laps before going to check out the agility tunnel. I
turned around for a minute and when I looked back, Kai had vanished! I peeked
into the end of the tunnel and she had made herself comfortable right in the
middle. She only stayed there a minute, though when she heard the other dogs
running past again. Kai emerged from the tunnel to check on all the commotion.
After having a look around, Kai went over to sniff the agility jump, so I
hopped over the bar to encourage her to do the same. Kai followed and leapt
over the jump a few times in a row! She was certainly making good use of the
agility equipment today!
Teddie and Kizmet are always up for a leisurely stroll
around the front field, and today they were joined by their good friend Sophie.
These three all like to take it slow and steady, stopping to sniff everywhere
they go. The three musketeers made a great bunch to start the day. Later on in
the morning, Teddie and Kizmet went out into the yard for group time with lots
of friendly faces. Kizmet was particularly smitten by a pointer named Tesla. He
followed her around the yard, asking her to play very politely. Meanwhile,
Teddie and one of his buddies were interested in a sound on the other side of
the fence in the parking lot. They stood there for a while trying to peek
through and figure out who was there. I called Teddie back to join us in the
grassy part of the yard, and he was happy to go and sniff around for a while.
Kizmet parted ways with Tesla to go and say hello to some other dogs and watch
as they roamed the yard themselves. Teddie stopped next to me for some pets and
cuddles, and of course it wasn’t long before Kizmet came to join us too. These
two are just the sweetest pair.
Sophie W. was full of beans in the yard today! She could
hardly stand still for longer than a minute before she was off gallivanting
around once again. Sophie said hellos to lots of different friends, including
Nyxx the husky and, believe it or not, two more Sophies. Every time I called
Sophie over to me, two other girls came running too! I went and got a toy and
Sophie was beyond excited, barking and bouncing in front of me, waiting for the
throw. She flew around the yard and picked up the toy without stopping even for
a second! She flew around so quickly that the other dogs started to pick up on
her vibe and run with her. After a while, Sophie left her toy behind and went
over to the agility jump, where she leapt over flawlessly. She came and stood
next to me with a big grin on her face after completing her jump. Sophie then joined
Teddie by the fence to have a look and a listen at someone that they could hear
in the parking lot. I came and gave Sophie some back scratches while she peered
out through the fence. Sophie was so full of happy energy today that she went outside with a second play group! She was happy to meet a new friend, Red the bloodhound, as well as a few others. She's such a sociable girl.
Taylor had a great start to
her morning by heading out for a trail walk with little Resa and Beauty. Then she met up with
Bailey the Beagle who was in for daycare. The two of them were inseparable most
of the morning, and had a blast running around and wrestling in the grass. Even
though Taylor is much bigger than Bailey, she played very gently knowing Bailey
was just a pup. It was Bailey who was jumping up on Taylor being super silly,
Taylor loved all the attention she was getting from this little one. Bailey is
just the sweetest little pup; she is joining us for her first day of daycare
today and she couldn’t be happier. She was thrilled to join fellow beagles Coco
and Timbits for a trot along the trail, so many new scents to explore with that
strong little nose of hers. It was adorable to watch the three Beagle bums
wiggling and wagging along the trail in front of me. When it was time for their
outdoor playgroup, the three of them were back at it again and ready for a
Beagle wrestle! At first Coco was off exploring the yard in usual fashion, but
when she heard her brother Timbits playing with his new friend, she couldn’t
resist but run over and join in. I knew right away that Bailey and Timbits
would hit if off, they have similar playful personalities and sure enough they
became best pals! Taylor is such a happy, wiggly girl. I don’t think her bum
stopped wiggling the entire time she was with me for her extra attention. She loved playing with a couple of the toys from the bin, but was definitely in the mood for some love, so we spent most of our time cuddling.
She showed off how good she is at sitting and laying down. After I asked her to
lay down she quickly rolled over for a belly rub. For the remainder of our time
together we went for a stroll outside. Taylor loved pouncing through the grass
nibbling on a blade of grass every now and again. She led the way around the
field, following her nose, taking in all the fresh smells of the day.
Annie and Zen are another pair of new faces
in for daycare today and they are beautiful and magnificent dogs! To make them
feel at home, they headed out for a trail walk with Kinsey shortly after
arrival; they were pleased to scope out their surroundings and loved stretching
out their long legs down the path. They are also very obedient dogs and great
to go in and out of their kennel even though it was a new place for them. For
their first outing, they met up with Charly the Golden and were quite
entertained by all of her silly antics out in the yard. They happily wandered over
to her and said hello and were happy to meet a new face. The rest of their
morning was spent exploring out the yard and sniffing out the scents from the
previous groups. But they always carried great big smiles on their faces and
were happy to be outside together. They were very curious of me and the camera,
but they are definitely starting to warm up. I think they are going to be great
additions to our daycare guests and they did just an amazing job fitting in on their
first day!
