Gracie was definitely in a rainy day mood today. She was much more interested in cuddling than training. Alyssa spent some time with Gracie going over her basics, although Gracie just wanted to give her paw and roll over. Silly girl, of course got what she wanted and had several yummy liver treats to munch on. After her training she joined her group outside for some fun, once back inside she joined me upfront for some extra cuddle time. I gave her a few more treats in the treat puzzle that she nosed and pawed at to get them all out. She then joined me on the comfy chair to head scratched and chin rubs.

Chigo had some stiff competition for the ball today; he had fetch-loving Sophie and Victory to contend with. All three of them were nuts over the orange chuck-it ball and they weren’t going to let the rain ruin their game! Chigo is such a handsome and patient boy, once he spotted the orange ball in my hand, he ran over and obediently sat his bum on the ground until I threw it. Meanwhile, silly Sophie who seems to have endless amounts of energy was jumping all over the place behind him, she couldn’t wait for me to throw it. Once the ball left my hands, Chigo leaped from his seat and caught some good air; he was always the first to the ball. At that point Sophie had already forgotten about the game and she was off rolling around in the grass in usual Sophie fashion! Victory was able to get her paws on the ball a few times as well, but Bentley the Golden kept her busy most of the morning. Bentley, who is a few years her senior loved her fun-loving energy and wanted to play and wrestle all morning long and Victory adored the attention. When the rain really started to come down towards the end of their outing, Chigo, Sophie and Victory and the rest of their friends followed me over to the gravel yard for cover. Sophie graced us in song as we waited for the rain to let up, while Chigo and Victory showed me a few tricks and showed me their “paws”! Cai was very excited to meet Chigo out in the yard this morning, both handsome and strong independent Shepherd’s, it was adorable to watch them interact in the yard! Cai had his signature tongue out and was happy to be in such good company and couldn’t be bothered by the rain. He was excited to meet Maggie the black lab and the two of them wandered and explored the yard together. He did make sure however to make his way over to my side at one point, he knows exactly where to go for the cuddles!

Boy oh boy was Victory ever excited for her extra attention time this afternoon. Since it was raining quite heavily all day, I decided to simply bring her to the front reception for some play time instead of journeying over to the creek. Victory was full of love and kisses when she got up to the front. She greeted everyone that she passed and was quite happy to see everyone up there waiting to play with her. Victory and Nicki started playing with the funniest little toy that made it look like Victory had a huge red smile. She loved the toy because it squeaked but we were more focused on how funny it looked when she held it correctly. Next up were cuddles. Victory hopped her front paws up onto my lap and politely waited for a head and neck rub. After a little while, she bounced off and was ready to play once more. Leah got Victory do preform a couple tricks as well as play a little game of tug-of-war.

Max and Sadie weren’t too thrilled about the rain today, Sadie barely wanted to leave the edge of the building to avoid getting her paws wet! Max didn’t like getting all soggy either, but no way he was going to hide out all morning, so he followed me out into the grassy yard. With much hesitation, Sadie finally made her way out as well and the two of them met up at their favorite meeting spot, the picnic table of course! Stoic as ever, the two of them posed for a million pictures as they started off into the distance like professional models! Such a silly pair these two are, but always make the best company and never fail to give me a good laugh. We made our way back for cover and they both took turns nuzzling up to my side for pets. Boy were they thankful for their warm fluffy beds and Max lounged out like a King the moment get got back inside!

Issy was very fond of our new husky rescue, Cross. She found him right off the bat in the yard and began circling him. Mocha noticed all the attention Issy was giving him, and had to check him out for herself. The girls circled around him with very eager noses. After getting to know him, Mocha wandered off, seeking protection from the rain. Issy continued to hang around with him, following him around and flirting occasionally. The girls were brave enough to wander around together in the rain. After some brief sniffing and exploring they returned to the dry outdoor kennel where they hung out until it was time for their indoor group time.

Jemma enjoyed her morning walk with Wally and Finnegan. She loves wandering along the trail and through the long grass. In the yard, it took Jemma a little bit to settle in since it was raining so hard. When the rain eased up, she came out of her shell and began dancing around. Jemma was very curious of the new pallets in the yard. She spent a lot of time sniffing them and climbing about on them. When I offered her a toy, she was keen to partake in some fetch. She darted all over the yard after the toy, until she found one she wanted to gnaw on. After some good chewing, Jemma returned to my side for some pets and cuddles before heading in for some indoor, dry, play time.

Tsavo loves her morning walk, regardless of the weather. She was so keen to get out the door with two of her friends and began exploring the trail. Tsavo spent her whole walk weaving in and out of the long grass, sniffing and exploring everything beneath her paws. Tsavo met up with Cross in the yard today, our new husky rescue. She was intrigued by him from the moment she stepped foot outside. Tsavo followed Cross around with a wagging tail, eager to play and run. Cross wasn’t too interested in running around, however, he did offer her a couple play bows and they briefly danced. Tsavo was also keen to wander off on her own and do some exploring of the yards. She was so excited to have access to all four yards today.

The rain didn’t put a damper on Percy’s time with us today. He was so excited to run out the door and begin exploring the yards. He was thrilled to have access to all four yards. He spent the first portion of his group time with his nose to the ground, sniffing and exploring. Finally he found cross, who got him playing. This duo loved dancing around and pawing at one another. After some fun, Percy left Cross to do some more exploring. Along the way he came across a Frisbee which was very eager to play with. He brought it to my feet, asking for it to be thrown. After a tug battle, I got a hold of it and launched it for him. He dashed after it full speed, and then continued to race around with it in his mouth, rather than returning it to me for another throw.

Spencer was full of beans from the moment he arrived this morning. He kept me very busy on our walk, walking as fast as possible, darting in and out of the long grass. I finally caught up to him and we finished the walk side by side. In the yard Spencer was very attracted to Cross. He tried so hard to get him to play, and finally succeeded. The pair had fun with Percy and Tsavo, dancing and dashing around together. Spencer also enjoyed some one on one time with Cross, where they alternated pawing at each other and bouncing all over one another. Towards the end of Specner’s outdoor time he enjoyed some time by my side getting patted. He also did a lot of sniffing and exploring before heading indoors for some dry playroom time.

Kimi was very bouncy when I walked down the hall with leashes in hand. She knew what time it was and she was more than ready. After politely asking her to sit and be patient, I hooked heru p and we head out. Kimi enjoyed walking along the trail with two friends. Rather than adventuring into the field she stuck ahead of me on the path, taking the roll of the walk leader very seriously. In the yard today Kimi wasn’t too keen on the rain. It took her some time to come out from the protected area to check in on the other dogs. She said hello to all her daycare friends and then settled in with Cross, our husky rescue. After some sniffing and flirting, Kimi made a quick move at Cross. They briefly played around before Kimi took off on her own to sniff and explore.

Teddy was extra excited to be outdoors today. The rain didn’t put a damper on his time with us, what so ever. He was in a group with all boarding dogs, which kept him extra busy. He spent a lot of time saying hello and getting to know every one. Once he finally settled in he chose Max as his best buddy. He raced after Max for a long time until he was distracted by Gracie. Teddy then set off with Gracie looping around the yard, sniffing and exploring. It wasn’t long before Teddy’s fast running had all the huskies going. Teddy had Vega, Magic and Justice hot on his heels as he looped around the yard. After lots of fast laps between all the yards he finally settled down and hung out by my side for some pets and cuddles before returning indoors.

Despite the rain, we got Coco out the door for a walk. She is a bit of a princess when it comes to getting her paws wet, but she makes the best of the situations. She really enjoyed her walk with Timbits, as usual. In the yard, after some convincing, she made her way into the grass area to hang out with me. She loved getting pets and cuddles while everyone else was busy. Timbits on the other hand, is not bothered one bit by the rain. He has made such a good friend in the new staff puppy, Barb. Timbits is impressively patient with this little lady. She follows him around, sucks on his ears, gnaws on his neck, and paws at his side all while he stands there simply enjoying the attention. Timbits and Barb had a lot of fun dashing around the yard. Timbits can run a lot faster than her, so he tends to run laps around her. Wally got involved too, and Timbits really enjoyed the play time they had together. Timbits has become a lovely older brother for Barb, it is nice to see him so calm.

Despite the rain, I got Rocky out into the yard today for some adventuring and exploring. I don’t think he was too happy with me with I picked him up, but he settled into my arms after a bit. After some good cuddles I placed him down in the grass yard. He seemed shocked to be so far from the door. It took five seconds for Maya to notice where he was, and come barreling into the grass yard. She got so playful with the other dogs when she was in the grass yard. She loved dancing around with Barb, and even got goofing around with Wally. Meanwhile, Rocky was sniffing and exploring the grass. He slowly made his way back to the door, which got Maya’s attention and she left her  friends. The pair then enjoyed relaxing in the somewhat protected portion of the yard, steering clear from the rain.
