Jack and Maggie enjoyed a walk on the trail with their pal Coco the beagle on this lovely summer morning. It wasn’t too hot or too cool, which made for the perfect strolling weather. After their walk time, Jack and Maggie stretched out in their comfy beds until we headed out into the yard for morning group time. When I came to get them, both Jack and Maggie were stretched out in the same bed, looking as comfy as can be! They got up slowly and stretched their legs before sauntering out the door. They both spent lots of time sniffing around and exploring the yard for the first little while. Jack met a little friend along his way, a very teeny tiny little guy named Mickey. Mickey’s best friend Teddy came racing over to say hello too, and the pair bounced off to play together. Jack watched them as they shuffled around the yard, and proceeded on his way out to the grassy part of the yard. Meanwhile, Maggie was saying hello to Iris the Chihuahua and asking for some pets from me. I happily obliged and scratched her on the chin and rubbed her back. Jack made his way out to the agility tunnel and hopped through to the other side. Maggie was intrigued by what he could be doing in there and went over to have a look too. They both went in and out of the tunnel together and separately a few times. After group time, Jack and Maggie joined Katie for some one-on-one time in the reception area for their extra attention session. Jack and I sat together and watched as Katie and Maggie played with her favourite pink dragon stuffy.

Nymeria was as eager as ever to stretch her legs on the trail this morning. It was still a bit cloudy and breezy out, which made the perfect walking weather before the hot sun started shining. Later during group time, Nymeria was the first to hop into the kiddie pool as it was filling up. She didn’t realize there was actually water in the pool though and hopped back out as quickly as she hopped in. Nymeria watched as Zadie climbed right into the water and splashed around. Nym approached slowly, considering wetting her feet again, but decided against it when Oates came running over to say hello. Nymeria instantly wanted to play, but Oates was being all silly and shy, rolling on her back and pawing up at her. Nym let her be for a while and went to say hello to Annie, Zen and Red. She eventually met back up with Oates, who was then ready for a little play session. It was pretty warm out so the girls didn’t play for too long, but were happy to get their sillies out at least. Later in the afternoon, Nymeria and I went out to the front field to do some recall work. I hooked Nym up to the long line and let her go and sniff around. When she was good and distracted I called her back over to me, and she came flying through the long grass! We did this a few times and she only needed a few reminders here and there. Alyssa then brought Justice outside for some leash manner training. Nym was so excited to see him so it was a great opportunity to work on not jumping and staying sitting down. Each time that Nymeria approached Justice without jumping up she got a little section of liver treat as a reward. She did a great job! When we were all done training, we went inside for Nymeria's extra attention time with Alyssa. She was happy to lay down on the cool tile floor and have a little fun with some toys!

Annie and Zen met a new buddy on their walk this morning, Red the Bloodhound. He’s very chatty on the trail, which kept the girls entertained as they marched along. They met up with Red again later on in the morning for their first group outing of the day. Annie and Zen went for a stroll around the yard and gazed out into the field, feeling the breeze in their hair. Zen went and said hello to Merida and Zadie, who she seemed to like quite a lot. Suddenly, Riley went sprinting past and Zen couldn’t help but jog along after her. Annie watched as Zen went along for the run, but quickly went back to sniffing around and saying hello to the other dogs. I ran around the yard and offered the girls some toys, but they were most content mingling with the others and following their noses on this warm Monday.

Max and Sadie were certainly full of the wiggles today! We practiced being nice, calm and patient on our way outside. Max wiggled his way out of the kennel before Sadie, but I asked him to go back and wait until it was his turn to go. Sadie laid down on her bed and locked her gaze on me, and Max sat perfectly still like a statue with his head tilted back and his eyes wide with anticipation. I allowed Sadie to leave the kennel first, while Max had to sit an extra minute. He was such a patient boy! Next, I had them sit at the door to outside and wait until I told them they could go out into the yard. They were very focused and stayed put even after I’d opened the door and gone out into the yard myself. Once I said okay, both Max and Sadie went flying out into the yard for their play time. Sadie did a lap before settling down on the gravel to sunbathe. Max was ready to play right from the start and ran around until Sadie was up and ready to join him. The pair ran around and wrestled together in the tunnel, which was very funny to watch from the outside. Sadie ran out of the tunnel and into the empty pool, where Max tackled her and the wrestle started once again. After they had a good play, Max went and jumped over the agility jump a few times, showing off to Sadie, who wasn’t so sure she wanted to give it a try yet. I got a treat and encouraged her to jump, but Sadie decided that she was a better spectator than acrobat. This afternoon we brought the lovely miss Isis out with Max and Sadie. We let Max see Isis through the fence before bringing her into the yard. They were both so excited to spend some time with an old friend. Max encouraged Isis to play with him and she trotted around the yard with him before settling down to sniff some grass. Max and Sadie joined her as she explored through the long grass.

Vasco was very pleased when I approached his kennel door this morning to head outside with all of his favorite friends. He zoomed out the door and literally leaped into the agility yard in excitement. First things first, he had to get a few rolls in before playing with his friends, so in true Labrador nature he buried his head to the ground and lifted his bum up in the air as he stared to roll around on the ground! Now that he had reached his roll quota, he was ready to explore the yard and see what the rest of the gang was up too. He spotted good pal and fellow Labrador Cascabelle and ran over to say hello and see if he could entice her to a wrestle. The two of them had a friendly standoff before Cascabelle excitedly ran away and Vasco followed suit! For the rest of the morning he was smiling from ear to ear and happy to be in such good company on this sunny day. Vasco was delighted to see a leash in my hand when I came to get him for extra attention time this afternoon. I let him lead the way through the field and he took me down to the creek and jumped right in! He walked back and forth in the water, keeping cool on this hot and humid afternoon. Next, we continued down the trail where we stopped at the bridge to take a couple photos. He then led me around the walking trail, where he stopped to sniff and explore all he wanted! We ended our time together by relaxing in the cool reception area.

One of our favorite daycare pals Finnigan was back in for a day of fun and today he joined one of the small dog groups and met up with some of his favorite pint sized friends for a good play! He was pleased to see our regular Beagle friends Coco and Timbits and new friend Bailey. Bailey and Timbits followed Finnigan out into the far grassy yard and put their little noses to work to see which toys they could find and play with. Meanwhile Coco decided to stay back and lounge out in the sun with Shelby and Resa since it was such a warm and sunny morning. Finnigan spotted one of the Frisbees and Bailey found one of the stuffed animals and they were both pleased with their finds. However, they were soon to be interrupted by daycare pal DJ who is known for his speedy chases around the yard. In came DJ with sister Tinkerbell right behind him out the door and they quickly made their way out into the far yard to join the others. Tim, Finn and Bailey stopped what they were doing to see what the commotion was about and excitedly saw Tink and DJ whip by them. Now the chase was really on, surprisingly both Finn and Bailey left their toys and decided to join in on the grand chase around the yard. Even Coco who was out sunbathing in the front yard couldn’t resist a good chase and left her comfy spot to join her brother and friends. Pups were flying all over the place in excitement with DJ always in the lead, he sure does know how to get the party started! Finally Tinkerbell grew tired of the chase and took cover on top of the rock so she wouldn’t get in the way and she enjoyed a few head scratches there. Even Coco and Tim needed to stop to catch a breath, but Finn and Bailey were relentless and spent the rest of their morning DJ and there was no way DJ was going to stop anytime soon!
