Mickey and Teddy were so excited to go outside this morning! Mickey trotted around the yard checking everything out while Teddy hung out with his little Shih Tzu friend Darby. Mickey is always so curious, sniffing around and under every fence, but he never goes to far and is always eager to run back over when he's called. The two of them had a nice time on their walk as the sun finally came out. They were jumping in and out of the grass and smelling all the flowers; so cute! They're getting more and more comfortable everyday and they're having lots of fun being a part of the pack during play time. They were looking for lots of cuddles today and Teddy gave us the sweetest little kisses!

Jack and Maggie settled in quickly today, and had quite an appetite this morning--chomping down breakfast and then heading out for some playtime with the group. They were a little hesitant at first but got comfortable in no time. In the afternoon Jack was ready for some cuddles and rolled over in the grass looking for a belly rub. Every time I finished scratching his belly he would roll over asking for so more. Maggie came over and joined us looking for a scratch behind the ears too. After that relaxing moment in the grass they went to hang out with all the other doggies. A butterfly ended up landing right in the middle of everyone and Jack and Maggie were super curious about it. They ended up following it cautiously though the yard as it fluttered around, and then eventually let it fly away; it was such a sweet moment!

Vasco had another lovely day with us. He was so excited for his walk this morning that he was bouncing up and down in his kennel when I came to get him. We joined his friends Dragon and Gryphon, and then made our way to the trail with Vasco in the lead. While the other two were content to take their time, Vasco was on a mission and hardly slowed down the whole walk! He occasionally paused to sniff some grass, but right away he would jump ahead and continue trucking along. Vasco was still full of energy when it was time for groups later. He raced the other dogs out the door and immediately got to work exploring the yard. Vasco’s look-alikes, Zadie and Oates, decided to keep him company while they were sniffing around. The three of them must have covered the entire yard about three times; with the way their noses were going. After enjoying about half of their group in decent weather, it suddenly started pouring rain. The dogs made a beeline for the outdoor kennels where there was some shelter. Vasco hardly seemed to mind the downpour and kept trotting around with a big smile! What a silly guy. Eventually he joined everyone else in the outdoor kennels, and had a few cuddles with me before it was time to head inside.
Vasco was super happy to head up front with me for his extra attention. Right away he planted himself by the treat jar and waited patiently for me to take the hint. After he showed me that he knew how to sit, Vasco was chomping down a couple treats. We then went over to check out the toy bin. He was excited to see each toy although he couldn't settle on one that he wanted to play with. Instead, he decided to enjoy some cuddles - and a back scratch, his favourite! - before he headed back to his kennel.

Nymeria was ready and waiting to get the day started as soon as I put her leash on for walks this morning. She happily said hello to her pals Riley and Tatoo, and then bounced out the door. While we were walking, Nymeria didn’t quite seem to grasp the concept of the trail as she was just zigzagging all over the place! The other two were peacefully trotting along, dodging Nymeria whenever she zoomed past them. She was working hard to sniff everything. When we got back, Nymeria was warm and tired so she had a big drink and then settled down for a nap in the cool indoors. She was soon on her feet again, though, as it was time for groups. Nymeria makes a great playmate for our rescues Moka and Lotus. After saying hello to the rest of the dogs, Nym headed over to see what her friends were doing. Right away Lotus started leaping around with her feet going in every direction. She was so excited and wasn’t quite sure what to do! Nymeria was patient and happily pretended to chomp on Lotus’ nose. Then the girls wandered over to explore near the fence for a while. I offered Nymeria a few toys, though she politely sniffed them and then continued on her way, obviously having better things to do! It didn’t take long before Moka intercepted Nym, as she playfully pounced on her back. The two of them continued to dance around and even got Justice involved in the funny game for a bit.

Nymeria knew exactly what time it was when I came to get her for extra attention. She bounced up to the front, clearly having done this before. Nym leaped onto the chair without hesitation and posed for some pictures. Then, she started poking around the toy bin. I picked out a snake stuffy and squeaked it for her. Right away Nymeria's ears were alert and her head tilted a bit. She gave the stuffy a shake before ignoring it in favour of an orange rubber toy. Then Nymeria enjoyed some small treats as a reward for showing me some of her tricks.

Max and Sadie were very eager for their walk this morning and practically buzzed with energy, although both of them remembered their manners when I asked them to sit at the door before we headed out. Once we reached the trail, the two of them went darting off in opposite directions. They must have a plan worked out, as both of them were trotting all over the place while they sniffed, but they never bumped into each other! After that, it was time for groups. Max leaped to his feet and raced out the door without hesitation, while Sadie on the other hand took time to stretch each of her legs before slowing wandering outside. She brought out a squeaky toy with her and was happy to play fetch with me for a bit. While Max was busy exploring the yard and making sure everything was as it should be, he did take some time to watch Sadie running around. I could see that he was thinking about joining in…although he eventually he decided he would much rather enjoy some peace and quiet. The two of them had gotten lucky and just dodged the torrential downpour that had been happening only a few minutes before they headed outside. Max headed over to the picnic table, which was full of rainwater, and took a drink before climbing up to observe the yard. Sadie had forgotten about the toy and was busy exploring the empty kiddy pool. Max posed for a few pictures and enjoyed a scratch behind the ears, until Sadie got jealous and came racing over. She jumped up on the rock beside the picnic table and gave me a look. Once both of them were satisfied with their snuggles, we grabbed Sadie’s toy and headed inside again.
