Barney wagged his tail and hopped up and down in excitement
when I walked up to his kennel with a leash and his harness in hand. He and his
other Beagle mix friend Grace marched around the trail together, following
their equally curious noses down the path and taking in all of the interesting
scents. During our group outings later in the day, Barney was greeted by Grace
as well as a few new faces who came in for daycare today. Barney wagged his
tail while greeting Miko the Shih Tzu and Merlin the Schnoodle, and watched as
they roamed around the yard. I went over towards the picnic table and Barney
followed close by my side until he reached a little hole that some of the other
dogs had dug. He circled the hole a few times and tried his best to fit inside
it, but it was just too small! He wound up getting comfy on the grass next to
the hole, which seemed to be the next best option. He spent most of his group
outings lounging in the sunshine and watching the other dogs as they roamed. Barney and I went out to the lounge building to have some one-on-one time together this afternoon in between his group outings. Although he spent some time relaxing with me on the comfy couch, Barney's favourite part of his extra attention time was when I gave him a Kong bone with a treat in the end! He spent most of his time pawing and chewing at the toy until he reached the treat!
Miko and Merlin joined forces for another day at daycare
today. They walked side by side at a good quick pace, stopping here and there
to roll in the grass and to have a sniff at an interesting scent. It was a
lovely day to spend outside, and Merlin had a grand time with his nose buried
in the grass in the yard, while Miko came to lounge with me on the picnic table
in the sun. Once they had both spent some time doing their own things, Miko and
Merlin met up to have some fun together! The boys looked at one another and
were instantly on the same page when it came to a wrestling match. Merlin took
his signature pose with his arms up like he wanted to give Miko a hug, and Miko
responded by hopping up on his back legs too! They spent some time wrestling
and running around before taking a break to cool off and relax some more.
Max was the first one in the bath for their spa day today,
so Sadie and I went for a walk with her good friend Isis the Husky to start the
day. Once Max was finished, Sadie was up and ready for her groom, while her
brother and I went out into the yard to have some one-on-one fun! Max loves
having the big extra yard to play in, and ran like a gazelle around the fence
and through the gate again. I called him over and we did a little bit of sit
and stay practice, and he did a fantastic job being patient. Next, I let him
have some more fun and he did a few more laps of the yard at a full sprint. I
called him back over to me and got him relaxed before doing sit, stay and down
practice, followed by more fun time. He hopped up into the play structure, and
stood with his nose towards the sky, taking in the lovely weather. After Sadie
was finished with her haircut, she and I went for a special one-on-one walk in
the field together.
Boris and Tasha were thrilled to join
fellow Husky friend Sky for their morning trail walk. Shortly after arrival,
they knew it was time to head out for their trot and patiently waited until we
approached their kennel with leashes in hand, then the excitement really began!
It was a beautiful morning for a walk and they enjoyed chasing one another down
the path. It was a great day for Boris and Tasha to be reunited with usual
daycare friends Charly the Golden and Percy the Aussie. While Boris and Tasha
took their time to make their usual rounds of the yard, Percy was busy playing
fetch with the blue ring with Charly. The two of them chased one another
through the agility tunnel and out after the blue ring. Percy was literally
leaping off his hind legs after the ring and of course had his infamous sloppy
tongue hanging out the side of his mouth in excitement! Boris was now ready to
play and quickly interrupted Percy and Charly’s game of fetch to entice them to
chase after him. Just like that and the pack of them were off, Boris in the
lead with Percy and Tasha not far behind. This is Tasha’s favorite part of the
day where she can chase after her silly son and he definitely knows how to
bring out the playful side in her and bring such a fun energy to his group! Percy
was running full speed after Boris and really enjoyed his time surrounded by
all of his favorite silly friends. I think this group were in dire need of a
nap before they headed back out to do it all over again!
