Cody's first full day couldn't have gone better! He immediately took a liking to Grace, his walking partner for this morning, and the two of them quickly had their leashes tangled with the way they were bouncing around. Occasionally Cody would break away to check out the trail, which was full of interesting smells for him to explore. For the most part he was happy to just play with Grace. I knew he would be having a blast during groups, and sure enough Cody wasted no time getting the games started once he entered the yard. He said hello to Grace but then moved along to meet some new friends. After he had given most of the yard a good sniff and greeted the rest of the dogs, Cody set out to find himself a playmate. Our husky puppies seemed to be perfect for this. He had so much fun wrestling with all of them, and even tried to steal their toys a few times, although this didn't work out so well since he would quickly be tackled by all four of them. His favourite of the bunch seemed to be Cricket, who was more than happy to run around with Cody and their friend Duke. Eventually she had burrowed under the picnic table with her brother, while Cody raced around it and poked his head inside, trying to figure out the best way in. For most of group time, he went back and forth between the puppies and then had another wrestling match with Grace. He was also delighted when I headed over to give him some cuddles. After a back rub, Cody was right back to playing, this time racing around with Firefly.
Merlin had another wonderful day. He started the morning off on a walk with his friend Duke. Both of the boys were very eager to get outside and could hardly wait for me to open the door! They hurried to the trail and set out to sniff around the grass. It was a relaxing walk for everybody, as the two of them were content to just wander along. Next up, it was time for their group. Merlin trotted out the door and paused to sniff the air before heading off towards the fence. He was checking things out in the far yard when Remus ambled over to say hello. Not long after that, two of the husky puppies bounced over to see what Merlin was up to. He wasn't quite sure what to think about the little balls of fluff, so he waited until they were distracted and then wandered towards the picnic table. After poking around with his nose, Merlin hopped up onto the table and surveyed the yard. Most of the dogs were off doing their own thing. He happily greeted me when I came over to see him, and definitely wanted some cuddles! Then Merlin headed towards the shade where some of the other dogs were lounging around. His friend Grace immediately hopped up to him, encouraging him to chase her. He politely declined her offer, deciding that he would much rather spend his time enjoying the breeze and exploring in the grass. After he stopped by for a back scratch from me, Merlin trotted off to continue his adventure around the yard.
Merlin was super excited for his extra attention today. He raced up front and darted around the room to check everything out. It didn't take long before Merlin had sniffed out the treats and eagerly sat down so I would see that he definitely deserved a couple. After enjoying his reward, I found a few toys for him to play with. He wasn't interested until I squeaked one of them, and then Merlin was all over it! We played tug-of-war and whenever he managed to get the toy he would give it a good shake before carrying it back to me. Finally, we had a nice cuddle to wrap things up.
The lovely Nymeria had so much fun hanging out with all her buddies today! She started the day with a big walk around the trail, and she enjoyed trotting around and checking out all the different smells in the grass. When we headed outside for group, she was very happy to mingle with all the other dogs and explore the yard a bit more. She was feeling pretty playful today and hopped up onto the picnic table after a game of chase with her friend Maddy. She hung out on the table for a little while, and I gave her a cuddle and a scratch behind the ear. Then she was ready to go again, and hopped down to play a bit of tug of war with Sophie. Even though Sophie won, Nymeria was very nice about it and was happy to share the toy. She is one sweet girl, and loved being able to jump around on everything in the yard and play with all of her pals today!
Millie started the day with a big walk on the trail with her friends Hobart and Goliath. She was being her happy, spunky self and was bouncing all over the place. She and Goliath stuck pretty close, and checked out all the different smells in the grass together. During playtime, Millie was in a very social mood, and went around saying hello to all the other dogs. She also came over and gave me a little kiss on the knee to say hi. She trotted around the yard with her buddy Goliath, and the two of them explored ever nook and cranny. After she’d covered every inch of the yard, Millie decided she wanted to get a better view of everything and hopped up onto the big rock in the corner. Everyone else decided to make their way over and see what she was doing, and she greeted them all from up above as they mingled around below her.
