Mr. Merlin got all settled in with his cozy bed and crate after arriving for his weekend getaway this morning. He was ready to hop out of bed to stretch his legs when I approached with leashes in hand, though! Merlin marched along the trail with his nose down to take in all of the smells on this beautiful day beside his good pals Max and Maggie. After plenty of exploring in the field, Merlin kept right on sniffing during his group outings throughout the day. He watched intently as the other dogs raced around the yard after a particularly favorable toy, but Merlin was much too keen to continue following his nose around the fence and in the grass. He stopped when he reached my side and looked up to find me kneeling down in the grass with open arms! Merlin never misses an opportunity for a good pet and a snuggle, so we did just that. I then led Merlin over to the kiddie pool to see if he’d like to dip his paws in the cool water, but opted to just peer over the edge and wet his moustache. Merlin joined me in the indoor playroom in between his outdoor group times this afternoon. I sat down on the bed and he hopped right up next to me to have a little cuddle time, but that didn't last too long when he saw the toys laying on the floor! I went over and squeaked the little green bone toy and Merlin went crazy! He locked his eyes on the prize and chased it across the room when I tossed it. Merlin was quite happy to continue playing with the squeaky toy for the rest of our one-on-one time.

Bailey always adds such a playful and fast-paced energy to the small dog play group! She met Grace the Beagle mix first thing this morning when the pair went for their trail walk together, and it was clear they would be a great match for the play yard. Bailey flew out the door when the time came for her first group of the day, and she zoned in on a toy as soon as it crossed her path. She picked up the toy and took off running around the yard with it waving around her head as she went, which looked very amusing to the rest of us watching! Grace sprinted over to Bailey and started to play-bow towards her, hoping to instigate a wrestling match or a chase, and she was pleased that Bailey took off running! Bailey, Grace and Ghira the Portuguese water dog spent the rest of their time running, tumbling and splashing in the pool together.

Boris and Tasha had a great day spent with all of their favorite resident Husky pals. Fiery redheaded ladies Vega, Aurora and Kyah joined them today and Magic and Mocha rounded out this large playful Husky group. There was no time to waste today, Boris was immediately on the move and whipping back and forth across the yard with Tasha and the ladies close behind. Boris and Tasha invited all of their friends to an epic pool party and it was hilarious to see how many dogs could squeeze into the pool together. One thing was for sure that Tasha wasn’t going to give up her spot and she had a blast splashing around. When Boris wasn’t spending his time flirting with all the Husky ladies, he was running around and playing with Sophie the Shepherd. Sophie adored both Tasha and Boris and the three of them were fast friends!

Mack joined me for some special one-on-one time out in the yard today. He loved that all of the attention was on him and that he had free range of the yard. It was such a beautiful warm sunny day and Mack put his investigative nose to work as he explored every inch of that yard making sure to stop by the pool to test out the water. He enjoyed his morning trail walk so much this morning with Merida that we decided to go for another trot this afternoon.

Daycare friends April and Finnigan joined forces today for an epic play session out in the yard with some of their favorite friends. They excitedly followed me out into the agility yard and Finn was very pleased to see that the pool was out and filled to the brim for him to enjoy. While Finn submerged himself in the pool, April came over and rubbed her back against my legs to say hello and happily accepted some back scratches. It's been a while since I’ve seen this sweet girl and we were very happy to have her back for the day! To no surprise, April mostly hung out with big-girls Annie and Zen and they were the perfectly sized friends. Annie and Zen really enjoyed her calm and gentle demeanor and together the three of them made laps around the yard. Meanwhile Finn was hosting an epic pool party and friends Belle, Goliath and Sophie joined the fun.
