Annie and Zen were eager to get moving on this hot and sunny Monday morning! They were accompanied by fellow Monday-Wednesday-Friday daycare buddy, Finnigan, who was equally as excited to take advantage of the lovely day. Annie and Zen were happier still for a cool drink of water upon returning to their kennel after their trot on the trail. The girls took part in a big group of different types of dogs today, including some Huskies, a Golden Retriever, a couple of smaller mixed breeds and a Lab puppy. Annie and Zen were content to watch all of the other dogs as they sniffed, played and splashed in the pool, although they did follow their busy noses to all different nooks and crannies around the yard.

After his routine walk with gentle giant sisters Annie and Zen, Finnigan was ready to run around and burn some energy during his playgroups! Finnigan spent some time playing with one of his favourite toys, the hollow pink ball, until I managed to get my hands on it, starting up a game of tug of war! Finnigan is a tough competitor when it comes to tug, and he of course won the round. Next, he went and tossed around a different toy, a green rubber bone shaped toy, until he noticed a little chase happening between Elo, Bailey and Pepper that looked like too much fun to pass up. Finnigan ran until he needed to slow down and cool off, which he did by splashing around in the pool and eventually laying down in the water completely! When Finnigan emerged from the pool, he was soaking wet and full of beans all over again!

Bailey was ready to play from the minute she got here this morning! She brought her Greenie to her kennel and had her little snack before going out to play with some new friends. She was pleased to meet a lovely girl named Scout later in the morning for her walk time. Although she loves the trail, Bailey’s favourite part of the day is certainly play time. I knew that she and Elo the Finnish Lapphund would be a perfect match from the moment they met, and I was correct! Bailey grabbed a toy and ran around the yard with Elo following close behind. They sprinted back and forth from one end of the yard to the other, taking a quick detour to the pool to splash around. She ran into Finnigan, who was also enjoying the pool, and she joined him in an attempt to pick up a Frisbee that was sitting at the bottom. It was quite funny when Bailey plunged her whole face in the water!

It was great to see Pepper’s sweet face when she arrived this morning! After a little bit of coaxing and some head scratches, Pepper was ready to come out into the yard to meet her group, which consisted of plenty of small dog friends, some calm and relaxed, some ready to play. Pepper took a minute to watch everyone and sniff around before she decided whether or not to play. She and I watched Bailey the Beagle, Finnigan the doodle and Elo the Lapphund as they ran around the yard together, until Pepper bolted off to race around with them. She had a great time running and chasing her new friends. Pepper and I went out to the lounge building in between her playgroups this afternoon. She explored around the room and made sure to sniff every inch. Once she finished, Pepper came to spend some time with me on the comfy couch. I offered her a couple of toys, including a stuffed monkey and a ball, but she was in the mood to relax! I know how much this girl loves to be pet, so we simply hung out together while I gave her a good back scratch.

Sam and I had a blast together out in the yard today. She had just come back from her morning trot with Berner brothers Dragon and Gryphon, but saved just enough energy to play an epic game of fetch. Sam is infamous for her wild leaps in the air and today was no different; she loves to play her little heart out every time she steps out in that yard. However, she was especially excited to join me by my side for a few cuddles, she loved that all the attention was on her today! Sam knew exactly what time it was when I approached her kennel door this afternoon, her extra attention session! She was pleasantly surprised to find a kong filled with treats and peanut butter for her to enjoy! Once she was done her treat, she was ready to play and found her head stuffed in the toy bin to see what treasures she could find. She excitedly pulled out the pink bunny and happily flung it around in the air. Needless to say, it was another fun filled extra attention session for Sam!

Maggie spent her morning with Chigo and Maddy; the three of them excitedly galloped down the trail on this beautiful day. Maggie was all smiles and her 'fro was waving in the wind. It was an exciting morning for Maggie spent with a big and rambunctious crowd. Like April, she is usually one to stay close to my side but today there was too much to see and do and Maggie was on the move. Good pal Maddy even encouraged her to a wrestle and Maggie thought that was fantastic. But of course I had to get a few photos of Maggie sitting with her impressively fluffy face; she definitely wins the award for best haircut and we just love her so much!

April was excited to join resident Huskies Magic and Justice for her morning walk along the trail. This is April’s favourite part of the day by far and leisurely strolled that trail all morning long. Happy to see her favorite four-legged friends out in the yard, April was definitely a hit amongst the others and she enjoyed following Maggie around the yard. Although April loves her human companionship, she was very busy today running around with her friends but made sure to make a pit stop for a few extra head rubs when she spotted me in the yard. April absolutely adores her extra attention sessions, she's a sucker for cuddles and always enjoys her time spent with our staff. There was lots to see and do up in the front reception area where we hung out together for the afternoon. She enjoyed a peanut butter Kong, but most of all enjoyed her time spent lounging by my feet with all the back scratches she could ever ask for. April makes the best company and I think she couldn't agree more!
