Monday August 7th

So much has changed in the yard since Max and Sadie’s break. They are still adjusting to having full access to the yard, it is interesting to watch. Max is keen to go anywhere in the yard, as long as I’m there he wanders after me. Sadie approaches where the fence used to be slowly, and proceeds over the invisible barrier with her ears and nose very alert. Sadie loves sniffing and exploring all the new ground. This has kept her busy for the majority of the last few days. Of course, she finds her way to the picnic table for her usual fun in the sun. After some sun bathing she was so happy to cuddle me, and offer me lots of kisses. When I stopped petting her she pawed at me and asked for more. Max came barreling over to check out what we were up to at this point. He was eager to get some love for himself. After lots of attention the pair set off to explore some more. Max was so interested in the play structure on the new half of the yard. He leaped up and put his nose in the air, taking in all the smells. Meanwhile, Sadie lay underneath relaxing in the shade. Max was very interested in a little frog today, but was quite fearful of the little fellow. He wandered after him, however every time the frog jumped Max leapt back. When Adam came in the yard, both Sadie and Max smothered him with love. Adam was happy to kneel and cuddle the duo while they kissed his ears and face.

Ayla is such a spit fire. She adds so much energy to all the groups she participates in. She is loving being able to go out with two different groups. This offers her time with her husky friends, as well as the boarding dogs. It is evident that she fits in with the huskies much better. She is learning so many lessons from not only her mother, but her friends Vega, Moka and Kyah. They all race around with smiles on their faces, however occasionally Ayla takes it a step further by leaping on them They let her know right from wrong and continue playing. Ayla was especially fond of Veg today. These two make a very silly pair. They wrestled endlessly, as well as did a lot of play fighting. The most fun Ayla had was on the tunnel. She made note of Kyah balancing on the tunnel and had to try it out for herself. They walked along together until Vega swooped by and knocked them off. This lead Ayla to bolt after Vega and wiggle through the tunnel side by side. The fun never ended for Ayla during her outdoor time.

Barney was one happy boy today! He was so excited to get outside this morning, and ran around the yard with his buddies Cooper and Grace. He had a blast during his walk, and was checking out all the different sound and smells the whole way. He is such a friendly guy and it’s always so nice when he runs over with a big goofy smile on his face looking for a scratch behind the ear. This afternoon when we headed back outside he took a relaxing stroll around the yard, sniffing around in all the long grass.  He was very content relaxing in the sun with all the other dogs and exploring the yard during playtime. Then, he decided he wanted to join in on all the fun and trotted along behind Cooper. The both of them decided to go lay down in the shade underneath the picnic table and took a little break from all the action. Barney then made another friend, the little Shih Tzu Bijou, and the two of them wandered over to check out the play structure and mingle with everyone else. Barney is such a sweet boy and he plays so nicely with all the other dogs—he had so much fun with all his buddies he could have stayed outside all day long! During his extra attention he loved playing with all the toys and we played tug of war for little while with an orange rope that seemed to be his favourite. He also hung out for a little while the sweet girl Maya who came in for grooming. They played with all the toys together and explored all around the room before Barney came over for a big cuddle.
