Merlin had so much fun today! He was so excited to get outside this morning and trotted around the yard with the Husky puppies checking out all the smells in the dewy grass. During extra attention he got to play with his new favourite toy, a squeaky green bone, and spent lots of time cuddling with Delaney in the arm chair. He absolutely loved having some time to play with the all the toys by himself and was very happy to play fetch and tug of war. He even took the green squeaky toy back with him to his kennel where he played with it all day. During outdoor playtime, he was in a very adventurous mood and ran all over the yard, jumping on everything and exploring every nook and cranny. The puppies followed him around pretty closely the whole time; it was so cute! They went and checked out the pool together and hung out in the shade underneath the picnic table. Merlin then decided that he wanted a better view of all the action happening in the yard and hopped up on top of the picnic table. He sat there with me for a little while and I gave him a big cuddle and a scratch behind the ear--he is one sweet boy!
Cody was in a very happy mood today, and was excited about absolutely everything! He was the first one out the door this morning and ran straight to the grass where he sniffed around and covered every inch of the yard. He also had a lot of fun playing with his friend Grace; they sprinted around the yard together and were being so silly as they rolled around in the grass. He was very eager to go out for his walk afterwards and had a great time on the trail with his buddy, Duke. He was so excited he didn't know where to look and was running all over the place, checking out all the different smells in the grass, and wanting to say hello to all the other dogs out on their walks. This afternoon, he had a blast outside and was all over the place, playing with everyone. He and Grace ran around the yard together and jumped up onto the picnic table, wrestling around there for a bit. Then, Cody went to see what was going on underneath the play structure and ended up relaxing in the shade for a bit with Aurora and the puppies; Cricket, Cub and Firefly. The puppies absolutely loved hanging out with Cody and jumped up on him, ready to play. He was very gentle with them and had his tail wagging the whole time as they rolled around beside him.
Millie was so excited for her walk this morning and was bouncing like crazy at the door of her kennel. She joined her friend, Goliath, for an adventure around the field. The two of them were eager to get going but once they reached the trail, the pace slowed down a bit so they could sniff around. Millie also stopped to have a good roll in the grass. After that, it was time for groups! She was practically buzzing with energy and flew out the door to say hello to her friends. There were some new dogs in her group today, so she made her rounds to give each of them a sniff. Addie seemed to be the most interesting and the two of them wandered around a bit together before Millie moved along. Her next stop was to say hello to me, and enjoy a nice back scratch. Another dog, Molly, bounced over with a toy to play fetch. Millie was eager to play as well. Although she wasn't as fast as Molly, she still had fun chasing the toy with her. Eventually the group settled down again and Millie decided to wander around the yard. She poked her nose under the picnic table and then headed over to explore the tunnel. I encouraged Millie to check out the pool, which was currently being used by her friends Belle and Goliath, though Millie quickly turned her nose up at it and went to find a toy instead. We played some tug-of-war with the rope toy she found before it was time to head inside.
Sam met a new friend on her walk this morning - Baxter! The two of them happily greeted each other and then raced for the trail. They went their separate ways to explore, and were content just sniffing around, although occasionally Sam would pounce on Baxter and encourage him to wrestle with her. Baxter decided to save the playing for group time and politely continued on his way, while Sam went bouncing off in another direction. I assumed that she would have calmed down some after her walk, but Sam was even more energetic when it was time for her turn in the yard. She always seems to be happier with only a couple of dogs, so today she was joined by our husky Justice. Sam was very excited to play with him and wasted no time sprinting full speed towards him. Justice on the other hand was not impressed by the dog leaping around in front of him, and went to lay down in the shade. Sam and I went to the grass yard where there was more space for her to run around. I found a ball for her and she raced across the yard when I threw it for her, which wound her up and had Sam running laps around the yard, toy forgotten. Next I called her over to the pool, since she had seemed interested in the empty one but hadn't checked out the full one. Sam hopped into the water and started spinning around, splashing water all over the place! She couldn't seem to sit still, even for a second. Overall Sam had an awesome day full of fun!
