Domino is having the time of his life. The fun never stops when he is outdoors. He is always sure to become the best of friends with each and every dog. He’s basically in husky heaven, being a part of a group with 7 huskies! It’s no secret that huskies have their own way of playing, which makes Domino a very happy camper as he has 7 to play around with. He has been particularly fond of Justice ever since arrival, and today was no exception. I could barely capture the cuteness of Domino wiggling around Justice and Kyah on the picnic table. He had major zoomies trying to get their attention, and even weaved underneath Justice and jumped over Kyah. He loved these two so much. They put up with him for a bit, before he realized he was better off hanging out with the youngsters who could match his energy. When he spotted Harvey and Ayla running about with toys he knew that’s what he wanted to be doing. He quickly joined in on their fun and tried his hardest to steal the toys. When he came across the Jolly Ball, he was thrilled. To my surprise he picked it up and began running around with it. This got Harvey’s attention and the pair set off running. After numerous laps around the yard, Domino took the Jolly Ball to the pool. He cooled off in the fresh water while batting around the toy. After Harvey took the ball from him, Domino continued to wade around. Domino was sure to sneak in some love and affection too. He hopped up on my lap and covered me with his slobbery kisses as I pet his soft coat. He isn’t spoiled, at all J.
Lexie is such a sweet girl. She took her morning to settle into the yard and get to know her group mates. She was in no rush to get playing; rather she enjoyed sniffing and exploring a lot. Lexie hasn’t been here since we modified the yards, offering the dogs a lot more space. She was so intrigued by the whole new part of the yard that she did a double take before stepping over where the old fence was. She slowly made her way into the new area, using a lot of caution. Once she realized it was just another yard, her feet picked up and she began zipping around with her nose in the grass. Her tail was wagging so fast as she explored all over. After a whole lot of adventuring she made her way back to me for some cuddles. As she was climbing up on me, and kissing me, some of her group mates were drawn to her. Lexie hopped back to do some sniffing. She was happy to get to know some kind ladies in her playgroup. She did lots of laps around the gentle Amber, and did a bit of bouncing around with Abby and Bailey. She was mostly keen to hang around with Missy and relax in the shade. When it came time for Lexie’s special one on one time she was so excited to come up front and hang out. Again, she had to sniff all over before settling into my lap. Once she was on my lap she realized I had cookies and she sniffed them out with ease. After showing off some tricks she was happily rewarded. We enjoyed a nice stroll outdoors where I let her lead me around. She took me right through the middle of the field to a nice flower patch. We relaxed in the grass and cuddled before returning indoors for an afternoon nap.
I have found a new love in the sweetest girl, Amber. She is an absolute dream. Amber is sweet as can be in every way, and she isn’t afraid to prove it to you. She took her time heading into the back when she first arrived, however, the moment she stepped foot in the yard with her new friend Bailey for their walk, her tail didn’t stop wagging. Amber and Bailey had the best walk. They hopped along the trail, side by side, as if they’ve known one another for ages. Amber was eager to wander along with her nose to the grass, but everyone couple steps she would zoom back to my side looking for some love. Amber was eager to be loved in the yard too. It took her a bit of time to realize there were so many friendly dogs she could play with. Once she settled in with Missy, she totally relaxed and began to enjoy her freedom. Amber wasn’t too sure of the pool at first, but she slowly began to realize how much fun the water was on a warm day like today. When she was splashing about in the water she drew some attention to herself, which started a game of chase. She was happy to dart around with small friends Bailey, Abby and Missy. Amber was the leader of the group as they zipped around the yard. She continued to run, until she spotted me and chose to love me and kiss me. Amber spent her whole outdoor time bouncing back and forth between her friends, the pool, and myself. She had such a great first day, to say the least.
Bailey never stopped moving, from the moment she arrived to the moment it was time to go home. She loved walking with her new friend Amber, the golden retriever. Amber is a little timid so we thought for her first day it would be good to settle her in with the small dogs. Bailey was a perfect candidate for welcoming a new friend. Bailey instantly was attached to her and the walk was a huge success. They wiggled along the trail as if they’d known one another for ages. Bailey was quick to find her during their group outing too, however, a bone distracted Bailey and captured her attention for the first portion of outdoor time. Any time a dog came by Bailey, she would pickup her bone and bolt off. This started a huge chase, which of course, Bailey led. She wasn’t going to share her bone, no way! She found a good spot to chew it before she got distracted by a different toy and left the bone. Bailey then had a great time zipping and zooming around the yard with her friends Abby, Missy, and Amber. As Bailey was running, she was sure to hoot and holler at her friends. They continued to race around the yard with wagging tails. Bailey took a break by the pool to cool off, but quickly returned to the fun. The fun didn’t stop until it was time to go indoors, and I had to track her down and bring her in. When I put her in her kennel, she immediately crashed. She was quick to recharge her batteries and eager to get out for her next outing where she played and played all afternoon.
Colin was laying like a king on his big comfy bed when I
went to greet him this morning! He had just come in from his first group outing
and was lounging in preparation for his walk. He didn’t have to wait too long
before I was back at his kennel door with a leash and his friends Maggie and
Charlotte, who were bouncing with excitement and ready to get going. Colin
enjoyed stretching his legs on this cooler, breezy day beside his pals on the
trail. He met back up with Maggie, Charlotte and the rest of the group in the
play yard, and was he ever ready to have some fun! Colin said hello to just
about all the dogs before choosing his playmate for the day. He shuffled around
a little bit with April the Shepherd mix, but she wasn’t totally in the mood to
keep playing, so Colin continued on searching. He found his match when he
approached Haley, a fellow shepherd mix, who barked excitedly at the idea of a
wrestling match. The pair bounced around together until Maddy and Charlotte
came running in and the two pairs quickly merged into one big game!
Maggie G is just the sweetest lady and I love spending time
with her throughout the day. I was lucky enough to be paired up with Maggie for
her morning trail walk as well as her group outings today! We marched long the
path with two other dog friends, Haley and Colin the shepherd mixes. After our
stroll, Maggie met back up with her walking buddies as well as the rest of her
group-mates in the play yard. She said polite hellos to the other dogs before
coming to sit by my side for some pets. We watched the rest of the group while
I scratched Maggie’s ears and back and she seemed to enjoy just hanging out
together. She went and moseyed around in the grass for a while with the wind in
her afro, sniffing all of the crevices and around the rocks. She eventually
came across the picnic table, where Haley was perched up on top. Maggie stood
up on the side of the table and gave Haley a sniff, and then suddenly ran off
across the yard to the play house with Haley following behind. Maggie spent
some time sitting in the shade of the structure and accepting visitors into her
little house.
April was up and waiting at her kennel door at walk time
this morning! Now that she’s used to the routine she knows that I’ll be by with
a leash in hand shortly after I first see her in the morning. She met two new
friends out on the trail today, two Nova Scotia Duck Tolling retrievers named
Cabot and Tupper, who were very keen to say hello to April and to get motoring
down the path. April loves her walk, so these boys made a perfect match to keep
up with her quick pace. After her walk, April joined me in the reception area
for some one-on-one time, at which point she showed off some of her obedience
moves! I showed April a little treat and she quickly sat up straight with her
ears perked. April laid down a few times too for a couple more treats until
they were all gone. April was content to just relax and be pet for the rest of
our time together, before making our way back outside for another group outing.
April happily roamed the yard and greeted her pals, simply enjoying this nice
Friday!
Boris was so full of beans today, but that’s no surprise! He
saw that Barb the puppy was out in his play group and just couldn’t contain his
excitement and started to race around the yard in big circles with her. Tasha
took her time to roam around and sniff in the grass for a while before joining
her son in the play time. She briefly went to visit with her mama, Issy, who
was doing her usual circular laps of the yard. Meanwhile, Boris was a busy bee,
playing like crazy with Barb, Leah, Poppy, and Zen. Tasha came to join in the
fun briefly near the end of our play time and let her wiggles out during a race
around with her son.
Zen was quite eager to play today! She was full of spunk and
approached her pal Boris the Husky to get the games going. Annie watched her
sister as she followed the pack of playful dogs around the yard, but opted to
stay on the sidelines and keep her eye on Zen. Boris was running around the yard
at top speed with Zen, Barb, and Leah all chasing close behind. He turned
around every now and then and started to paw and pounce on Zen, which had her
play-bowing and running circles around Boris. It was great to see Zen in such a
playful mood! Meanwhile, Annie had made her way back towards the doorstep to
hang out and relax with Sky and Issy, two more Husky friends that are often
part of Annie and Zen’s daycare group.
