Max and Sadie were in such a good mood today! Max sprinted
out into the yard when I gave him the OK and did a few laps along the fence,
while Sadie went to sniff around in the grass for a little while. Shortly after
entering the yard, Katie came out to join us and Max could hardly contain his
excitement! He started to run around her howling and bouncing as he went. Katie
gave him a back scratch and some pets and Max was over the moon. Sadie had been
on the other side of the yard for a while and decided to wander over to have
her share of snuggles. Max left the petting session to go and dip his toes in
the pool and then went off to sniff around the agility jump. I left Katie and
Sadie to go and see if Max was in the mood to do some jumping, and he certainly
was! I hopped over the jump first and Max followed suit right away! He was
still full of beans and started to do laps and jump over the bar each time he
came back across the yard. Meanwhile, Sadie had hopped up on top of the picnic
table to stretch out and relax.
Issy had a nice relaxing day today. She was happy to spend
time in the kitchen with fellow Husky pal Sky and all of her people friends as
they came and went throughout the day. She joined staff dog Charly the Golden
and Cleo the Lab for her morning trail walk, and marched along in her usual
fashion with her nose pointed in every direction that carried a scent. After
her stroll, Issy took part in a big group of all different types of dogs, both
big and small, including a few Bloodhounds, fellow Huskies, some small mixed
breed dogs, a Lab puppy and a Dachshund. Issy roamed around the yard on her own
schedule and eventually made her way back towards the door area where some of
the quieter friends were relaxing. She posed for a picture and a treat before I
sat down to give her some extra snuggles.
Oscar the Cockapoo and Miko the Shih Tzu were an inseparable
pair today! After their respective morning walks, the boys met up in the yard and
instantly locked eyes. It was as if they knew they were meant to be best
friends. They play tackled each other and once one of them managed to get back
on their feet both boys took off running as fast as their little legs could
carry them. Miko and Oscar had so much fun tumbling across the yard, under the
picnic table, through the play house and back again. They had a few other pals
join them occasionally, including Pearl the Pug and Ghira the Portuguese water
dog. Oscar came across the red Jolly Ball as he was playing, and couldn’t
resist picking it up in anticipation of a game of fetch. He and Ghira make
great competitors when it comes to fetch, and they played a close game again
today!
It was so nice to see little Lola C. and Pearl after their
week away! They were very curious girls, seeing as there was an extra week’s
worth of smells to discover both on the trail and in the yard. Pearl made her
way right out into the grassy yard right away when we went out into the yard,
and Lola decided to hang back and relax in her usual spot by the fence. I
scooped her up and brought her out to visit the rest of the group, and Lola was
very keen to hop down from my arms to sniff around in this unexplored
territory. She and Pearl followed their little noses all around in the grass
until Pearl got a spurt of energy and did a little running around with her
fellow Tuesday daycare pal, Miko as well as a new friend, Oscar. Lola and I
left Pearl to goof around for a bit and ventured back towards the door, where
Firefly the Husky puppy gave Lola lots of kisses! Pearl joined us shortly after
and also received plenty of kisses from the little puppy.
Boris and Tasha enjoyed a fabulous morning
trot with Husky friends Isis and Sky. They saved just enough energy to play
with some new friends in their group today. They met silly brothers Eddie and
Dexter and saw Maddy who was a familiar face from last week! Maddy and Boris
were nearly inseparable for most of the morning, they could barely keep their
paws off one another; they were running and playing so hard. Meanwhile Tasha
was whipping up a storm with Eddie the Doberman, the two of them were fast friends.
Boris, Tasha and their new friends spent most of their day sprinting around the
yard and splashing in and out of the pool to cool off.
Sam has to be the silliest and most
energetic pup I have ever met! After zooming down the trail this morning with Justice
and Percy, she was ready for her play session with Justice out in the agility
yard. She had all the space in the world to run her energy out and run she did;
Justice and I could hardly keep up with this girl, she’s so fast! But perhaps
the most fun was had at the pool; she was jumping and splashing around like
nobody’s business! Sam was pooped after her morning spent zooming around the
yard and swimming in the pool, but she was thrilled that it was her extra
attention time. She excitedly followed me down the hallway and into the front
reception where I had a peanut butter Kong just waiting for her. It’s rare, but
she enjoys her quiet time and she spent her afternoon curled up on the floor
with her special treat. She also took this opportunity to get in as many
cuddles as she could with all our staff members, so many hands free for belly
rubs! The afternoon alone was just what she needed to recharge her batteries
because before she knew it she was heading back outside with her best pal
Justice for another play session in the yard!
Ms. Millie greeted me bright and early this
morning as she was standing on her hind legs with her little bum wiggling as I
approached her kennel door. When I let her out, she excitedly showered me with
lots of love and kisses! Ready to start the day, she joined sweet Golden
friends Jax and Sophie for a morning trail walk. Out in the yard, she was very
playful and wanted to be right in the center of all the action. She had a blast
running around with new friends Lola and Quinn and although her legs are much
shorter than the rest, she kept up the pace and wasn’t going to let anything
slow her down! Millie came racing down the hall and into the front reception for her extra attention time this afternoon. She was such a happy girl right from the start but her excitement grew as she saw all of the toys laying on the floor. I think Millie picked each individual toy up to play with them but she ended up playing with her favorite toy snake the most. Millie and I started a long game of tug with the snake and boy did she ever make it hard to win! Millie was determined to beat and and she did time after time. After the game was over, I got Millie to show me a few tricks and gave her some treats in response.
Lola and Quinn were definitely the stars of
their group this morning! They had just about everyone in that yard chasing
after them including daycare pal Percy and little friend Millie. Quinn was the
one who started the epic chase around the yard and soon enough he had sister
Lola and the rest of the gang pacing behind him. He always ended up in the pool
and would submerge his whole body in the water until just his eyes were peering
over the top. Lola thought this was hilarious and started running circles
around the pool until Quinn jumped out and chased her. They were definitely on
the move for most of the morning and enjoyed every minute of their time out in
the sun and in good company! Lola and Quinn had a fantastic extra attention session spent
together in the indoor playroom. It was such a hot day that I decided to give
them a break from the heat and knew they would have a blast rummaging through
the toy bin. Quinn wasted no time and immediately stuck his head into the toy bin
to see what treasures he could pull out. Meanwhile Lola stuck close to my side
where she got an endless supply of back scratches. Quinn excitedly pulled out
the long rope toy from the bin and this got the attention of Lola. The two of
them played a great game of fetch after the rope and really enjoyed their time
spent alone in the playroom.
Percy enjoyed his trail walk with Justice
and Sam shortly after his arrival this morning and was rearing to go! Percy is
one of our regular daycare friends that we can pair with just about any group
or dog since his is such a gentle and fun loving guy. But he definitely knows
how to have a good time and always plays his little heart out. He was very
pleased to have little rascals Lola and Quinn in his group; together they
enjoyed a few dips in the pool, some chases around the yard and of course his
morning wouldn’t be complete without a few games of fetch!
Jax started his morning off on the right
paw; he excitedly joined fellow Golden friend Sophie for a leisurely stroll
along the back trail. A short while later he was back with his good friend
Sophie for some fun in the sun. Jax has to be one of the most fun-loving and
energetic Golden’s around and him and Sophie had a great time rolling around on
the grass together and splashing around in the pool. And of course we can’t
forget that infamous smile of his; every time I called him over his lips would
wrinkle up and he would show me his pearly whites in excitement, what a doll! Jax was right into the groove of things when I went to get him for his extra attention time. He followed me right up front with his tail wagging and a huge smile on his face. We started playing with the ball of his choice. The two of us played a short game of catch and even a game of tug. I loved throwing the ball up and seeing how high he'd jump for it. He almost always caught it right out of the air. Jax and I headed outside shortly after for a stroll around the field. Jax kept himself busy as he sniffed as much of the grass as he could.
