Max and Sadie had another really great day! They were very excited to get going on their walk and the three of us ran over to the path to begin our trek. Once they settled into their kennel after their walk, each of them curled up in a ball on their comfy beds. I went in for a few moments to give them some much needed snuggles. It is good to have them back with us! When it was time for us to go back out, Max and Sadie both sat patiently at the door. They waited until I gave the okay and then bolted outside. Sadie got out and went to the right of the door and began sniffing the grass. Max followed me to the new open yard and explored around the pallets. He found something beneath of of them and tried his best to stick his nose between the boards. He was so funny and began to dig at it- I wonder what was underneath there. I then went to join Sadie in her favourite part of the yard. Today, instead of sitting on the picnic table, she was content to stand in the small turtle pool. I tried to get Sadie to put her paws in the bigger pool, but all she did was take a few sniffs of the water and back away. I brought her over to the grass with me, where we sat down together and I gave Sadie lots of cuddles. I started petting her head and ears and she then sat down for me to massage her back. She loves getting as many pets as possible. Pretty soon she was on her back, with me giving her a good belly rub. It wouldn't be fair if Sadie was to get all the attention so Max made himself known and put his paws on my lap too, wanting some cuddles. I pet his head and he began to lick my face with lots of gentle kisses!
Grace was her usual bouncy self, waiting as patiently as possible at her kennel door when she saw me walking over with leashes. As soon as she was out of her kennel and saying hello to the other dogs, Grace forgot about being patient and went flying out the door. The friends joining us on her walk were Barney and Bella, and I knew that Grace was going to get along with Bella a bit too well! For the first part of the walk, they were fairly calm and occasionally gave each other a playful shoulder bump as they were wandering around to explore the trail. Once the girls had done enough sniffing, they had an all-out wrestling match while I attempted to keep their leashes organized. Both of them were ready for a rest when we finally made it back to their kennels. For her group, Grace was just as energetic and immediately hopped over to the group’s new addition, Max. He was more than happy to play with her for a bit, before they went their separate ways and Grace took a chance to explore the yard. She was nosing around in the grass when suddenly her usual playmates,Cooper and Mikka, came racing over. It didn’t take long before the three of them were tearing around the yard with Grace leaping and dodging easily on her long legs. She dove into the play structure and bravely defended it from Mikka and now Timbits, before darting out the other side and leading everybody on another lap.Barney certainly seemed to be in a good mood today. We started the day’s activities off on a walk with his friends Grace and Bella. He eagerly said hello to the girls and then the three of them made a beeline for the trail, where they quickly darted off in separate directions to explore. Barney took his time making sure to give everything a thorough sniff before he moved along to the next patch of grass. Although overcast, it was a nice temperature outside today and the dogs definitely appreciated a break from the heat! After his walk, Barney could hardly wait for his group rotation in the yard. When it was time for the small dogs to head outside he happily trotted after them, following the group as we headed to the main yard. He was excited to check out the area and slowly wandered along the fence with his nose buried in the grass. Occasionally, I would head over to see what he was up to and Barney would get the sweetest expression on his face when he realized it was cuddle time. He enjoyed a nice back rub and then decided to say hello to some of the other dogs. The first one he bumped into was a new friend, Max, who immediately play-bowed and encouraged Barney to chase him. In the end, Barney was much happier just sitting back and watching the others run around like crazy, while he relaxed and soaked up some attention.Pictures for August 6th - Click here!
