What a beautiful day to start the week! Millie was in a
bright and cheery mood to match the weather on this lovely Monday. After
breakfast, Millie enjoyed her morning walk with two gentle giants, the Great
Pyrenees sisters Annie and Zen, who made great sniffing buddies out on the
trail. There were plenty more friends for Millie to hang out with during her
group outings today, too. She was quite the little social butterfly and flitted
from friend to friend, saying hello and participating in the occasional play
session. A few friends started to run around the yard by the agility tunnel,
and Millie sprinted over to join in, seeing as she always loves some fun on the
tunnel! She leapt up on top and watched from her high vantage point, before
hopping back down and going for a wrestle inside the tunnel with Molly the
Golden. After lots of silly antics, Millie trotted over to the pool to cool off
for a minute and then came to sit with me on the picnic table for some back
scratches and pets. Millie and I spent some one-on-one time together in the reception area this afternoon in between her group outings. She was thrilled to find the toy bin full and waiting for her to dismantle! After some digging, Millie found an orange ball that she particularly liked and rolled it around on the floor. She went on to play with almost every toy in the bin before hopping up on the armchair to relax.
Tanner was in such a great mood today! He bounced with
excitement at walk time, and enjoyed his stroll on the path with two Golden
girls, Merida and Charly. He was quite a snuggle bug during his group outings
and didn’t venture far from my side where I could easily reach down and give
him a scratch on the head. Tanner and I walked all around the yard together to
watch the other dogs and he greeted a few pals along the way. We stopped at the
picnic table and sat down so that I could easily pet Tanner and Millie and throw
the ball for the others all at the same time. Tanner rested his head on my lap
and enjoyed a head rub and ear scratch while we sunbathed!
Annie and Zen were very curious about their walking buddy
this morning! They were paired up with the little Boston Terrier named Millie,
who may be small but has quite a big personality. After their walk, Annie and
Zen had a drink of water and then headed out into the yard to see their
friends. The girls spent their group times lounging and relaxing with their
noses glued to the ground in search of all sorts of smells. Annie and Zen
noticed little Barb the Lab puppy running around with the other dogs and they
wandered over to investigate this little presence. Barb wagged her tail and
rolled on the ground in front of the girls, happy to make their acquaintance.
When the puppy hopped back up and took off running, Annie and Zen took up post
in the shade along the fence, where they watched the other dogs play.
Finnigan was well rested and ready to play after the
weekend! He was pleased to see the pool glistening in the sunshine on this warm
and sunny day, and wasted no time before hopping in to have a splash around.
Finnigan batted at the little pig toy that was floating in the water, but was
quickly captivated by the antics that had begun on the other side of the yard.
The Husky girls Vega, Magic and Aurora were in a race with Baxter the
Portuguese water dog, Maddy the Lab mix, and Barb the Lab puppy. Finn flew out
of the pool, leaving a big rooster tail of water in his wake and ran straight
through the tunnel and out the other side. He had a great time wrestling and
running around with Aurora and friends before going back to the pool to lay
down in the water and take a break until he was ready to start up again.
Sweet Sam had another great day with us! After her first
morning outing and her breakfast, Sam met up with her good pal Justice for
their walk in the field. She motored along beside her buddy with her nose glued
to the ground, only looking up when she decided to pounce and roll in the
grass. Sam was still full of energy and spunk when it came time for her group
outings with Justice. I had just refilled the pool with clean water, and Sam
couldn’t wait to get splashing in it! She hopped in and dunked her whole face
in the water, which got her extra excited and then flew out of the pool to race
around in the grass. This became a little route around the yard and Sam went
back and forth between the pool and running for a good while. When she decided
to slow down for a minute, Sam went over to see what Justice was up to,
followed by a quick pet with me before going off to the races again. She hardly
stopped moving all day! Sam and I went into the indoor playroom this afternoon for some one-on-one time. I brought a bone toy with a treat hidden in each end, and Sam couldn't have been more excited to try and get them out! She picked up the toy right away and circled the room to find the perfect spot to sit and concentrate. Sam carried the toy around the room even after she'd gotten the treat out and even brought it to sit on the bed where I gave her a good back scratch.
Max and Sadie were just beaming with
excitement upon arrival this morning; they were eager to head out for their
morning trot! After a nice walk along the trail, it was time to head back
outside on this beautiful sunny day and explore the yard. While Max excitedly
started running laps around the yard, Sadie quickly found her new favorite
spot. By the time I made it over she was already sprawled out on the wooden
plank sunbathing. Max was pre-occupied dipping his paws in and out of the pool
so I took a seat beside Sadie to enjoy the sun. She stretched out even further
and demanded a few belly rubs since I was already there! After some fun in the
sun, the three of us were on the hunt for some shade for the rest of the
morning. Max and Sadie happily followed me into the grassy yard with shade;
Sadie found a comfortable spot in the empty pool and Max took a seat beside me
on the picnic table.
Oscar is just the sweetest little guy; he
was one of the first smiling faces that greeted me this morning.
Ready to start his day, he was smiling from ear to ear and his tail was wagging
a million miles an hour. He gave me lots of hugs and kisses when I let him out
of his kennel and out into the yard. He had the best time galloping along our
back trail for his morning walk with friends Shelby and Isis. Out in the yard
for his group session it was all play for Oscar! He and Ghira the Portie have
become fast friends and had a blast chasing after the Jollyball together. Oscar was fast and was always the first one
to the ball; he excitedly picked it up with his mouth and started running
around with it in pride. Except the ball was bigger than his head, but that
didn’t stop him from whipping around the yard!
