I had the pleasure of spending another day with Casey in the yard and we had so much fun! Casey was full of love for the first half of his group. All he wanted to do was sit beside me and get lots of pets and attention. After he was happy with our time together, he ventured off to hangout with his friends. Casey got a game of chase going and he chased Domino and Vega around the yard. Casey really liked Vega today, one of our husky girls. He followed her around for quite a while, getting her to wrestle with him. They had a blast! Casey was very flirty with Vega and kept putting his front paws on her back and pawing at her face. Once they started running, Domino joined in and Casey was thrilled. Ever so often, Casey would stop running and just watch his friends as they went around the yard. Each time, I went and sat beside him. I could tell he was happy because his tail would start to whip from side to side. He went back and forth with cuddling and playing with his friends. When the others were occupied chasing each other for a bone, I grabbed another toy and Casey and I had our own little game of catch. I threw the ball in the air and Casey leaped to get it. He didn't catch it but leaped on it as soon as it hit the ground. He liked this game and kept returning it to me each time.

Domino loved the group he was with today! They all had so much fun together and he was always doing something he loved. He began his playtime by immediately climbing in the pool. He was the first one in there so it was nice and clean! Then he moved on to play with some toys. Domino's friend Molly grabbed a rubber bone and Domino was determined to get it from her. He chased Molly back and forth until she finally gave in and dropped it. It was then his turn to be chased with the bone! He is a very quick boy, so the others had to work really hard to catch him! Domino had 3 of his friends hot on his trail, and he was quick to avoid them, leaping all over the agility tunnel and bolting from one end of the yard to the other. Eventually his friends caught up to him and Casey was the victor and walked away with the bone in his mouth. Once Casey drooped it, it was up for grabs again and Domino waited patiently for me to throw it again. Domino and Molly grabbed it at the same time and then a tug-of-war game started out. Domino then raced around, chasing his friends. He ended up with the bone in his mouth, and carried it into the tunnel where he had a little alone time with his toy! He is such a cute guy.

Issy had a really great day today! She got to spend lots of time with Isis in the kitchen and out for her group. Issy was very adventurous while she was outside today. She first wandered around and sniffed the grass until she was satisfied with her findings. After, she said hello to Barb and Isis. Once she came full circle around the yard, I was waiting for her where I gave her lots of pets. I rubbed her ears and scratched all down her back. She was very content with her back massage. I left Issy to do some more exploring and returned to find her snooping around the agility tunnel. She had followed Isis and Leia in there, where they were playing. Issy didn't join in on their wrestling game, but she was very happy to be in their company. Towards the end of her group time, Issy made  her way to the pool, where she fancied taking a quick dip. She slowly put each paw in the water. She took a few steps around, and Scout jumped in there with her. She didn't stay long and left, shaking off before she went back inside. At lunch, Issy was treated to some cuddles from Nicki and Tiff and a little biscuit.

Leia was so happy to be back at Tails & Trails! She got to spend the day with her mom and her new friends! She and Aurora shared a kennel today and throughout the day, I caught them getting lots of snuggles in while they could. During their group time, Leia reunited with Barb, Kinsey's lab puppy and these two loved each other! They wrestled all over the yard, rolling over each other in the grass. When Leia showed interest in the pool, Barb went right over to make sure Leia got in there with her. They then began splashing and wrestling around in the water- it was the cutest thing to see! Aurora of course wanted to get some play time with her little princess Leia too, so she played with Leia in the grass. Each time, Leia lay down and let her mom gentle wrestle with her. They both had so much fun. Later during their playtime, Tiffani came to visit our group and she picked up Leia and gave her lots of cuddles. Leia was very polite and gave Tiffani plenty of kisses to return the favour. Leia was happy to head inside for a little afternoon rest.

Bailey came in for another day of daycare with an abundance of energy! Right from the get go Bailey showed us that she was definitely ready to play. She joined the little dogs during her group time but was more focused on all of the toys in the yard. As soon as she outside, Bailey was racing to the far yard and already looking for a toy. She picked up a pink ball and immediately started doing laps around all of her friends. It was almost as though she was trying to show off her new prized possession. She sure did look very proud to have found it. Once she was done running, Bailey brought the ball over to me and the two of us began a game of tug-of-war. She is so strong whenever we play that I can barely hold on. The two of us went back and forth for a little while until my hand slipped. Bailey went off and started running laps of victory. While doing her laps, Bailey found an even better toy, a bone! She and her best friend Barbara tore around the yard with the bone in her mouth. They flew all over the yard and even stopped to play around in the pool for a short while.

Max and Sadie were the happiest pair to be back for another day of daycare. They joined me out in the yard for one of their outdoor play groups and decided to take it easy at first. Sadie went over to the furthest yard in order to sniff around the fence while Max greeted me with plenty of kisses. This continued for a short while until the two of them suddenly started racing around. It was almost as though they had both gotten a burst of energy at exactly the same time. Max darted towards Sadie and the two of them went flying around the yard as fast as they could. They jumped on and off of the picnic table, ran through the agility tunnel, and even rolled around on the ground while play tackling. Soon after they had slowed down, the duo was ready to cool off by the pool. Max was the first to stick his paws in and get a drink but Sadie followed close behind. Max and I hung out by the pool for a bit longer as I gave his head and ears a good rub. Then I decided to join Sadie for some play structure fun. I had her follow me in and out of the play structure and soon enough she was darting through every little circle that she could fit through. To end off their group time, Max, Sadie, and I all sat up on the picnic table and cuddled for a little bit.

Wednesdays at Tails & Trails mean some of our favourite daycare friends are in for a day filled with fun! Finnigan, Chloe and Oakley were part of an epic playgroup out in the yard today. Throw in Haley the Shepherd, Stella the GSP and Charly the Golden and we have ourselves a full on yard party! Before all the fun started in the yard, these three pals were eager to head out on their morning trail walks. Chloe joined Scout for her trot while Finnigan and Oakley joined forces for theirs. Once walks were over, Finnigan and his friends were ready to get the pool party started. Finnigan really enjoyed his time surrounded by all of his favourite ladies and he was quite the hit at the pool! In usual Finnigan fashion, he fully submerged himself in the pool until only his eyes were peering out over the water. Big-girl Chloe thought that looked like fun and tried it out for herself; luckily we set up the bigger pool just for her today! She was able to stretch out her long legs and was splashing up quite a storm. Then they were off; Finnigan found himself playing an epic game of tug with pal Stella while Chloe was whipping around the yard and in and out of the agility tunnel away from Charly and Haley. I could see her floppy tongue and big eyes peering out from the opening of the tunnel to see if the coast was clear and then she would take off like the speed-demon she is! Oakley was quite amused with all of the action out in the yard today. She had her big ears and tail perked right up in excitement every time Chloe and friends whipped by. She even went over to the opening of the tunnel where Chloe was hanging out to investigate. But once Chloe took off, she quickly ran back by my side where she had the front-row seat. There were definitely lots of cuddles and head scratches today, but for the most part she was off exploring the yard. Good friend Haley tried to intercept her and get her attention on one of her laps and Oakley excitedly gave her a few head nudges to say hello but very politely let her know that she was interested in the chase around the yard. She had the perfect seat by my side and took full advantage of my attention while the others were off, smart girl!

Casey had another great day today! He was a little angel on his walk, joined by his two gal pals Annie and Zen. Both these girls are quite a bit taller than Casey, and it was funny to watch them walk together. At one point, Annie and Zen were walking on either side of Casey and they sandwiched him right between them! Later on in the morning, Casey met some other friends outside, and his favourite friend was Stella, who arrived last night. Stella is so full of energy and Casey had a blast chasing her around. He chased Stella all around the yard, and when he finally caught her, the two of them wrestled around for a few minutes before returning to their game of chase. When Casey was standing by his friends, taking a break, I took my chance to get some cuddle time with him. Casey sat down right beside me while I pet his head and rubbed his ears. He then gave me a few little kisses on my nose. Once Casey saw Percy and the other dogs go in the pool, he trotted away to see what they were doing. Once he was standing right beside the pool, he got a few splashes of water right in the face! He immediately backed up, confused as to what Percy was doing. He stood back for a while, being very wary of the water. Once the others had left the pool, Casey then went and stuck his nose in and took a few sips of water. That was enough for him! He moved on to play more with Stella and race around. We reunited a few minutes later and snuggled for a few minutes before heading back inside.

Percy had a blast today! He couldn't decided between playing with his toys, his friends or going in the pool, so he did a little bit of everything. He began by playing with Stella, who is his new friend outside. Percy loves to chase Stella around the yard. She's a bit faster than Percy, so they ran around for what seemed like forever! Once Percy needed a break from running, he found himself a rubber bone outside and carried it around. He's never been one to play fetch so he was very happy to carry his prize around the yard with him. After a few laps of the yard, and the occasional race after his friends, Percy was ready to take a dip in the pool. It was finally full enough for him to do his swimming routine. He got in and lay down as best as he could, then proceeded to dig his paws in the water. He is so cute while he does this, and got some of the other dogs wet while he was splashing around. Percy then went in and out of the pool, juggling different toys and racing around the yard until he returned inside for a well needed nap.

Issy had little Barb clinging to her for most of her morning. Barb really loves Issy and Issy is very patient with and nice to Barb. Issy got outside and made her rounds of the yard. She sniffed along the fence and then headed back towards the gravel to hang out with Ricky. Barb was right under her nose the entire time, looking up at her and trying to lick her nose. After she made her rounds of the yards, I got Issy to join the rest of her group over in the far yard, where she continued to put her nose to work. I went up to Issy and snuggled her for a while. She loves getting cuddled outside, and then returning inside to her cozy spot in the kitchen. She is such a spoiled girl! After her group, Tiffani and I sat down for lunch in the kitchen with Issy and she enjoyed a little treat of her own.

Lola and Pearl had a very relaxing day at daycare today. Pearl started her day with a very nice walk accompanied by Vanna, her little friend. Lola went for her own walk too, a slower little stroll in the front field and then the two girls met back in their kennel. When it was time for their group, they went their separate ways again. Lola stayed more towards the door, and explored the gravel, while Pearl headed right for the grass. Pearl had her little nose glued to the grass and let it guide her all through the yard. She ended up underneath the picnic table. I went over to see what she was doing and called her name. She had found something very interesting and didn't look up when I called her. I left Pearl to finish her exploring, and returned to Lola to give her some cuddles. Lola sure loves a good bum scratch! It wasn't long before Pearl noticed her sister getting lots of attention and she came over to get some too. Pearl got a good back and bum rub and then these two ladies were off to their kennel. They went back to their cot, but before I could put their blanket down, they huddles together on the cot. I placed the blanket down on them and they were content to sit underneath it. I couldn't resist getting a cute photo of the two!

Max and Sadie were eager as ever to head out on their morning trail walk. They patiently sat and greeted me at their kennel door but they could hardly contain their excitement and their  bums wiggled until I gave them the go ahead. They happily stretched out their long legs and enjoyed an energetic trot down the trail. During their outdoor play session, the two of them took a quick dip in the pool followed by a few laps around the yard to dry off. Max found a special bone out in the yard and the two of them took turns running around with it in their mouth. Sadie brought her special treasure with her up onto the play structure while Max hung back to show me how high he could leap over the agility jump!

Domino started his morning off with a trail walk joined by friends Molly and Percy; he was pleased to be in such good company on this beautiful morning. When it was time to head back outside, he was thrilled to meet up with daycare friends Boris and Tasha and boarding pal Bing. It definitely was a Husky party this morning and everyone had a blast chasing Domino and Boris around the yard and in and out of the agility tunnel. Every time I would call Domino’s name, he would greet me with the biggest and most beautiful smile. He is such a friendly boy and our four-legged guests sure have been enjoying his company. Boris especially loved his rambunctious energy and the two of them were nearly inseparable for most of the morning. Throw in Husky ladies Vega and Tasha to the mix and we had a full on group wrestle and everyone was literally leaping over the agility tunnel. Boris and Tasha had the best time running around with Domino and needless to say, they were perfectly paired for a day of fun together!

Max and Sadie were bursting with energy today. They started their morning off with a nice trail walk with Susan, where Max was gung ho to speed ahead and Sadie wanted to take her time to sniff every blade of grass. When it was time for their group outing, Max and Sadie were so excited they couldn't sit still. After waiting patiently they finally relaxed a little and and sat nicely in their kennel. I let them outside, where they both took off doing a big lap of both yards. They slowed things down and did some very thorough sniffing, checking up on all the fresh smells from their week away. Max took a quick dip in the pool while Queen Sadie hopped up into the play structure to watch her brother from above and enjoy the cool breeze. Max did a few more laps around the yard while Sadie came over for some cuddles and lots of kisses. I offered them some cookies before heading inside, but they decided they weren't quite yummy enough for them. Max and Sadie quickly settled into their kennel on their big comfy beds to rest before their next turn.

Bella and Jake zoomed into the yard without any hesitation when their group time rolled around. Today the pair was particularly interested in the newer portion of the yard. They had their noses to the ground for a large amount of their outdoor time. No matter how much I bounced around Jake, or tried to cuddle Bella, they were determined to continue sniffing around. Finally, little Abby came darting around the corner to check them out, which got both Jake and Bella fired up. Jake instantly starting dancing around with Abby, resulting in Bella getting all excited too. Bella was more concerned about her brother goofing around than Abby; regardless she played with the both of them. Bella only played for a little bit, bouncing around, pawing at her brother, and barking at Abby until she decided to break off and continue exploring. Jake on the other hand was absolutely fascinated with Abby and her sparkly, spunky, personality. He couldn’t get enough of her fast games, which included a lot of racing and running as well as some boxing and dancing. After numerous laps around the yard, Bella re-joined the fun. The trio continued to zip and zoom around the yard, enjoying each others company and the wonderful weather until it was time to return indoors.

It’s been a while since I have last seen Tanner, as I’m not usually in on Mondays. I was so thrilled to see his happy self bouncing around in his kennel first thing this morning. He was so excited to get clipped to a leash, and head out for his walk. Tanner enjoyed the company of two new friends, Casey and Finn. The trio kept me very busy along the trail as they all seemed very excited to have one another around and there was a lot of playing involved in our walking. In the yard, Tanner took his time to settle in. He sniffed the entire yard before making his way from dog to dog to say his hellos. When he came across Finnigan, a light went off and his energy came out of nowhere. Tanner began zipping and zooming around with a big smile on his face. As he was running around he stopped at a couple dogs to play bow, inviting them to play. A couple dogs were very interested in Tanner. He had so much fun playing with Finnigan and Bing, running around boxing and wrestling. He continued to play until the whole group joined in. He took this opportunity to break off from the action and meet up with me. As usual Tanner poked his head between my legs asking me to please pet and cuddle him. Without any hesitation I put the camera down so I could give him a really good scratch, pet and cuddle. Tanner was very pleased with this. When I stopped he began howling at me and jumping all over me, asking me to please continue. Tanner and I then spent the remainder of outdoor time hanging out together, supervising the busy games going on around us.

Finn had such a stellar day. He met a new best friend, Bing. Bing is a new boarder, and he couldn’t have met a better match than Finn. The moment Finn got outdoors, he instantly had a bounce in his step, and began zipping and zooming around seeking a buddy. When Bing came along, Finn’s eyes lit up and they were inseparable from there on out. I don’t think I have seen Finn run as fast as he was running today. He had lots of his group mates chasing him around the entire agility yard. Finnigan even looped through the agility tunnel, and around the mini fence. He was so fast on his feet; it was a lot of fun to watch. When Bing finally caught him, Finnigan did his famous stop, drop, and roll. He drew a lot of attention to himself when he did this, which he loved. As he was flailing about on his back, and pawing at the air, all his mates danced around him. Finally he leapt up and began boxing and wrestling with Bing. He led Bing to the pool where the duo cooled down. Finnigan wasn’t afraid to lie down in the water and get nice and wet. Finn kept at these shenanigans for his entire outdoor time. If he wasn’t swimming or running he was wrestling and boxing with his mates. He had such a busy day!

Casey was quite the hot topic in the yard today. Every staff member, and dog, was excited to have him back. Casey was so thrilled to meet so many new faces today, his tail never stopped wagging. In the yard it seems as though every single dog wanted to play with him, even the dogs that are usually more reserved. Casey took every invite and opportunity that he had, and was sure to play with everyone. He was especially fond of Justice, the husky. These two made such a great match for playing. They were both very keen to box; standing tall on their hind legs with their forearms wrapped around open another. Both Casey and Justice liked hopping backwards and darting in circles before returning to the boxing position. Casey didn’t only box with Justice; he also boxed and wrestled with Bing, Domino, and Tanner. It could have been weather with the sun shining, and the pools out, he was sure to take advantage of everything. He loved dipping his paws in the water to cool off, but never stayed in long. He wasn’t too keen on getting wet. Casey continued to play with everyone for his entire group outing. When it was time to return indoors he had a great mid day nap which recharged his batteries enough to have just as much fun in the afternoon.

Domino continues to have an amazing time with us. He is one of the happiest dogs ever. His outgoing personality combined with his fun loving spirit, makes for an absolute joy to have. He is a great member to any playgroup, always contributing to the fun and getting all his friends to goof around. Domino was excited to be out in the agility yard for his whole morning outing. There were so many new smells to uncover that it took him a bit of time to really get playing. He zoomed around with his nose to the ground taking in all the interesting things the grass and rocks had to hide. Once he finally settled in he quickly met up with his husky friends to begin playing around. In the middle of all his games he spotted Casey, and made a beeline for him. Domino had a lot of fun boxing with Casey. The duo was a great pair, batting back and forth and dancing around with one another. It wasn’t long before Justice joined in, and Domino was even more excited. After some team fun, Domino broke off to dip in the pool. He loves the big pool! He had so much fun splashing around with his friends in the cool fresh water. Domino was a big suck for the toys today. We had a lot of fun tossing around a blue saucer. He tried very hard to keep it to himself, which caused a big game of keep away He was in the lead as several of his friends chased him around. The fun never stopped, even when he hopped in the pool and dropped the toy his continued batting around at it under water. Domino couldn’t have had more fun during his group time. When it was time to come in, he brought his toy into his kennel and had a nap with it by his side before returning outdoors for more games.

Lexie started her day off still sleepy from the night before, but the moment I opened her door she was raring to go. We walked outside and she basked in the morning sun just before bolting around the yard to sniff out the yard. She met up with a bunch of her group mates and began another day of fun and exploration. Extra Attention is where Lexie and I really bonded today. Although she started off a bit timid, by the time I gave her a couple of scratches and kisses we were best friends. She loves jumping up on the big comfy chairs at reception and scoping out the bucket of fresh treats on the nearby table. She met up with her golden retriever friend Amber and after about 5 minutes of them sniffing each other out they decided to play around with a couple of squeaky toys. Lexie and Amber parted ways as we embarked on another walk around the front yard. In our last play date of the day she made sure to follow me around knowing I would give her the cuddles and scratches she wanted. All in all a great day for Lexie and I can't wait to hang out with her again!

I met Amber for the first time today and the second she ran through the door she was a ball of energy... and cuteness of course. One of the staff members even went as far as saying she was the cutest dog ever. She immediately gave out lots of hugs and kisses to everyone in the room before a green squeaky toy caught her eye and she fell in love. Alyssa took her out for a nice long walk and she was ecstatic to be jumping around the grass on such a beautiful sunny day. During group playtime there's no doubt about it, Amber's one of the most popular dogs in the group. She has tons of friends always wanting to play with her, varying from a little beagle named Bailey to a big husky. This is most likely due to her friendly and welcoming personality that draws everyone to her. Amber loves getting big hugs and scratches around her ears but above all she loves sitting on staff members like she's a small lap dog. After a long day of trotting around the yard, chilling with friends and getting loved up she is pooped and ready to have a great nights sleep so we can do it all again tomorrow.
Amber and I had lots of fun during her extra attention time! At first she came up to the front, and she greeted Lexie and April. She was a very good girl and politely said hello to them all, not jumping up once! After a quick hello to the rest of the staff, she and I went outside for a little walk. Amber was so happy to be running around. She ran through the grass field, not stopping to sniff anything for a few moments. After we slowed down and walked along the trail. Amber stopped to sniff the longer grass and posed for some very pretty photos. Once we walked along the trail, we made our way back to the front where we met April again. April and Amber shared a few sniffs and Amber even play bowed to April. She leaped up to April to play, but I got her to sit down and say hello to April again, but with no jumping. Once we were back inside, Amber got really comfy on the chair and got lots of pets from Tiffani and myself. Right before going back to her kennel, Amber did some tricks for a few little treats. She sat down and gave me her paw a few times. After that I got her to sit and then lie down. She is such a good girl.

Nymeria had a great day in daycare today! She spent lots of time with her husky friends, especially Ayla and her cousin Vega. Vega and Nymeria got to play fighting right away, where Vega chased Nymeria onto the table and they pawed at each other. Nym stood on the table while the rest of them were below her. After a few minutes, she bounced off and took off racing towards the other side of the yard. Not long after that, Nymeria noticed the pool being filled and leaped right in. She got her face and paws all wet and then began digging in the water. It was very cute to watch. She continued doing this, which attracted the attention of Ayla and Domino. Domino jumped right into Nym, splashing everywhere and Ayla squeezed into the kiddie pool with them. It got pretty crowded with the three of them in there, and to solve that Nym simply lay down in the water. Once she was done, she came out and shook the water off while she was right beside me-silly girl! She went back and forth between the pool and the picnic table, playing nonstop with everyone. She really was little miss popular in her group!

Domino is so handsome! I love getting to spend time with him. To begin his day, he went for a morning outing and then met some new friends, Nymeria and Bing on his walk. Bing and Domino became fast friends and tried to play a bit while walking. Lauren let them play for a few minutes but then they continued on the trail, walking very nicely side by side. Later in the morning, Domino met his friends again outside, but this time it was Nymeria who he wanted to play with! Nymeria was a ball of fun today and Domino wrestled with her for the longest time. Once Domino's friends went to the pool, he got so excited and raced over there. He was running so fast that he leaped into the pool and tripped a little bit, slipping face first into the water. He was okay, and bounced right back up. Nymeria took this as an invite to play, so these two love birds wrestled around in the pool. When Domino wasn't playing with his friends, he came over to Lauren and I for some cuddles. He loves to give kisses sometimes and today was one of those times! I knelt down to pet him and scratch his ears and he was very content, with his tail wagging back and forth. He took another race around the yard before it was time to head inside.

Maggie had a lovely day today and was in a very happy mood! She was very excited to go out this morning but sat very nicely, like always, and waited for Alyssa to open her kennel. She wandered around the yard saying hello to everyone with a wagging tail and a happy smile on her face. She also had a great time during her walk and was very content as she trotted along the trail with her buddies! This afternoon we all headed outside for playtime, and she came right out into the yard and mingled with all the dogs. She was also very happy to follow me around and get a scratch behind the ear every little while. She enjoyed relaxing in the shade with her friends Leah and Poppy, but would run out onto the grass for a cuddle whenever I called her name! She is such a sweet girl and is always ready for a cuddle! She was also having a blast exploring the pool and the play structure with her pals Haley and Dougie.

April had such a wonderful day today! She was very excited to get outside this morning and trotted around the yard saying hello to all her buddies. She had a great time during her walk and was in a very adventurous mood. She ran all over the trail—exploring all the different smells and having a wonderful time with her friend Maddy. Then, we headed out into the front yard for her extra attention time where she met Amber, the sweet Golden Retriever. The two of them had a nice big hello with tails wagging before Amber headed back inside. Then, April bounded through the grass with a big goofy smile on her face before flopping down and getting a big belly rub. She was very happy to lie in the grass with me and soak up some sun while I gave her a long scratch behind the ear. She was very cuddly again today so we lay there for quite a while and relaxed before Susan came over to say hi. April was so happy to see her and gave her a big kiss before sitting back down with me and posing for some pictures. She was a great model! During outdoor playtime this afternoon she hung out a lot with her pal Willie. The two of them explored the yard together and came over to get a scratch behind the ear while I sat at the picnic table. Then, she decided to go and cool off so she jumped into the pool with Maddy and Dougie. They all had a blast splashing around in there!

Saturday, August 26th, 2017

Domino had yet another wonderful day. He had a very fun walk this morning with his friends Maya and Amber. After he'd taken some time to explore the trail, Domino decided that he wanted to play with Amber. She wasn't quite sure what to do at first, but once he pounced on her, she wasted no time leaping back. They were darting in circles around each other and Maya, which soon had the leashes in quite the knot. Domino looked quite pleased with himself while I untangled them. Play time was even better in the yard since he was free to run around and had more friends to chase around. After saying hello to the other huskies, Domino bounced over to the pool with Ayla, and the two of them were soon splashing around. Vega happened to run past and soon had both Domino and Ayla on her tail. It didn't take long before the girls had decided to team up on Domino, who leaped onto the picnic table in an attempt to evade them. Vega just jumped up beside him and sent them both tumbling into the grass. He hopped to his feet and went flying across the yard to where the shepherds Ammo and Bella were chasing each other around. Domino dove into the play structure and poked his head out the top, watching the dogs run laps. Eventually his perch was taken over by the others and Domino ended up back in the pool, this time with Maya at his side. I went over to see them both and Domino happily shook the water all over me while I was petting him. Still full of energy, he went racing back to Ayla and Vega for another round.

Ammo should be tired tonight after all of the fun he had today. He got the morning started on a walk with his friend Molly. Both of them were zigzagging all over the trail with their noses pressed in the grass, occasionally bumping shoulders as if them wanted to play but weren't quite ready to commit to a wrestling match this early in the day. When it was group time, Ammo was eager to meet the rest of the dogs and hit it off right away with Bella, another shepherd. She was more than happy to play with him. After Bella had pounced on Ammo, she led him on a chase around the yard which ended up with the two of them running in circles around the play structure. Ammo definitely needed to cool down after that so he went over to the pool and laid right down in it. He was almost too big for it! Ammo had the time of his life rolling around and splashing the water everywhere. When Bella came over to check out what he was doing, he gave a playful growl and leaped out to chase her again. They were joined by Ayla and Molly - Ammo was delighted to have more friends! He quickly pounced after Ayla and followed her to the play structure. They were climbing around inside and sticking their heads through every opening. I walked over to give Ammo some cuddles while he was taking a break. He gave me a slobbery doggy kiss and then bounced over to the pool again. This time when he climbed in, Molly hopped right in with them. They both squished in, making sure to completely soak themselves before jumping out for a big shake. Ammo dried off in the sun by racing around with Ayla, Bella and Domino.

Lexie is such a cutie! She is really starting to come out of her shell today, now that she's had a chance to settle in. The morning began with a walk alongside her energetic pal Bailey and the girls kept up a quick pace while they were darting around the trail. Lexie had a great time exploring in the grass - most of the walk was spent with her nose to the ground. She had no problem snuggling up in her bed for a brief nap afterwards. When it was time for groups, Lexie was ready and waiting at her kennel door. She followed her friends outside and immediately trotted over to the grassy yard where there was plenty for her to sniff. Once Lexie had checked out the play structure, she moved along to the pool to test the water...apparently it wasn't to her liking as she hurried away to find some sunshine to bask in. Lexie hopped up onto the picnic table where she had a better view of the yard. I went over to sit with her and she wasted no time climbing into my lap, eager for cuddles! Lexie certainly loves to have her back scratched and was dancing all over the place while I pet her. We were soon joined by little Abby who gave Lexie a friendly lick on the nose and sat around to keep her company. The two of them eventually wandered off together, when suddenly Amber came racing around the corner! Abby took off after her and Lexie got caught up in the excitement, flying after them as well. She preferred to stay on the sidelines while they were playing, but had a great time chasing around after them. To finish things off, Lexie trotted back to me to say hello and get some more snuggles.
Lexie and I headed up to reception for her extra attention today. She was very eager to get up front and could hardly wait for me to open the door! For the most part, Lexie was happy to just cuddle with me on one of the chairs. She also showed off how well she could sit and lay down for some treats. After that, we headed outside for a short stroll and Lexie had lots of fun exploring!

Amber is having so much fun with all of her friends! Today she joined Domino and Maya for their walk, and right away she was bouncing along at their side, ready to play. The three of them wandered along with their noses to the ground until suddenly Domino raced over to pounce on Amber. She happily play-bowed and went racing after him. The leashes were soon tangled and we had to take a quick break while I sorted everyone out, Amber doing her best to lick my face while I did so. For groups, she headed outside with the smaller dogs as she seems to be most comfortable with them. Right away Amber was at my side, making an effort to sit down and show me her manners even though she was buzzing with excitement! After a scratch behind the ears, Amber ran off to play with some of her friends. She got distracted by the pool and ended up standing with her front feet in the water, splashing around with her nose. This caught the attention of Bailey, who raced over to see what was going on. The two girls gave each other a look and then took off across the yard together. Their friends Abby and Pippin soon joined in also. Amber was racing in circles trying to keep up with the little dogs that were darting all over the place. Finally the dogs settled down again and Amber trotted over for a snuggle while she caught her breath.

Maggie had such a lovely day today! She was so excited to go out this morning and greeted me with a wagging tail and a happy look on her face. She is a very good girl and sat patiently until I opened the kennel door and then she was the first one out in the yard. She enjoyed a leisurely stroll through the grass and sniffed around in all the morning dew. Then, she headed out on a walk with her very excited pal Harvey. Before getting going they pranced around in the grass together for a bit. Maggie was very content to trot along behind Harvey and check out all the different sounds and smells on the trail. This afternoon during outdoor playtime she hung around with her buddy Colin. The two of them are great friends! Both are very friendly but like to hang back a bit and observe all the action from a distance, so the two of them relaxed in the shade together. Then they decided to wander out onto the grass, and Maggie came over to visit me where I was sitting on the picnic table and I gave her a big scratch behind the ear. Then she got a little more adventurous and went to check out the swimming pool with Colin. She was hesitant at first but after dipping one of her paws in, she jumped right in! She is so sweet, and is such a good girl! She’s been getting along wonderfully with all the other dogs, and is such so much fun to have around.

April had a great time today! She was very excited to get outside this morning and trotted around the yard for a few minutes before settling down a bit and exploring around the fence. She also had so much fun during her walk! At first she was taking her time and sniffing along the trail but before I knew it she was up ahead, happily leading the way. This afternoon, she was in a very cuddly mood, and came over to where I was sitting at the picnic table to get a long pet or a scratch behind the ear. Then, she explored the yard a bit more, and had a good time playing chase with Cabot and Tupper. She was a bit timid at first, but wanted to get right in on all the action after a little while! During extra attention we snuggled for a bit up at the front while. April was very happy to lounge around and get a long scratch behind the ear while I sat in the armchair. She is such a sweetie and always loves getting lots of cuddles! Then, we headed outside again for a little stroll around the front yard and she enjoyed having some time to herself to take her time and sniff around the long grass.

Colin is such a sweet boy and had such a nice time today with all his buddies! He greeted me this morning with a wagging tail and a big hello before running out into the yard to sniff around the grass and mingle with everyone. The spunky little Boston Terrier, Willis, and the excited girl, Haley, joined him on his walk. The three of them had a blast on the trail and were bouncing all over the place. Colin was very happy to trot alongside Haley while Willis led the way. Colin stopped every once and a while to have a sniff and sit and listen to all the exciting noises coming from the long grass. After he was done looking around, he would always run right back up beside Haley and we would all continue on our way. This afternoon during group playtime, he decided to hang back a bit at first and relaxed in the shade with his buddy Maggie. The two if them lounged around for a while before deciding to get up and explore the yard a bit more and say hello to all the other dogs. Colin came over to say hi while I sat at the picnic table before heading off to check out he pool with Maggie. He sure had a great time today!

Friday, August 25th, 2017

Domino is having the time of his life. The fun never stops when he is outdoors. He is always sure to become the best of friends with each and every dog. He’s basically in husky heaven, being a part of a group with 7 huskies! It’s no secret that huskies have their own way of playing, which makes Domino a very happy camper as he has 7 to play around with. He has been particularly fond of Justice ever since arrival, and today was no exception. I could barely capture the cuteness of Domino wiggling around Justice and Kyah on the picnic table. He had major zoomies trying to get their attention, and even weaved underneath Justice and jumped over Kyah. He loved these two so much. They put up with him for a bit, before he realized he was better off hanging out with the youngsters who could match his energy. When he spotted Harvey and Ayla running about with toys he knew that’s what he wanted to be doing. He quickly joined in on their fun and tried his hardest to steal the toys. When he came across the Jolly Ball, he was thrilled. To my surprise he picked it up and began running around with it. This got Harvey’s attention and the pair set off running. After numerous laps around the yard, Domino took the Jolly Ball to the pool. He cooled off in the fresh water while batting around the toy. After Harvey took the ball from him, Domino continued to wade around. Domino was sure to sneak in some love and affection too. He hopped up on my lap and covered me with his slobbery kisses as I pet his soft coat. He isn’t spoiled, at all J.

Lexie is such a sweet girl. She took her morning to settle into the yard and get to know her group mates. She was in no rush to get playing; rather she enjoyed sniffing and exploring a lot. Lexie hasn’t been here since we modified the yards, offering the dogs a lot more space. She was so intrigued by the whole new part of the yard that she did a double take before stepping over where the old fence was. She slowly made her way into the new area, using a lot of caution. Once she realized it was just another yard, her feet picked up and she began zipping around with her nose in the grass. Her tail was wagging so fast as she explored all over. After a whole lot of adventuring she made her way back to me for some cuddles. As she was climbing up on me, and kissing me, some of her group mates were drawn to her. Lexie hopped back to do some sniffing. She was happy to get to know some kind ladies in her playgroup. She did lots of laps around the gentle Amber, and did a bit of bouncing around with Abby and Bailey. She was mostly keen to hang around with Missy and relax in the shade. When it came time for Lexie’s special one on one time she was so excited to come up front and hang out. Again, she had to sniff all over before settling into my lap. Once she was on my lap she realized I had cookies and she sniffed them out with ease. After showing off some tricks she was happily rewarded. We enjoyed a nice stroll outdoors where I let her lead me around. She took me right through the middle of the field to a nice flower patch. We relaxed in the grass and cuddled before returning indoors for an afternoon nap.

I have found a new love in the sweetest girl, Amber. She is an absolute dream. Amber is sweet as can be in every way, and she isn’t afraid to prove it to you. She took her time heading into the back when she first arrived, however, the moment she stepped foot in the yard with her new friend Bailey for their walk, her tail didn’t stop wagging. Amber and Bailey had the best walk. They hopped along the trail, side by side, as if they’ve known one another for ages. Amber was eager to wander along with her nose to the grass, but everyone couple steps she would zoom back to my side looking for some love. Amber was eager to be loved in the yard too. It took her a bit of time to realize there were so many friendly dogs she could play with. Once she settled in with Missy, she totally relaxed and began to enjoy her freedom. Amber wasn’t too sure of the pool at first, but she slowly began to realize how much fun the water was on a warm day like today. When she was splashing about in the water she drew some attention to herself, which started a game of chase. She was happy to dart around with small friends Bailey, Abby and Missy. Amber was the leader of the group as they zipped around the yard. She continued to run, until she spotted me and chose to love me and kiss me. Amber spent her whole outdoor time bouncing back and forth between her friends, the pool, and myself. She had such a great first day, to say the least.

Bailey never stopped moving, from the moment she arrived to the moment it was time to go home. She loved walking with her new friend Amber, the golden retriever. Amber is a little timid so we thought for her first day it would be good to settle her in with the small dogs. Bailey was a perfect candidate for welcoming a new friend. Bailey instantly was attached to her and the walk was a huge success. They wiggled along the trail as if they’d known one another for ages. Bailey was quick to find her during their group outing too, however, a bone distracted Bailey and captured her attention for the first portion of outdoor time. Any time a dog came by Bailey, she would pickup her bone and bolt off. This started a huge chase, which of course, Bailey led. She wasn’t going to share her bone, no way! She found a good spot to chew it before she got distracted by a different toy and left the bone. Bailey then had a great time zipping and zooming around the yard with her friends Abby, Missy, and Amber. As Bailey was running, she was sure to hoot and holler at her friends. They continued to race around the yard with wagging tails. Bailey took a break by the pool to cool off, but quickly returned to the fun. The fun didn’t stop until it was time to go indoors, and I had to track her down and bring her in. When I put her in her kennel, she immediately crashed. She was quick to recharge her batteries and eager to get out for her next outing where she played and played all afternoon.

Colin was laying like a king on his big comfy bed when I went to greet him this morning! He had just come in from his first group outing and was lounging in preparation for his walk. He didn’t have to wait too long before I was back at his kennel door with a leash and his friends Maggie and Charlotte, who were bouncing with excitement and ready to get going. Colin enjoyed stretching his legs on this cooler, breezy day beside his pals on the trail. He met back up with Maggie, Charlotte and the rest of the group in the play yard, and was he ever ready to have some fun! Colin said hello to just about all the dogs before choosing his playmate for the day. He shuffled around a little bit with April the Shepherd mix, but she wasn’t totally in the mood to keep playing, so Colin continued on searching. He found his match when he approached Haley, a fellow shepherd mix, who barked excitedly at the idea of a wrestling match. The pair bounced around together until Maddy and Charlotte came running in and the two pairs quickly merged into one big game!

Maggie G is just the sweetest lady and I love spending time with her throughout the day. I was lucky enough to be paired up with Maggie for her morning trail walk as well as her group outings today! We marched long the path with two other dog friends, Haley and Colin the shepherd mixes. After our stroll, Maggie met back up with her walking buddies as well as the rest of her group-mates in the play yard. She said polite hellos to the other dogs before coming to sit by my side for some pets. We watched the rest of the group while I scratched Maggie’s ears and back and she seemed to enjoy just hanging out together. She went and moseyed around in the grass for a while with the wind in her afro, sniffing all of the crevices and around the rocks. She eventually came across the picnic table, where Haley was perched up on top. Maggie stood up on the side of the table and gave Haley a sniff, and then suddenly ran off across the yard to the play house with Haley following behind. Maggie spent some time sitting in the shade of the structure and accepting visitors into her little house.

April was up and waiting at her kennel door at walk time this morning! Now that she’s used to the routine she knows that I’ll be by with a leash in hand shortly after I first see her in the morning. She met two new friends out on the trail today, two Nova Scotia Duck Tolling retrievers named Cabot and Tupper, who were very keen to say hello to April and to get motoring down the path. April loves her walk, so these boys made a perfect match to keep up with her quick pace. After her walk, April joined me in the reception area for some one-on-one time, at which point she showed off some of her obedience moves! I showed April a little treat and she quickly sat up straight with her ears perked. April laid down a few times too for a couple more treats until they were all gone. April was content to just relax and be pet for the rest of our time together, before making our way back outside for another group outing. April happily roamed the yard and greeted her pals, simply enjoying this nice Friday!
Boris was so full of beans today, but that’s no surprise! He saw that Barb the puppy was out in his play group and just couldn’t contain his excitement and started to race around the yard in big circles with her. Tasha took her time to roam around and sniff in the grass for a while before joining her son in the play time. She briefly went to visit with her mama, Issy, who was doing her usual circular laps of the yard. Meanwhile, Boris was a busy bee, playing like crazy with Barb, Leah, Poppy, and Zen. Tasha came to join in the fun briefly near the end of our play time and let her wiggles out during a race around with her son.

Zen was quite eager to play today! She was full of spunk and approached her pal Boris the Husky to get the games going. Annie watched her sister as she followed the pack of playful dogs around the yard, but opted to stay on the sidelines and keep her eye on Zen. Boris was running around the yard at top speed with Zen, Barb, and Leah all chasing close behind. He turned around every now and then and started to paw and pounce on Zen, which had her play-bowing and running circles around Boris. It was great to see Zen in such a playful mood! Meanwhile, Annie had made her way back towards the doorstep to hang out and relax with Sky and Issy, two more Husky friends that are often part of Annie and Zen’s daycare group.

Thursday, August 24th, 2017

Domino has been so much fun to have with us today. He brings such a spark to his outdoor group. He could hardly wait to get outside to meet his friends. He wasn’t surprised to see numerous other huskies, rather he was beaming with excitement. He began zipping and zooming around prior to even sniffing his friends. Once he did a couple quick zoomie laps around the yard, he slowed down just enough to greet everyone. When he came across Justice, a light went off and he got extra excited. Domino and Justice were quite the pair. I don’t think I’ve ever seen two huskies play in the water as much as these two. Domino loves the water, he would retreat to the pool in between each and every game to cool off and dunk his face. Domino never stopped moving, whether it was with Justice or any of the other multiple huskies he had to chose from he was constantly zooming. One of my favourite moments was when Domino tried very hard to get Kyah off the picnic table to play with him. She can be a bit snobby to the younger huskies, which she was being to Domino. She sat with her nose in the wind as he zoomed and play bowed around the picnic table like an absolute maniac asking her to please play. After one hundred requests, Kyah finally gave in and the pair had a cute play. Domino was so excited to participate in not one, but two separate groups. He is such an easy-going guy, he has no problem making new friends and fitting in.

Spencer had such a fun filled day. He was the happiest boy in the world to see that he was in a group filled with mostly huskies. It’s no secret that Spencer absolutely loves the huskies, especially the ladies. He was so overwhelmed with joy that he didn’t know where to begin with his socialization. He zoomed from dog to dog saying his hellos. When Spencer came across Ayla, his eyes lit up. Ayla is only 8 months old, and she is beyond full of energy. Ayla could sense Spencer’s excitement and instantly began pouncing all over him. Spencer didn’t mind at all, and in return he hopped up on his hind legs and boxed with her. After some play fighting, Ayla set off looking for a chase. Spencer was keen to bolt after her, along with numerous other group mates. Spencer was running so fast with all his friends, I had a great time watching his ears flap in the wind. He continued to race around with Ayla, only to find himself right in the center of a big husky play pit. He was happy to goof around with Vega, Kyah, Domino, Justice and Georgia as well as daycare friends Ammo and Finnigan.  When it was finally time to come indoors, Spencer continued to race around in the far part of the yard with the young huskies. It took some convincing, and he finally came in. When he got into his kennel he immediately lay down and had a snooze, eagerly recharging his batteries for the next outing.

Tsavo was part of a very busy group today. All the action going on around her kept her very busy, as there was a lot of supervising and refereeing to do. Tsavo has always been a big fan of Vega the husky, and today there were other young huskies outdoors with her too. Tsavo was eager to meet all the huskies and get involved in the action. She found herself in the middle of a big play sessions and quickly aborted the mission, as their young energy was far too much for her. She happily supervised the tackling and racing around from the side lines, with perked ears and a wagging tail. When Vega broke off to come visit me, she spotted Tsavo not too far away and wandered over to check her out. Tsavo was very excited to have a moment along with Vega to play and frolic. The two ladies pawed back and forth at one another and played some fun “catch me if you can”, games. When Vega took off looking for a chase, Tsavo stuck back with me. Tsavo was happy to accept lots of pets while all her group mates continued to race and play.

Ammo is an absolute hoot, to say the least. He met his match made in heaven today, with young Georgia the husky mix. These two are both young, bold, and of spunk and positive energy. All these traits made for some very fun games. If the pair wasn’t sprinting full speed in loops around the yard, they were hanging out in the pool side by side. Not only did Ammo love chasing Georgia into the pool, he also loved trying to get her out of it. Ammo had a lot of fun pouncing in circles around the pool trying to claim his space in the water. After a lot of effort, and little luck, Ammo settled to share the space. And by sharing, I mean lying down and taking up the entire pool! Georgia finally took the hint and set off for some more racing and running. Next thing the pair knew, it wasn’t just the two of them, rather it was the whole group racing around. Ammo loved being part of such fun. He was racing around with Georgia, Spencer, and four other huskies; Justice, Domino, Ayla and Vega. The fun ever stopped in this group. My favourite moment was when Ammo decided to squeeze under the far too small picnic table. He got himself in a bit of a predicament, and quickly drew all the attention to himself by howling under the table. As all his husky friends howled back and raced around checking him out he was poking his head in and out like a turtle with a shell. With some help, he finally got out from the under the table and enjoyed racing and wrestling some more before finally coming indoors to recharge his batteries.

Finnigan had such a fabulous day. The Thursday crew is very different than his Monday, Wednesday, Friday friends and he took full advantage of this. Between all he new dogs, and the cooler weather, he was full of energy and never stopped. Lucky Finn got to participate in two different play groups, both of which had lots of friends to keep him busy. His first outing was with all the huskies and some additional daycare dogs. Finn was in love with all the huskies, especially the new ones like Ayla and Domino. He spent so much time flirting with the pair, he couldn’t decide who he liked more. When the both of them entered the pool, he got even more excited and hopped in with them. Before I could blink, Finnigan was fully submerged. All his friends had a close eye on him as he was blowing bubbles in the water. Without any notice, Finn hopped up and bolted out of the pool sending water everywhere. His fast actions sparked the interest of numerous dogs and within moments the whole team was zipping in circles around the yard. Finnigan loved being apart of all the action, however to no ones surprise he got distracted by a big red ball. Once he had the ball in his possession, all bets were off and that’s what he was focused on. Finn even lost the ball in a deep hole and whine and cried until I assisted him. He continued with his ball shenanigans with the small dogs, but was distracted when little Bruno asked to play. Finn had a lot off fun ripping and running around with Bruno and three other mates; Abby, Pepper and Oliva. Finn didn’t stop moving all morning. When it was time to come in he actually followed me without putting up a stink, and crashed on his comfy bed.

Maya and Rocky were happy to be here on such a lovely day. The fall like weather had the pair feeling extra spunky. Rocky was very excited to head out for his solo short walk this morning. He hopped over the gates like a pro and eagerly wiggled his way along the path. He loved wandering through the long grass, and stopping to sniff everything. At one point, Rocky came across a frog which startled him, however moments later he began rolling all over the spot that the frog was on. In the yard with some encouragement the duo made their way into the grassy yard. To my surprise Rocky was very keen to sniff and explore the far perimeter of the yard. Of course, Maya wandered out because Rocky was out and about. When Maya was moseying around she came across Chase and the pair began flirting. Maya had her tail wagging very fast while Chase wiggled around her. Rocky made his way over to his sister to see what was up, and Maya quickly turned around and began licking Rocky. The pair began to make their way back to the gravel yard where they rested for the remainder of outdoor time.

Pepper loved her newest group mate today, Abby. Abby is a spicy little Jack Russell whom adds bundles of fun to the small dog group. Abby got Olivia playing and running, which got Pepper so fired up! Pepper was ripping and racing around the yard with her tail wagging. She loved keeping up to Abby, and would pretend she wasn’t as fast as her just so that she could chase and not be in the lead. They continued to loop around the yard until Pepper made note of Bruno and Finnigan goofing around. Pepper broke off from the fast paced racing to investigate the boys and their shenanigans. Pepper was happy to participate in their funny games, which involved the big red ball. She raced after Finnigan and Bruno as fast as she could, and was soon accompanied by prior friends Abby and Olivia. Pepper had a lot of fun with all the dogs today, whether it was running around or play wrestling. Towards the end of her play time, she took a break to come visit me. Pepper gave me the biggest, friendliest smile as I scratched her back and rear end. She is always so happy to be loved and offer her love.
Pepper couldn't contain her excitement when it came to her extra attention time this afternoon. Once I got her on her leash she trotted up to the front and had me quickly following behind. Soon enough we were out the door and into the field, ready to take on our walk. Pepper led the way the entire time. It was almost as though she was zig-zagging through the yard while following a smell. We walked in the long grass, down by the creek, and then continued to follow the trail the whole way around. I let Pepper chose the pace so the two of us went for a little run at some points. I could tell that she just loved it because she'd look back at me with a huge smile on her face. Pepper joined me inside for a few treats before heading back to her kennel.

Maggie and April got to spend another fun-filled day together. After their respective morning trail-walks, they were eager to head back outside to keep each other company on this beautiful day! Excited to see who would be joining them, they both scanned the yard and saw daycare pal Percy whipping around the yard; they knew they would be in for a morning of entertainment! Maggie and April both share similar calm personalities and they certainly both love their cuddles. You could find them at either side of my feet patiently waiting for their usual head rubs! April eventually ventured off to meet up with new friend Collin; she sure did enjoy his company! Maggie stuck by my side for most of the morning, but when Leah entered the yard she quickly changed her mind and ran over to her for cuddles instead, what a turncoat! Percy had a very busy morning today, between saying hi to ladies April and Maggie and fetching every toy in the yard, needless to say he had a grand time! As usual, he was right in the centre of all the action and had a blast running around with Collin, Chigo and Charlotte. I can always count on Percy to get the party started and bring out the best in everyone!

April was a complete cuddle bug this afternoon. I brought her up to the front reception with me for her extra attention time once again and she was definitely ready to lounge. As soon as she got there, April found a perfect spot to lay down and waited for me to join her. The two of cuddled for a little bit as I rubbed her belly and ears. She especially enjoyed getting her ears rubbed and would just look up at me while smiling. Soon after, the two of us popped up off the ground for some treats. I got April to shake paw, sit and lay down for her treats and she showed me how much of a good girl she was.

Daycare friends Teddy and Cai enjoyed their morning trail walk together today; these two are the best of buds and always enjoy each other’s company. After stretching out their long legs down the trail, they were ready to continue the fun outside. Teddy immediately spotted Golden friend Charly and raced towards to her to join in the fun. He excitedly ran circles around her as she played a game of fetch. After Cai was done with his usual laps, he was ready to play and met up with Husky friend Domino. From that point on, these two were nearly inseparable and enjoyed a friendly wrestle on top of the picnic table. It wasn’t long before Teddy joined them and started an epic chase around the yard; Teddy feeds off everyone positive energy and had a blast!

Jemma had a fabulous morning trail walk joined by friends Charly and Spencer; shortly after arrival they headed out together and soaked up all of that morning sun, Jemma’s tail and ears were perked right up in excitement! A short while later, she joined Charly again in the yard and the two of them spent some time fetching toys together. Jemma couldn’t believe how many friends were out with her in the yard, she was waiting for the right moment to join in and play but until then, she kept close to my side and enjoyed some cuddles. Finally she was ready to play and joined in the fun with Teddy, Cai and Domino, they were the perfect playful bunch for her.

Issy and Kimi are the best of daycare friends and together they started their morning off with their favourite part of the day, their trail walk of course! After a brisk walk around the trail, it was now time to socialize with the rest of their four-legged friends out in the yard. These two girls are notorious to have their little noses glued to the ground in exploration. But Kimi had eyes on Domino, she excitedly watched him run around and play with Cai. For a moment there I thought she was going to run over and join in but as it turns out she much preferred to watch, entertaining nonetheless! Along Issy’s travels she came across young pup Ayla; Ayla was so excited to see Issy and jumped up to give her a few kisses to the face. Issy was very gentle with the young pup and couldn’t believe she was babysitting two pups in a row with having Barb around yesterday!

Wednesday, August 23rd, 2017

After two weeks away from daycare, Kane was the most excited I’ve ever seen him from the second we arrived this morning! He flew down the hallway so fast that he slid into the closed door before I had a chance to open it. When Chloe arrived a little while later, she ran up to Kane’s kennel and started to give him kisses through the door, while Kane wiggled his tail a mile a minute. These two peas in a pod were finally reunited when I approached with leashes in hand to go out for our walk on the trail. Chloe play-bowed to Kane almost the entire way around the field, but he told her to wait until they could run freely in the yard. When the time came, Kane and Chloe ran and ran around the yard so fast that I could hardly keep my eyes on them. After a few laps, Finnigan raced over to join in the fun and the three musketeers had a grand wrestling match. Finn soon left when he spotted an irresistible toy, but that was fine with Kane and Chloe, who took their match into the play structure where they wrestled and rolled on top of one another, having so much fun together.

Finnigan joined his good pal Oakley on the walking trail this morning, along with a smaller friend, Willis the Boston Terrier. Finnigan trotted along at his usual pace, while Oakley enjoyed a few good rolls in the dewy morning grass. Once her face was good and wet and her gentle leader full of grass, she went to the end of her leash to walk with Finnigan and Willis. After a snooze in their kennels, Finnigan and Oakley met back up in the yard with their daycare friends and with some of the Huskies. Vega was up on the picnic table and Oakley was saying hello to her, curious about her position above everyone on the table top. I patted the table and encouraged Oakley to give it a try, and she climbed right up to sit with Vega! Finnigan saw the silly girls sitting up high and went to check it out for himself. Oakley hopped down and Finnigan hopped up to give Vega a kiss on the face, which sent her running in the start of a big game of chase. Finnigan ran around the yard having a blast with his friends Vega, Chloe and Kane, while Oakley went over to say hello to Justice and get some pets from Alyssa.

Bella and Jake were happy to join their small dog friends in the yard after their morning walk with their pal Flora the Jack Russell. There were lots of different friends to greet in the play yard, and Jake went around to say hello to them all, while Bella went to explore in the grass on the other side of the fence. Jake came across a small friend that he met a couple of weeks ago, a Husky puppy that now goes by the name Leia! He was very curious about her and wanted to play with the silly little puppy. Jake pounced around with Leia and friends for a little while until Bella came back from her exploring to check in. Jake took a break from playing to go and hang out with his sister in the shade.

Pepper yawned and stretched her long legs when I opened her kennel first thing this morning. She was having a lovely snooze on her comfy bed but decided she should join her group for the first outing of the day. When she came back inside, Pepper was ready for her breakfast and another little snooze before heading out for her morning walk on the trail. Pepper was in the mood to hang out and enjoy the nice weather alongside her pals on this beautiful day! Pepper was very keen to spend more time outside this afternoon for her extra attention time, so we went for a stroll in the front field together. She pounced around in the long grass and enjoyed feeling the breeze in her hair. When we came back inside, Susan was in the reception area and Pepper was so excited to see her! Pepper was very happy to get lots of pets and back scratches from Susan until it was time to head back to her kennel.

Leia and her mom Aurora reconnected this morning as soon as she arrived! Aurora couldn’t wait to see her little baby, who’s growing like a weed! Aurora and Leia shared the big kennel all day, and they wrestled and rolled around together on the bed and all across their space. Leia had a full family reunion during her walk with both of her parents, Aurora and Justice! In the yard, Leia met quite a few different friends in her play group, including Jake the doodle and Olivia the Basset Hound, who she became friends with right off the bat. Leia spent most of her time playing with Olivia or with Bruno the French Bulldog, who both gave her a run for her money during their wrestling match!

Annie and Zen started their morning off with a beautiful trail walk along the trail with pal April. April is almost as big as the girls and the three of them were perfectly paired for their morning trot together! Today was the “spa” day for the girls and they were both treated individually with relaxing baths and loved all the individual attention they were getting. Zen was up first for her pampering and while Zen was getting her beauty treatment, Annie joined daycare pals Boris and Tasha for some fun outside. Annie absolutely adores the rambunctious Boris and the two of them had so much fun running and wrestling around the yard together. Zen would have her turn playing with Boris during their next rotation while Annie gets her turn in the salon!

Boris and Tasha joined staff pup Charly for their morning trot and the three of them had a blast zooming down the trail. They joined forces again a short while later in the yard for their morning play session. Boris and Tasha always bring such a fun and playful energy to their groups and today was no different. Today they played with Annie and of course little pup Barb. Boris was very gentle with Barb but still enjoyed his usual roughhousing with her! But of course she saved enough energy to play with one another; we all know how much Tasha loves to chase Boris around the yard!

Issy enjoyed a late morning walk with her daughter Isis, and it was adorable to watch the two of them excitedly pace down the trail side by side. You can definitely tell they’re related! Isis kept Issy company in the kitchen, her favourite spot to lounge out during the day! Needless to say, Issy got her fair share of cuddles and attention today and her and Isis even got to share a special treat. Everyone was thrilled to meet Issy out in the yard, Annie, Boris and Tasha ran over to say hello. Issy loved saying hello to little Barb and was very patient with the young pup.

April was very excited to meet sisters Annie and Zen this morning and even more excited that she was joining them on their morning trot along the back trail. April absolutely adores her morning walks and definitely enjoyed the company this morning. April was all smiles out in the yard today and spent some time hanging out with little Willis and Maggie. Although an unlikely pair, April and Willis have formed a strong bond over the past week and really enjoy their time together. Willis just needs a little boost today hello and jumped up on the picnic table so that he could be at eye level with April! April enjoyed a nice relaxing one on one time with me today. She sprawled out on the cool floor while I gave her a nice brushing and worked on a few of her tangles. After a little more brushing we clipped a leash on and headed outside. We strolled through the grass enjoying the nice breeze and sunny day.

Maggie was very eager to go on her walk this morning and excitedly greeted me at the front on her kennel bright and early. She could hardly contain her excitement when I let her out and was smiling from ear to ear. This little lady always brings a smile to my face and gives me a good laugh. She is full of so much personality and is such a pleasure to be around. I think the rest of our four-legged guests would agree since she always ends up being the centre of everyone’s attention. Maggie exudes such a calm energy and today she plunked herself down in the grass and happily watched the others run circles around her as her fro flapped in the wind.

Tuesday, August 22nd, 2017

Maggie didn’t let the rain slow her down today! She waltzed out into the yard before all of her friends and went about her business as if she didn’t even notice the weather. She said hello to everyone and moseyed around in the grass to sniff and explore. Maggie had a few friends join her while she was roaming, including Barb the Lab puppy, Percy the Aussie, and April the Shepherd. She said polite hellos to everyone and continued on her way with her nose glued to the grass. Maggie came to visit me periodically throughout her group outings, and snuggled close by my side where she was in perfect petting distance. Maggie was thrilled to spend some time in the indoor playroom with a smaller group of friends this afternoon to change things up a little bit and to stay dry.

Percy had so much fun today, despite the crummy weather! We all know that Percy doesn’t mind a bit of water, and he was thrilled to be out in the yard with his buddies. Percy played with a few different toys throughout the day, his first favourite being the pink mesh ball which he carried around wherever he went. Later on in a different group outing, Percy was focused on the red ball, which I threw for him over and over again. The rain had since stopped falling, so Percy decided to go for a splash in the pool with his ball. He ran into Maddy and Barb at the pool, and both girls were determined to have a turn with the red ball. Maddy managed to get her paws on it and the three musketeers spent the rest of their group time chasing one another and the ball.

April had another relaxed day at Tails & Trails! She wasn’t so sure about going outside in the rain but after a minute of convincing, she trotted out to join her friends in the yard. April wandered back and forth between the doorstep and the outdoor kennel, both of which offered shelter from the drizzle. She was much happier later on in the day when the rain passed and she ventured out into the grass to watch her buddies as they roamed around. April hung around while some of the others played, but enjoyed the company of some quieter pals such as Maggie and Tassie. April happily followed me up to the reception area this afternoon to hang out and spend some one-on-one time together. She and little Julie got acquainted and then shared a yummy treat before settling down for some pets and cuddles.

Miss Issy was feeling adventurous today! After spending some time hanging out with fellow Husky, Sky in the kitchen, Issy went for a roam around the yard on this rainy morning. She didn’t let the rain slow her down as she followed her nose out into the grass. When we came back out later in the day the rain had subsided and Issy trotted right out to watch her Husky friends as they played goofy games together. Issy even climbed up on the picnic table with her daughter Isis to get a better view of the shenanigans! It’s always lovely to have Issy hanging out in the kitchen with us during our lunch break, and today she provided some much needed comfort to our foster Husky Moka, who was feeling scared from the storm.

Maya and Rocky were excited to see so many playful friends join them in their group for the day. Rocky was thoroughly entertained all morning long from his usual spot by the door as he watched the rambunctious few play in the adjacent yard. But he had lots of company today whether he wanted it or not, daycare pal Miko and Spaniel sisters Penny and Pippin gave him lots of friendly kisses. He was trying to see where sister Maya was through all the moving bodies but Maya was on the move! She was excited to see friend Pepper again and made a few laps before returning back to her brother and Rocky was pleased to have her back, especially since she was good shelter from the rain as she hovered over him!

Bailey had a blast playing today with fellow beagle friend Olivia. These two were nearly inseparable for most of the day and had a blast chasing one another across the yard! They were having so much wrestling and jumping up on their hind legs to dance that they got the attention of friends Elo and Bruno. Bailey was in the lead with Olivia and friends frantically chasing behind her.

Pepper never misses out on the opportunity to run and although reserved at first, once she saw Bailey and friends whipping around the yard, she couldn’t help but join in! I haven’t seen Pepper run that fast in a long time and she had a blast with her new little friends. Pepper finally made her way over to me to take a quick rest. She was huffing and puffing in excitement from running around so much and was happy to get a back scratch as she caught her breath. But it wasn’t long before she was off again chasing after Bailey! Pepper had her pick of any toy she could have ever imagined during her extra attention session. She was curious about the toys, but even more excited to play a game of tug with Tiffani. Pepper definitely loves her human interaction! She eventually grew tired of the toys and we decided to go out for a walk since the rain finally let up. She was very happy to get another one-on-one walk and together we adventured out into the field.

Merlin was all smiles today as he entered the yard and met up with his favourite four-legged friends. He started running around like he was on a mission and excited to have the opportunity to roam around the yard for most of the morning. He eventually met up with good friend Oscar and from there they were inseparable. He even jumped up on the picnic table to join Oscar for a photo-opp.

Miko wasn’t far trailing behind Merlin as he made his rounds of the yard. Miko was just as excited to bury his little nose to the ground to pick up off the scents from the group before. I always love to watch Miko’s little ears fly in the wind as he races across the yard. Like the sweet boy he is, he made sure to run over and say hello to fellow daycare friends Maya and Rocky, but he’s no stranger to play either. He enjoyed racing behind Bailey and friends as they made their way across the yard.

Mack had a fabulous day spent with us today; he wasn’t going to let the rain ruin his fun! He excitedly followed me out into the agility yard for his first outing shortly after arrival. He had his curious little nose glued to the ground in exploration and made sure to sniff out every inch of that yard. Once he was done his rounds, he was ready for some attention and ran over to take a seat by my side. He graciously accepted a few head rubs and posed like the handsome boy he is for the camera!

Please note that the photos from today are out of order. Please scroll through so you don't miss any shots of your furry friends!!

Monday, August 21st, 2017

Annie and Zen were eager to get moving on this hot and sunny Monday morning! They were accompanied by fellow Monday-Wednesday-Friday daycare buddy, Finnigan, who was equally as excited to take advantage of the lovely day. Annie and Zen were happier still for a cool drink of water upon returning to their kennel after their trot on the trail. The girls took part in a big group of different types of dogs today, including some Huskies, a Golden Retriever, a couple of smaller mixed breeds and a Lab puppy. Annie and Zen were content to watch all of the other dogs as they sniffed, played and splashed in the pool, although they did follow their busy noses to all different nooks and crannies around the yard.

After his routine walk with gentle giant sisters Annie and Zen, Finnigan was ready to run around and burn some energy during his playgroups! Finnigan spent some time playing with one of his favourite toys, the hollow pink ball, until I managed to get my hands on it, starting up a game of tug of war! Finnigan is a tough competitor when it comes to tug, and he of course won the round. Next, he went and tossed around a different toy, a green rubber bone shaped toy, until he noticed a little chase happening between Elo, Bailey and Pepper that looked like too much fun to pass up. Finnigan ran until he needed to slow down and cool off, which he did by splashing around in the pool and eventually laying down in the water completely! When Finnigan emerged from the pool, he was soaking wet and full of beans all over again!

Bailey was ready to play from the minute she got here this morning! She brought her Greenie to her kennel and had her little snack before going out to play with some new friends. She was pleased to meet a lovely girl named Scout later in the morning for her walk time. Although she loves the trail, Bailey’s favourite part of the day is certainly play time. I knew that she and Elo the Finnish Lapphund would be a perfect match from the moment they met, and I was correct! Bailey grabbed a toy and ran around the yard with Elo following close behind. They sprinted back and forth from one end of the yard to the other, taking a quick detour to the pool to splash around. She ran into Finnigan, who was also enjoying the pool, and she joined him in an attempt to pick up a Frisbee that was sitting at the bottom. It was quite funny when Bailey plunged her whole face in the water!

It was great to see Pepper’s sweet face when she arrived this morning! After a little bit of coaxing and some head scratches, Pepper was ready to come out into the yard to meet her group, which consisted of plenty of small dog friends, some calm and relaxed, some ready to play. Pepper took a minute to watch everyone and sniff around before she decided whether or not to play. She and I watched Bailey the Beagle, Finnigan the doodle and Elo the Lapphund as they ran around the yard together, until Pepper bolted off to race around with them. She had a great time running and chasing her new friends. Pepper and I went out to the lounge building in between her playgroups this afternoon. She explored around the room and made sure to sniff every inch. Once she finished, Pepper came to spend some time with me on the comfy couch. I offered her a couple of toys, including a stuffed monkey and a ball, but she was in the mood to relax! I know how much this girl loves to be pet, so we simply hung out together while I gave her a good back scratch.

Sam and I had a blast together out in the yard today. She had just come back from her morning trot with Berner brothers Dragon and Gryphon, but saved just enough energy to play an epic game of fetch. Sam is infamous for her wild leaps in the air and today was no different; she loves to play her little heart out every time she steps out in that yard. However, she was especially excited to join me by my side for a few cuddles, she loved that all the attention was on her today! Sam knew exactly what time it was when I approached her kennel door this afternoon, her extra attention session! She was pleasantly surprised to find a kong filled with treats and peanut butter for her to enjoy! Once she was done her treat, she was ready to play and found her head stuffed in the toy bin to see what treasures she could find. She excitedly pulled out the pink bunny and happily flung it around in the air. Needless to say, it was another fun filled extra attention session for Sam!

Maggie spent her morning with Chigo and Maddy; the three of them excitedly galloped down the trail on this beautiful day. Maggie was all smiles and her 'fro was waving in the wind. It was an exciting morning for Maggie spent with a big and rambunctious crowd. Like April, she is usually one to stay close to my side but today there was too much to see and do and Maggie was on the move. Good pal Maddy even encouraged her to a wrestle and Maggie thought that was fantastic. But of course I had to get a few photos of Maggie sitting with her impressively fluffy face; she definitely wins the award for best haircut and we just love her so much!

April was excited to join resident Huskies Magic and Justice for her morning walk along the trail. This is April’s favourite part of the day by far and leisurely strolled that trail all morning long. Happy to see her favorite four-legged friends out in the yard, April was definitely a hit amongst the others and she enjoyed following Maggie around the yard. Although April loves her human companionship, she was very busy today running around with her friends but made sure to make a pit stop for a few extra head rubs when she spotted me in the yard. April absolutely adores her extra attention sessions, she's a sucker for cuddles and always enjoys her time spent with our staff. There was lots to see and do up in the front reception area where we hung out together for the afternoon. She enjoyed a peanut butter Kong, but most of all enjoyed her time spent lounging by my feet with all the back scratches she could ever ask for. April makes the best company and I think she couldn't agree more!

Sunday, August 20th, 2017

Sam had another day filled with excitement here at Tails & Trails. She woke up in the best mood and bounced out of her kennel and flew towards me while giving me plenty of kisses. Things were no different during her next group outing. This time she sprinted out the door and waited for me outside. As soon as I stepped into the yard, Sam was headed my way with great speed. She hopped her front paws up onto me and danced with me around the yard while giving me a few kisses of course. Soon enough she was flying around all three yards at top speed. She made sure to do at least two laps of each yard before moving onto the next. Once she was done, Sam stopped and stared at me as if she was trying to get me to join her, silly girl. I jumped towards her and Sam was off doing laps once more. This continued for a little while until she decided it was time to play in the pool. Sam hopped all four paws in and started splashing around in the water. I went and turned on the hose to see if she'd like being sprayed with it and sure enough she did. Sam kept trying to bite the water as it was coming out of the hose and would occasionally jump up to swat the water with her paws. Once Sam decided our water time was over, we headed into the grass to play with a few toys. Sam picked up a red toy bone which was her new favorite. I got her to play a few games with the bone. First off I got Sam to jump up as high as she could in order to catch the bone. After a few jumps, I brought the bone over to the play structure to hide with it. She found me right away as she peeked through one of the peep holes of the play structure. Sam ended off her group time by chewing on the bone. Sam and I went up to the playroom for her extra attention today. She was eager to get the games started and wasted no time poking her nose into the toy bin. I helped her out by digging up some ones that I knew she would like, and soon Sam had picked a fun rubber toy. She had a blast chasing it around the room, and even flinging it around herself sometimes! Once Sam was out of breath, she settled down for a few cuddles before we went back to her kennel.

Millie seemed to be practically buzzing with excitement as soon as I came to collect her for walks. She gave a happy little growl and bounced out of her kennel, ready to get going. Oliver and Tassie were joining us for the walk, so Millie took a minute to say hello to both of them before she decided she couldn’t wait any longer and went racing ahead. Millie darted around and did her best to make sure she didn’t miss anything while she explored the trail. If anything caught her interest, she would slam on the brakes and shove her nose into the grass before bounding along in search of something new. Oliver and Tassie ended up leading the way back to the building while Millie trotted around behind them, too distracted by her nose to pay attention to where she was going. When it was group time, Millie eagerly joined her friends in the yard. She politely said hello to some of the dogs, although Millie wasn’t quite sure about playing with anybody so she wandered off to sniff around the yard instead. Of course she made time to visit me – Millie made plenty of pit stops to get a back rub or ear scratch. She was also more than happy to wrestle with a rubber bone while I held it for her. We finished things off with a stop by the pool, where Millie hopped in, took a drink and hopped right back out. Millie always brings some energy to each and every day, especially when it comes time for her extra attention. Millie raced me up to the front for her extra attention. Once she got up there, she immediately hopped up onto one of the big comfy chairs and started to explore for treats. Having no luck on that chair, she jumped onto the desk beside it and let her nose lead the way. However, I was the one who actually had the treats. Once Millie realized that, she was right by my side and ready to have some. I had Millie hopping up for treats, sitting, laying down and even jumping onto one of the chairs and getting her to stay there until I said to come off. She was such a good girl for all of the tricks. Once we were done with the treats, Millie and I brought out some toys for her to play with. She dug around the toy basket for a bit and pulled out a pink ball. The two of us played tug and fetch with the ball before she moved on to a stuffed lion. Millie swung the lion all around and would shake her head all over the place with it in her mouth. It was quite funny to watch.

Poppy had a wonderful day. She started things off with a walk alongside April and Aurora, who were both eager to say hello to their new friend. After everybody had sniffed each other, the three of them set out for the trail. Poppy was zigzagging all over the place and trying to see everything at once. The walk worked off some of Poppy’s energy and once it was time for group rotations, she was looking more relaxed and ready to join the dogs in the yard. She wandered between the others to check things out, going back and forth from dogs to rocks to the picnic table. Eventually Poppy and her nose had covered most of the yard, so she went to spend more time with her friends. Millie and Haley were drawing lots of attention, as the two of them were bouncing around and Poppy decided to make that her first stop. They had hopped up on the picnic table and she stretched up to give Haley a sniff. Soon Haley had raced off after a toy, and Poppy went leaping after her. I played fetch with them for a while, although Haley was the only one focused on the toy and Poppy seemed to be having more fun just running back and forth. Eventually they both settled down and went to find some shade to lounge in.

Maggie seemed to be looking forward to her walk this morning as she was dancing from foot to foot in her kennel when she saw me coming with leashes. We joined her friends Chigo and Maddy before heading outside. Maggie walked around to greet both of the other dogs, giving Maddy a good sniff before the girls jogged side by side to the trail. Maggie was happy to just wander around and enjoy the warm breeze, occasionally poking her nose into the grass to see if anything caught her interest. After her walk and a short rest, it was time for groups. She trotted out the door with her nose up to sniff the air. For the first few minutes, Maggie divided her time between saying hello to her group mates and exploring the yard. She ended up over by the picnic table, enjoying some peace and quiet while she sniffed around. It didn’t take long before Maggie had bounced over to me and sat down on my toes until I went to pet her, and then she quickly flopped over for a belly rub. We had a nice long cuddle before Maggie decided she’d had her fill of attention and went over to check out the pool. Although it wasn’t sunny it was still quite warm and Maggie was more than happy to cool off by splashing around in the water!

April is such a lovely girl! She was ready for her walk with Poppy and Aurora this morning…although she seemed more focused on getting some snuggles beforehand. After making it to the trail, April seemed to find her energy and happily bounded ahead to explore the grass. She poked her nose just about everywhere, though she never lingered too long in one spot, as there was plenty more to smell. On the homestretch April took the lead and seemed ready for a nap when she got back to her kennel. When it was her turn in the yard, she wandered out the door and kindly said hello to each dog that wandered her way. April explored the yard a bit though she seemed content to lounge around in the shade near the building. After she had enjoyed a few cuddles and politely posed for the camera, April decided she was ready to check out the grass yard. She followed me through the gate and was soon sniffing away. Her nose took her all over the place before she finally ended up at my side again, searching for some more attention. Since the sun was out and it was getting quite warm, I took April over to the pool and encouraged her to put her feet in. She stuck out one leg and pawed at the water, taking her time but eventually getting both of her front feet in there. April had a quick drink before the pool got too busy for her and she headed out to explore again.

April joined me outside for another wonderful extra attention time. She was already waiting by her kennel door when I went to get her; it was almost as though she knew it was time to go. April led the way down the hallway and walked straight outside and into the grass. Her nose led us around the front field for a little while and it definitely kept her busy. April was zig-zagging back and forth all through the field. Eventually I saw what she was sniffing, a little frog. We followed the frog for another few seconds before heading back to the shade. April laid down as soon as we got there and simply stayed there with a huge smile on her face. She then rolled over and patiently waited for me to give her a long belly rub. After the belly rub, April and I headed back inside so that she could show off her tricks in hopes of getting a few treats. April did an excellent job of showing me her sits, downs, and even shake a paw. What a smart girl.
