Finnigan had the most eventful day of all time and that was
because he was joined by Kane who, believe it or not, is even sillier and more playful than Finnigan himself! After a morning trail walk, Finnigan was ready
to see who was going to join him out in the yard today and lucky for him he was
joined by red-headed huskies and ecstatic Kane. Kane had so much energy that he
literally flew through the air as the rest of the bunch tried to keep up with
him including Finn. It was the bloodhound rescues who were most intrigued by
Kane however and they kept him busy all morning long as Kane tried to dodge and
weave in between them. Finn finally got tired of trying to keep up with the
agile Kane and sniffed out the yard for some toys to play with. Well first
thing he found was a nice big stick and he decided to take a seat in the snow
and chew away; but he had competition today from the red heads and therefore
his infamous growl came out every time they got close warning them to back
away. That didn’t stop puppy Vega from jumping right in and stealing it away
from him and this led to the greatest chase across the yard as Finn tried to
steal it back from her. All the while Kane was still in the background trying
to outrun the hounds with best pal Muggins by his side. These two boys just couldn’t
get enough time outside, so they ran some more energy out over lunch and this
time they were joined by Charly who is just as toy obsessed as Finnigan so they
definitely got to run some of that much-needed energy out together. When I went
to go back to bring them inside, the four of them all had their noses in the
hole they must have dug up together and I think I know who the main culprit
was, Vega who had mud covering her whole snout! They all looked up at me with
their guilty faces when I called them over; what a bunch!
Much like the big dog group before, the small dogs were full
of great energy this morning and they even had little Julie running laps around
the yard; it’s a good thing she had her winter tires on! I was so pleased to
see little Bella and Jake bright and early this morning and they were excited
to be back and interested to see all their pals again. Jake saw a familiar face
out in the yard this morning and it was the sweet face of Maya, sister of
little Rocky. I saw Maya eyeing up Jake from across the yard and I knew she was
waiting for the right moment to jump in and play. As Jake eventually got
closer, Maya jumped down into a play bow right in front of him and this
encouraged Jake to do the same and their little bums wiggled as they waited to
see who would make the first pounce! Jake made the first move and the two of
them ran into the far yard with Resa and Max hot on their trail! They had to
make sure not to run into Julie who was speeding across the yard in her wheel
chair trying to catch up to the others like the little land shark she is! Rocky
took his usual spot by the door but I could see they he made his way a little
further into the yard to be sure he found the spot with the most sun shining.
He must have been intrigued by all the noise in the yard however because I
could see him coming over occasionally to see what his silly sister was up too.
Luckily for him, Bella kept him company most of the morning and enjoyed sun
bathing in this rare sun we had shining down on us this morning. She as well
was curious about all the commotion in the far yard and she would come running
over barking away acting as referee every time she thought things were getting
out of hand; the fun police we like to call her!
Max and Sadie have been enjoying their boarding visit with
us; although they are usually only here for daycare they were thrilled to be
greeted by us morning and night and gives them that much more time to wrestle
together in the yard. Wrestling in the yard is their favourite thing to do and
they just can’t seem to keep their paws off one another. Its so funny to see
them cuddle and rest together in their kennel but the moment they step outside it’s
only playtime and the two of them play until they are literally out of breath.
So much so that Sadie often finds herself taking a rest in the snow as she
tries to catch her breath! Max doesn’t often give her much time though, he is
ready to wrestle at all times of the day and you can see how thankful he is to
have a sister who can keep up with him. I’m surprised Max hasn’t picked up on
Sadie’s tricks, he is always such an obedient boy when its time to go back in
and always gets an extra hug and kiss from us as he obediently enters his
kennel. Sadie on the other hand couldn’t be bothered to follow the rules and
rolls around in the snow in protest! I think she likes all of the extra
attention she gets when she does this so why would she ever stop!
Kaos started her outdoor time off a bit
skeptical of her outgoing playmates. After rolling on to her back, allowing
everyone to sniff her over and show them that she meant no hard,, Kaos came out
of her shell. She was then ready to get going with her friends looking for some
games to begin. To her surprise, Merida wanted to play around with her. Merida
danced in circles around Kaos, leading to some self-induced zoomies looking for
Kaos to bolt after her. Without any hesitation Kaos picked up the pace and
zoomed across the yard after her. This lead the other entire group mates to
join in on the fun. Justice, Bella, and Kyah were hot on Kaos’s heels looking
to catch up to the speedy girl. Kaos was impressively fast bolting around the
yard dodging all the obstacles and other dogs with ease. After some very fun
run and chase, Koas took a break by my side. She happily accepted pets and
cuddles with company of her quieter group mate Oakley. After some love and
attention Kaos slowly made her way into the tunnel to do some exploring. She
was pleased to be greeted by Merida when she came out the other end, followed
by a nice pounce from Justice. This led Kaos into another round of fun and
games. Her positive energy and playful vibes continued for the remainder of
playtime.
Bella greeted me this morning by
bolting down the hall and flying into my arms. She was so happy to see me she
couldn’t resist jumping onto me and giving me loads of kisses. With a little
convincing, she turned around and listed to Kinsey and went down another hall
into her kennel. Bella was just as excited to see me later on when I let her
out for her group time. To no one’s surprise, she met up with Justice right off
the bat. The duo picked up right where they left off last week and instantly
got to some boxing and wrestling. The strength these two share is over powering
to some of their other group mates, but perfect for them and the other huskies.
They had loads of fun batting one another around and necking with each other.
Their intense play soon ended when Justice tucked his bum and began to zoom off
across the yard. Bella was hot on his heels, followed by Kyah. These three
powered around the yard at full speeds, soon joining in on Merida and Koas’
chase. These five then looped around the yard over and over with much speed and
intensity. They weren’t afraid to bolt through the tunnel as well as launch
themselves over boulders to get to the front of the pack. Bella decided to take
a breather from the group by parking herself by my side looking for some
cuddles. She was happy to receive loads of pats and rubs before taking of for
yet another chase around the yard. She continued these shenanigans with her
boyfriend until it was time to head indoors.
Oakley is quickly becoming one of my
favourite dogs, as she brings out the funniest side in my own dog, Kyah. These
two are such an odd pair but their love for one another never seems to die.
Oakley was quick to find Kyah when she got out in the yard and the pair parked
themselves right at my feet. Kyah and Oakley tend to battle for my love by
alternating nudging at my free hand with their muzzles. I put down the camera
for a while to give them equal love and attention. After they were happy with
the attention they received they both set off to sniff and explore. Kyah got
very comfortable on the tunnel while Oakley continued to investigate the yard.
As she was sniffing she came across Kyah lounging across the tunnel and
politely asked her to give her some attention. She started off by nudging her
with her nose, and then pawing at her. Neither of these tactics worked so she
moved on to fully pouncing on Kyah. Kyah took this as an invite to play and
began howling and pawing at Oakley. The ladies were so silly, batting at one
another and chatting away while doing so. All this commotion really drew the
attention of group mates Justice and Bella. Soon the famous duo turned into a
very playful foursome. Oakley and Kyah were very happy to prance around with
Justice and Bella until Nicki came in the yard, which distracted Oakley from
playing. Oakley couldn’t have been happier to finish her time off in the yard
sitting at Nicki’s feet accepting oodles of pets and cuddles.
Titan and George weren’t as interested
in running and playing today as they have been the last couple of days. The
boys were much more focused on the fact that they had access to all three
yards, providing them endless space to sniff and explore. The moment they got
outdoors they stuck their nose to the ground and began adventuring around. Both
George and Titan were set on investigating every last square inch of our yards
prior to even acknowledging my existence in the yard. After loads of exploring,
George finally came wandering over to me with his famous smile on his face
looking for a treat and some attention. He was thrilled to receive both, after
trying to pounce all over me. I knelt down to his level and gave him lots of
kisses and cuddles followed by a nice cookie. Titan picked up on the snack his
brother smuggled from across the yard and came dashing over. Of course, Titan
too got a nice cookie followed by some cuddles as well. The boys then hung out
by my side, waiting to see if I may deliver them another goodie. To their
disappointment, they only got one more treat outside. They were ok with this as
they decided it was fine to part ways from me to return back to the perimeter
of the yard to sniff and explore until it was time to head back indoors.
Rupert and I had so much fun in the
yard today. He couldn’t have been happier to be accompanied by some very busy
friends. His group mates were thrilled to have a new addition to the group who
was a very speedy Weimaraner. He kept Rupert’s group mates occupied leaving
Rupert with a ball and me to play fetch. Rupert followed me around for a while
until I uncovered this ball. When fetch got going he had the biggest smiles on
his face and was ready to run. Paisley gave Rupert a run for his money, keeping
him alert and ready to compete for the ball. These two made for some great
friendly competition. Paisley and Rupert loved racing across the yard at full
speed and then sliding through the powdery snow to capture their red ball. They
kept at this for ages until my arm was sore from launching it. I then began to
kick the ball, which was even more fun since it would bounce, left and right,
sending them on a wild goose chase to capture it. Fetch kept Rupert busy for
his entire playgroup. He in the snow when I asked him to come indoors with the
ball at his feet, waiting for me to throw it once more. He was happy when I
gave in and played a couple more rounds. He then co-operated very nicely,
running indoors and right onto his comfy cot.
