Boston and I started our morning off with wonderful one on
one time up front. He is very appreciative of his extra attention as it helps
him settle in. Boston loved sniffing around up front, greeting each staff member
with a wiggling bum. He was thrilled when I pulled out some cookies and asked
him to show off his commands for rewards. He is great at tossing his paw at me
as well as sitting and lying down. After some games, Boston was happy to sit by
my side and be pet and cuddled. He even offered me some kisses. In the yard, he
was absolutely enthralled with the deep, powdery snow. He came zooming around
the corner with his ears pinned back, flying through the snow, sending powder
shooting out from behind him. He did loads of zooms around the yard with the
biggest smile on his face. His friends quickly picked up on his fast-paced
running and his solo zoomies soon became a giant chase around the yard. Boston
was thrilled to be the life of the party. Soon after this, Boston met up with a
lovely Siberian husky named Kyah. He did some flirting, by kissing her ears and
play bowing all around her before she gave in to his request to play. The pair
boxed and wrestled around in the snow, launching snow all over, even at me. It
was great fun to watch and great fun for Boston to partake in. After loads of
fun and games Boston decided to take a break. He was happy to lie in the snow
and supervise his friends goof around.
It's been a while since I have seen Hobart and I was pleased
to see his happy face looking at me when I walked down his hall this morning.
His tail began to wag when I said his name so I had to go in his kennel and
give him a cuddle. He was very pleased about this. We enjoyed a walk along the
back trail with lab friend Muggins. The deep snow was no match for Hobarts
determination. He plowed a great path for me to follow, stopping to stick his
face deep in the powder whenever a good smell came about. In the yard Hobart
wasn’t too sure of the yard covered in over a foot of snow at first. He slowly
made his way around the corner, peaking at all the dogs bolting around in the
powder. Boston spotted him slowly approaching the yard and bolted over to say
hello. Bostons warm welcome encouraged Hobart to come into the yard with his
friends. Soon, group mates Sophie and Casey were all over Hobart. They continuously
invited him to play, without much luck. Hobart was happy to be invited but much
preferred to sniff and explore on his own. He continued this for most his
outdoor time, stopping to play with some of the younger girls when they
requested but never for long. Hobart had a great time wandering through the
deep snow, investigating every inch of the yard.
Buddy is an absolute hoot. He had me laughing and smiling
for the entire duration of his group time. Buddy must have been the happiest
dog here about the foot of light fluffy powder. The moment I let him outdoors
he came sprinting at me showing me his famous smile and wiggling his bum. He
did loads of laps around me while whining and smiling at me. After some cuddles,
Buddy tore away from me and begin zooming around the yard. As he was looping
around the yard he began to dip his face in the snow, pushing his face along
with his hind legs. This continued for ages and made me laugh hysterically. He
loved bathing himself in the deep snow and couldn’t have had a better time
doing so. At one point, he was so deep in the powder that all I could see as
his little tail sticking out of the snow. When he finally came up for air,
Buddy was coated in a layer of snow. It looked as though he had been buried. I
tried by hardest to clean him off but as soon as I was done, he went for
another roll in the snow. He is 100% a snow dog! Buddy kept up these shenanigans
for his entire time outdoors with a smile on his face for most the time. I
loved having his company and the other dogs appreciated his positive attitude
towards the mass snow fall we received.
Rupert had a very busy morning with us starting out with a
long trail walk in the freshly fallen snow. Luckily the snow was light and
fluffy so Rupert was able to keep up speed as he happily galloped away! He
didn’t have much time to rest after that because next it was time to come up
front for some extra one-on-one time with me in the front playroom. That meant
we spent the whole time playing fetch with all of the new toys he found. He
especially loved playing with the rope toy but in true Rupert nature he chased
and fetched just about everything I would throw for him. After an exhausting
game up fetch, Rupert followed me up front to the reception area where he got
even more attention from the rest of our staff and hung out with little Shelby
for the rest of the morning. Last up on the mornings agenda was his group
outing with favourite ladies Jynxx and Skie and of course his favourite red
ball. The snow was so deep out in the yard but kudos to these three who managed
to make it all the way out into the far yard to play, it looks like they were
all floating in the snow as they were belly deep in the white fluff! Rupert had
some stiff competition this morning from the girls who were just as interested
in playing with his ball. He had to act quickly before Jynxx swooped in and
stole it away from him. The ball would also get buried in the snow as you can
imagine but that didn’t stop Rupert from sticking his head right in and
sniffing out the ball. He would then run over and drop it by my feet in usual
fashion and stare at me with those big eyes until I would acknowledge and throw
it for him. This pause gave Jynxx just enough time to steal it away and poor
Rupert had to search for the ball all over again. Needless to say, Rupert was
excited to come back in for a much-needed rest after his eventful morning!
Finnigan came in this morning looking dapper as ever with
his new shiny black haircut, but by the time his first group outing was over he
was no longer black, he was white, covered in snow bunnies as you can imagine.
It didn’t help that he literally immersed his whole body into the snow and
rolled around in pure joy. Something about that freshly fallen snow gets all
the pups going, especially the playful ones like Finnigan. As Finn was sniffing
out the snow, he came across a patch of roots that immediately got the
attention of the redheaded huskies but Finn tried his best to guard the roots
and stuck his bum in the air as he chewed away. It wasn’t long before he was up
and wrestling with best pal Muggins and the two of them sped across the yard
like speed demons kicking up all of the snow behind them. Finn was having so
much fun outside that he decided to stay out with two more groups and because
he is such a playful and friendly dog, we had no problem letting him run his
energy out with all of the friends. He met a new face today and it was that of
sweet Sam and although Sweet, she is confident and exhausted Finn from the
endless wrestling matches she initiated, just what Finn needed! After spending
most of the morning outside and with much protest on his back, Finn finally
followed me in and plopped himself down on his blanket to dry off and rest but
it wont be long before we see him covered in snow again!
