Coco, Timbits and the small dog gang started their morning
outside in the freshly fallen snow for a quick few laps around the yard. It wasn’t
until I saw little Coco lift her paw up in protest that I decided to bring the
gang inside for some fun in the indoor playroom instead. Timbits didn’t seem to
mind the snow, he was off in the far yard running laps when I called them in.
Off they trotted down the hall together as a pack and into the warm and cozy
playroom that was surrounded with toys! Well little Tim was just in dog heaven
with his choice of bone to play with. He collected three Nyla bones that were
bigger than his head and sprawled out on the floor to chew away. Even Coco wanted
to get in on that bone action and the two of them played a little tug of war
before Coco got bored and joined Julie and Merida in the hot spot where the sun
was shining through the window. Like three little cats, Coco and the rest of
the girls spent most of their morning sun-bathing, very thankful that they didn’t
have to be out in that bitter cold! They had a front row seat to the big dog
group that was out in the yard. Tim was very interested in what was happening
out there and jumped up on his hind legs to see out the window and was greeted
by Dushka who was on the other side and the two of them pawed and barked at
each other!
Rupert was back to his normal fetch-loving self today while
out with his newly found Husky family. He was over the initial excitement of
having Nyxx join the group and was excited to play with his favourite jolly
ball out in the snow. At first, he couldn’t find a ball in the yard even though
he sniffed through and through with his head buried in the snow. He would then
look up at me with a very confused look with hopes that I would find one for
him. Finally, he found the big red jolly ball, picked it up with his mouth,
pranced over and dropped it at my feet. He ran back and forth all morning long as
we endlessly played fetch; I don’t think he could ever get sick of this game.
He did however have to move quickly because the Huskies were hot on his trail
and gave him some stiff competition for that beloved ball. Rupert dove head
first into the snow to make sure he was the first to get it and barked away the
rest in excitement; his silky black fur was just sparkling with wet snow!
Rupert and I went back out into the snowy yard for some
one-on-one play time this afternoon. He was very excited that I brought his
ball outside with us, and hopped around my feet barking with excitement. I
threw the ball for Rupert as many times as he wanted to chase it before things
got too chilly. When Rupert decided that it was too cold even for fetch, we
went back inside for some snuggle time. Rupert and I hung out in the reception
area, warming up and having some snuggles.
Buck and Jake are so silly when they’re outside with their
friends! Jake has taken a real liking to Muggins, a very silly and playful lab mix.
As soon as Jake sees Muggins in the yard, he races over to see her and wastes
no time before pouncing on her. She and another friend were having a blast
wrestling in the snow, and Jake pounced in right away. Jake’s brother, Buck, on
the other had, spent most of his group time keeping very busy with his nose
firmly to the ground. He wandered back and forth at the fence and the side of
the building. Every now and then some other friends would come up to see what
he was looking at. Bloodhound friends Glory and Wally popped in periodically to
see if there was anything interesting buried in the snow. Jake took a break
here and there from playing with his friends and joined Buck in his sniffing.
When Jake went to play again, Buck decided to join him and the other dogs in
their wrestling match. Buck was drawn to Ricky, who spent most of his "wrestling match" rolling around on the ground, covering himself in snow. The other dogs found this very interesting, and checked in on Ricky as if they were asking why he was still on the ground. He only got up when Jake started to chase after Muggins once again.
